This is the final main story chapter. This chapter contains the song which belongs to Avatar 2. I do not take credit for it. Credit goes to Avatar 2 and the Weeknd. Thought since this is the film it coming, thought you'd all like to see it. Enjoy it.
Our New Home
It was close to sunset. Jake approached the hut. Tonowari and Ronal awaited him. He went to them. "My family and I will move on tomorrow. Far away from here. We've brought enough trouble to your people. And we'll take Payaka and Tsu'tey with us as well,"
"Your son, lies with our ancestors," acknowledged the chief. "You and your family are Metkayina now,". He offered a hand. Jake was touched. He was offering them to stay for good. He humbly accepted and shook it.
Lo'ak and Sylwa sat together facing the sunset. "I can't believe he's really gone,"
"Even if we were allowed to connect to the Spirit Tree, I don't know how to speak to him. I couldn't even face him,"
"Oh Lo'ak," she struggled to contain a sob. "What are we to do?"
He patted her back and they turned to each other. "We're gonna do what he did. We're gonna keep our family safe and we're gonna do with our friends. We'll honour his memory and one day we'll be together again,". He pulled her into a warm hug and rubbed her back.
More steps came and they saw it was Tsireya and Aonung. They sat beside each of them, offering comfort. "You doing okay?" Reya asked. Still sniffling, they nodded and Tsireya placed her hand over Sylwa's and Aonung patted Lo'ak's back.
"Is this how you guys felt?" Sylwa asked, hoping it wouldn't make them cry more. Exchanging tearful glances, the sea siblings remembered how much they grieved for their brother and nodded.
"Let us know if there's anything we can do," Aonung offered. "My father has decreed that you guys and your family are Metkayina now,"
The twins raised their heads in astonishment. "Really?"
"Your brother lies with our ancestors," acknowledged Tsireya. "This is officially your home now,"
"Our new home," the twins looked around at the majestic sea island they had grown to love. Even though they weren't really welcomed at first, they had grown to love it.
"I know it's not the same as the forest…"
"It is the same," said Sylwa. "Because what makes this place home is when you're with the people you love," she smiled affectionately at Tsireya. Their brothers sniggered and the sisters rolled their eyes at them. "What?"
Lo'ak saw their mother at the beach with their sisters. Exchanging glances with Sylwa, they nodded knowing their mother needed them now more than ever. They silently 'thanked' their friends and walked down to the shore.
Once they were out of ear range, Aonung pulled Tsireya to her feet to have a serious talk. "You and I both know you like Sylwa,"
"We're just friends,"
"No. I've seen the way you look at her. It's not like with the other girls on this island,"
"Even if it were true, which it isn't…I know for certain Mum would not approve,"
"How do you know that?"
"Because she doesn't like that Payaka has adopted Roa's calf and also…a pair like us wouldn't work out,"
"You don't know for sure. Listen, sis, if Tousal was here he'd be telling you to make a move and tell that girl how you feel. Give her time to mourn and when the time is right, tell her how you feel. Because if you don't, you will regret it for the rest of your life,"
She looked towards the beach where the twins had joined their heartbroken mother and sisters. Then Jake walked to the shore and they all huddled together.
It was now night-time and the village remained as silent as ever. The hut was quiet and everyone including Spider sat together, mourning for Neteyam. They were officially sea-people now and they were going to stand together against the Sky people.
Sylwa stood up slowly and walked to the doorway, leaning against the mangrove roots outside, staring off into the distance. She wondered about their forest home. She would miss it so much. But now she had come to love this place as well. But her thoughts drifted to Neteyam as she remembered back in their mountain hideout he had comforted her after her nightmare, how he had defended her many times from mean bullies when they were kids. She missed him so much.
She heard her parents standing up, deciding they needed to be alone for a while. When they walked out and noticed her staring out at the sea, Jake came to her side. "You go and see Payaka and her calf," he encouraged. She twisted her head, confused by his offer. "She can comfort you,"
She was so happy that her father would no longer hold his domineering gaze over her shoulders. "Thank you,"
"Be don't stay out too long," he warned.
"Deal," she hugged him again. "I love you, dad,".
He hugged her back and she walked off, calling an ilu. Neytiri was not happy he was letting her go like this. "Jake…"
"She can take care of herself. She needs her spirit sister and she needs her too. We have to let our children grow and be their own people,". They summoned his Skimwing and they made their way to the Spirit Tree.
