Greetings my beloved readers, it's Unknown entity328 with a new chapter of Coinciding Light and Darkness! I'll admit, this chapter took so long because I was busy with real life stuff and looking for the proper references. That being said, I'm happy to announce that I'm satisfied with how this chapter turned out and I hope you enjoy it as well! Now that we have that out of the way, on with the chapter!
Chapter Seven: Angel's Fantasia Part 1
It was a peaceful day today, with not a single Number card to be spotted. I took this as a good sign and decided to focus on my studies. I noticed that after this whole Number card fiasco, my grades took a small hit. Mind you, I wasn't a straight A student, but my grade point average dropped to barely passing my classes. Naturally, Kari gave me a looong lecture about how studying is important for my future. She even gave Yuma the same lecture later on. I tried to keep my grades up, but I've been so busy with the band and finding Numbers, I hardly had time to study.
So I'm taking advantage of this peaceful day to cram as much information in my head as possible. Kazu simply floated behind me, reviewing the Numbers we managed to collect so far. Occasionally, he would stop to point out a mistake I made and help me correct it. To be honest, for an alien astral lifeform thing, Kazu's pretty knowledgeable about Earth. Which begs the question, how does he know so much about Earth?
The way he talks makes it sound as if he's lived his whole life on Earth to where he understands basic concepts. He never asks questions about anything relating to humans or anything. In fact, he knows some things that even I don't, and I'm an actual human. If it wasn't for the fact he was a floating astral being, I'd think he was a normal human in his late teens.
"That's enough for today." I said, letting out a sigh and I set down my pencil. I leaned back into my chair and raised my arms to stretch them. "I think I made decent progress."
I looked up to see that Kazu was gone, probably went into the lock some time ago. That was a bit disappointing, I wanted to ask him a few things. Specifically, why did these number cards influence those who have them? It seemed that everyone who was in possession of a number had their personalities changed. But for some reason, Yuma and I are the only ones unaffected. I think Kazu said something about it having to do with Yuma's key and my lock.
I looked down at my lock dangling around my neck to watch the gem in the middle faintly glow. I remember dad saying that he and mom had no idea how my lock and Yuma's key were made. In fact, they weren't sure what era they were from.
Now that I think of it, when dad found them, he said something strange when he came back in a stretcher. I can't remember what he said, but I know he sounded certain and wasn't hallucinating. What I do remember was how scared Yuma and I were when we almost lost dad during his and mom's expedition.
'Let's stop there.' I gripped my lock and got to my feet when my thoughts were starting to get depressing. I grabbed my duel disk and deck box and strapped them in their usual place on my belt. 'Maybe a duel will help clear my mind.'
I wasted no time leaving my room and going down the stairs. As I walked past the living room, I saw Kari sitting on the sofa sifting through her holo screens. As usual, she was hard at work trying to find a decent scoop. She probably felt my eyes on her because she looked over her shoulder.
"Hey, Yusa, where are you heading?" Kari asked, frowning when she saw my duel disk and deck box. I don't know why, but Kari is adamantly against me and Yuma dueling for some reason.
"Just heading out for some fresh air." I replied, lightly tugging on my gloves to make sure they were secure. When she raised an eyebrow at me, I raised my hands in surrender. "Relax, I finished my homework and my hour of studying."
Kari gave me a look of suspicion before returning to her holo screens and tapping them with her stylus. "Alright then, be careful out there."
Not giving her a chance in case she decides to question why I'm bringing my duel disk, I ran out of the house. I bid good-bye to grandma, who was sweeping the front yard as usual. I soon found myself walking along the busy streets of Heartland looking for an opponent. Unfortunately, everyone I've encountered was either already in a duel or going about their everyday life.
After two hours of searching, I decided to just go to the mall and do a bit of window shopping. I would buy something, but I didn't bring any money with me, and I'm not in need of anything at the moment. I immediately regretted it when I walked past a card shop. I was hoping to improve my deck, but my idiotic brian decided to leave my wallet at home.
"Well, guess I'll just head home." I mumbled, looking over the different card packs on display.
