Stargate Atlantis

Accidental Boost

Chapter One

(A Brief note I do not own Stargate or its associated products. Also please forgive any grammar and spelling errors I am Dyslexic and even with a spell checker it is difficult for me to see them.)

-(-)-

Footsteps echo in cavernous, abandoned spaces and the West Pier of Atlantis had been abandoned for quite some time. At least it had been as John Shepard carefully stalked its halls, he became acutely aware of that fact.

You see John Sheppard had an issue, and this time it wasn't just the Wraith.

One of his crew had been acting suspiciously, Lt Tom Davis a British Royal Marine. John did not know how long it had been going on, mainly because Lt Davis was on the night shift, but the young Lieutenant had been diapering for hours at a time but always returned before the end of the shift.

Sometimes he was in one of the labs tinkering with something but most of the time he was in one of the hangers, Hanger 3 to be exact the one farthest away from the central spier and in the centre of the West Pier.

Now this was not anything out of the ordinary a lot of the crew spend their time exploring the city and for many of the scientists sticking their noses into potentially dangerous labs. But for a fighting man with a scientific background ending after high school, it was very strange. So, John Teyla and Ford were following the man to his secret.

"No, Sparky not yet we don't know what effect it would have on the device," he said talking as if using a communicator.

"McKay." Whispered John He tapped his ear as hid behind a pillar using hand signals to indicate to his team to do the same "Who is he talking to?" he was whispering as quietly as he could while they shadowed the man. The Royal Marines were not known for being sloppy and even his own Spec Ops training could not compare to theirs.

"I don't know." he replied after a few seconds "Maybe he's just talking to himself."

"No, he's talking to someone." Replied Teyla her acute ears were better honed for quiet sounds than most humans given her upbringing.

"Well, we can't detect it." Replied Dr McKay

"Maybe he's talking to the Wraith." It was Sergeant Bates the paranoid intelligence agent who had been the first to notice the man's suspicious movements after months on the base.

"First Teyla now Lt Davis." Replied Sheppard "How about we save the unfounded accusations for later Sergeant." They slowly grew closer; it was potentially dangerous, but they needed to know the other side of the conversation.

"The one reactor should be enough to get it working again." they heard as they slowly closed in on him. "We've been over this the replacement parts are installed, and the damage has been repaired." They slowly grew closer, as they did so they could make out another voice.

"After the punishment you put it through, I'm surprised that we have enough left to fix." John looked at his friends. They each shook their heads none of them could identify the voice, but it was an earth accent, but it sounded like a Scottish Uncle Phil.

"That's a gross oversimplification and you know it." Lt Davis replied.

"And yet the dampeners needed to be replaced."

"Is it fixed?"

"Yeah, just now."

"Excellent, I want it fuelled and ready We'll take her out to see the Ancient Orbital Defence Platform Shepherd and his team found on Wednesday." That gave the team pause "If we can get that up and running it will change the game."

"The engines are warmed up and ready as soon as you arrive."

"Sparks you are indeed a prince."

"So, I'm told." Sparks replied. There was a tell-tale click and the team assumed that the communication had terminated as they closed, they saw him disappear.

"McKay we've lost him." Shouted John as he ran to the spot where the young Lieutenant.

"What do you mean you lost him?"

"he just vanished."

-(-)-

Since the accident, Tom Davis has been living his best life. He had built some robot friends and had built a ship he only ever dreamed about having before a Danube Class Runabout and while it was no Enterprise it was a solid start and something a lot more tactical than the classical Puddle Jumper.

His robot friends had designed after Exocomps with elements of the Astro Mech he created them to help with his construction projects and they had taken a life on their own of which he was enormously proud.

They had helped him build his Runabout using recycled parts of the Puddle Jumper It had been a lot of fun like the Scrap Heap challenge but with less rust and more crystals.

His boost had allowed him to get a portion of the industrial sector back and running again he was sure that this would help Atlantis as a whole.

The Runabout had been powered up and ready to go thanks to Sparks his first Exocomp. The journey today would take them to the Ancient Orbital Defence Platform and would be the first test of the hyperdrive that he and his mech gang had built.

