A/N: I haven't been as active here on FF for a while now and the reason is I started my first AO3 exclusive story. Gone, but Not Forgotten: Role Reversal is making its rounds over there but I am still writing for my stories over here and in this case a new story is about to get the green light. But before you see the prologue, you should meet the two central characters.

Character Questions: Chai (UA Reboot)

Full name: Tara the Imp

Nickname: Chai, Tea, or Chai Tea ("which is just Tea twice, but whatever"), Sand Shark (her new moniker)

Occupation: 'Loan Provider' ("I'm NOT a Loan Shark!")

Appearance: An Amazon standing at 6'3. Black curly hair goes just past her neck. Stone brown complexion with red eyes. She's also muscular but not enough to pass for a bodybuilder. You could tell Chai was athletic.

Age: 26

Mannerisms: Since Devin and Huey no longer exist in this rebooted take of Ultimate Adventure, I decided to combine aspects of Devin's behavior with Chai's. She's now more playful and prone to tease and prod others but can be as serious as her older brother. In terms of how she fights, an uneducated eye would pass Chai's fighting style as standard Impish Brutality. She's ruthless in a physical confrontation. Sharp eyes will notice there is more discipline in her motions and attacks. Sharper eyes can even make out a Kickboxing base. Her playful attitude and serious demeanor also translate into her fighting style through her movements (playful) and attacks (serious). Occasionally, she speaks her native Imp tongue when she wants to be profane (just Navajo).

What does he/she wear?: When known as Tea primarily, Chai wore a long red jacket, purple t-shirt, and large red swirl. On her legs were gray jeans with matching boots with red cuffs. The Golden Gauntlets were on her hands, allowing her to lift heavy things easily. In tandem with her new appearance, Chai's outfit received a massive change, too. She now wears a deep blue military jumpsuit, which is almost skintight fitted, but there's a bit of space so Chai's body can breathe. The top button is undone so you can see a white undershirt underneath and a swirl necklace. (My favorite part of her old design) On her feet, she has black boots tucked into her jumpsuit bottom. She still has the Golden Gauntlets, and they are under her sleeves. Occasionally, she wears a Black Duster on top of it and Black Glasses, but they are just cosmetic.

Favorite color: Blue and its various shades.

What is he/she good at?: Has an eye for business as despite being the worst detective than her brother, she was requested more. She's also more of a people person than her brother and is easier to get along with. She can also hold her own in a fight since she's in the Sharking business. ("It's NOT Sharking!") Despite no longer being a detective, Chai still retains her investigative skills, and her reputation as one allowed the clients she gets to trust her instantly. On a comedic note, she has the uncanny ability to give everyone she meets a unique nickname. She's also really flexible for someone of her height.

What is he/she bad at?: Her playful, teasing nature can get her into trouble occasionally. As well as her natural intuition and investigative skills will also get her into trouble too. Especially by the Melee Arc.

What does he/she want?: To get her and Koga out of the mess they were unwillingly thrust into.

What is his/her goal?: Find the 12 Great Heroes and eventually beat Master Hand and get out of her forced servitude.

What lie does he/she believe?: She and Koga won't find the 12 heroes in time, and become trophisized due to their failures.

What flaw results from the lie?: Showing impatience and desperation, but winning the day in the end.

What truth does he/she learn?: She was worried for nothing.

What is his/her background? "Yup, that's me! Tara is the name. But my friends call me Chai, Tea, or Chai Tea. (Tea twice, but I don't judge) I was raised in Kakariko Village alongside my older, less cool twin brother, Koga. After turning eighteen, we left Kakariko to see the world and co-founded the Tribal Detective Agency. We helped Link and Midna save the day. Being PI for seven years, I struck out independently and became a Loan Provider. Some call me a Shark, but they're just mad that I came up with the idea first."

After doing her collections for the day, shortly after meeting with her brother and agreeing to go to Telma's, the pair were forced into serving the Master Hand. Shortly after that life-altering conversation, they reconvened and devised a plan. Splitting the work in half, Chai will handle the evens of the twelve invitations they were given with nothing but the symbols on the envelope seals as her only guide.

Additional Questions for Chai?

What does Chai expect of herself when doing this mission?

She expects to get it done despite the lack of leads. Plus, she's only doing half of the work; being Koga's partner again forces Chai to be on her A-Game. Her interactions with the Smash Cast she meets/invites will be the source of much of the story's comedy.

Does being the lesser-known sibling bother Chai?

It used to, but her being a Shark (NOT A SHARK!) gave Chai a new sense of agency. And Master Hand's taking it from her has earned Chai's eternal ire. She's proud of her brother's otherworldly reputation, much like he's proud of her for finding her own purpose in life even if it is a little seedy.

Who can Chai trust other than Koga when they meet the 12 heroes?

Besides the obvious in Link? Read the story to find out.

Character Questions: Koga

Full name: Koga the Imp

Nickname: Stitches (borderline derogatory insult, but Koga ignores it) | ShinaaĆ (Older Brother) | Cyclebreaker (later moniker, won't spoil why) | World's Greatest Detective

Occupation: Private or Paranormal Investigator (PI for short) | Co-Founder of the Tribal Detective Agency

Appearance: Several inches taller than Chai standing at 6'5. Slightly darker complexion. Loose curly hair that barely goes past his chin. Crimson eyes with his most distinctive facial feature are the stitches that decorate the bridge of his nose.

