Chapter Thirty-Two
Back to Work Plans

March. He decided to extend his leave (of absence) from the company until March. And she didn't know whether that was a good thing, or a bad thing. I mean, that's a long time for them to be off. And if he's off until March, she's sure that meant until after his birthday (which is in March, the 24th of March to be precise). The 24th of March 1979. That was her handsome husband's birthday, which meant that he was turning thirty-four this year. But still, she may want to double check if that's how long. "Just curious, we talking beginning of March, or end of March?" Matt laughed. "Then maybe I should say April so that people don't get fooled when I come back to work." Alex blushed as she heard Matt say that, before laughing a bit as she had to admit that it was a bit funny. However, it wasn't that funny, which is something that she decided to tell her husband. "Ok mister, knock it off. You're not THAT funny." Matt smirked as he heard Alex say that, before putting his hand on her back. "Well, you just laughed if I'm not mistaken. So, that must mean that you think I'm a bit funny if you just laughed." Alex agreed with her husband, smiling as that was true.

She did laugh, so that had to mean that she thought he was a bit funny, which she did, and she also thought he was sexy. Damn Matt is so sexy, especially when he walks around in his tight boxers of his. God, the way he teases Alex is something that always makes her happy; simply because she knows that this amazing man is all hers for the rest of her life. "God, I am not worthy to call you my husband." Matt shook his head, as that was the last thing he wanted to hear his wife tell him; if anything, he's not worthy of calling her his wife after all the waiting he made her do so that they can be a couple. "If anything, it's the other way around. I mean, I literally left you pregnant and waiting for me to come to you." Alex agreed with Matt, smirking as she leaned in and kissed her husband softly. "But you came back to me, and that's all that matters at the end of the day." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, smiling as that most certainly is the truth; but he didn't just come back to her, as he also came back to their child. "I have a feeling there was a certain magnet that brought us back together." Alex then gave Matt a puzzled look, as she had no idea just what in the world he meant.

Especially by the term magnet. "Magnet?" Matt smirked as he placed his hand on his wife's side, gently stroking it with his thumb near where their child is currently growing inside of her. "Oh, that magnet. Yeah, I think that would bring is back together." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, while also feeling her get close to him once more. Wrapping her arms around his neck in the process, Alex smiled as she's very comfortable here in bed with Matt; especially since she has the man of her dreams with her as her husband. "I hope you know just how much I love the crap out of you." Matt smirked as he agreed with Alex, before bending down and smirking as he leaned in and kissed the woman he loves; while she put her hand on his face and took things nice and slow with her man. "God, I am so glad that we're in bed with each other, as I am very comfortable here." Matt agreed with Alex as she told him that. "And I'm very turned on by the sight of you wearing this sexy lingerie that you're wearing for me my dear." Alex smiled as she heard Matt say that, before cuddling up to Matt some more as she leaned her forehead against his. "So, no work until March?" Matt sighed.

After all, there are a couple exceptions. "Maybe just the board meetings and the big meetings that need the CEO. I am just not doing the background work that comes with my job, unless I do it in the comfort of our bed. I'm not sure yet. Maybe I just work from home, rather than go to the office. Not sure what I'm going to do, as I need to figure that all out with my sister; what she'd be comfortable with me doing. Maybe I can do it where I work from home starting in January." Alex agreed with Matt. "So, basically either January or March." Matt agreed with Alex. "And even if I did go back in January, I would still be taking a week off in February and a week off in March." Alex agreed with Matt, well aware of the two weeks he's talking about. And those would be: (1) the week of Valentine's day, which is February 11th-15th this year; and (2) the week after his birthday, which is March 25th-29th this year. So, she at least gets a week alone with her husband each month. "Or, you can just take a week off every month; but work from home every day. You can work in bed, as we cuddle and just take it easy with each other. Maybe I can even tease you by trying to take off your boxers."