The ship was powered by a horizontal matter-antimatter reactor as well as three ancient-designed Naquadah Generators. It had taken extraordinarily little time to find the designs for them even if they were in the historical section of the Ancient Database, It helped that he used the chemical formula.

This gave the Runabout the weapons power output closer to a Nova Class Starship than a standard Runabout and for a ship of its size that is a significant boost. The in-built warp drive was capable of hitting Warp 6 at max with a cruising speed of Warp 4.5.

The Hyperdrive was the real beauty of the ship, While it was the same size as the drive used on the Goa'uld cargo ship with the immense power inside of it, the hyperspace window was for an interstellar type of drive, but its speed means that it could be an intergalactic hyperdrive with some modifications.

He sat behind the main pilot station on the right-hand side of the ship though it could be piloted from either of the two seats at the station. He had set up the cock pit to the design standard of the later season runabouts, the transporter had been moved into the mid-section of the ship to not clutter up the cock pit.

In between the two consoles, there was a small platform similar to the Ancient Puddle Jumpers was the ATA Gene Key, he placed his hand on the device powering the device up just as Sparkie plugged himself into the left console and deployed control sticks for the ship.

He tapped a few buttons on the console and the ship clocked, Another few buttons tapped later, and the vast hanger doors opened. They had been designed for the automated supply ships, they would bring in large shipments of equipment or food that couldn't be brought via Stargate and were not important for a full warship.

They were originally the size of two Goa'uld Alkesh ships side by side and two nose to tail they had truly immense cargo-carrying capacity, but the Wraith had destroyed them all a few years into the war.

This forced military ships to function as supply ships as well spreading already thin forces even thinner.

The Runabout rose gracefully and as the doors finished opening, he engaged the impulse drive and activated the cloak, then activated the hyperdrive for a micro-jump, Jumping directly into orbit he then input the coordinates for the Lagrangian Point satellite and headed out at warp two.

-(-)-

"Something just appeared in orbit." Shouted McKay as Sheppard and the rest of the team arrived. His fingers danced over the laptop console and the screen in front of him showed a blue dot appearing in orbit before the sensors detected a hyperspace window and the blue dot vanished. "It's gone."

"It jumped into hyperspace?" asked Dr. Weir

"No, the computer read it as an FTL jump." He replied his eyes locked onto the screen of his computer and then to the sensor scanner.

"Did you see what it was?" asked Sheppard "Was it Wraith or something else."

"No, but it registered as friendly." He replied swivelling his chair to face the Major. "But it was around two times larger than the Puddle Jumper."

"Could Lt Davis have found a ship of some type, maybe an Ancient troop transport or cargo ship like a Tel'Tak?" Asked Dr Wier

"It's possible, We haven't mapped out the city fully, yet he could have found an Ancient ship of some type and taken it out on a joy ride." Replied the scientist.

"he said he was going to check out the Lagrangian Point satellite." Said Ford "That's within range of the sensors right."

"It is." Said McKay as he turned back to the computer "We'll be able to tell us that he's there."

"If you can tell where he is then you can tell us when he's headed back here." Asked the Major, McKay nodded "And we'll be waiting for him when he returns, we just need to find out where he'll land."

"I think that I may have a lead on that." He said as he pulled up the schematic map of Atlantis.

-(-)-

The Lagrangian Point satellite was one of the most beautiful objects he had ever seen, It was a snowflake-like design that was taller and wider than a Ha'Tak mothership and designed for only one purpose the defence of Atlantis.

You could see the clear design language that the Atlanteans used when constructing it.

Lt Davis's sensors had indicated the damage to the satellite was minimal. It took a glancing blow that messed with the capacitor and shut the weapon down or the failsafe did at least. It was repairable and the current generation of Naquadah Generators could do it easily.

"Are you seeing what I'm seeing my friend?" He asked his robot companion.

"I'm seeing it better than you are." The deep rumbling voice replied.

"We'll do a full orbit scanning this satellite to see if it only needs a Naquadah Generator," he said as he input the commands on the console allowing the autopilot to do most of the work while he set the sensitivity of the sensors. "then we'll head back put a plan together and get started fixing this."

"I'll keep an eye on the long-range sensors."