I heard a sudden shriek before something slammed into the back of my head. Caught off guard, the force of the blow slammed my face into the display case. I let out a painful moan as I slid to the floor. I placed a hand over my face to ease the stinging pain as I got into a sitting position.
"Ow, what hit me?" I removed my hand to see that I was surrounded by sheets of paper and a white canvas messenger bag. I sweatdropped at what I was seeing as more sheets of paper fluttered to the floor. 'What the heck?'
"I'm so sorry!" I looked over my shoulder to see a woman in her mid-twenties frantically gathering the sheets of paper.
She had fair skin, long flowing blonde hair, and violet eyes. Her bangs were swept to the right and held in place by a musical note shaped hair clip. She wore a white blouse, knee-high skirt, and beige slip-on shoes. Around her neck was a gold necklace with a piano shaped charm.
"Here, let me help." I said, getting on my knees and picking up the sheets of paper around me.
"I greatly appreciate it, thank you." The woman said, giving me a grateful, yet apologetic smile. "Sorry again for what happened, I tripped and lost my grip on my bag."
"Don't worry about it." I waved off her apology before continuing to pick up the sheets of paper. When I picked one up, I looked at it curiously and was surprised at what I was seeing. "Piano sheet music?"
"That's right." The woman confirmed, also having a look of surprise as we picked up the last of the papers. She picked up her bag before stuffing the stack she had inside and we both got to our feet. "I'm impressed that you can tell."
"Well, one of my bandmates plays the keyboard." I explained, handing over the stack I picked up. I rubbed the back of my neck sheepishly at the admission I was in a band. "So I got pretty familiar with sheet music."
"Is that so?" The woman smiled, accepting the stack and stuffing them into her bag. "Thank you again for your help." She then clapped her hands together as she had a thought. "Are you hungry right now? I can treat you to some lunch as thanks and apology."
"You don't have to do that." I waved my hands in polite refusal, surprised that she would offer to treat me to lunch despite being total strangers.
"I insist." The woman said, clasping my hands in hers as she looked pleadingly in my eyes. "I would've been doomed if those sheet music were damaged."
"Well, if you insist." I said hesitantly, feeling uncomfortable with all the stares we were getting from the other customers.
And that's how I found myself having a burger and fries in the food court while the woman across from me just had a salad. Had being the operative word here because all she did was poke at it with her fork. In fact, she looked lost in thought with her eyes occasionally drifting to her bag. She was probably worried about the sheet music inside.
"I didn't have the chance to introduce myself, so let me do it now." The woman said, gaining my attention as she set her fork down. She looked around cautiously before leaning forward and whispered. "My name is Sonia Turner."
"I'm Yusa Tsukumo, nice to me-WAIT A MINUTE!" I started to introduce myself before jumping to my feet, a look of total shock and disbelief on my face. My sudden outburst had everyone in the food court look in my direction in surprise. Apologizing profusely for the noise, I sat back down and looked at the woman. "You're the Sonia Turner?"
I couldn't believe it right now, I'm having lunch with Sonia Turner! She's the number one pianist and singer in the world right now. She debuted seven years ago and quickly rose to third place in the rankings in half a year. Not only that, but she was runner-up for the World Duel Monsters Circuit five years ago. She retired as a duelist shortly after to focus on her music career.
Sora's been a diehard fan of hers since her debut and received negative feedback at the start of her career. Sonia Turner was the reason Sora played the keyboard for the band. She even based her deck off Sonia's to show how much she supports her. If Sora was here, she would probably be fangirling right about now.
"I am." Sonia nodded, finally taking a bite of her salad before smiling apologetically again. "Sorry if I surprised you."
"No, I'm sorry for my outburst." I quickly said, waving my hands frantically looking down in embarrassment. I then looked back at Sonia with a curious expression on my face. "But what were you doing in a card shop, didn't you retire being a duelist?"
"Ah, that." Sonia suddenly looked a little sad as she looked down at her salad. "I was looking for inspiration."
"Inspiration?" I blinked in confusion before looking at her bag and remembering the sheet music inside. "Oh, for a new song."
"Yes." Sonia nodded, reaching into the bag and pulled out a half finished sheet music. "But I can't seem to finish the last part." She sighed as she stared at the page, her sad expression getting slightly worse. "I was hoping to finish it before my piano recital tomorrow."