Matt was surprised when he heard Alex say that, but most certainly was a huge fan of that idea. I mean, what man doesn't like the idea of his wife taking off his boxers as they cuddle in bed with each other; especially when he knows that Alex is going to be wearing her lingerie as she cuddles up to him in bed. "Considering you're going to be wearing your lingerie for me as we hold each other close in bed, when I think we both know that I am a huge fan of you playing with my boxers when we're in bed with each other while I work." Alex agreed with Matt as he told her that, smirking as she slipped close to him once more. After which, she wrapped her arms around his neck and just smiled as she leaned in and kissed the man of her dreams softly. The man she craves more than anything in the entire world, simply due to the fact that he's the love of her life and the only man that she can ever see herself being with. He's just that amazing of a man and it makes her so damn happy that she's married to such a hunk. "God, I love you so much." Matt agreed with his wife as she told him that, smiling as he ran his hand up and down her back as he kissed her softly this morning.

However, the kiss was short lived; because just as soon as it started, Alex ended up pulling away from the kiss so that she could cuddle up to the man of her dreams. The man she loves more than anything in the entire world, her husband Matthew. And if she wanted to cuddle up to him, then that's precisely what the two of them are going to do; but they just aren't going to do it where they lay down close to one another. Instead, Matt's going to lay down on his back as they cuddle up to each other in bed, which is precisely what Alex wants anyways. She just loves laying down on Matt's chest more than anything, as it means that she gets to cuddle up to the man of her dreams while listening to his heartbeat. And if that's what his wife wanted to do, when who was Matt to argue with her when he loves the feeling of her laying down on his chest, which is precisely what she's doing now that she's all cuddled up to him, while he was running his hand up and down her back as they both held each other close here in the comfort of their bed. "Comfortable?" Alex agreed with Matt, as she was always comfortable when she laid down in his arms. "Is that a trick question?" Matt snickered, nodding.

After all, he knew better than anybody that Alex is always comfortable when she's on his chest; and he means always comfortable. She can always find a way to get comfortable, just as long as he holds her in his arms. "I think we both know that I can always find a way to get comfortable if I'm in your arms." Matt agreed with his wife, as that was precisely what he was just thinking about. "I was literally just thinking about that…" Pressing his lips to her forehead once more, Matt smiled as he ran his hand up and down her back this morning. "…how you can always get comfortable in my arms one way or another, even when you're pregnant." Alex agreed with her husband as he told her that, before turning her head to look up at him. "I'd hold on to that thought, as that may not be the truth in the future." Matt was confused as Alex told him that, as he didn't understand why it wouldn't be the truth in the future. "Ok. Why wouldn't it be the truth in the future babe? Why wouldn't you be comfortable on my chest?" Matt said, as he wrapped his legs around Alex's as a way to trap her here in bed with him; not that she needed to be trapped, as she wants to be here with her husband.

She wants to cuddle up to him, as they hold each other close on their honeymoon; something which she can always do if she's in bed with him, just like she is right now. But right now, there's also something else that she needs to do; and that would be answer her husband's question. "Well, it's all about something that's going to happen over time." Turning his head, Matt looked down at his wife. "Hello, I'm going to get fat." Matt shook his head, as that wasn't how he wanted his wife to describe her body as their baby grows in her, which, in his opinion, is a miracle. I mean, her body can literally create life. If anything, he thinks that it's the most beautiful thing in the entire world; while being fat is often associated with not being beautiful (which most certainly isn't the truth), as everybody is beautiful. All shapes and sizes are beautiful, which is something that Casey Apparel plans on trying to work on in the future; he just needs to talk to his sister about how he wants her to do that, while not stepping on her toes as she is the head of that division. The truth is, he may be a majority owner; but when it comes to Casey Apparel, it's tricky when it comes to the situation they have.