The ship completed three full orbits of the satellite; they bombarded the platform with their sensors taking the most comprehensive look at the weapons platform since its construction because with the power off it would be exceedingly difficult to access the schematics onboard the satellite.

"This is a work of art." Said Lt Davis as he watched the high-resolution deep scanning image on his console. "Look at those capacitors!" he exclaimed, "this must be what O'Neill based his capacitor on when he had that head sucker accident or at least a cruder version of it."

"Indeed." Replied Sparky "The Ancients had a strange obsession with melding athletics and lethality." Its stubby little horns twitched slightly as it spoke.

"I agree." Replied Lt Davis "but I do appreciate the artistry behind it."

"I will never understand the Organic need to convey emotion through design."

"I suppose you would have just made it look like a cannon."

"Better function over form." it replied, "If I'm designing a weapons platform, I want it to look like a weapon, not like a brutalist interpretation of a flower or snowflake or whatever other flight of fancy that takes over your organic mind."

"Now where would be the fun in that, my friend."

"The fun would be in swift elimination of your enemy."

When they finished the last orbit, they manoeuvred the ship around to head back to Atlantis.

"So, Warp or Hyperdrive Sparky." He asked his Robot companion whose little copper-coloured horns moved slightly as if in consideration.

"We've already evaluated the Warp Drive and I would like to get back as swiftly as possible to begin resource allocation."

"Hyperdrive it is." Smiled Lt Davis, tapped a few buttons to change the drive over and the warp nacelles acted in conjunction with the main deflector opening the Hyperspace window and allowing the ship to traverse through.

The mission to Lt Davis at least was a major success the Warp drive was in full working order; the impulse drives were excellent and much faster than the drive pods on the Puddle Jumper. The Hyperdrive was a work of art it allowed for point-to-point jumps and full travel at speeds even the Asgard would find impressive for such a primitive species.

-(-)-

"McKay to Sheppard he's on his way back." Said the Canadian super genius scientist, "he's just opened a Hyperspace window."

"How goes the search." Asked Dr Weir as she tapped her earpiece. It had annoyed her and galled her that she had not noticed one of her people acting strangely and that it had been the paranoid intelligence officer Sargent Bates who had.

"Good." Replied the Major "We think we've found what he was doing here and we're going to need you down here Rodney." Said Sheppard, he was not acting like he was under duress, so it probably wasn't an emergency, but he had that tone that meant it was an order.

"What is it?" he asked his voice raising an octave slightly in worry.

"Just get down here Rodney you may want to come too Elizabeth this is unbelievable."

-(-)-

"Lt Davis, we've got some intruders down here." Lt Davis didn't even have a chance to respond to the machine that was now floating on his screen as they came out of hyperspace.

"Intruders?" he asked incredulously as he set the angle of attack for decent re-entry. "What do you mean intruders Glyn."

"Major Sheppard his team and three marines." Replied the Exocomp in his Bostonian accent. He had not programmed him with one, but the little machine seemed to like it and he gave them free rein to choose what they wanted to sound like.

"Oh, here we go." Groaned Sparky as he muted the communication "he's going to blow a gasket any second."

"Not now Sparky."

"I didn't program him." The machine said in an accusatory tone "So it must be something you did."

"Enough, leave your brother alone." He replied in a disapproving tone before he turned the sound back on and continued talking to Glyn. "They aren't intruders Glyn." He replied to the Exocomp, somehow Glyn had been more militantly paranoid than his brothers, he blamed the films that they watched together Glyn was a sucker for a good John Wayne movie.

"They are armed with P90s and Wraith Stun Rifles." He responded, his micro replicator forming a serrated bayonet attachment. "You want me to deal with them."

"I'll deal with them when I land." He sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. "Put the bayonet away before you hurt someone." The machine began to mumble something "What was that Glyn?"

"Sir, Yes, Sir." It responded wiggling its horns as the Bayonet disappeared in shimmering blue lights.

-(-)-

The Runabout moved with a swift grace that only the avian community could emulate. Lt Davis piloted it with a skill that few could possess. He maneuvered the ship to its landing bay and activated the doors, it took moments for the doors to open and for the ship to glide into the docking bay.