"Is it an important song?" I asked, noticing how she fiddled with her necklace as she stared at the page.
"It is." Sonia set the page on the table to take another bite of her salad. "I wanted to play it for my husband." She placed a hand over her mouth and closed her eyes, tears building in the corner of them. "He passed away in an accident last year and our anniversary is tomorrow."
"Oh." I said softly, lowering my head sorrowfully and setting my burger to the side, having lost my appetite. "I'm sorry for your loss."
"Thank you." Sonia sniffled, wiping her tears away with a napkin before blowing her nose. She sighed as she returned the page back in her bag. "This song was something we were composing together, it's called Angel's Fantasia."
"That's a wonderful name for a song." I said, hoping to cheer Sonia up and moving to a more upbeat topic. "I bet it'll sound lovely."
"We had fun composing it." Sonia smiled, a nostalgic look on her face as she poked at her salad again. "What we had in mind for this song was to have the audience feel like angels are watching over them." She chuckled which got me curious as to what made her laugh. "When we first met, he called me his guardian angel of music."
"Now that's romantic." I smiled to see she wasn't sad anymore and reminisced about the happy times instead. "I'm sure he's watching over you as your angel now."
Sonia gave a look of surprise and seemed to mull over what I said. She giggled and looked a little happier now. "I certainly hope so, then it'll be like he's always by my side."
I looked at the clock in the center of the food court and got to my feet. "Well, it's about time I head home, thanks for lunch."
"Wait." Sonia said, much to my confusion as she reached into her bag again, rummaging inside. I looked on in confusion as she pulled out two tickets and held them out to me. "Here, take these as a show of my appreciation for listening to me."
"Are you sure?" I looked at her in surprise, looking back and forth from the tickets and Sonia. When she nodded, I hesitantly took the tickets and looked at them. I then looked at Sonia and smiled appreciatively. "Thank you."
"I should be thanking you." Sonia smiled, looking at her bag and her smile became nostalgic. "After talking with you, I think I might be able to finish it now."
"I hope you do." I said sincerely, pocketing the tickets and ran out of the food court while waving over my shoulder. "I can't wait to hear it!"
My lock began to glow and Kaze appeared beside me with his arms crossed. "Well, she seemed nice."
"Yeah." I nodded, running past the many stores in the mall before exiting it entirely. I pulled out the tickets and stared at them. "I can't believe I met Sonia Turner, and she gave me tickets to her concert."
"What are you going to do with the other ticket?" Kazu asked curiously, taking note that Sonia gave me two tickets. "Do you plan to take someone with you?"
I came to a screeching halt at that question and I stared at the tickets. I already had a good idea of who to take with me, it's obvious. But the question is, am I brave enough to ask? Just the thought of it is enough to make my legs lock tightly in place. I mean, it would be a jerk move to go without them. But it's not like I just walk up and casually ask either. I remember that Sora was disappointed that she couldn't get tickets when Sonia's concert was announced. I felt bad for her because I knew how long Sora supported Sonia's career. This was the perfect chance to cheer her up, but my stupid nervousness was getting the better of me.
'Man up, Yusa!' I shook my head and pocketed the tickets before sprinting my way home.
When I got home, I avoided Kari as much as I could without her getting suspicious. If she found out I had tickets to Sonia Turner's concert, she'd want to come along to interview her. I quietly apologized to her, but I already knew who I was giving my extra ticket to. I just hope I don't back out at the last minute and look like a complete idiot.
I put the tickets in my uniform's pant pocket to make sure I didn't forget them tomorrow. I would've just called Sora and asked, but I wanted to do it directly. I don't know why, but I feel like something like this needs to be face to face instead of over a call. Call me old fashioned, but doing it this way will show my sincerity.
The next day, I went to school like I usually do, except I had to leave home a little earlier in the morning. I normally go to school together with Yuma, but today I had to mentally prepare myself. Sure, getting to school early will look good on my attendance, but it also gives me time to think. I can't just walk up to Sora and practically shove the ticket in her face, after all. Before anyone says anything, this is not, I repeat NOT a date, it's just gonna be two friends hanging out.
