Lyney's POV

The next day, Lynette and I asked around the Court of Fontaine to see if anyone could recognise the pendant or the song Freminet had hummed for us. However, we couldn't find anything, so we decided to try asking around Fleuve Cendre instead.

"We've been searching all day and we still haven't found anything", I pointed out. "I wonder if we're ever going to find out what song the pendant would play?"

After I asked this, Lynette opened her mouth to speak, but then…she paused as her cat ears perked up.

"What is it, Lynette", I asked.

"Someone is humming", Lynette replied. "And…it sounds like the song Freminet hummed for us yesterday."

"Really", I asked hopefully.

"Yes", Lynette replied, before grabbing onto my hand. "Follow me."

With this, Lynette led me to the sound she had heard.

We ended up by a little girl…who was humming the same song Freminet did the day before.

"That's the song", I pointed out happily.

Then, Lynette suddenly walked up to the girl.

"Hello, there", she greeted as she leaned closer to her.

"Kitty", the girl said happily, which seemed to annoy Lynette.

I then chucked before also walking up to the girl.

"Greetings, young lady", I said. "That was a very lovely song you were humming just now. Where did you learn it from?"

"It's from my music box", the girl replied excitedly.

"Music box", Lynette asked.

"Yeah", the girl replied. "My grandpa made it for me!"

"Julie, you shouldn't be talking to strangers."

After we heard this…an elderly man walked up to us.

"Why are you two bothering my granddaughter", he asked harshly.

"I'm terribly sorry sir", I apologised. "We just wanted to know what song your granddaughter was humming."

"And why is that", the elderly man asked.

"Sir", Lynette started. "Do you recognise this pendant?"

With this, Lynette held up a picture of the pendant.

When the man saw it, he looked at it in shock before grabbing onto the picture.

"Wh…where…", he started. "Where did you find this?"

"Our adoptive brother received it from his mother when he was young", I revealed. "She has passed away now, and this pendant is all he has left of her."

"But it's damaged and can't play music anymore", Lynette added. "So we've been trying to find out what the song was."

After we revealed this…the elderly man began to become emotional.

"Grandpa", the girl started. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, sweetie", the man replied. "It's just…I made that pendant for someone very so special."

"You did", I asked.

"Yes", the man replied.

Then…he seemed to get an idea.

"Tell you two what", he started. "Why don't you two come back here with your brother? Then, I'll tell you all the story behind the pendant, and the song it would play."