His sensors showed that the bay was empty so as the ship slowed to a stop de-activated the cloak and landed gently.

There was a slight power fluctuation as he exited with Sparky but that happened the last two times he left and returned, so technically every time he left, he had been unable to spot where the issue was originating from.

Major Sheppard and his team were not that far away from the Hanger when he found them the lights still flickering as he closed on them. Shepherd and his team made their way to the location that McKay had said would be the position for the ship to take off and land As they moved through the corridors heading to the location the lights began to flicker.

The momentary distraction forced the team to stop then with a crack and whirring sound the lights suddenly flickered off for about three seconds before they came back on, They heard a deep Ahem cough coming from behind them.

"Major Sheppard?" The Major recognised the Voice immediately as that of Lt Davis, "What are you doing in my neck of the woods?"

"Just checking up on you." He replied as he indicated.

"While armed and with you two combat specialists your pet scientist and two marines?" he replied incredulously. The squad slowly turned to face him and saw the large and lethal Brit standing with his arms folded.

He was in a standard Atlantis Blue uniform, but his beret was tucked into his black combat vest and Sheppard noticed that attacked the man's hip holster a strange-looking beretta with a giant silencer-looking thing on it.

"Teyla, it's good to see you how goes the colony." He asked as they slowly moved their weapon down the team of marines with them doing the same with their own.

"It's coming along very well."

"Good, I wanted to have a quiet word with you about a proposal I had for your people I've been trying to arrange a meeting with you and Dr Weir, but no one seems to be responding to my e-mails." He smiled gently at the warrior woman "Ford." He greeted the man with a stiff nod who then nodded slightly stiffly in response.

"Now that we've got the niceties out of the way," Sheppard said calmly "Tom you've been acting strangely, and we were concerned." He was genuine, Sheppard prided himself on being a good commander and part of that was knowing what was happening with those under his command. So, when one starts acting strangely and no one knows why it is up to him to fix it.

"And you couldn't just ask me?" the silence was awkward and lasted for a long few seconds.

"You've been coming and going during your work shift and keeping secrets," Shepherd replied trying to keep his voice calm and free of any accusatory tone, A Royal Marine was not someone to provoke especially when they were bigger and stronger than you. "we were understandably concerned."

Lt Davis looked visibly confused as he answered.

"I've been submitting reports on what I've been doing since we've arrived have you not been reading them?" he questioned as he placed the strange-looking weapon in a holster on his left hip.

Major Sheppard looked puzzled for a moment, he may hate paperwork but that did not mean he would not read it, he had not had even an inkling of anything from Lt Davis come to think of it had never read a single report from the man.

"I'm not sure I've ever seen a report from you Lt," he replied honestly. Now this was even more confusing to the man as he had his documents returned signed with a stamped authorisation.

"But, who's been signing off on my reports." He questioned the Major and shook his head, This was a serious breach of military protocol and could launch a court martial of both Lt Davis and Major Sheppard.

"Just summarise it for me." He replied with his hands sitting on the butt of his P90. "we'll find out who's been signing off on your paperwork later." As he finished speaking Dr Wier arrived with Sergeant Bates and another three marines

"Dr Weir." Sheppard nodded to the woman who looked visibly relieved.

"Is everything alright?" She asked.

"We're just finding out now."

"It would be easier to just show you, sir, ma'am." He replied gesturing to the door behind him, "If you'll follow me." He led them into a gigantic foundry full to the brim with small robots effecting repairs and transporting things to and from areas in large metal crates. "Welcome to the Atlantis Industrial District foundry number seven attached to Hanger 3."

They were all amazed at what they were seeing. There were strange machines like the arms that construct cars bustling around foundry moving things, welding things, and doing all manner of construction work. While small egg-shaped robots with horns bustled about them floating at about chest height.

"Exocomps!" cried out McKay he was genuinely amazed by the little mechs hustling and bustling around each other but never hitting or bumping anything. It was like a hive of bees working away in near-perfect harmony.

"You know what they are." Asked Dr Weir "Are they Ancient Tech."

"No!" he said as he turned his head in her direction "They're impossible."

