Prowl woke up to find Green licking him in the face.

"Good morning to you, too". Prowl said, giving the flyt a pat.

Green bumped her head into Prowl's, giving a loud chirp.

"Green, it's three in the morning, it's too early for Skitter". Prowl said, turning over to go back to sleep. He didn't have to start work until six, and he wasn't quite ready to get up just yet. But Green refused to be ignored. She continued to nudge Prowl's head, chirping and licking his face.

"Green, please go back to sleep",

Green perched herself onto Prowl's head, leaned into his face and gave another loud chirp.

"Okay, okay, I'll get you some Skitter". Prowl mumbled, sitting up. Green stayed perched on her master's head as he made his way to a cabinet and pulled out a box of her favorite treat. Prowl put a few pieces of Skitter in Green's food dish and she happily flew to her eating spot, delighted by her early morning snack.

"You can have more when it's breakfast time". Prowl told her, stifling a yawn and making his way back to bed. Prowl had only had his eyes closed for ten minutes when Green landed on his chest and chirped again.

"Green, I told you you can have more at breakfast! Now go back to sleep!"

Green opened her mouth, begging for more food.

Prowl sighed and climbed out of bed once more. He had no idea why the flyt was so hungry this morning.

A few hours later, while filing reports, Prowl looked up as Ironhide burst into his office.

"Prowl, that flying rat of yours bit me!" he said, holding up his right index finger.

"What did you do to her?" Prowl asked.

"I didn't do anything!" Ironhide said. "She was sitting on the couch in the rec room when I walked past, and trying to be friendly, I gave her a pat. And she bit me!"

"Well, she's had her shots".

"That's not the point! If she's gonna start biting bots, you need to keep her locked up in your room!" Ironhide then turned and stormed out of the office, still examining his finger even though Prowl knew a small flyt like Green wouldn't be able to inflict any damage.

"Did Ironhide have to show you his 'injury' from Green?" Jazz asked with a grin as he and Prowl made their way to the rec room after being on patrol.

"He had to come tell me about it, but didn't actually show me". Prowl answered.

"Wasn't nothing to see". Jazz said. "A very, very faint scratch. He's acting like she tried to maul him!" Jazz gave a laugh and Prowl rolled his eyes. He didn't much care for the fact Ironhide was acting like Green was becoming a menace.

Walking into the rec room, they found Green in her usual spot, perched on the stand Prowl had placed in the corner of the room. But instead of her usual excited greeting when Prowl got back from patrol, Green just sat and cleaned her wings. Prowl frowned and gave a low whistle. Green looked up and then continued with her grooming.

"Green, come on". Prowl stretched out his arm.

Green looked at him once more but made no effort to obey him. Prowl whistled again and, almost grudgingly, Green flew over and perched on his outstretched arm.

"Never seen her act like that before", Jazz mused.

Prowl took a piece of Skitter from his storage compartment and held it up. Green looked at the treat then went back to cleaning her wings.

"I'm taking her to Ratchet". Prowl said, heading for the med bay with Jazz close behind.

"I don't know one thing about flyts, Prowl". Ratchet said when Prowl told him about Green's behavior. "You can take her to Jetfire, but he's in Sonic Canyons and won't be back till sometime tomorrow".

"This morning she was starving and now she won't eat anything". Prowl said, watching as Green continued grooming her wings for some reason.

"Maybe she just isn't hungry right now". Ratchet suggested. "I'm sorry, Prowl, but I don't know anything about animal care. Jetfire's taken courses in biology, he'll be able to help".

"I'm sure she'll be fine, Prowler". Jazz said, giving his friend a slap on the back. "Maybe she's just having an off day, we've all had days like that".

Prowl followed Jazz out of the med bay as Green settled herself on Prowl's shoulder.

Prowl knew there would be no use trying to sleep that night, he was too worried about Green. She still refused to eat and spent the rest of the evening on her perch in Prowl's quarters. Instead of going to bed, Prowl had decided to get more work done at his desk. When morning came, Prowl was surprised to find he had fallen asleep at his desk, leaning on a stack of datapads. He was also surprised to find Green curled up in his lap, as she sometimes did when Prowl was working. Prowl ran a hand down her back and Green woke up with a start. She looked up at Prowl and gave a happy chirp, opening her mouth wide.

