Shigeo Kagayama, or better known as Mob, was born into a modest home with two parents and a younger brother. His planet, Aetius, was a rather advanced civilization with considerable technology for mining and manufacturing. The planet was located at the Eastern Fringe of the galaxy around the Ultima Segmentum and was yet to be rediscovered by the Imperium of Man, which gave it free reign over itself and its dealings. The planet had a massive city that spanned a third of the planet, though it was far more hospitable than hive cities of a similar size. It was a rare planet that was self-sufficient, but the main draw of the planet to other nobles or off-worlders would be the casinos, brothels, and other pleasantries for the well off. Such a place would obviously draw in those who worship the ruinous powers. This, however, was not the reason why the Inquisitor Mordo von Kurg of the Ordo Malleus and his very small band of retinue had traveled to this world.
Mordo was on the eastern fringe of the galaxy when he and his companions felt an incredible surge of emotion and warp energy on a planet further into the region. This surge of warp energy was powerful enough to blow away a warp storm that had hidden it from the Astronomican. This is what led to his discovery and investigation of this yet to be rediscovered imperial planet. This did pose a small issue of the planet not being loyal or aware of the Imperium of Man. This meant he had to be stealthy until he knew if this planet was even salvageable.
For those who join the Ordo Malleus, it is common for them to be powerful Psykers or for those with no particular affinity toward the warp, they had mystics or other companions with such a connection. Mordo is an incredibly loyal member of the Ordo Malleus and is driven by raw vitriol for the daemons of the warp. Mordo himself was a rather limited Psyker but this was mitigated by the fact he was an empath and had great control over his small repertoire of abilities over the warp. It is because of being an empath that Mordo had been chosen to be an apprentice, and eventual inquisitor. His ability to feel the suffering and despair of others in the face of chaos is what hardened him against them and left him driven to root out their horrid existence.
But this did not mean he worked alone, for an Inquisitor it is imperative to have an abundance of resources to draw upon and trustworthy helpers was necessary for those who hope to live to serve the Emperor for any extended amount of time.
"Are you really going to go alone?" An older woman with a scarred face asked Mordo in an annoyed inflection.
"I don't have an abundance of noble clothes, not to mention I'd rather not lose my pilot, astropath, and navigator because they wanted to run around in a city." Mordo responded as he packed ammo for his Psycannon Bolter Pistol underneath his robes.
"Your funeral."
Blending into the general populace was not difficult, with noble wear and access with functionally infinite wealth, the officials did not ask past surface level questions. Mordo spent the first few weeks searching for cultist leads, places where heretical rituals would be performed but with little success. But there had been a pattern he had caught onto. Wherever he had felt a raise in warp power, there would be a spike in energy and they would vanish. This could mean a number of things, but no answer was clear until he himself could see it.
It was in one of these instances that Mordo was able to finally track down the place of interest. This was inside an abandoned building far from major populations. It didn't take long to find out it was a place for a cult of Slaanesh. Used drugs, violated corpses, and spilled blood and wine littered the entire building. Upon entering the place of corruption the sound of a fight was very much audible in the floor above.
"You're sooooo young~ Why don't you smile? If you won't, at least let me carve one onto that pretty face!" A Daemonette taunted as they charged at a teenage boy with a bowl-cut.
"No thank you." The boy responded with a completely monotone voice and bland expression.
A bright flash of multicolored light erupted from the boy's hand as the charging Daemonette's form was completely engulfed by the light and banished back into the warp.

"Aw, I was hoping to have fun with you with my sister, but I'll gladly have you all to myself!" A second Daemonette said aloud as they closed the gap toward the boy with unnatural speed.
The boy rushed to create a psychic barrier around himself, but just before he could do so, a bolter round was fired and tore through the torso of the Daemonette. Its form started to distort and twist.
"Wh-what is thi-" was all the daemon could muster before another bright flash of light, created by the boy, banished the creature back to the warp.

Mob turned towards where the projectile was fired and saw a figure on the stairway up, they looked to be a nobleman that held a weapon in one hand. Mob could see the ammunition was charged with psychic energy, and the noble was also a user of psychic energy. Mordo on the other hand was staring at the boy with extreme caution with his Psycannon Bolt Pistol aimed at him. Using his witchsight he could see that this child was obviously a psyker, but his aura was an oddity. When he saw the boy use his abilities he saw a powerful and intense multicolored aura but he currently only faintly gave off a neutral aura, one that would imply something far weaker than what would be reasonably possible. A similar case with the boy's emotions. When the teen used his psychic powers to attack the daemons he could feel a cocktail of different emotions coming from him, but as of right now, he couldn't feel a single emotion from the psyker.
"You're an ESPer just like me, are you a good one?" the boy said without even looking worried about the weapon pointed towards him.
Normally, when an Inquisitor is made aware of or makes contact with an unsanctioned psyker, they would immediately be put down as to not allow just a dangerous and unstable individual live. But Mordo did not have a 'kill on sight' mindset for those unsanctioned psykers who showed some semblance of control over their powers or some sanity left in their head. This boy not only showed some amount of control but seemed completely coherent.
"You are an unsanctioned psyker, I suggest you surrender yourself so you may be judged for your usefulness." Mordo announced with authority in his voice.
The boy stared at the man for a moment before raising his hands.
"Ok." Was all he responded with.
The boy didn't argue nor did he cause trouble as Mordo cuffed the boy and brought him to his ship. As the two boarded the grounded spacecraft, he was surprised to see both his Astropath and Navigator companions waiting for them.
"What is the meaning of this?" Mordo asked sternly.
"That boy is the source of the ripples in the warp." The Navigator said while pointing his webbed finger at Mob.
"I am well aware of that."
"Then why did you bring back an unsanctioned psyker onto the ship?" The Astropath asked the Inquisitor with genuine confusion.
"I will elaborate later, as of now I need to ask this psyker some questions."
The other two speakers simply nodded their heads in agreement. Finishing that interaction, Mordo hurried along the young psyker into a secluded portion of the ship where he locked him into a cell.
"Now then…" Mordo spoke in a much calmer voice. "I have questions for you."
"I'll try to answer them the best I can." The boy replied in a soft monotone voice.
"What is your full name?"
"My name is Shigeo Kageyama."
"What were you doing in that building?"
"I was trying to stop a small group of ESPers from summoning evil spirits. But I was a bit late and they were able to summon two of those nasty ladies, but you came in and helped me exorcize them."
"You see them as evil spirits?"
"That's what my master told me they were."
"Who and what is your master?"
"His name was Reigen Arataka, he taught me how to control my powers and taught me how to exorcize evil spirits."
"Is he one of these 'ESPers' you refer to?"
Shigeo grew silent for a few seconds before he responded again. "No, he wasn't an ESPer, he just lied about being one…"