"The industrial sector in centuries gone by was the busiest sector of the city," he narrated to them as he led them through a safe access passed the machines. "It constructed everything from Puddle Jumpers to Drones using a similar process to the Star Trek's Federation replicators though vastly more refined." He pointed out a large alcove that was beaming things into them only for a machine arm to take them and attach them to something else it was all a whirring mass of metal to them. "They used seawater and dredged the seafloor for the matter while the Zed Pee Ems provided near-infinite power allowing them to construct anything they wished."

"This is amazing." Said Lt Ford but Lt Davis just continued heedless of the man's awe with the small tour.

"But with the Wraith War, the Ancients pushed it beyond capacity, and because of the constant need for more power to the city shields they had to shut it down to conserve power. So, for Millenia the greatest industrial facility in two galaxies had laid dormant."

"Until now," said Dr Wier no one had noticed that she had arrived until she had spoken. She had brought the Czech Dr. Zelenka and a few more marines just as Sheppard and his team were led through the safe path, they followed quickly after them.

"Indeed, the beating heart of the Ancient War Machine is once again active."

"How did you do this?" she asked.

"That's a bit of a story ma'am." He replied a bit sheepishly. It was strange to see such a large and lethally trained man acting like that, but Dr. Weir had gotten used to eccentricities with military men.

"Summarise it Lt," ordered Major Shepherd as they followed the man, It looked like they were headed to a door in the rear of the foundry.

"I had a bad encounter with a piece of Technology in one of the ancient labs." He said simply "I followed protocol and reported to Dr. Becket as soon as I was able to." Shepherd nodded he had drilled that into everyone in the first week of arrival that protocol is there for a reason and can only be circumvented if an emergency calls for it. "he gave me the old once over kept me in overnight and dismissed me back to duty."

Doctor Wier nodded a simple headache she remembered; she had read over all the accident files that Becket submitted.

"caused by a slight shock if I recall."

"Yes Ma'am, my head was still throbbing quite painfully all that night."

"And you didn't come to see Dr. Becket immediately." Dr Weir chastised him in her disapproving tone.

"No Ma'am." He replied, "I took some penicillin and waited for it to dissipate." He said as they reached the doors, it was the manager's office room. It was not as large as Dr Wier's office, but it was large enough to fit a set of office chairs and a couch The view from it was of the vast oceans. "Even with that relief I couldn't sleep, so I picked up one of my books and decided to have a read-through till the pain went."

"Still waiting on the explanation Lieutenant" Said Shepherd as he sat on the Ancient couch, It was wonderfully comfortable.

"Getting there sir." He replied. Dr. Weir took the commanding seat behind the desk.

"Can you please get to the point?" Came the snap snarky response from Dr McKay as he sat next to Sheppard.

"I was reading the Star Trek Technical manual." he said calmly, "As I was looking at it the words began to shift and move." He said with a shamed whisper, "I'm Dyslexic so words doing that always happen when I'm tired but this time something changed as I concentrated on it, It was like my mind suddenly opened and I understood it."

"understood what?" asked Dr McKay with his usual sarcastic continence.

"The science behind the Enterprise, I knew how to build it from the matter-antimatter engine to the phasers I knew how to construct the Enterprise D, what materials to use, how to make the hull everything."

They were quiet as if processing the impossibility of what he said.

"I went to Dr. Becket the next day." He continued "I explained that I was experiencing some strange effects and asked for a complete workup."

"And what did it show." Asked Dr Weir

"Nothing, besides some elevated presence of the ATA gene everything was normal." He replied.

"It sounds like what happened to General O'Neill or at least something very similar." Said Dr. Wier as she looked over them "he had the Ancient Database downloaded into his brain it took over him and he was only saved by the Asgard's intervention."

"My thoughts exactly, I think Dr. Becket was tired of me reporting to him every day for a week."

"Yes, He did make a note of when you stopped coming, he thought you had gotten over whatever had happened to you."

"That's not entirely true." He said a bit sheepishly, "Once the time elapsed for what I was suspecting I realised that it wasn't the same thing that happened to the General." He said as he rubbed his neck and did not quite make eye contact. "So, I started looking through the Ancient database to see what that Lab was experimenting on."

"And what was it."

