Corneria
6:15 pm - August 27 - Late Summer
It's been approximately 48 hours since the Aparoids onslaught, attacking downtown Corneria.
The city was absolutely devastated with crumbling buildings, barely intact - one building, can be seen with windows, totally blown out.
Items from various decor stores have numerous amounts and articles of clothing littered on the floor.
The few stores in the city, that actually survived the carnage, were robbed as lotters took advantage of the predicament.
Most of the buildings were completely destroyed, beyond repair.
The camera than pans to some of the worst destruction in the city.
The downtown district of Corneria - with The Cornerian Capital Building in severely, critical shape can be seen in the distance as the sun, beings to go down.
The buildings around the Capital Building, had been completely disintegrated, damage caused by some charged missed laser blasts from the Star Fox's teams arwings.
Around the district, lied a whole pile of nothing but, ash and rubble.
The actual crash site where General Pepper lied, after he was held captive as a slave for the Aparoids, coming down to the ground can be seen.
A big hole opening is still there, with the General Pepper's flagship, making almost an eerie-snow like-angel silhouette.
A flashback sequence where General Pepper's flagship came crashing down and Peppy Hare, saved him at the last feasible second - begins to play.
"GENERAL PEPPER!"
"PEPPY"
"General...are you alright?"
"Is that you Peppy...what have you done..? Ugh."
"Looks like I won't make retirement now...ugh."
"Peppy..."
"Contact the medical corps. One way or another, my duty's done."
Cornerian Brewster's Bar
The entire bar had been completely abandoned.
The building next door, to the vicinity of the bar had completely imploded and was nothing but, ash that settled on the ground.
Somehow the bar was still intact, albeit in really bad shape.
The once hanging plywood guarding the bar, was completely gone - with only a small piece of plywood, remaining in the bottom, right corner window.
The glass windows to the bar were splattered and destroyed all over the street.
From a distance, a gaping hole was off, if you looked west of the bar.
From there, we get introduced to a female pink/fuchsia blue jay, casually walking up to the bar.
"Look at this mess. I can't believe this." She remarked.
It was Dee Dee Resaro.
Dee Dee opened up the door to the bar, without the need of a key and walked in.
Vintage beer bottles were broken all over the floor.
No one else was in sight as Dee Dee sighed in exhaustion, beginning her work with cleaning up the joint.
10 Minutes Later
After some time of cleaning up the bar, Dee Dee managed to get the electricity to the bar, back at a working order.
"At least, the lights still work." Dee Dee sighed.
Cleaning up the aftermath of the Aparoid's ambush on the city, wasn't an easy task.
The bathroom sink to the bar, had been left on with running water - the toilet right next to the sink, had feces that hadn't been flushed down the toilet.
"Likely forgotten by a stricken individual." Dee Dee said, rolling her eyes, flushing the toilet.
Sudden foot wear could be heard from where the front greeting guest "WELCOME" sign was at, as people would usually make orders at in the bar.
Dee Dee Resaro was far as back as you can get in the back of the bar.
"Huh?" Dee Dee said overhearing the footsteps.
Silence for a split second.
A chair being toppled over can be heard, in the background.
"Hello?" Dee Dee said, pulling out a pistol in the right pocket, to the holster of her belt.
"Aaah!" An all too familiar voice shuttered.
Dee Dee pointed the gun to the individual's head.
"DEE DEE!" Falco yelled.
"..F-Falco." Dee Dee quickly, replied.
She pulled the gun away from his head and placed it back, in her holster.
"What brings you here? You never liked working here." Dee Dee said, picking the chair back up, Falco tripped over.
"It's nothing. I just wanted to check up on you, as we were the only two employees working here before, the Aparoids attacked." Falco said, cleaning dust from the bar parlor.
"I'm surprised, you haven't got yourself in trouble and lost the goody-goody-two-shoes act." Dee Dee added.
"Well, when you try to save the world, and General Pepper called for us to get rid of those, Aparoids vermin's, I had no choice but, too." Falco added.
Scene Transition
The two worked as a cohesive unit, during the evening and continued cleaning up the joint.
"Whatever happened to Katt Monroe...?" Dee Dee asked.