…
Two friends who just so happen to be a boy and a girl with no one else around to play third wheel. But I digress, I need to think of a way to mention Sonia Turner and give her the ticket. Ugh, this is a lot harder than I thought it would be, I can just hear Kyle and Blazer teasing me already.
I sat at my desk, staring at the tickets in my hand as I tried to think of a way to give Sora one of them. I can always try the direct approach, which usually works in most cases. However, that's easier said than done when the person in question is someone you had a crush on for a long time. Just the thought was enough to make it feel like my feet were fused with the ground. It doesn't help that there's the chance she'll just laugh at me and the world comes to an end. I'll admit, I'm being utterly pathetic, I haven't even asked yet and I'm already considering the worse case scenario.
"Morning, Yusa." I jumped at the voice behind me and looked to my right to see Sora. She smiled sheepishly and twirled a finger around her hair. "Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you."
"It's okay, I was just lost in thought." I replied, pocketing the tickets before she had a chance to see what they were. I rested my arms on my desk before placing my forehead on them to hide my blush. 'What is wrong with me?!'
"You feeling okay, Yusa?" Sora asked, I peeked up to her to see she had a look of worry on her face. "Your face is all red." She placed the back of her hand against my forehead, which made my blush turn a darker shade of red. "Did you catch a cold?"
"I-I'm perfectly fine!" I replied, recoiling away from her hand as if it burned me, placing my hand over my forehead. My action, however, caused one of my tickets to slip out of my pocket and flutter to the floor. 'Crap!'
"What's this?" Sora wondered, kneeling down and picking up the ticket and looking at it curiously. "A ticket?" She flipped the ticket over and her eyes widened in excited shock. "A ticket to Sonia Turner's piano recital?!"
Knowing what was gonna happen, I quickly covered my ears and waited. As expected, Sora let out a squeal so loud I could still hear it. She then started jumping in place as she stared at the ticket. Sora held the ticket up to the overhead lights as if inspecting if it was real or not. Apparently, she found what she was looking for, because she brought the ticket down to stare at it.
"I can't believe it!" Sora looked between me and the ticket for a few moments before focusing on me. "How did you get a ticket, Yusa?" She handed the ticket back to me, albeit reluctantly. "Tickets for her recital were sold out almost instantly when they started distributing them."
"Well, funny story…" I laughed sheepishly, trying to find the right words that would explain how I got the tickets. "I ran into Sonia when I was at the mall yesterday." I rubbed the back of my neck and pulled out the other ticket, much to Sora's surprise. "We had lunch, talked for a bit, and she gave me these tickets."
"You seriously met Sonia Turner?" Sora asked in disbelief, and a tiny bit jealousy, looking down at the tickets in my hand. She then placed her hands behind her back and fidgeted a little. "So, who are you giving the extra ticket to?"
'Is it wrong I find that cute?' I thought, trying so hard not to turn into a flustered mess and start speaking incoherently. Coughing into my fist, I looked to the side nervously as I held out the ticket. "Actually, I was going to ask you to come with me."
"Me?" Sora's eyes widened in surprise, once again looking between me and the ticket. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah." I nodded, giving a shy smile when I saw an excited one forming on Sora's face. "I know how much you adore Sonia, so I already knew who I was giving my extra ticket to."
Sora didn't know what to say, she just stared at me with that surprised look. She then finally took the ticket and her excited smile turned into a grateful one, a pink hue on her cheeks. "Thank you, Yusa."
"Don't mention it." I rubbed the back of my neck, glad to see her happy. On the inside, I was sighing in relief that she said yes. I then realized something and looked at the door curiously. "Come to think of it, what's taking Yuma so long?"
"He's talking with Tori." Sora explained, looking at the door as well. "She's prodding him to go see the Sparrow with her."
"The Sparrow?" I raised an eyebrow, crossing my arms as I tried to place the unique name. I blinked and held up a finger when I finally remembered. "Oh, the main character of that tv show."
"Yup." Sora nodded, carefully putting her ticket in her school bag. She then took her seat behind me and pulled out her duel disk. "She asked me too, but I declined." Sora smiled at me, which I couldn't help but find cute. "Besides, I'd rather go with you instead, Yusa."