"It was ascension." He replied, "They were researching ways to boost the intelligence of their subjects to see if it would induce an ascension."

There was a moment of silence as the group took in what he had said.

"What brought you here?" asked Teyla gently breaking the silence, she was sitting on the arm of the chair and looking on with some slight concern.

"I felt drawn to the West Pier." He explained, "I was pulled like how I imagine a bird's instinct pushes it to go south for Winter." He said carefully, not wanting to make it sound like he was under the influence of something dangerous "Here, I discovered the Ancients Industrial district so; I thought why not take a look around and see if they left anything behind."

"And you found all of this." Asked Dr Weir gesturing to the door.

"Yes." He replied simply "but not functional." He quickly added. "It took some time for me to understand what this place was I had to do a deep dive on the logs and the computer database."

"How are you powering all of this?" asked Ford.

"Well, a lot of the systems in Atlantis are designed to be powered by the trio of Zed Pee Ems." He said to the younger man the scientists nodded. "But we found that some of the systems can be run independently at reduced functionality, so, I thought why not try that, but I had to do some research first."

"That's what you were doing in the science labs." Said Major Sheppard in realisation.

"I had to know what the minimum power requirement was and if the Generators could supply it." He said as he led them into a. "Once I found out Bob's your uncle, I got one of them working."

"My uncle's name isn't Bob." Came the serine voice of Teyla his head cocking slightly in confusion.

"Don't worry about it Teyla." Assured Dr Weir "Please continue Lieutenant you were looking up the device."

"Yes, I released that I could power one of the smaller devices with one of our Naquadah Generators which I did."

"What did you build?" asked Major Sheppard. The young Lieutenant smirked before answering.

"You know how the Ancients had Naquadah Generators well before we did."

"Yes, the Goa'uld stole their designs to power their ships." Replied McKay

"I looked them up and how their design differed from ours." He replied with a grin "and with the replicator active I managed to synthesise a few of them before I drained the Naquadah Generator completely."

"You synthesised Ancient Naquadah Generators?" asked Dr McKay "How are you powering it, where did you find the Naquadah." The man's voice had gone up a few octaves in astonishment and stress.

"The Ancient Replicators can synthesise anything as long as you have the chemical formula." He replied, "They named it something different than what the Goa'uld did so it's easier to just use the formula, but it still took a week or so before I found the info I needed."

They spent several minutes walking through the technology behind the replicators and several other things before John remembered.

"Whose Sparky Tom?"

"My assistant and his crew."

"Crew?" asked the Major.

"he means the Exocomps!" replied the Canadian.

"Well, you see I needed assistance to go through all the blueprints I had access to not to mention building anything." He replied as Sparky floated into the office from one of the other doors. "and the night shift does not have the best crew and the head scientist is a dick."

"Kavanagh" sighed Dr Weir.

"So, while an Astro Mech would have been good the Exocomps are vastly more useful."

"You dammed right I am." Said the small robot as it landed gently on the desk. "Nice to finally meet you Dr Weir." The team almost drew their weapons but a gesture from Dr Weir stopped them.

"Nice to meet you too erm."

"Sparky Ma'am." It said, "I'm that oaf's assistant and right hand here."

"We would have liked to know what you were doing." She said turning from looking down at the Exocomp and back up to the Lieutenant. "Both of you."

"I did submit a full report telling you what I was doing here Doctor."

"I never received anything." She replied, "How were you sending it." She asked.

"via e-mail to your tablet as I was instructed."

"That would be the issue then." She replied, "Because your night shift has to pass through your supervisor and watch commander who both have the same authority stamp as Major Shepperd and myself."

"So that would mean that every e-mail I sent was bounced to my supervisor and watch commander?" she nodded "But that means you should still have been informed as part of their report."

Dr. Weir stood suddenly from behind the desk and tapped her earpiece.

"Grodin," She said with a hit of an edge in her voice "can you please fetch Dr. Kavanagh and Captain Peters and bring them to my location please." She paused for a second "Thank you, Peter." She sighed but did not sit back down, "Now while that's being done you can show us what you've been doing here."