"Where is he now?"
"He's dead."

"I see. Now these 'evil spirits' do they speak to you?"
"Only when they're summoned."
"You don't hear voices or whispers sometimes?"
"No."
"Do you feel uneasy or have trouble thinking when looking at evil spirits?"
"No."
"Have you ever been possessed by an evil spirit?"
"No, everytime they would try to, they would be blocked by my psychic powers."
"You would block them out?"
"No, they just wouldn't be able to get into my head."
As the conversation continued Mordo felt more and more uneasy. Not from the boy himself, but by his answers and claims. A psyker ignorant to the nature of daemons? One that cannot be touched or even reached by the whispers of temptations and one that can banish them with ease. It can't be, right? That's just Thorian nonsense… right? Mordo pushed such thoughts out of his mind as he finished his questioning.
It seems this boy does have a family, a younger brother and two parents. According to the boy they are aware of his powers but do not know of what he calls 'evil spirits' which would mean if he's telling the truth, they can be spared from being executed or have their memories wiped.
"I'm sorry sir, but it's getting pretty late. My family is probably wondering where I am." The young psyker announced to Mordo with a subdued tone.
Mordo was going to outright deny the request on instinct, but if this child is who he might think it is… it was likely all just superstitious nonsense, but he wanted to talk with other Thorian inquisitors before he did something rash and provoked or lost a useful psyker.
"I would like to talk to you more about what you and your master did in the past."
Mob nodded his head in agreement, and with that Mordo released the boy from the cell and escorted him out to make sure his other acquaintances didn't attack him. Mordo undid the cuffs on the boy, and as Mob walked off ship, the Navigator stared daggers at the Inquisitor as he did so.
"Inquisitor, what are you doing? You've brought him on your ship and locked him up so why did you let that psyker go?" The Navigator questioned.
"I have a suspicion that boy isn't just another run of the mill psyker. I might have an idea of what he could be, but before I am certain I need to ask questions of other Inquisitors I know. As for the ship, it's clear he did not know what we are nor did we name what we do." Mordo responded coldly.
"I pray you know what you're doing." The Navigator finally said before heading back to the lower deck of the ship.
Mordo remained silent before walking to establish communications via his Astropath.
"Alexio, are you here?" Mordo asked as he reached the top-most layer of the ship.
"Yes Mordo, is there something you need of me?" The Astropath asked as he turned to greet the Inquisitor.
"Prepare to send a message to Orva Tax."
"The Thorian?"
"Yes, I need answers from her."
"As you wish, what would you have me send?"
"I need you to inquire about any information on the 'Divine Avatar' they may know."
Mob opened the door of his family's room to be greeted by his mother's voice.
"Shigeo, you're home late! What happened sweetheart?"
"Nothing mom, I got busy and it took up a lot of time." Shigeo responded with his soft voice.
"You spend a lot of time with that mister Reigen and he hasn't been paying you very much, you should start looking for another job!"
"I'm sorry mom, I'll try to get home earlier."
"Well, your dinner is in the fridge. Your father will be home soon, make sure to go to bed as soon as possible." Shigeo's mother said as she finished packing everything she needed for her job in the mines.
"Yes mom."
The older woman gave the young teen a kiss on the forehead before walking out of the room and to make her way outside of the housing building.
Mob simply took out the food his mother prepared and started to eat it cold as he thought of today's events. He had met some other ESPers in the past, but these people had a calmer aura. Their aura wasn't flooded with horrid colors and emotions, instead they were more… controlled. Perhaps that's the reason he followed them, even when the man clearly wanted to contain him for some reason.
Well, truth be told, Mob knew why he was being contained. All the other ESPers Shigeo had met would always have the chance of losing control of their power or being possessed by evil spirits. With those things in mind, it would only make sense to make sure he wasn't going to lose control of his powers and hurt everyone on the ship.
It didn't take long for Shigeo to finish his food, after quickly washing the container he made his way to his room. Tomorrow is when he'll talk to the ESPer again, hopefully he can learn more about him. He'd never seen anyone like that on the planet before, and that was interesting to the teen. Perhaps they could help him like master Reigen did. Shigeo let out a yawn as his body signaled it was time to sleep. His mind wandered a bit as he laid in bed, just like it did every night, the thoughts of how dangerous his powers and how they terrify him took centerfold in his mind. But not long after, sleep overtook him.
