Prologue
"The Dark Lord will mark Her as his equal."
Halsey Dorea Potter was to be born as the seventh month died, born of those who thrice defied the Dark Lord, with a power the other did not. She was to be hidden away, kept away from those who would want to kill her.
Her parents on the other hand did not want this to happen, when they learnt of her to be born on the last day of July, they were determined to make sure nothing would keep them from having her and keeping her alive. She was their precious daughter, one who was born from their love. One who defied the odds, for her mother had been told she wouldn't be able to have children only for her to become pregnant with Halsey, their miracle child.
They had expected there to be a bounty on their heads, her parents.
Instead, they had been surprised when the Dark Lord (those who called him this were his faithful followers, The Death Eaters), or He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, and his fearful name Lord Voldemort, came forward and offered a proposition that made their blood run cold. An offer they would immediately refuse because they would not put their daughter through this.
Lord Voldemort had come forward with the offer of marriage, for him to marry Halsey when she would turn eighteen. He would not fight them, nor murder them or Halsey, if they would come forward and let him choose her as his future bride. He would not hurt any of their allies, The Order of the Phoenix, if they would just sign that paper which was offered to them.
They came forward eventually, once they had the head of the Order, come to them and plead for them to say yes to the offer. It was to be for the better good of the wizarding world. They would find a way to destroy the monster before Halsey's eighteenth birthday, they would make sure of it. She would never have to marry him; this was just a formality.
So, the wizarding world watched as Lily and James Potter met with Lord Voldemort on neutral ground. The monster had put a Glamor upon him, in order for everyone to see him as a beautiful wizard instead of a man with serpentine features.
He had his youthful appearance; the old English nobleman looks.
The lean but muscular figure, the big eyes that were still crimson nonetheless, with combed down black hair. Lips that were a soft pink and plump. Eyebrows groomed to perfection, eyelashes that fluttered against his cheeks when he blinked. He was a wet dream for the witches, he was what men wanted to look like, he was the devil in disguise.
Lily, with her green eyes, freckles that danced across her pale skin, and orange-red hair that fell down her back was nervous.
Her hands were pressed against the bump of her stomach, where Halsey was still growing.
There would be four more months until her child was born, and she knew Lord Voldemort would make sure to watch every step her precious daughter would take, brainwashing her into thinking that everything was natural. He would be grooming her baby, and she would have to stand on the sidelines while he was doing so. She could only hope her daughter would forgive her.
Her husband, James, was a handsome Pure-Blood Wizard that came from an Ancient and Noble House in the wizarding world. He was the Lord of his house, due to the fact that his parents had died a few years ago. They were probably rolling in their graves at the fact that their son would do this, allowing their granddaughter to be betrothed to the wizard.
He had warm brown skin, black hair that was always a mess on his head despite how many hairs potions Lily would force him to put into his hair and had a pair of his signature round glasses that suited his face. They were the kind of glasses that not every man or woman could get away with, but James got away with the look easily. He was the most handsome and charming and wonderful man in the world, in Lily's mind, and nothing would change.
They held back their tears as they signed away their daughter's future, before they went home and cried to their heart's content.
Secretly, they knew the moment Halsey would be born they would hide away.
They would have to use the Fidelius Charm, in order to keep their house hidden and assign a Secret-Keeper. Most likely they would choose James's childhood friend, and practical brother, Sirius Black, to keep the location a secret. It helped that he would end up becoming their daughter's godfather, he would kill anyone who tried to hurt Halsey.
The months went by, Halsey was born, and Lord Voldemort was not there to see the birth. The baby who was an exact clone of Lily did not have those crimson eyes on her when she was born, she was born within the house with their friends around them. The Order both celebrated her birth and wished it hadn't come.
Now, it had been a little over a year since Halsey was born, fifteen months to the exact date, and while others in Godric Hollow were running around and celebrating Halloween or Samhain when it came to the magical ones and not the non-magical ones (Muggles). They were happy, to an extent, knowing there was a death warrant upon them for not inviting Lord Voldemort to the birth of Halsey.