-(-)-

Hanger 3 was just as large and cavernous as Lt Davis had told them and while they weren't in awe of it, It was still pretty impressive. But what had grabbed their eyes was the strange, oversized Puddle Jumper that was sitting in the centre of the bay.

"What is that?" the strained, strangled voice of Dr. McKay came out with an undignified squeak. "It looks like a Runabout and a Puddle Jumper had a child."

"That's because they did." Replied Lt Davis "I used the left-over parts of three Puddle Jumpers to make it." He said as he opened the side airlock. "Well, Sparky, myself and around fifteen other Exocomps."

"It's a nice ship, Lieutenant." Complemented Shepherd.

"Thank you, Sir." He smiled. "I took the design for the Puddle Jumper and melded it with the Runabout to make a ship that can provide logistical or military support for the expedition and in case of extreme emergency and some slight modifications we can get back to earth in this."

"This has an Intergalactic Hyperdrive?" asked Dr Weir, as she and the group made their way onboard.

"Yes, Ma'am." He answered, "with some slight modification."

They were amazed by the spacious interior.

"The ship is twenty-five meters long fifteen meters wide and seven meters tall." He said they entered the passenger lounge. "Minimum crew of one and maximum capacity of eighty thanks to the Ancient's more flexible life support systems."

"This is astounding." Said Dr Weir as she sat in perhaps the most comfortable chair she had ever sat into.

"We have six phasers spread both forward and aft and we've just finished the micro torpedo pod and its torpedoes."

"Phasers?" She asked, She was never one for Sci-Fi enjoying more romance fiction and factual biographies given her old position as the NATO diplomat for America, it had served her well.

"Energy beam weapons." Replied Dr McKay "But they can't use Nadions because they're made up."

"The Ancients may not have called them Nadions Doctor, but they have the same effect as described in the technical manuals."

"and the Photons." Another higher-strangled octave in the Canadian's voice

"A bit more complicated but they are still anti-matter warheads, though, I've yet to test them against anything." The Doctor slowly sat in one of the chairs his face pail and a small, astonished smile on his face.

"What's that?" Sheppard pointed to the weapon on LT Davis's hip.

He unholstered the weapon and then pressed a button with his index finger, the button was in an identical place to those used by the Glock. He then placed it on the table making sure it wasn't pointed at anyone and his finger remained well away from the trigger, he placed the energy mag next to it.

"This is a modified Particle Magnum." He replied as the Major picked the now rendered-safe weapon up. "The weapon used by the Ancients as their preferred sidearm." He smiled as the Major admired the weapon, "I have modified it with parts from both the Federation phaser, Cardassian disruptors and the Republic DC-17 hand blaster." He placed it back onto the table "That will put a hole in a Wraith the size of a volleyball at three hundred meters."

"Nice." He smiled "You got any more?" he asked.

"The nature of the foundry here is that it only does Bulk There are a few crates of these out there."

"What else have you been doing." Asked Dr Weir as she noticed the Exocomps flying past the window and operating around a large ring. "Because they seem very busy."

"I've found a few construction rings and I'm having the lads take a look and see if we can get one operational."

"Construction Ring?" Dr Wier asked.

"They were first encountered by SG7 when they stumbled on an abandoned Goa'uld shipyard on P3X-929." He said as he took one of the last seats at the table. "They oversized replicators." He explained, "One type of matter goes in, and another comes out the ring then moves the matter onto position using a series of tractor beams and fuses them all into one object."

"Amazing." Dr. Weir's voice was almost an awed whisper.

"The Snakes were using them for constructing their Ha'taks." He told the Doctor, "Because of their nature they don't need Naquadah in its construction efforts." He said, "Only in powering them." he then pointed to the ones that were there even though everyone was looking away from him. "Those rings are what the Goa'uld based theirs on." He coughed slightly before continuing "The one we're looking at is only a small one that can only make something around two hundred meters by two hundred meters." He said as they all gathered at the windows. "They usually had four or five running for ship construction with an average size of around a thousand meters." He smiled as they turned around "They used similar constructors to create Atlantis on Earth and several of their off-world outposts here in the Pegasus Galaxy as well as the Defence Satellites."

"Can you get them running?" Asked Dr Weir as she moved to sit back at the table.