"Y-you do?" I stammered, my heart beating rapidly and my face feeling warm.
"I would be crazy to pass up watching Sona Turner live, after all." Sora continued, beaming brightly while I facefaulted.
'Of course that's what she meant.' I thought dejectedly, lifting myself back into my seat as I mentally beat myself up for being stupid. Deciding to berate myself later, I looked over to Sora. "So, wanna head over after school?"
"Sure!" Sora nodded, fiddling with her duel disk until a holo screen appeared above it. "I don't have that much to do after school, anyway."
I couldn't help but gaze up in awe of the building in front of me. When school was over, Sora and I made a beeline for the stadium that Sonia was holding her recital. What was even crazier was the number of people who showed up. I knew she was a famous musician, but there's enough people to completely surround the building. In fact, I think I even see security pushing back a few people trying to get in before the doors open.
"Wow, there's a lot of people here." I muttered, looking around at all the people around me. "Maybe we should've tried a less crowded entrance, right Sor-"
I looked to my left and my eyes widened in surprise at what I was seeing. I don't know how, but Sora was covered from head to toe in Sonia Turner merch. Where did she even get all that merch, I was pretty sure she wasn't wearing them when we arrived. Sora even had rainbow colored glow sticks in her hands.
"I'm ready." Sora said softly, nodding to herself as she adjusted the Sonia Turner headband she was wearing.
"Wow, you came prepared." I sweatdropped, suddenly feeling ill prepared for not having anything Sonia related. "Where did all that come from, anyway?"
"A girl's got to have a few secrets." Sora winked at me, handing a couple of her glow sticks. "Here, I figured you could use these."
"Thanks." I took the glow sticks and looked at them curiously. I looked up in time to see something shining fly into one of the building's open windows. 'What was that?'
It wasn't long that they finally let us inside and Sora and I quickly found our seats, which were in the front row. I gotta say, I'm a little excited now, guess Sora sitting next to me is rubbing off on me. I'm still nervous about being here with her, but I'm glad to see her look so happy. I'm really looking forward to the song Sonia showed me, Angel's Fantasia. I sincerely hope she was able to finish it.
I looked down at her hand on the armrest, and blushed when I thought of placing my hand over hers. I inaudibly gulped as I hesitantly reached over to do just that. It was not meant to be, cause Sora jumped to her feet the moment the curtain rose. I looked up at the stage to see Sonia walking over to the piano.
I didn't know why, but something felt off about her from how she was yesterday. In fact, she looked and dressed like she was going to a funeral. She was now wearing a black backless dress, obsidian earrings, and a small black hat with a black veil covering her eyes. Sonia bowed to the audience before taking a seat before the piano.
My lock glowed as Kazu appeared above me with a stern expression. "Yusa, quickly, cover your ears."
'Why?' I looked up in questioning as Sonia lifted the lid of the piano. Kazu directed his stern expression to me and I quickly covered my ears.
Sonia raised her hands above her hand before slamming them onto the keys, creating a dreadful noise I could still hear. She then started playing with such ferocity that it didn't feel right. I couldn't hear because I was covering my ears, but I could tell this wasn't the song Sonia was working on. In fact, just by looking at how she was playing, it looked more like a requiem than a fantasia.
Suddenly, the sound of screams pierced through my ears and I looked around the stadium. The audience all had looks of abject horror and their wide terrified eyes were staring at nothing but air. I don't get it, what's making them so scared that they're screaming? Eyes widening, I looked to Sora, who also had a look of horror and was staring at nothing but air.
"Sora, what's wrong?" I asked in concern, removing my hands from my ears to shake her shoulder. However, as soon as I did, I immediately heard the song and started seeing something.
My eyes widened even further when I realized I was seeing my parents in front of me. They were smiling at me and had their arms outstretched, inviting me to jump into them. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and my body was shaking in indescribable yearning. I reached a hand out towards them to feel if they were real. I couldn't believe it until I'm sure I could touch them.