I mean, he's both her boss and her younger brother at the same time, which makes things very complicated, and why he's just glad that they even have this good of a relationship. I mean, not that her being married to Jim helps; but he can put up with him if he makes her happy, and because he's his niece's father. But now, back to the situation that he needs to deal with, the one where his wife just said that she's going to get fat due to the pregnancy. "Ok, no. You aren't going to get fat. You're going to be beautiful and pregnant. Are we clear on that?" Alex agreed with her husband as he told her that, while Matt pressed his lips to her forehead once more. "Hell, you will be so beautiful; that I wouldn't be opposed to you being a model for Casey Maternity and Motherhood." Alex smiled, as that sounds like a lot of fun. "Maybe, I'll think about it. Not sure if I want to display my bump too much in public. Might keep that private for my husband." Matt agreed with his wife, as he ran his hand up and down her back while they held each other close here in the comfort of their bed. The bed where Matt and Alex have already made love to each other in the night before.

And the bed where Cassie and Theo just joined them, as they want to be with their parents; just like their little baby will always want to be, in bed with them as they cuddle as a family. But right now, they're just going to cuddle with each other and their dogs. "Come here Cassie and Theo. Come see mama and papa." Alex smiled as she heard Matt say that, while grabbing the sheets and tugging them up on top of both of them, which was very comfortable considering they are both just wearing their undergarments, with Alex in lingerie and her hunky husband in his boxers. But rather than just take it as Alex wanting to get comfortable, Matt instead took it as Alex being cold. "Babe, you want me to turn the heat up? I can do it on my phone." Turning her head, Alex shook her head as she looked up at the man of her dreams. After all, she just wanted to be comfortable. "Oh, I didn't tug the covers up because I was cold; I tugged the covers up so that I could get comfortable here in bed, as I have a feeling that I'm not leaving bed anytime soon." Matt smiled, as he liked the sound of that; he just wanted to make sure that Alex was okay with that idea, with them staying in bed.

Because if she wants to go anywhere and explore California, then he's more than open to doing that. "I hope you know that we don't have to stay in bed. If you want to go out and explore California, then we can do that; just tell me and we will." Alex agreed with her husband. "As long as we stay here, I'm happy. And honestly, not too sure whether I even like the place in Florida. Sorry, that just came to my mind." Matt laughed. "Well, good. It's not our place." Alex was confused. "What?" Matt nodded. "Ok. The truth is, that's a family home. I can just use it. Me and my sister co-own it." Alex agreed with Matt. "Wait, what about this place?" Matt shook his head. "My sister has her own place in Chicago, Honolulu, and Downtown Los Angeles. The only property we share is in Florida and I am not a fan of it as I can't surf there. I just went there because you wanted to go." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, smiling as she ran her hand down his muscular chest, while Matt stroke her back with his thumb and kissed her forehead softly. "I have to say, I love the fact that we're alone and just taking it easy right now. This truly is exactly what I feel like we need right now." Matt agreed.

After all, he more than understands the importance of taking time for oneself; as well as time as a couple, so that you can take it easy, relax and recharge. People need to destress more often that you think, which is precisely why Matt really needs this time. "Between all the bullshit that I had to deal with Hallie, the stress of my job which has just accumulated over time, the stress of balancing two women, and then add in the fact that we're pregnant…" Moving to grab Alex's hand, Matt intertwined their fingers as he held her close to him. "It's a lot to take in and it's just not something that I want to deal with too much. I just want to take it easy and relax during the first month or so of our marriage. Maybe six weeks?" Alex agreed with Matt, as she likes that timeline; the two of them, spending six weeks with each other. "Means I'll be done my first trimester by then." Matt smirked. "No, really?" Turning her head to look up at Matt, Alex just realized that he did it on purpose. "You!" Matt laughed. "Babe, I want the first trimester to be easy on us. I don't want to bring too much stress on the pregnancy, as the first trimester is always the hardest; and when you can miscarry easier."

Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, before bending down and kissing his chest; while at the same time, she placed her hand on his chest and Matt moved his hand under the covers to put it on her leg. Stroking it with his thumb, Matt smiled as he soon turned his head and pressed his lips to his wife's forehead this morning. "Sorry for saying that word, I know that isn't something you want to think about." Alex nodded, as that was the truth; the last thing she wants to think about is her miscarrying their child, not when she and Matt want to be parents more than anything in the entire world. And that's precisely why she was so happy to have him here in bed with her. She just wishes he didn't say that word, which is why she decided to ask him to stop saying it. "Can you maybe not mention that word? I don't even want to think about the word." Matt agreed with Alex as he ran his hand up and down her back, as that was something that he can do for her. "I promise babe, I'm doing to take it out of my vocabulary." Alex agreed with Matt, smiling as she felt him press his lips to her forehead as they both just relaxed and held each other close here in the comfort of their bed.

She ended up falling asleep this morning, probably due to the fact that she hasn't been sleeping the best over the past couple of days; both due to the fact that she's still getting used to the heat that she now sleeps in, and due to the fact that they moved from Chicago to Miami, and then Miami to Los Angeles in just a few days. But now that they were settled, Matt had a feeling that his wife was going to sleep much better; so much so, that he was confident enough to slip away to his office (in his sweats) so that he could get something done. But, if you're asking whether it's work; then the answer is no, as it most certainly is not work. Rather, it was something a bit more personal as he was going to try and reach Jessica so that she can help him with something. And just what might that be? Well, Matt wants to buy the best first Christmas gift for his wife that he can, which is why he wants to talk to Jessica; and why he was sending her a text message as he sat down in the office of his California home. 'Hey, do you have a minute to talk to me?' He made sure to add on the 'to me' part to make sure that Jessica already knew that she was just going to be talking to him, and not Alex.

And let's just say that didn't do over too well with Jessica, as she thought that she did something wrong. 'You fire me for whatever I did, and you're going to hear about it from her.' Matt laughed as he read that text from Jessica, before hitting her phone number so that he can call her; after all, he has no need to text her if she has her phone in his hand. And luckily for him, she answered his call pretty much right away. "Ok. Just tell me why you're firing me…" Matt laughed as he sat in his desk chair and rolled up to his laptop, before opening it and turning it on. "Believe me Jessica, I actually want to have a nice Christmas rather than be out in the cold on Christmas night." Jessica laughed as she heard her best friend's husband say that, well aware that he's going to want intimate time with his wife on their first Christmas as husband and wife. "Speaking of your wife, why exactly are you talking to me when you're on your honeymoon?" Matt smiled. "First, to let you know we moved from Florida to California." Jessica was shocked. "Really?" Matt nodded. "I wanted to go surfing, and the weather is more tolerable for Alex and the pregnancy." Jessica thought about it.

And that most certainly is the truth, as California is a lot less humid than Florida. "Especially when you're in Malibu, right next to the Pacific Ocean." Matt was shocked. "How did you know…" Jessica laughed (again). "I just saw that Alex sent me your updated address for when I come at Christmas/New Year's Eve. God, we're going to party on the beach and drink some wine…" Matt then corrected Jessica. "Drink some sparkling water, because Alex is pregnant." Jessica agreed with Matt as he said that, as that was the truth. "Right, sorry. By the way, don't ever talk like that again. That just sound…wrong." Matt laughed. "Sorry, I guess I am just around my wife too much. And speaking of my wife, that's why I called you." Jessica got worried as Matt said that. "Oh no, what happened? Wait, is it the baby? Shit, please don't tell me…" Matt then stopped Jessica. "Jessica! She's still pregnant. Remember, she can't have wine because she's pregnant." Jessica remembered that. "Right, then why are you calling me?" Matt laughed. "I want some help from my wife's best friend to make sure that I don't screw up our first Christmas as husband and wife." Jessica then understood the call.