Falco rolled his eyes and blatantly ignored her.
Dee Dee got up from where she wat, bended down cleaning up more of the bar, and tugged Falco by the shoulder.
"Falco Hector Lombardi." Dee Dee remarked.
"Ah, Dee Dee." Falco said, looking stoned as Dee Dee called him by his middle name.
"All I needed from you, is to know, what and more about that Katt Monroe chick." Dee Dee said.
"Well...we're dating off and on." Falco said.
"I need more in general information than that, you boy toy." Dee Dee added.
"Well, Katt Monroe got her license revoked. That's why she didn't help us out, while we were making mincemeat of the Aparoids." Falco said.
"What did you she do, exactly?" Dee Dee questioned.
"She was caught stealing an engagement ring...for us...while the Aparoids attacked downtown Corneria." Falco said.
A flashback scene, not shown in Assault - in shown to the viewers at home.
"She was-" Dee Dee said, before Falco interrupted her.
"She did it, right in front of the chief-in-staff justice member of General Pepper. We have a customary store like that to make wedding rings, in the academy." Falco continued.
"Go on." Dee Dee said, intrigued by his story.
"She was short a few dollars, blamed me over the phone that I wasn't paying for any of it. And she stole it from them, right as the Aparoids attacked." Falco said.
The flashback concluded.
"And...you're not wearing it." Dee Dee said.
"I haven't had time. I hated the lime green color of it. Reminds me..." Falco said, struggling with making words come out of his mouth.
"Reminds you of what?" Dee Dee asked.
"Leon." Falco said, rolling his eyes.
"I don't buy that." Dee Dee quickly noticed and replied, giving Falco a hug.
"It's Preston Patoliano." Falco sighed.
"I...think he's the yearbook editor of the High School we went to right?" Dee Dee thought processed.
"He is." Falco sighed, in retaliation.
"What happened?" Dee Dee questioned.
"I had a massive falling out with him. It was something that had to do with me, Spencer and Kabite back in elementary school." Falco sighed.
"And you despised the green color." Dee Dee added.
"The last words I had with Preston right before, we graduated was I was green with envy." Falco said.
"Not an original way of words." Dee Dee said.
"...He said more than just that." Falco said, brushing his feathers and hair back.
Silence for a brief moment before, Dee Dee tried to bring Falco's spirit back up.
"So...Falco Hector Lombardi." Dee Dee remarked.
"Why, Dee Dee? Just, why?" Falco sighed.
"Hey, it can't be that bad of a middle name." Dee Dee said.
"It's not." Falco and Dee Dee said in unison.
"Just don't call Spencer Carlos Gator by his middle name either. In fact, don't do that for anyone." Falco said glaring at Dee Dee.
"I can see why you and Spencer are friends. Both Italian blood it seems." Dee Dee said.
"Well, define blood and-never mind." Falco said, shaking his head, locking eyes with Dee Dee.
The two stared at each other for a brief second.
"Dee Dee..." Falco sighed.
"Or don't hide the fact that Slippy's real name is Timothy. I already checked the files." Dee Dee said.
"DEE DEE!" Falco shrieked at her.
"Falco...about that Katt Monroe chick." Dee Dee said.
"Y-yes?" Falco asked.
"You like her, don't you?" Dee Dee asked him.
"...I do." Falco said with some hesitation.
"I know you do. You have her on your Top 8 on your MyPal page." Dee Dee asked.
"Yeah. I'm 6 foot 2 and I weigh 175 pounds." Falco said, reminding Dee of the stats, he posted on his MyPal page.
"Yeah and I'm 5 foot 8 and 130 pounds." Dee Dee snapped at him.
"Hey, where's your parents at?" Falco asked.
"I asked both of my dad and my mom to seek refuge and bail out of the city, as soon as possible. Yours?" Dee Dee said.
Falco tried to hurriedly, think of some kind of response but, couldn't.
"Forget I asked." Dee Dee said, seeing the anguish on Falco's face.
"Gladly." Falco added.
"Let me go back to Katt for a sec." Dee Dee said.
