A ship is found floating through the cosmos, emitting an SOS signal. The supply line vessel the Carridon intercepts it but finds the ship derelict and the crew dead. Things soon take a turn for the worst as the derelict ship and Carridon becomes a hopeless struggle for survival against an ancient and evil enemy. A universe event story, between the 4th and 5th Doctors timelines.

Fate decides very little in peoples lives. Decisions are what sets us down a certain path. The Doctors path was chosen when he started off on his adventures, but someone else's decisions could send him off on a completely different road. For example; if there were a second alien in Van Statten's underground museum that only wanted to get away, things could change for the better.