He was calling her because he needed some help with finding a gift for Alex. "Let me guess, you have no idea what to buy her for Christmas?" Matt sighed. "Well, here's the thing. For her first Christmas, I was thinking of going all out to introduce her to her new world. Then again, she's still getting used to this world…" Jessica understood. "You're not sure she's ready for it, and you don't want to go all overboard." Matt agreed. "I mean, I was thinking of buying her the matching Diamond Necklace and Earrings that go with her wedding ring." Jessica was shocked. "That ring is part of a matching set?" Matt agreed. "Yeah. I may have bought a wedding ring instead of an engagement ring for Alex apparently." Jessica snickered. "So, you owe her more jewelry. Which are you leaning towards?" Matt sighed. "That's why I'm calling you. You're a woman, and you know Alex. What would she like? I mean, not that it matters as I still plan on buying them both anyways." Jessica was confused. "Why?" Matt laughed. "Christmas and Valentine's Day gift in one." Jessica thought about it, and agreed with Matt. "Hey, that's smart. Kill two birds with one stone. A very expensive stone, but a stone."

Matt laughed. "Just make sure that you don't tell Alex or should go rooting through the drawers of our home to find her Valentine's Day gift." Jessica laughed. "Well, you could always keep it in my safe hands." Matt laughed. "Yeah, not when it's a $15,000 diamond necklace and $7,500 diamond earrings." Jessica was shocked. "Say what now? Did you just say.,.." Matt agreed, as he did just say those figures. "Yep. Those are the figures that I am going to be paying for Christmas this year." Jessica agreed with Matt. "Well, I'm sure that Alex will love whatever you buy her; as long as you buy it for me too." Matt laughed as he heard Jessica say that. "Yeah, nice try Jessica." Jessica snickered. "Hey, it was worth a shot. Heaven knows I'm not getting anything from Shay." Matt sighed. "Hey, I'm sure she's trying. Also, please keep me out of your fights with her; I already have an awkward enough time as it is at work." Jessica was confused. "How?" Matt sighed. "My PA has a crush on me, and you're dating her best friend." Jessica was shocked. "Oh shit." Matt agreed. "So, I begging you, please keep me out of it; I do not need to be on one side at home, and the other side at work."

Jessica laughed. "God, I swear. I would pay to see you and Gabby at odds. Heaven knows that might actually make her stop having a crush on you, does she know you're married yet?" Matt agreed. "I've told her, and I've also made it crystal clear to her that there is no future with us. I'm a married man and a pending father." Jessica agreed with Matt, really happy for both him and her best friend. "How's she feeling, anyways? What do you want gender-wise?" Matt smiled. "I could really go for a son." Jessica was shocked as she heard Matt say that. "You sure you don't want a girl?" Matt was surprised. "Really, you too? Alex said the same thing! But for what it's worth, it's due to the fact that I'm the last Casey male in my family. I need a boy to carry on my last name. We can try for a daughter later." Jessica agreed with Matt. "Well, lucky for you; you both want to have a big family." Matt agreed. "I just can't believe we already started that family before we were even married." Jessica agreed with Matt. "Don't hate me, but I knew." Matt was shocked. "You knew before I did!" But before Jessica could respond to that, Matt heard his wife come out and respond to that.

Respond to the fact that her best friend knew that she was pregnant before he did. "Ok. I can explain!" Turning around to look at his wife, Matt nodded. "Jessica, can you do that for me? And I'll get back to you." Jessica agreed with Matt. "Let Alex explain and remember that she's pregnant." Matt agreed, more than ready to do that as he hung up. After which, he looked up at his wife. "Explain Ms. Casey. Why did you best friend know that you were pregnant before I did?" Making her way over to Matt in his chair, Alex smiled as she moved to sit down in his lap; while at the same time, she wrapped her arm around his neck and cuddled up to him. Meanwhile, Matt wrapped his arm around her back and placed his hand on her back; while also leaning his forehead against hers, as he listened to Alex whisper to him. "Who do you think got the pregnancy test?" Matt then realized that. "Oh." Alex nodded. "Imagine if it got out before I told you? Imagine if that was how you found out I was pregnant? That could've caused you huge problems." Matt agreed with his wife as she said that, while also wrapping his arms around her back as they held each other close here in his office.