However, just as my hand was about to touch them, their eyes suddenly turned cold and emotionless. They then started to shrivel up and their hair falling off before maggots started crawling out their mouths and ears. Their flesh melted off until they were nothing but skeletons and reaching towards me. The yearning I felt turned to horror so quickly, I didn't even register that I started screaming.
Their boney fingers gripped my wrists and I struggled to get free. The skeleton I assumed used to be my mother started caressing my cheek. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the empty sockets staring into my very soul. I could do nothing but keep screaming until it felt like my throat was torn to shreds.
"Yusa, snap out of it!" I gasped when I heard Kazu's voice and the horrid vision before me slowly disappeared.
I took deep, staggering breaths to calm my rapidly beating heart. I frantically looked around in case those skeletons were still around. When I didn't see them, I finally started to calm down. I then looked up at Kazu to see he was directing his narrowed eyes towards Sonia.
"W-what was that?" I asked breathlessly, trying to gain control over my quivering body after what I just experienced.
"It was an illusion." Kazu replied, floating with his arms crossed and his narrowed eyes seemed to hold something in them. "Her music is making you see your loved ones in a less than pleasing way."
"But, why would she do that?" I wondered, looking over to Sonia as she continued to play her requiem. "This wasn't what she wanted at all."
"She's probably in possession of a Number." Kazu surmised, uncrossing his arms to rest his hand on his hip and used the other to cup his chin. "Seems like it gave her that ability."
"Then I already know what to do." I said, looking briefly towards Sora before running over and climbing up onto the stage. "Stop it, Sonia!"
Sonia paused in her playing to look over at me, causing the audience to stop screaming and collapse to the floor. "Oh, it's you."
"Sonia, can't you see you're tormenting all these people?" I asked, holding out an arm to gesture to the unconscious people behind me.
"I only wanted them to see their loved ones again." Sonia replied, standing up and stepping away from the piano. She lifted up her veil to give me a smile that was less than warm. "What about you, weren't you happy to see your loved ones again?"
"I never wanted to see them like that!" I shouted, swiping my arm before pointing at Sonia. "What about that song you wanted to play for everyone?"
"I discarded it." Sonia waved a hand dismissively much to my disbelief. She held her arms and looked over at the piano. "What's the point of angels when they can't even bring back those you love?"
"That wasn't why you wrote that song." I pointed out, once again gesturing to the audience behind me. "You wrote to have them feel as if angels are watching over them." I then pulled out my duel disk and held it out to her. "Since you forgot that, I'll have to make you remember."
"You're challenging me to a duel?" Sonia questioned, tilting her head in amusement. "Although I'm retired, I'm still a pro." She then pulled out her own duel disk and held it out to me. "Are you sure you stand a chance?"
"We'll find out soon enough." I frowned as I tossed my duel disk into the air with Sonia did the same. Our duel disks expanded and attached to our arms and we put on our duel gazers.

"Let's duel!"
Yusa: 4000
Sonia: 4000
"Ladies first, I draw!" Sonia declared as she drew her card before putting it in her hand. She then took another card and played it. "I summon Aliyah the Passion!"
The card appeared on the ground and an angel with fiery wings came out of it. She had bright red long hair tied in a ponytail and gold eyes. She wore a red ruffle one-shoulder side-slit evening gown. She also had a red and gold violin she started playing with such speed and passion.
Aliyah the Passion/FIRE/Level 4/Fairy/ATK: 1500/DEF: 600
"Now for her ability." Sonia continued, holding up her duel disk as a card slid out of it and she grabbed it. "She enables me to add a fairy from my deck to my hand that's level 4 or below." She then took another card and played it before a face-down appeared behind Aliyah. "Your turn."
Yusa: 4000
Sonia: 4000
"Alright, I draw!" I drew my card and looked at it and the other cards in my hand and took one. "Since you're the only one with monsters, I can summon Gagaga Head as a level 4 monster!" The delinquent looking monster appeared with a hand resting on his hip.
Gagaga Head/DARK/Level 6→4/Spellcaster/ATK: 2100/DEF: 2000
"Now attack Aliyah!" I ordered, pointing at the violin playing angel and Head charged towards the monster.
"Nice try!" Sonia yelled, taking a card from her hand and playing it.
