Chapter 1
Since Buffy conquered Hell Mouth along with time passing. Angel rebuilt his office, and Spike had stayed around. He never really told Angel what he would do when they closed at night. Things seemed very quiet these days, and not many slayers were around. Spike neglected to tell Angel that he had met someone. They have known one another for quite some time.
He knew by scent that she was a slayer but was waiting for her to admit it. She had long dark hair and was built like Buffy was. Spike was out drinking at the bar and happened to run into her. From there, they had become friends. Tonight, she would meet him so they could drink out in the evening.
"Spike, you could have at least told me this was in a graveyard." She tossed him a beer.
He caught it, opening it, taking a sip. "I'd doubt you'd come if I did."
He watched her as she sat on a bench from one of the graves. Spike had developed feelings and was attracted to her. He had time allowing himself to get over Buffy since he had felt anything for anyone. He kept his distance, not being close to anyone, until he decided to take a chance with her.
"Nah, look, I've known for a while that you're a vampire. There's something different about you." Lena sat next to him.
"Just a fella who fought for his soul for someone who didn't love him." Spike said, drinking his beer.
"She was a slayer, wasn't she?"
"Wait, how did you know?" Spike asked her a little surprised.
"Just a guess, I think you figured me out. Sometimes I don't know what I am," Lena sighed.
Spike set his beer down a little, unsure of what she was trying to explain. "You're a slayer. I already knew that."
"My mother was attacked by a vampire when she was pregnant with me. I did some research when I traveled with a man named Giles a while back."
Spike knew that name quite well, knowing he worked with Buffy and was her watcher. "I know him, Buffy's watcher." Spike looked at her.
"I've heard about her. He said that because of what happened to my mom, I may be stronger than the average slayer. He said it's something about genetics." Lena said, finishing her beer.
"We would have needed you in the battle we had." Spike replied.
"Sorry, I wasn't aware or living here." Lena shrugged.
"Vampire with a soul usually not very likely. Angel has one too, not by choice or fought for it like myself," Spike said, trying to make him look bad.
"Very funny," Angel said, coming up to them.
"You must be Angel," Lena said, standing up and admiring his good looks.
"I am, and you are?" He asked her. Spike couldn't help how Angel was trying to be charming, sighing, and rolling his eyes.
"Lena." Angel knew immediately by scent that she was a slayer. He looked at Spike a moment.
"I'll explain later." Spike looked at Angel a little annoyed.
Angel could easily tell who she was. It had been a while since he had seen a slayer pass through. He hasn't seen Buffy since the fight with hell mouth. From what he could remember, most of the slayers were dead or hard to come by. Vampires started to become smarter and killed many of them. Lena could tell that Angel must have had a soul as well.
"So you guys kill your own kind?" Lena asked them.
"Yes, but we both took an oath to make sure everyone was safe," Angel explained.
It was interesting how these guys seemed to be different than most. "Isn't that breaking some sort of rule or something with vampires?"
"I don't follow the rules, love." Spike looked at her. Angel could tell that Spike seemed to really have feelings for her. The way he looked at her, and he noticed how close he stood next to her. It was enough to convince him that he was over Buffy.
"Excuse me," Lena went off to talk on her phone.
Angel's attention turned to Spike. "You like her, don't you?"
Spike sighed at that hating that Angel was questioning him. "What's it to you, mate? I've had time to get over Buffy. She's the only one who has treated me like I'm normal."
"Buffy treated you normal."
"You're really off your bird. She didn't, I was nothing but a thing to her. Guess now I realize even getting a soul was pointless."
"Wait a second, you did it to prove something?" Angel asked him.
"It doesn't matter anymore, I've moved on, remember?" Spike reminded him not wanting to get into it.
Angel rolled his eyes at that sighing. Lena walked towards them, seeing both men standing there. "I need to get home. It was nice meeting you, Angel," Lena said nicely.
"You need us to walk you home?" Angel offered.
"I can manage to see you later." Lena left walking the other direction. Spike caught up to her.
"Figured I'd make sure you get in.' He said, walking next to her.
"Right, you know Angel reminds me of those hot guys on those underwear commercials and bill boards," Lena looked at him.
"You've got to be kidding me? He's such a whiner," Spike insulted him.
They made it all the way to her place as he followed her to her door. "Well, it looks like you made it in one piece I should be going."
Lena unlocked the door and grabbed Spike's hand. "You don't have to go."
He noticed her hand holding when he stopped to look back at her. Whatever feelings he had when he was in love with Buffy were quickly developing. It was a feeling he thought he wouldn't get back.
They walked in, and he saw her large apartment with a lot of space. He shut the door behind them. "Not bad." Spike looked around, seeing how large it was.
"Thanks, it's a two bedroom. Look, you're welcome to stay." Lena offered.
She excused herself to go change. Spike went on ahead and took her up on her offer. It was nice to stay in a nice place for once. After a few minutes, she came out in a short sleeve shirt and shorts. Lena noticed Spike in his black T-shirt with his jacket on the couch.
Lena walked up to him, looking into his eyes. She loved his British accent and the way he looked. To her, he was very good-looking. "I'm surprised women haven't thrown themselves at you," Lena said, admiring him.
Spike chuckled a little. "Not exactly. If you knew the things I've been through, you would see differently."
"Nah, I don't judge because of your past," Lena said nicely. Spike appreciated that coming from her. He knew his feelings for her had become more than what they had been. They have gotten to know each other as he was able to keep some of his history he shared to a minimum. Now that he had feelings for her, he felt comfortable telling her.
He followed her to her room as she got in bed. Spike sat on the bed next to her. "You're the first person I've really talked to in quite some time. When I knew Buffy didn't love me, I kept to myself and stayed away from everyone. Then I met you, and I thought a pretty one like yourself would tell me to bugger off."
"You think too much," Lena said, yawning.
"You should rest." Spike said, getting ready to stand up.
"Spike."
"Yes."
"Will you lay here with me?" That all sounded too familiar to him. Instead of leaving, he got in bed from the other side, lying next to her. She drifted off to sleep, and for once, he felt wanted.
