Knuckles was relaxing on Angel Island as Rouge flew by, stealing the Master Emerald.

"Happy birthday to me!" Rouge says.

"Emerald thief!" Knuckles says and gave chase as he rushed off the island and began gliding.

Chalice got up early. Today was a big day. The cups come into her room and smile at her.

"Good morning, Chalice!" They both say.

"Morning, ding-dongs." Chalice says.

"So, what did you think of Luke's behavior last night?" Mugman asked Chalice.

Chalice looked down. "I can't believe he did all that…over not wanting to share his birthday." She says before going down to breakfast.

Breakfast was a tense time for everyone. Oliver sat next to Charity, still shaken. Luke sat at the opposite end with Chalice, who kept scooting away from him. Cuphead and Mugman watched the scene before them.

Aria was there. Luckily, Charity allowed the kids to eat their breakfast in Aria's room.

"Don't touch me!" Chalice shouted at Luke.

Leni was concerned as she watched Chalice grab her breakfast plate and go to the throne room.

"This family is falling apart…" Leni says.

Luke goes after her. Chalice stares at him.

"Just…just why?" Chalice asked Luke.

"He ruined my week! I want another week!" Luke says.

"Look at yourself! All this excess and spoiling and greed has changed you! You aren't the Luke I married 6 years ago! You're a cold-hearted greedy-guts!" Chalice said, on the verge of tears.

"We have to do our vow renewal ceremony today…please don't leave me…" Luke sniffed.

"I'm going out with the ding-dongs after breakfast. You can stay here and think about your behavior." Chalice says. "What I saw last night was the opposite of what I married 6 years ago."

Luke looked down and cried. Chalice left with the cups while Luna and Sam took the kids out for a little bit.

Leni comes in an hour later.

"Luke?" Leni asked.

"What?" Luke sniffed. "If you're here to get me fitted for my suit, just get it over with."

Leni does that. "Do you want to talk?" She asked.

"Does everyone hate me, Leni?" Luke asked sadly.

"No." Leni says.

"I feel like everyone does hate me because of how much I hurt Oliver…" Luke says.

"Why did you hurt him?" Leni asked.

"Because I just didn't like the idea of sharing my day again." Luke says. "And the fact he was getting more attention. And that his career was taking off again…it just made me so mad…"

Leni holds him.

"And now my hatred toward Oliver is tearing everyone apart…" Luke sniffed. "I don't want to lose my friends or my family."

"Then you need to learn how to be better." Leni says. "Get some therapy and definitely get some help."

"I can do that." Luke says.

With Chalice, she was walking around the Inkwell shopping square with the cups.

"Chalice, you're stress-cracking again…" Mugman says.

"I'm nervous, Mugsy…" Chalice says.

They feel bad for Chalice. She had been through a lot since Luke's birthweek. Well, actually, it was the day after the birthweek, but still, Chalice had been through enough.

"Is there anything we can do to help you feel better, Chalice?" Cuphead asked.

Chalice thinks.

"I want you ding-dongs to talk to Luke for me. Can you do that?" Chalice asked.

The cup brothers nod. Once Chalice took off to go to her voice lessons, the cups headed to the castle.

Inkwell Castle was bustling with activity. The chefs were preparing the food and cake for the vow renewal reception, Luna and her band were rehearsing, the castle servants were cleaning and decorating from top to bottom, florists from all over the multiverse were bringing flowers, the priest was practicing his speech, and guests were already dropping off gifts and goodies.

Luke was in the throne room, scolding himself for his actions.

Shadow, with a heavy sigh, stood alone. Last year, he despised his birthday. Sonic and the others tried to rope him into celebrating, but he wanted no part of it.

Shadow decided to go on patrol, skating around. He remembered what Luke did.

"Honestly, I don't trust Luke." Shadow says as Rouge flew by.

"You both have big egos." Rouge says.

The cups came in, seeing Luke.

"We have to talk." Mugman says. "You really have been stressing Chalice out lately."

"Our sister doesn't deserve to feel this way because you can't put a lid on your greed and selfishness." Cuphead says. "And think about Aria, who is stuck in the middle of all this. She needs her father."

Luke looks annoyed.

Rouge smiled. "I wonder if Shadow will get me a gift. But for now, I need to hide the Master Emerald." She says.

She noticed warp rings and smirked.

Meanwhile, Bowser arrived. "Time to settle the score!" Bowser says.

"We just beat you last night…" Daisy says.

"Yeah!" Emila says

"Bone Mage, you know what to do." Bowser says as Bone Mage gave the dry bones power-ups.

"Mama-mia!" Mario says. Mario leaped on blocks and got himself a Tanooki leaf as Luigi got a blue shell.

Hammers were flying everywhere as Angry Luigi rose crystals up, forming a wall. Alem tuber was punching and smashing Dry Bones.

Charity stepped in just as Luke tried to snap the handles off the cups.

"Enough, Luke Flynn! For once I'm taking a stand against this appalling behavior of yours!" Charity says.

Suddenly, Shadow arrived using a warp ring and glared. "I knew you couldn't be trusted." Shadow says. "Chaos Control!" Shadow says and kicks Luke after slowing down time.