At the same time, Alex put her hand on the side of his face and just smiled as she took things nice and slow with the man of her dreams. The man she loves more than anything in the entire world, her husband Matthew Casey. "I love you Matt, and I hope you know that I wish I could've told you first. I wish I could've just gone into a store and gotten the test by myself, but I was so nervous as it is. I mean, our relationship status was up in the air, I was trying to be supportive of you trying to work it out with Hallie, and we thought she was pregnant. Add in another pregnancy, and that could've led to you loosing one pregnancy; and then you'd blame me and might never want to be with me again." Shocked that Alex would even think that way, Matt wrapped his arms around her before picking her up in his arms and cradling her in his arms. Meanwhile, Alex wrapped her arms and legs around his neck; while Matt grabbed the back of her head and kissed her neck softly. "Never. I love you too much for me to never be with you again. I promise babe." Alex agreed with Matt as she cuddled up to her amazing husband, just holding him close as she relaxed in his arms.

The strong arms that she loves to have hold her in bed at night, and the hand which she loves feeling stroke her back. "Just to let you know, I don't need that much when it comes to diamonds. I already have all I need for Christmas." Snickering, Matt agreed with Alex as he grabbed his phone; after which, he carried his wife away once more. "I'm staying in my sweats. Want to go sit in the living room, or back in bed?" Alex smiled as Matt asked her whether she wanted to sit in the living room or in bed. "I'm already in my sweats too, and the living room. Mommy and baby need a snack." Matt smiled as he heard Alex say that, as that's something that she most certainly can have from him. He can make her a nice snack this morning, one that they can both enjoy with each other as they cuddle.

Walking back into the living room shortly after making Alex a grilled cheese for a morning snack (and one for him mas well), Matt smiled as he looked at the woman he loves as she sat on the couch; while their two fur babies laid down by the fireplace, which was really adorable. "I swear, they are so adorable when they lay down by the fireplace." Turning her head as she heard Matt say that, Alex agreed with him as that most certainly is the truth. "Thanks for putting sweats on." Matt shook his head as Alex said that, as he's more than okay with it. "Anyways, we need to relax and take it easy; we can't always have sex as that isn't healthy." Alex laughed. "Sure, it isn't." Matt smiled, as he thought the same thing. "Here, how about you get up so that I can sit on the couch; then, you can get in my lap, and we can eat?" Alex agreed with her husband, getting up so that he can sit down. After which, he did just that. He sat down on the couch and just smiled as he looked up at his gorgeous wife as he wanted for her to join him on the couch. "Come here beautiful." Turning to face Matt, Alex smiled as she leaned over him and placed her hands on his face before kissing him softly this morning.

After which, she leaned her forehead against his and whispered to him. "I love you." Matt agreed, as he loves her too. "I love you too. Now, sit down and cover us up so that we can eat." Alex agreed with Matt, before climbing into his lap just like he wants. After which, she leaned back against his chest as she put her legs up on the couch in between his as she leaned back against his chest. After which, Matt wrapped his arm around her and smiled as he went to put their plate in his lap. "Thanks for doing it on one plate." Grabbing Alex's hand after setting their grilled cheeses in her lap, Matt smiled as he was more than ready to do just that. "It was my pleasure. Plus, it's easier for me to carry one rather than two." Alex agreed with her husband as he said that, before going to grab her grilled cheese and eating her morning snack; a snack that she needs to eat for the sake of their baby. Their future son, William. "Just curious, do you ever picture our baby? Have them come in dreams?" Matt smiled and agreed with his wife. "Yeah, why?" Alex smiled. "What gender are you thinking of the most right now." Turning his head, Matt smiled. "A boy, why?" Alex smiled as she looked up at Matt.

"What do you think of the name William Matthew Casey?"