Halsey was sitting on her favorite blanket in front of the television screen, watching a random Halloween themed cartoon movie, when the front door was blasted open. Their worst nightmare had come true, Lord Voldemort was here. Sirius Black had ended up telling him where their location was, one of their best friends had betrayed them.
Lily grabbed Halsey from the blanket and ran up the stairs, while her husband began to fight against the man who was to be married to their infant daughter. She tried to keep from sobbing, this wasn't what she expected her life to turn out. She had thought she would have a husband she could grow old with, and see her daughter get married and eventually have children with a spouse that she wanted to be with. Not someone who was chosen for her.
She rushed into Halsey's nursery, which was decorated in pinks and had lace and frills.
It might be cliche and an eye sore but when Lily had learnt she was going to have a daughter she wanted to decorate the nursery exactly the way she wanted it. She was also thankful that her daughter ended up liking the room, and even now seemed to like it more than hanging downstairs with her parents. She was always napping on the ground, surrounded by all her magical animals.
Placing her daughter into her whitewashed wooden crib, Lily turned and faced the door, her head tilted up and arms reached out to touch the crib. Behind her Halsey was crying, bubbling and wanting her mother. Lily fought with the urge to pick her up and shush her, sooth her and tell her that everything was going to be alright. She knew that it wasn't, she was going to die fighting for her daughter and although she hated she wasn't going to be in her daughter's life any longer she was glad that she was able to have her for as long as she did.
Lord Voldemort swept into the nursery, in his true form.
His skin was as white was bone, he was bald, and he had no true lips. His eyes were narrowed and still that disturbing crimson hue. There were slits that were upon the middle of his face, instead of a healthy sized nose. His hands were skinny and were skeleton-like. He looked as though he was a snake instead of a person. It only showed how evil and disturbing he was, both inside and out.
"Step aside, Mud-Blood."
"No! Not my Halsey! Please!"
When she did not budge from her spot, he swept his hand as though to shoo her away.
She went flying and the way she landed she immediately snapped her neck. She was dead before she even hit the soft carpet. Her eyes were open, but they quickly dulled from their beautiful shade. She was gone, but at least it wasn't painful in the end. She was with her husband now, who had been given the Killing Curse downstairs after a very short battle and was sprawled out on the carpeted flooring with a similar expression as his wife.
Stepping forward, Lord Voldemort hissed at the little infant that was in the crib, lying on the pink satin mattress cover. She peered up at him and craned her head to the side, having not seen her mother dying in the corner of her eye. She was more invested in seeing who this mysterious figure was. She was not scared of him, the binding ritual that had been made between her and him when the signing had been done made it to where she was not afraid of him.
Still the wizard reached his wand up, whispering, "my dear bride, if I cannot have you, no one can."
Then he shot off the Killing Curse, hitting the baby, only for him to feel the last part of his soul separate from his body. He went flying out the broken window, while little Halsey couldn't help but pass out, not knowing that the last part of her betrothed's soul nestled itself into her.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: this is more of DIARY TOM RIDDLE JR. than it is Lord Voldemort. This has EXTREME domestic abuse. Halsey will be eventually saved and adopted the Notts (Good) instead of the Malfoys. The Purebloods are all nice people, valuing children over anything else. Dumbledore is Misguided and Manipulative. The Weasleys will try and keep adopting Halsey throughout the series.
Of course we know that Sirius did not betray Lily and James
Protective/Fatherly Snape
Hufflepuff Halsey (yeah that will go over well with Voldemort when he finds out his betrothed is in Hufflepuff)
Ravenclaw Hermione
Protective/Brotherly Cedric Diggory
Ginny still harbors a crush for Halsey. She's Bi in this story.
Millicent/ Draco pairing. Millicent and Pansy are NOT UGLY in this fanfiction. They grow into their looks later. I wanted an unexpected pairing for Draco.
This fan fanfiction will be updated at the same time as my other Harry Potter fanfiction.
Please go back to There Is Venom in Our Bones and vote between the boys I want Hortensia to be with.
as always: Harry Potter doesn't belong to me.