Sylwa swam just past the reef and gleefully made her way over to her awaiting spirit sister with tears.
Payaka's heart clenched seeing her still so wet with grief. You okay?
"I'm okay. I'm still getting over it. I just really wanted to see you,"
It's gonna be okay. Payaka squeaked as her new adopted son played around in the water, swimming over to greet his new mother's spirit sister. Sylwa reached forward a hand to pet him. He purred.
"He's beautiful," she spoke verbally and with sign language. "Does he have a name?"
I've named him Papuya. Squeaked her spirit sister.
"That's a beautiful name. You're going to make such a wonderful mother,"
Do you really think so?
She smiled and patted her hide. "I know so. You'll protect him. And I'll make sure nothing gets between you two. You've been alone long enough,"
Thank you Sylwa. For everything.
No. Thank you Payaka. She hugged him again and then gave the calf a hug too, to comfort him for his loss as well as her own.
Lo'ak decided he wanted to be alone again. He went to the cliffs and stared into the moon, holding up his crystal palm. It hadn't stung for hours. But still, he couldn't feel something inside him. Like a powerful force. "What am I to do, Grandpa?" he asked himself. He sighed and looked again in every direction. "I wish I could talk to you bro, tell you how sorry I am for neglecting everything you did to me, that I never meant to make you feel replaced at all,"
Tsu'tey approached him from behind, sensing his grief. He curled around him like a cat, swinging his tail around him. I'm always here for you. He promised. I'm sorry I couldn't save your brother, buddy.
Lo'ak burst into tears again and hugged his neck. "Thank you Tsu'tey,". They stayed in that position for a long time and they just sat together staring up at the stars. Still, questions overwhelmed the boy's mind again as he stared at his palm. "Why do I feel like there's something else out there buddy?"
You are not the only one. Tsu'tey warbled. But whatever it is, we'll face it together. And remember no matter how much pain you feel, master it and turn it into power to protect everyone our loved ones.
His words gave Lo'ak courage. His determination grew and he stood strong. And with that strength came a song
I thought I could protect you
From paying for my sins
And I've been walking this Earth long enough
That death's a gift
Been living this life so patient
Until I see you again, it's war we're facing
I know that if I die, my only choice is still defending
No matter what they say
My love for you is greater than their powers
And their armies from above
You give me strength
As his voice rose, a strong glow emitted from underneath his feet, spreading everywhere for deep under the sea, lay gems of pure cosmic energy which connected to every living fauna, every tree, every piece of coral both above and under the sea, reacting to the emotions of the Navi who had bonded to them. As that happened, spirits were swarming under the water, under the mangrove trees.
I'm with you either way
If I die, if I stay
Give me strength
I'm with you either way
Nothing's lost, no more pain
Just give me strength
Lo'ak vowed he would use Neteyam's death and his grief to power his emotions, to drive him to use his newfound abilities to protect the Navi from all foes.
Inside their hut, Soxato, Roxto and Atuiko had finally had a heartfelt talk with one another after years of grief and falling apart. The father was so proud of his sons and passionately told them that he could "see" them. They suddenly saw the sea outside their hut glowing and looked down to see so much energy. Atu had a correct assumption as to what it was. When he wandered outside, he saw the bubble spirits swarming like fireflies again and just across the bay he saw Lo'ak standing strong and tall. "It's him," he breathed.
His father and brother rushed outside and were stunned by what they were seeing.
"Blimey," breathed the general.
"He's done this," Aonung breathed, staring out at Lo'ak on the cliff with his parents. They were bewitched by the change of lightning. It was as if the energy flowing under Pandora had reacted to someone who was now full of so much hope again.
"How is this possible?" Tonowari questioned.
"If the boy truly is bonded to a creature as mysterious as him, he will be sought out. We must keep a close eye on him," advised Ronal carefully. Aonung turned to her, confused by her statement but then he became consumed by worry again. Did this mean there were other people out there who knew about this kind of power?
As they were closing in on the spirit tree, Jake and Neytiri saw the energy glowing under the seafloor lighten up more and the spirit tree turned into a spectrum of rainbow colours that nearly blinded them.