Out of nowhere, an angel with wings of water between Aliyah and Head. She had short blue hair and turquoise eyes. She wore a blue strapless draped godet gown and a pearl necklace. In her hands was a silver flute that she started to play, seemingly pulled Head towards her. Head punched the angel, causing her to disperse into particles.
"What happened?!" I exclaimed, shocked at what just transpired.
"When you attack, I can summon Felice the Sorrow in defense mode." Sonia explained, revealing the card to reveal it had 600 defense points. "She then redirects your attack towards her."
"Impressive." Kazu muttered, holding his chin in contemplation. "Not only did she save her monster, she protected her life points as well."
"For someone who thinks angels are pointless, your deck says the opposite." I said, referring to how both her monsters were angels. I then took two cards from my hand and placed them face-down. "I end my turn."
Yusa: 4000
Sonia: 4000
"Angels are pointless." Sonia said as she drew her card and added it to her hand. "They're often depicted as guardians, what a laugh." She scoffed at the very thought of it. "If they're supposed to be guardians, where are they when we need them most?"
"Are you referring to your husband?" I asked hesitantly, remembering our talk from yesterday.
"That's right." Sonia looked over to me with a glare before directing it towards Aliyah. "If angels actually existed, then my husband would still be here with me."
"But do you really think he'd approve of what you're doing?" I questioned, worried evident in my voice. "I don't think he'd want to see you tormenting your fans like this."
"Don't talk like you know him!" Sonia yelled, taking a card from her hand and activating it, which I recognized as Monster Reborn. Felice appeared beside Aliyah and began to play their instruments.
Felice the Sorrow/WATER/Level 3/Fairy/ATK: 1200/DEF: 600
"You know nothing!" Sonia took another card and activated it. "Harmonic Synchronization adds up my monsters' level since they have the same defense points!"
I watched as Felice and Aliyah flew around each other in a form of dance as their instruments started to harmonize with each other. Their levels appeared before joining together. They then duplicated and returned to their respective monsters.
"Two level 7s." I muttered, not liking where this was going.
"I overlay level 7 Aliyah and Felice!" Sonia declared as Aliyah and Felice continued their dance as they became red and blue lights respectively. Then shot into the air as a galaxy-like network appeared on the ground. "With these two monsters, I build the overlay network!" The lights then dove into the network, causing an explosion as a blue 76 appeared on Sonia's neck. "I Xyz Summon Number 76: Harmonizer Gradielle!"
The number 76 appeared and flashed blue as a cocoon of rainbow colored feathers descended. The feathers dispersed, revealing an angel with rainbow colored wings. She had long sky blue hair and eyes with a large S-shaped hair piece. She wore a blue and white dress with the number 76 along the bottom. She also had white gauntlets and greaves wielding a keyboard sword.
Number 76: Harmonizer Gradielle/LIGHT/RANK 7/Fairy/XYZ/ATK: 2700/DEF: 2100/OBU: 2
"She did have a Number!" I exclaimed, looking up at the xyz monster that swung her keyboard sword to the side as she descended behind Sonia.
"Best keep your guard up, Yusa." Kazu cautioned, causing me to look at him to see the troubled look on his face. "I have a feeling this Number will be tricky."
'Well, that wasn't reassuring.' I thought, glancing over at the Number who only smiled and lightly played on her keyboard sword. 'Still, to knock some sense into Sonia. I'll take this Number down!'

Hunter HQ: Those Numbers will definitely make an appearance in the future. Thank you for the offer, I'll be sure to reach out to you when that time comes. Hm, there will be a possibility of manga characters making an appearance, but it hasn't been finalized just yet. There might be a chance that Shark will have his manga Numbers, only time will tell. I plan to give Shark and Hart some more screentime in the near future. In fact, it hasn't been decided yet, but I might give Hart a certain deck that I think might suit him better than another.
That's it for Review Corner, I hope that you all enjoyed this chapter! If you did, please leave a review with your opinions, questions, and suggestions. Before I forget, I currently have a poll set up for one of my fanfics. I would greatly appreciate it if you could stop by and leave a vote. With that said, I hope to see you all again soon!
