Prologue

1982

The Peverell family had been one of the most interesting magical families in the wixen world.

Three Brothers made up the most important Ancestors–Antioch, Cadmus, and Ignotus, who had managed to trick Death.

The eldest brother, Antioch, had been gifted a wand by Death in which it was the most powerful wand in the world–it went by the name of the Elder Wand. The second eldest brother, Cadmus, had the Resurrection Stone, in order to speak to his dearly departed lover only for him to go insane and kill himself to be with her. The last brother, Ignotus, had gotten the Invisibility Cloak. It was so he could hide away from anyone, including Death, but eventually he greeted Death as an old friend and the cloak had been passed down throughout the generations to the eldest child of every generation.

The last known witch of the family had married a wizard, which resulted in the end of the male line of the Peverell family.

She had learnt of one of her cousins being in the company of Muggles and decided to see the way she was being treated in order to assess if she had been in a safe place instead somewhere that was horrible for her. She had left her family manor and went towards Number 4 Privet Drive, which was located in Little Whining, Surrey. Her husband had asked to follow after with her, he was quite protective, but one look from her and he relented.

Arriving at the house, she quietly but faithfully observed those that were known as the Dursleys.

The wife, Petunia, was a terrible looking woman with features of a bird. Long neck, pinched features, watery blue eyes that weren't a pretty shade, along with hair that would be terribly styled. Her husband, Vernon, was a quite obese man with a walrus mustache and worked as one of the top salesmen of a Drilling Company called Grunnings (he worked on the ninth floor). Their child, Dudley, had the same figure as his father and was a spoiled child that needed a reality check.

The witch made sure to dress in her nicest clothes, in the finest fabrics, and made sure her beautiful blonde hair was styled perfectly. She had just the right amount of makeup on her face which wasn't too much or too little and had practiced what she was going to do in the mirror. Again, she had to insist for her husband to stay back at the manor, and he knew his wife was a force to be reckoned with, he could only hope that he didn't have to learn his wife had murdered the Dursleys.

On her last visit to the family, Lady Peverell went up to the front door of the house and knocked politely. She had made sure she wasn't dressed in the fashion of the wixen world, in order for them to not slam the door in her face and for them to listen to her. She didn't have to wait that long, as Mr. Dursley had commanded his niece to answer the door.

Lady Peverell's heart stopped for a moment when a toddler opened the door.

Hecate Liliana Potter stood in front of her with vibrant red curly hair that was a mess on her head, warm chocolate eyes, and multiple freckles on her pale face. The thing that really upset the noblewoman happened to be the blossoming bruise that took up a good bit of her face. There was a split upper lip and the girl had dark circles under her eyes, evidence that she didn't sleep well in the cupboard under the stairs which was her bedroom.

"Hello, I was wondering if I could talk to the man and woman of the house. I had some important business to take care of with them," Lady Peverell said, earning a small tremble from Hecate but the girl slowly nodded her head.

As if they sensed what she had said, Vernon and Petunia Dursley appeared and narrowed their eyes at the witch. Yet after studying her for a moment they could tell she was wealthy. They let her into the house, once she had managed to charm them, her fingers brushing against the wand that was tucked on a holster underneath her silk blouse she was wearing. She mentally felt better, knowing she would use it if need be.

After ushering Hecate away, Vernon sat down in his recliner while Petunia hurried into the kitchen so she could make her special blended tea for their special guest.

Vernon cleared his throat, gaining her attention and decided to speak up, "ah…what shall we call you? It is obvious that you are from money, and have come to make a deal with us. Perhaps you wish to partner with Grunnings? Normally I would say that you should make an appointment with my secretary but if you wish to converse with me here then I will not turn you away."

Petunia rushed back into the living room and handed the tea to the witch, and as she took a sip she almost spat it out. Perhaps she pampered herself too much but this tea was horrible. She swallowed it and kept a poker face, knowing she needed to keep a straight face and mind.

"My name is Lady Sabrina Peverell. I come from an ancient House from Scotland. I would like to offer you money in order to adopt your niece. Before you say anything, I had searched through my ancestry in order to see if there are any other surviving members of my family. My people learnt that your niece happens to be a distant cousin of mine. I have the money right now, and will not bring her back, there's no way for you to worry about her ever again."

For a moment both husband and wife seemed to want to disagree with her, but Lady Peverell pulled out the actual family tree line and handed it to them.

Their eyes went larger in size when they noticed Hecate's name was indeed on the family tree.

Sadly they were upset that they were not a part of the family tree, since she was connected through Petunia's brother-in-law and not through Petunia herself or else she would have demanded more money. They wordlessly looked at each other before they nodded, having decided they would get rid of their niece for a good sum of money, also Lady Peverell said she wouldn't bring Hecate back because she didn't want her anymore! She couldn't return to them once she started doing her freaky stuff, being a witch. It was the perfect opportunity to focus their attention on Dudley and reputation.

"Girl! Get in here! You're leaving. This woman just adopted you. We don't have to worry about you anymore," Vernon declared, as the toddler came into the room, dressed in those terrible worn-out rags in which she would never have to wear again.

Hecate looked wearily at Lady Peverell and bit her lip, before whispering, "you want me? You aren't going to return me? Even if I…am not normal."

Lady Peverell nodded her head, responding, "no, my love. We are actually related, I'm your distant cousin. And I'm just like you. Just watch."

Turning her attention to Vernon and Petunia, she pulled out her wand and before they could react, she called out, "Obliviate," making sure to alter their memories into thinking they were just taking care of Hecate for the weekend while she was away. She even took away their memories of all the 'freaky things' Hecate did, to make sure nothing would happen in which they could leak information about Hecate being a witch. For them she was just a normal Muggle.

Tucking her wand back onto its holster, Lady Peverell turned and held out her hand for her new ward and hopefully her future Blood Adopted daughter to take. After a second or two, Hecate Potter came forward and put her hand into Lady Peverell. She was finally free from her aunt and uncle; she would have a new mum hopefully. One who was just like her.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: this is the last Harry Potter fanfiction I am working on for right now. Hecate does not start a relationship with anyone until her 4th year with Dumstrang student that is precious and quite shy. Everything that no one expects. From a student there. I haven't decided his name, but I like that better than her being with any of the Hogwarts Students. Since Hecate will be blood adopted, she will have blonde hair.

as always: Harry Potter doesn't belong to me.