Sylwa was singing too. As Payaka and Papuya listened, more sea creatures rose from the sea, drawn to her singing voice.
The scars and the wounds
I wear them proud like tattoos
She was no longer afraid of her scars. She would wear them as a reminder of how she had survived the brutality of the Sky people and that she would turn her pain into power.
Reminds me that I lost you
Reminds me that I'll
Be living this life so patient
Until I see you again, it's a war we're facing
I know that if I die, my only choice is still defending
No matter what they say
My love for you is greater than their powers
And their armies from above
Her love for her brother would never die at all. He was always with them. Even if not physically. Behind some nearby rocks, Tsireya watched her carefully.
You give me strength
I'm with you either way
If I die, if I stay
Give me strength
I'm with you either way
Nothing's lost, no more pain
Just give me strength
As her singing ended, the creatures swam around in accordance with her melodies and then swam off again, to spread the word across the sea that all beings, both Navi and creature had to make a stand against the Sky people. This was their home. This was their fortress. This was where they would make their stand. She sat against Payaka's fin, stroking her son's face when they heard water shifting and turned around to see it was Tsireya. Sylwa was happy to see she had joined them.
"May I join in?" she requested. Blushing, Sylwa nodded and she swam off her ilu and climbed up onto Payaka's fin, they both climbed onto her back together, staring at the moon, leaning together with hands over one another. Then Sylwa's head fell onto Tsireya's shoulder and she leaned against it, smiling together.
Tsu'tey and Lo'ak decided to go for a swim around the spirit tree together whilst his parents were connecting to it. If he couldn't connect to the tree, this was the closest the boy would get to his brother. But the closer they got, the brighter the Taquamare glowed like the rainbow. And then suddenly, Lo'ak saw the mark on his hand glowing several different colours too. And as it did, the star studs along his skin started glowing too. He felt more paralysed than surprised. But as he opened them, he saw something that no naked Navi eye had ever seen. He could see streams of energy, lacing through every underwater plant he could see. He saw Eywa's spiritual energy all around them. It was like she was all around them. His eyes stung again. He rubbed them. He opened them again. Everything was normal again.
"Was that what I think it was?" Lo'ak asked.
'It was'. answered Tsu'tey. It is what I see. It is what all Taquamares like me said. You have a lot to learn Lo'ak but what you did in the sea shows you truly are 'Sezu Penu Zu'. 'One who Truly Sees'. His spirit brother trembled at the thought of receiving such a title. 'I know you are scared. But as long as we can keep each other and our loved ones safe, there is nothing we can't overcome,'
"Then I will do it. For Neteyam,"
And I will do it for my mother. And the rest of my kind.
"One day we're gonna find more of your family out there bro. I promise,"
Epilogue
"You are certain?"
A fretful Navi bowed before his mistress. Thousands of evil Navi stood behind him, having been called into discussion of what had been witnessed. "Positive chieftess," said the soldier. "I linked to the only Voldraco who came back and I saw his memories. The bonder was a forest, Navi. But merely a boy. That Taquamare risked his life to protect him,"
"Then he is a threat to everything," the Navi chieftess stood up strong, impending down on the soldier. She leaned forward against his ear. "Find him. Find them both. And bring them to me. If we don't stop them…" she turned her back and walked towards a giant crystal. "They could ruin everything," she held up a torch. "It took years for us to get this power that should have belonged to our kind aeons ago..." As the fire's light bounced off the crystal, the face of a sea Navi with long black hair in waves, wide eyes and a wide-open mouth appeared. She was stuck. In a fate worse than death. Trapped between the void of the living and the dead. "I will not let some boy ruin everything. He is nowhere near…as powerful as we are," she held up her palm, etched with the same symbol but black to reflect the coldness of her heart. "This power belongs to us. And us alone," She turned once again to her people. "Find him! We will bring him here! And we will kill him!"
"A forest boy you say?" spoke a voice in the shadows.
"Yes," the chieftess said. "Care to share anything?"
Two banished Navi stepped into the light. "Did he have five fingers?"
And that's the final chapter of the main story. I hope you have all enjoyed it as much as I have enjoyed writing it.

But please don't be afraid to keep sending reviews and ideas for the next story and the alternate story I will do next year. I wish you all a Happy Autumn and I look forward to writing alternate chapters at Christmas.