"Hey, Green, feeling better this morning?"

Green opened her mouth wider, demanding a treat. Sighing with relief, Prowl opened the desk drawer and pulled out a piece of Skitter, glad Green had gotten her appetite back. He was still going to take her to Jetfire when he got back.

Prowl watched nervously as Jetfire examined Green half an hour later. On the walk to Jetfire's lab, Green had been acting like her normal self. They had passed Ironhide on the way, and he had eyed the flyt suspiciously, though she gave no indication she wanted to take another bite of him.

"She looks fine to me, Prowl", Jetfire said. He gently rubbed his thumb on the side of Green's beak. "Open up, Green. Good girl…I'd say she's perfectly healthy". Jetfire rubbed the flyt's head and she gave a low, contented chirp. "Maybe she just ate something that didn't agree with her or she was just having a bad day. They can get in bad moods just like the rest of us".

"So she's okay then?" Prowl asked as Green flew up onto his shoulder with a chirp.

"She's got a clean bill of health". Jetfire smiled.

Prowl gave another sigh of relief then both he and Jetfire jerked to attention when they heard a yell. They stepped out into the hall and saw Smokescreen standing in the door of his quarters.

"What is this?!" he yelled.

Prowl and Jetfire walked over to him.

"I come back after being on patrol all night, looking forward to getting some sleep", Smokescreen began. "And I find that in my bed!"

Smokescreen stepped aside and Jetfire and Prowl looked over at the bed. In the center of it were six, speckled eggs.

"What are they and where did they come from?!" Smokescreen demanded.

Jetfire picked one up and examined it. "These are flyt eggs!"

Everyone turned to look at Green, who was still perched on Prowl's shoulder.

"Well, I guess that explains her odd behavior!" Jetfire said.

Prowl was shocked. He had no clue Green was going to lay eggs! How had he missed something that should have been so obvious?

"Why would she come in here?!" Smokescreen yelled.

"Maybe it was the quietest place she could find". Jetfire suggested.

"Why wouldn't she have laid them in Prowl's room?!" Smokescreen was not happy about this and ignored Jetfire's suggestion "Why my room? On my bed?!"

"I don't know how you even saw them in this mess," Prowl said. "It looks like a robo-rats nest in here".

Smokescreen was about to retort, but Jetfire walked over to the bed with a box and started placing the eggs inside it.

"Flyt eggs don't require any special care", Jetfire said, handing Prowl the box of eggs. "Just put them somewhere cool and dark".

"Where would that be?" Prowl asked, he still wasn't sure how to handle the situation.

"Your storage closet would be a good place". Jetfire said, walking out of Smokescreen's room. "I'll help you set them up".

"How did she even get in here?!" Smokescreen said, looking around his cluttered room. "And what about my bed?"

"What about it?" Prowl asked.

"Are you going to clean that up or not?!"

Prowl walked over to the bed and yanked off the covering then threw it on the floor. "Done".

"You're supposed to replace the covering!" Smokescreen said. "Nevermind, I'll do it myself! Just get those things out of here!"

"That should do it!" Jetfire said, placing the box in a corner of Prowl's storage closet. He took an old towel and folded it up near the box. "When they hatch you might want to cover the top of the box with this".

"When will they hatch?" Prowl asked, taking Green and sitting her down beside her 'nest'.

"Hard to say, they can hatch anywhere from eight to ten days of being laid". Jetfire said. "Either way, you've got some waiting to do".

"What am I supposed to do with them?"

"That's up to you. You can either keep them or find homes for them. It wouldn't be hard, lots of bots love flyts".

"I had no idea she was going to lay eggs", Prowl said. "How could I have missed that?"

"It's hard to tell if a flyt is going to lay eggs". Jetfire said. "Just keep the door gaped a little so Green can go in and out if she wants. If you have any more questions, you know where to find me".

"Thanks, Jetfire". Prowl said.

Jetfire gave Green a pat on the head then exited the room.

Prowl took another look at the eggs nestled in the box. Six eggs. He knew he wouldn't be able to keep them, so it might be a good idea to start looking for homes for them as soon as possible. While he was still a little surprised by the news, he found himself feeling excited about the hatching of the baby flyts and wondered if they would be boys or girls.

But enough pet parenting, he had work to do.