Falco placed one of his feathered hands on his forehead, wondering know, what else Dee Dee wanted to know.
"You and Katt like each other. You have her hung on your shoulder, in your profile picture." Dee Dee said.
"Well, it's mutual but, nothing more that. I left a comment that I didn't like the wedding ring, she got and she should get a blue one instead but...I got no response yet." Falco said.
"Harsh." Dee Dee said, rolling her eyes.
"And you-" Falco said, before being interrupted by her.
"Ah-drop it, boy." Dee Dee snapped back.
Some undisclosed time passes, as the bar is cleaned up by the pair, back at an ordering order as much as the two of them could, like it usually would look.
"Well, it's not spotless but, it will do for now." Falco said.
"Let be put up these curtains. Always been around in storage in the back, for a couple of years." Dee Dee pulling out, a red package, with the ends of the curtain sticking out.
"Do you think you can do it, later?" Falco asked.
"It's fine. I think you should go back to the Star Fox team and help them out." Dee Dee added.
"Well I-" Falco said.
"It's the least you can do. I still need to get MY arwing back to a working order." Dee Dee continued.
"That was unfortunate that you were at the race track, when it happened." Falco said.
"Yes, I had to hide and lock myself in a bathroom at the racetrack, while that whole turmoil was going on." Dee Dee sighed.
Dee Dee had placed the curtains, up successfully herself.
"Falco, I'm just curious about one last thing." Dee Dee, said placing the chair she was standing on, putting up the curtains back in the bar, where it belonged.
"Hmm?" Falco said, raising an eyebrow.
"On your MyPal page...the Star Wolf team." Dee Dee said.
"Yeah. I know it's weird. I'm friends with Wolf on MyPal but, not Leon and Panther. Never Leon in a million years." Falco said.
"No. I meant. There were two girls in the photo...have you ever seen them before?" Dee Dee said.
"Oh, no. Wolf posted that. I didn't notice that photo until we got back. We never had a party to celebrate. The whole city is in ruins-" Falco said.
As Falco continued to talk?
Dee Dee was lurking through the profiles of Katt, Leon and Panther.
Katt was listed as 5 foot 6 and 135 pounds.
Leon was listed as 6 foot 1 and 165 pounds.
Panther was listed as 6 foot 1 and 170 pounds.
Dee Dee looked on her phone and noticed, a short 5-foot-4 yellow-orange Phoenix bird and a fairly tall grey-green 5-foot-7 Grasshopper in the photo.
Wolf is standing in the middle, with the yellow girl on the left, the grey girl on the right, with Leon in the far left and Panther in the far right of the photo.
"That yellow one is stalking your MyPal page." Dee Dee said.
"How do you know, that?" Falco asked.
"Oh, please. Why does that "People You May Know" section exists on that website for anyway?" Dee Dee said.
"Well...umm...what else would it be used for?" Falco said.
"Exactly. And you never log out of your profile, here at the bar." Dee Dee added.
"Um, I think I should get going now." Falco said, logging out of his MyPal profile at the bar's computer.
"Yeah, and Slippy, Krystal and even Fox are somehow friends with Wolf on MyPal. Leon and Panther are friends with Fox, Slippy and Krystal and not you. " Dee Dee added.
"Enough. I should get going now. Like right this second." Falco said.
"Quiet bird. What was that?!" Dee Dee said mocking Falco, with dialogue heard in mission 3 of Assault.
Falco ran out of the door, before placing his hand and looking back at Dee Dee.
"Do you need me for anything else?" Falco questioned the magenta blue jay.
"No, I'm fine." Dee Dee said.
Falco quickly gave Dee Dee a hug and Dee Dee hugged him back.
The two hugged. Yay.
"Will you be okay?" Falco asked."
"I'll be fine." Dee Dee nodded in return.
"Okay." Falco said.
"Okay, later." Dee Dee said.
"See ya." Falco said, running off in the distance.
And with that, it had only been 48 hours since Corneria was attacked by the Aparoids and a mere 6 hours, after the Aparoid Queen was killed.
It was a long road to recovery.
And only then, shortly - a week later our heroes would have no idea, who they would be up against afterwards.
Bulletstrane.