Age: 26 (is two minutes older than Chai)

Mannerisms: A stoic and aloof individual. Koga's primary emotion in almost every conversation is sarcasm, even to clients. His anti-social nature only exasperates Chai's social behavior, but he does soften up to her. The reason for this is because of who he surrounds himself with. There's Chai who we know is the more lively of the two. Then there's Tatl, his Fairy Companion, who is just as much a loudmouth as Chai. Then he has his past two incarnations with whom he (unwillingly) also converses. His first incarnation was Hawk, and his last incarnation Chieftain or Chief. Each bothers him for different reasons. His natural sarcasm is accompanied by a dry sense of humor to counter Chai and Tatl's outward attitudes. Regarding fighting ability, think of Koga with the psychotic ruthlessness of Yamazaki from KOF with Kain Heinlein's discipline. Just replace Yamazaki's Death Energy and Kain's Purple Fire with Electricity and Red Fire. Then add in some Wrestling to tie it all together.

What does he/she wear?: Used to wear a golden brown jacket (at Tea's personal recommendation), a black formal shirt, gray jeans, and black cuffed boots. Koga wears either a long brown bomber jacket or a long golden brown poncho with a white exercise top underneath. On his legs are dark gray chino Pants with black boots. After he starts his forced service to the Master Hand, his shirt has the Smash Symbol on it. Didn't mention it earlier, but Chai's Swirl Necklace is replaced with a Smash Necklace.

Favorite color: Sand Brown (it reminds him of Kakoriko)

What is he/she good at?: A Master Detective with every skill that comes with being one is honed sharply. Koga is adept at reading people but admits Chai is better at this than him. (Don't let Chai know you said that) He's adaptable and skilled in making on-the-fly decisions.

What is he/she bad at?: With each of his detective partners leaving for differing reasons (Chai because she wanted to do something else, and Ayumi went to finish High School), Koga admittedly has become so used to working solo, he has problems relying on others and will overwork himself.

What does he/she want?: To get out of his serving Master Hand.

What is his/her goal?: To find the 12 Heroes and invite them.

What lie does he/she believe?: That only he can do this and no outside help can help.

What flaw results from the lie?: Koga will often work harder than normal to make up for this much to his detriment.

What truth does he/she learn?: That Chai, Tatl, Chief, and Hawk are more than willing to help. Eventually, his allies in a few heroes will also aid him.

What is his/her background?

"Hey there. I'm Koga, the older twin between myself and Chai. After she left the Agency to become a Loan Shark (she says Loaner, but it's Sharking), I initially gained a new partner in Ayumi Tachibana. However, she left to finish school. I now only have myself and Tatl as regular company if I don't have any active cases. Chai told you we're from Kakariko and are of the Imp Tribe. Kakariko has many Tribes, but as of this generation, we're short one as the Sheikah are officially extinct. Despite still living in Hyrule, I've been asked to solve cases worldwide. Doing so has earned me the unofficial moniker "World's Greatest Detective."

After refusing to become the Court Detective in Hyrule, Koga was returning to his office when he ran into his little twin sister, Chai. The pair were going to go drinking, but Master Hand decided to butt in, which changed their plans. Now they must find 12 of the world's greatest heroes and invite them to fight for the Master Hand's amusement. While this may be difficult for Chai, Koga's otherworldly experiences give him a much-needed edge in this endeavor. He'll save them both or die trying.

Additional Questions for Koga?

What are the similarities between the current Koga and his previous incarnations?

Besides the obvious in their facial appearances, there are some differences there. They all have formed some type of friendship with their Links. The level of bond varies. Chief and his Link are the closest, with Hawk and his Link in second. Leaving Koga and his Link as last but they are still good friends. They also all have Fairy Companions, though Hawk being more social than Chief and especially Koga, he wasn't given Tatl. Chief was given his incarnation of Tatl, Tatl's direct ancestor. And all three of them were close with their Zelda. But once again, the bond level differs on which incarnation we're talking about. On this aspect, Hawk had the closest bond with his Zelda, as they were on the verge of becoming a coupling. Then Koga and his Zelda is next with her saving his life allowing her a personal entry into his as well as Chai's lives. Last is Chief and his Zelda. That'll be elaborated on when we meet OoT Zelda in the Melee Arc.

Where can Koga make the most improvement in character development?

Being orphaned, forced Koga and Chai to mature fast. And seeing as he's the older of the two he had to not only be Chai's brother but father figure because while the Imp Chief took them both in and cared for them both as if they were his own children, he couldn't be there all the time. The two were inseparable in their youth so Koga feels like he holds himself to a degree responsible for Chai's actions even now. And while he has learned to let Chai be her own person, and is without question, the most proud of her for making that decision, he feels like Chai has no reason to even be involved as she's not a PI anymore.

Does Koga fear failing Chai or himself more?

Both. To him, if he fails then he fails Chai. Granted, he's going to have the easier go of it than Chai thanks to his otherworldly escapades. But still to fail this means screwing them both over and he WILL NOT have that.