Luke was sent down as Shadow walked to him. "All those birthdays…honestly, you need to stop and listen for once! If words don't work, then maybe actions will."

Shadow rushed and punched Luke, sending him through a wall and into a pile of gifts, many of which were glass and potentially irreplaceable.

"Shadow, mind if I hide behind you?" Rouge asked.

"Shadow!" Sonic says, standing with Tails, Knuckles, and Amy.

"Quiet, Sonic! I'm teaching Luke a lesson." Shadow says.

"This is not the way to do it! This isn't a birthday party! Look around you!" Sonic says.

"Relax, I can fix it up." Lucy says.

Luke groaned, holding his head. She uses magic to fix him and the parts of the castle that were damaged. She also fixed the damaged gifts.

Shadow glared at Luke. "I have my eyes on you." Shadow says and leaves.

"That's Shadow for you." Sonic says.

"Now, where were we?" Charity asked.

"The Master Emerald!" Knuckles says. Rouge runs off.

Luke looked down in shame while Amy put extra glue on the cups, fixing them.

"Luke, you need to stop this. Immediately." Charity says sternly. "Look at yourself!"

Luke looked in a mirror. He gasped.

"You aren't the person Chalice fell in love with. You aren't the father Aria needs. You are being very selfish and violent and a whole bunch of other things. Chalice is terrified of you. You almost hurt her brothers and nearly killed them over having a simple talk. Aria is scared to be around you because you're greedy and selfish and aggressive. She never wants to come home if you keep acting this way." Charity says.

Soon, it was two hours before the vow renewal ceremony. Luke wasn't dressed or ready and Chalice was nowhere to be seen.

"I don't know what to do." Lucy says.

Mugman went to look for Chalice. Cuphead was trying to console Luke.

"Luke promised he'd calm down for you. He's even going to get help so he can control it." Mugman says.

Chalice smiled. "Let's do this." She says.

Cuphead helps Luke get ready.

He wore a nice blue suit that Leni made for him. He smiled.

"I'm ready now." Luke says as Cuphead helped him put on his tie.

In Hill Top Zone, Knuckles tries punching Rouge, who dodges.

"Didn't ya know it's my birthday?" Rouge says

"That gives you no right." Knuckles says as Rouge flies off. Knuckles glides after her.

Meanwhile, Dry Bones tossed hammers as Angry Luigi leaped up and unleashed Bruty and rammed through them, punching them one by one.

Alem tuber turned Super Saiyan Blue and shot a final flash at the giants.

Delta speeds towards Bone Mage, who teleports. Bowser shot flames at Mario, who dodged. Luigi leaps on Larry.

At Inkwell Castle, Luke waits at the altar for Chalice.

Chalice soon came out wearing a white dress with gold edging. Her veil flowed behind her and she was carrying yellow roses. Cuphead and Mugman were shedding tears of joy as they watched her.

The ceremony began as Luke and Chalice renewed their wedding vows. Soon, they kissed and everyone cheered.

The afterparty started after that. Luna's band started performing on stage as the guests danced. Luke twirled Chalice and smiled.

Rouge arrived at a hideout as the lights turned on.

"Happy Birthday Rouge!" everyone says.

Rouge smiled looking at the cute decorations

Meanwhile, there were some explosions as Angry Luigi was panting.

Everyone was tired.

"We missed Luke and Chalice's vow renewal thanks to you!" Peach says, panting.

"You were supposed to be getting married to me!" Bowser panted.

"Honestly, being princess is a curse. Because of you I can't be there for my friends!" Peach says. Bowser glared as Mario leaped in front of Peach.

"You still wanna go, huh? Showtime!" Bowser says.

Chalice got very upset that her friends weren't here for her.

"We're still here!" Colleen says.

"You're LUKEY'S friends!" Chalice says, storming off.

"Chalice, I'm sorry your friends got busy. I mean your friends just so happened to be heroes who never get a break." Charity says.

"I HATE THEM! I HATE THEM! I HATE…HATE…HATE THEM!" She screamed.

"Chalice, you can't blame people for things they can't control, I'm sure they wanted to come." Charity says.

"GO. AWAY!" Chalice screamed. "JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!"

Luke opened Garrett's gift, getting a new mic. He could hear how angry Chalice felt.

Chalice sobbed and sobbed. She didn't want to come out. She then looked at the invitations for her birthday party. She tore them apart and sobbed harder.

"Is your birthday party going to be cancelled?" Lynn asked.

"Why bother with my birthday party at all?" Chalice says sadly. "My friends won't show up to it. This night was important and they ditched me! Why should I even invite them to my birthday party if they'll just ditch that, too?"

Meanwhile

"You thought this would be easy, well think again!" Bowser says

"How come Bowser's using power ups?" Angry Luigi asked

"Cause you will die!" Bowser says as raccoon Bullet Bills rushed in, blowing up Peach's castle.

"Why don't you head to Luke and Chalice's party?" Alem tuber says.

"But my kingdom is in trouble…" Peach says.

