Old Elizabeth had left one more gift for the expedition. The potential locations of five ZPM's. AG 1 set out for the planet Dagan to see if they could find a ZPM there. They found something very interesting. A shrine to Lex and Cor. They were listening to a story the guide was telling them.
"In the last days of the Wraith War. Lex and Cor came to our world. We believe Lex had the gift of far sight. He told us, far into the future, 10,000 years, a people would come from a distant galaxy. If the war was lost, then they would take up the fight. Lex and Cor came to leave a gift to aid in that effort. They inscribed a phrase from a language from that world within the shrine. Lex said, only one member of the people who came, would be able to translate it. It was how we'd know the people the gift was meant for had come. People have been trying for centuries to find out what that gift is, but none have been able to get past the boundary Lex established. Not even the Wraith, who heard of it from humans they fed on or the vile Wraith worshipers. Only the speaker will be able to move past the boundary."
"I'm sure if there's some technology at work here, I'll be able to. This may be the ZPM we're looking for, we should check this out." McKay said.
"Agreed." Sheppard answered and the group moved into the shrine with the guide smiling knowingly. No one had ever been able to get past the boundary, she was sure these people wouldn't either.
Xander froze when he saw the words inscribed on the wall. Words that shouldn't be here 3 million light years from Earth. Words that were going to get him dope slapped and maybe even a month on the couch if he translated it verbally, which he had no intention of doing. The answer to the question written in that shrine was known only to him, Cordelia, her parents and her doctor. No one else was ever going to know it.
He faced the inscription and barked out an answer to the question 'where is Cordelia Chase's birthmark', in the same language. Fyarl, a demon language and not one he'd put on his resume.
"Captain?" Sheppard asked, wondering what he was doing.
A voice, Xander Harris' voice, could be heard.
"I knew you'd come. If we lose this war, then people we've come to call friends and the world we've come to call home, will die. Two years ago, Cor and I had a child, we named him for two friends. His name is Johnathan Giles. But he didn't arrive alone, he had a twin sister. She did not survive her birth. We named her for two other friends. Kendra Faith. She's preserved on the Hoffan Homeworld. Please ensure that she is buried beside the remains of her godfather, Jesse McNally. If we lose, it means we will never see John grow up or know where he and his descendants are buried, if they are buried, if the Wraith don't get them. I'm leaving something here, that I hope helps you fight the Wraith, if we lose. Use it wisely, it belongs in Atlantis. Only the speaker may enter and retrieve it."
A door slid open, the guide's mouth hung open in shock. She had never expected this!
Xander walked thru the door, moving thru a force field. There in front of him, was a ZPM in a niche in the wall. He reached for it and his hands passed thru another shield and grasped it. He lifted it out and turned around and walked out.
Just as the man who'd led the Genii strike force against the expedition appeared. "I'll take that." He said.
"You lied to me, Kolya!" The guide screamed. "You said they were imposters, thieves! He is the heir of Lex and Cor!"
Xander handed the ZPM to McKay and faced Kolya. "It's you who are the traitor, Kolya. To your ancestors. They were the first to sign on to a united effort against the Wraith. You're betraying their memory. There is no honor in anything you've tried to do."
"That belongs to us. The ancestors made it."
"They did, but they're not your ancestors. They're mine. It's why we can operate their technology. They safe guarded it to ensure, only they and their children could control it. When they left this galaxy after they lost their own effort against the Wraith, they came to our world, they mingled their blood with our ancestors. We are their children."
"Lies!"
"No. And if you want that gift, you're going to have to get past me to get it. I promise you, that will never happen."
With a roar of rage, Kolya attacked him. Only to die when Xander struck out and smashed his fist into his chest, stopping his heart with the force of the blow. The bewildered look on his face said clearly that he didn't understand, he had died. His body crumpled to the ground, lifeless.
"Take it. It belongs to you. You are the one Lex said would come. Protect us from the Wraith, please." The guide begged.
"We'll do our best, ma'am. That's all we can promise." Xander told her.
"You are the heir of Lex and Cor. Those are the words he spoke to convince the worlds of this galaxy to unite and fight." The guide was in awe.
Later, as AG 1 walked back to the Stargate. "You don't actually think you're descended from the Ancients, do you?" McKay asked.
"I don't know. It would explain the gene and our ability to interface with their technology."
"How did you know that language? I've never seen symbols like that." Sheppard asked.
"That's because there are only a few speakers left on Earth that speak it. And some of them lived in mine and Cordy's hometown. Lex and Cor are me and Cordy. Somehow, our other selves survived the Ancients last attempt. The names of their children? Our mentor in Sunnydale, his name was Rupert Giles, everyone called him Giles, Johnathan for Jack O'Neill and Kendra, a friend who died trying to protect us from a gang attack and Faith, Cordy's best friend. Jesse McNally, the closest thing to a brother I ever had, murdered at sixteen by a gang member."
"And the question and answer?"
"I will never translate them for anyone. I'll be spending at least a month on the couch if I do. It relates to Cordy."
"Oh boy." Sheppard said, as they stepped thru the Stargate.