"Daisy and Rosalina are already there and Chalice will have you executed if you don't show up, so in ya go." Emila says using magic shoving her into a portal.

"PEACH!" Bowser says and gets mad. "THAT DOES IT! MARIO, YOU JUST MADE YOUR LAST MISTAKE!"

"We're in trouble if Bowser and Bone Mage are actually competent." Bill says.

"Delta, do something…" Angry Luigi says as she was trapped in a water cage

"Crud." Chrissy says.

Meanwhile, Peach woke up in Inkwell Lake. Lucky for her, the present she made for Chalice was safe.

Peach soon finds Chalice.

"So…did you have fun ditching me?" Chalice asked, mad.

"I'm sorry, my kingdom was in trouble" Peach says

"So your kingdom was more important than my day?" Chalice asked

"Chalice, please forgive me if the roles were reversed. Maybe you'd understand, would you abandon your people for a party?" Peach asked.

"No. I WOULDN'T!" Chalice shouted. She walked off. Luke soon finds her as Chalice was in her ghost mode.

"Chalice, please come back to me…" Luke says. "I know that you're mad. I just want you to be happy. Please tell me what I can do to see your charming smile again…"

Chalice wasn't having it and wouldn't come back to her solid form. She floated back to the party in her ghost form.

Aria sniffed since things were going downhill.

Amy gave Chalice a gift. Chalice was a ghost and couldn't really open it. She goes into her normal mode and sees a nice dress. She sniffed.

"Thanks." She says, still a bit unhappy. Amy smiled.

Luke gave his gift. "Come on, sweetheart, I got this especially for you…" Luke says.

Chalice opened it and gasped. It was the charm bracelet that she saw at the jewelry store on the Riverwalk in San Antonio.

"Lukey…it's…it's beautiful…" Chalice says, sniffling as Luke puts the bracelet on her.

Then Peach got her sparkling shoes, which Chalice adored.

Aria gave Luke her gift, which was a Rolex watch. Luke loved it.

After that, Luke took Chalice to the balcony to get some fresh air.

Luke's P.O.V.

I was holding Chalice on the balcony as we looked at the stars. I could still see she felt a little sad.

I could tell that she wouldn't be in a Christmas mood this year as she just felt scared of being ditched, like she felt tonight.

I reassure her the best I can, then I think of the show, which would start back up after Christmas. I have plans to order some custom Michigan State cheer uniforms for our performance.

Peach looked worried for her kingdom and she hoped Mario was okay. she felt awful for not being there.

Lynn was eating food, the kids were playing kiddie games, and Lucy was reading poems. Luna played music on stage, but saw Luke and Chalice hadn't returned.

Garrett goes to find them. He sees them.

"Are you coming? It is your party…" He tells the couple. He then sees Chalice's state of emotional well-being.

"I'm not going right now!" She sobbed.

Thanks to this, the party had to stop. Without Luke or Chalice, there couldn't be a party, so it had to be paused until Chalice was ready, but judging by her pace, it would be a while.

Chalice sobbed and sobbed for 3 hours.

"Are you okay, darling?" Luke asked.

"I want my birthday to be perfect, but we both know Cuphead was invited to a party that day…" Chalice sobbed. Luke took her back inside.

"Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the piñata, then cake." Luke says. "Chalice's orders."

Lynn took out the pinata. Luke held Chalice back. Aria gave Luke his nine-iron as he and Chalice broke the piñata open.

Candy fell out as Chalice took her share and sat on her throne. Luke sat with her after taking his share.

"This is Peach's fault for not coming early…" Chalice says as she eats four full-size candy bars.

Peach hears this and feels guilty. Her kingdom was possibly destroyed and for all she knew, Mario might be dead by now, and now Chalice was hating Peach for trying to protect her people

"Maybe I shouldn't rule the mushroom Kingdom" Peach says, filled with lots of pressure as she took off her crown.

Daisy and Rosalina felt bad.

Soon, it was cake time as Stephen brought out a huge cake.

It said "Happy Marriage Vow Renewal, Luke And Chalice!" Chalice stared at the six candles burning on it, slowly hissing as everyone began to sing.

Luke wished that his anniversary would be perfect and Chalice wished she had better friends.

They blew their candles out as everyone cheered.

While everyone was having fun, Knuckles snuck into Rouge's party and grabbed the Master Emerald while Rouge was distracted and rushed off

"Finally, my quest is complete. Now to get back to Angel Island…. Where is Tails, anyway?" Knuckles asked as crickets chirped.

Peach arrives at her castle and sees Toad town in ruins. Toads struggling to hide Luigi sobbing looking at Mario. Emma tried to wake her brothers up and Toadette looked hurt.

Chrissy was standing but looked wounded. Savannah was okay as Bill was out cold. The Cosmic buddies barely won.

"No, no…" Peach sobbed and broke due to all the pressure she didn't know if she deserved to be princess and maybe Chalice should be the ruler.

"We won…" Chrissy pants before collapsing.

Meanwhile, Aria wrote her Christmas wish list.

Chalice didn't bother to make a wish list. She wouldn't get what she wanted, anyway. She never did.
