In the past the others of her home advised her to get a hobby and on this day Renamon had finally admitted that they had a point. She loved to stroll the town and she enjoyed making food for other, but that's all she did.
Being a warrior, he frequent exercises to her was more necessity than hobby
Renamon looked ahead expecting a boring day and would be proven to be every definition of wrong.
A familiar scent would touch her nose from just beyond the walls of her home.
A scent she loved but this moment also feared.
She rushed to the doorway to see Seiko welcoming in a familiar man.
"Oh hello, Lee! Ruki's gone right now if you are looking for her."
Jenyra looked away and rubbed his head before finding the strength to speak.
"Really? That sucks. Hey, is Renamon around? I was kinda looking for her too Oh, there she is."
"Oh." Seiko looked back at her as well.
"This is unexpected but you have a visitor, Renamon."
Renamon gulped before speaking up.
"So it would appear. Hello, Jenrya."
Jenrya removed his shoes and entered the Makino household. In his arms he held a familiar box.
"So what brings you here today, Lee-kun, well, besides Renamon?"
"Uh...oh! Tea ma'am. Renamon really seemed to like the tea my grandma makes so I brought her some."
Renamon and Jenrya both felt strange looking at the other and both tried hard to hide that from Seiko.
Seiko felt inquisitive. There was something off about the two she could not quite put her finger on. Regardless she appreciated the visit and Jenrya's sentiment."Tea you say? Oh. Well that is quite nice of you Lee-kun."
Jenrya smiled. "Its the least I can do for a friend." For a moment the young man's eyes focused on Renamon again. Upon meeting her own he quickly looked away. She was not much different.
Looking at him felt awkward for her as well. There he was. There was the man she shared her first kiss with.
Seiko looked back at Renamon and made the latter feel like she was sweating beneath her fur.
"Oh so you two are closer friends than I thought?"
An awkward rush of fear could be felt but all that resided in the room except Seiko.
Renamon, ever so strong-willed and incredibly stubborn, forced herself into a more sound state of mind. Or at least what she could manage at the moment.
"Oh yes we are, grandmother. We chat every so often. H-he is quite a smart person. Kind too."
These were things Jenrya heard her say about him before yet now they made him blush.
Renamon's slight stutter in her previous statement agitated her. Thankfully Seiko did not seem to notice, but Jenrya did. It was strange to him.
Seiko looked back at him. "Well you always were quite a nice boy."
Just as both Renamon and Jenrya had started to appreciate Seiko for helping break more awkward tension than she had helped create she stood up to leave.
"Perhaps I will make some of this Lee Family tea for us all. That sound good Renamon?"
"O-oh. Yes, grandmother."
"Excellent!"
Seiko left to start boiling water leaving the Renamon and Jenrya alone.
"..."
"..."
Seiko was gone for longer than either of them expected or hoped.
"..."
"..."
Seriously, why was she taking so long?
"..."
Jenrya would be the one to finally break the silence.
"...So. How are things here?"
"Quite pleasant."
After a few words both were steadily able to speak to each other more comfortably.
"Its, uh, good to see you again, Renamon."
"Well, I. Its...good to see you as well, Jenrya."
The two looked at each other for more than a few seconds.
Jenrya was quick to blush and Renamon did so as well albeit less noticeably so.
Both knew they needed to address their previous encounter and neither knew just how.
Jenrya would charge into the topic with the only methods he knew worked, kindness and honesty.
"So Renamon."
"Jenrya."
"I'm glad to be here with you right now."
His statement was fairly simple but its impact was strong.
"Oh, well, Jenrya, I am..."
"Renamon."
"Yes?"
Jenrya closed his eyes and took a few deep breaths. Then he looked at her eye to eye and spoke more firmly and strongly than either of the two previously talked.
"I really enjoyed your last visit."
Renamon opened her mouth and then closed it. She was not even close to sure how to respond to that. In Jenrya's mind he searched far and wide for some kind of feelings of wrongness to convince himself what happened was a mistake.
In neither his mind or his heart he found any such negative feelings. The shame he expected to within himself simply did not exist. So with that in mind, he decided to press on with what they had started.
"I don't understand this, really Renamon, I don't. Woman are so complicated to figure out and it seems like digital women are about as difficult to me. Renamon, I am not gonna lie to you. You are too smart for that anyway. I really enjoyed that moment. I really, really, really liked the moment we had together. I've been thinking about you ever since."
Renamon was moved, more than that, charmed. She felt her head would spin and her body grew warmer.
Here he, Jianlinag "Jenrya" Lee, the man of all her recent dreams, sat saying words her suppressed inner self had come to want.
She always hated feeling weak, but in this case she made an exception.
"Jenrya. I...agree. It was a nice moment, wasn't it? I would never in my imagined it happening, but it was nice. It felt...
"Tea is done!"
Seiko popped in scaring the two immensely. They both hoped and prayed she heard as little of their conversion as possible. Jenrya pulled away his hand as swiftly he could before smiling to Seiko.
"Th-thank you, Seiko-san. Hang on I can pour us all some."
Jenrya's attempt to be gentlemanly was denied.
"Oh don't be silly Jenrya. You are out guest! Allow me."
He did as she asked. Seiko poured the three each a cup of tea.
Renamon grasped hers. Even before her first sip, that familiar scent put her mind at ease. The taste did more so.
A few sips in and she felt both confident and relaxed.
She glanced over to Jenrya who was drinking his more casually. Looking back at her made him blush and attempt to divert his attention. The fact that she made him blush made her feel nicer than she would soon admit
"So, Jenrya."
Renamon and Jenyra both would turn to Seiko again as she commanded their attention.
"Do you have any plans for today? It's quite a nice day today and on a weekend no less."
Jenrya rubs his head unsure of what to say.
"Well uh, not much today ma'am. I just thought I'd bring that tea here for her and see where the day took me."
He looked at her again. He couldn't say it in front of Seiko but he had another reason for coming and Renamon knew it well. All of his cards were on the table now. Never in her life did she expect something like this to happen.
She never had time in her life for love. Everything in the past was about fighting for herself and everything in the present was about protecting the family that had taken her in.
Never did she ever think about falling in love.
She looked at others and occasionally wondered what it would be like to have romance in one's life.
Of course like many, she also felt her heart or loin ache for another, but every time she silenced it. She believed in a strong sense of discipline and self-control even if it left her a little pent up and lonely at times.
This left her completely inexperienced with all things romantic. In the past she casually observed different humans do it and was quick to catch on to some things, but actually thinking about dating anyone?
Never.
Still while this was all very odd to her, even disregarding the species difference, Jenrya was a dear friend and kind soul. His surprising response indicated he did possibly want to pursue this sort of relationship with her. She wasn't sure what she was ready for it, but she would offer him a chance to say more once they were isolated. So she made up her excuse to get out of the house and speak to him to about it. "First of all. Thank you kindly for preparing our tea grandmother." Seiko smiled. "Oh its nothing at all dear!" Renamon returned focus on to Jenrya. "Jenrya, tell me something."
Jenrya appeared confused and uneasy in the eyes of the two others, if only at first. "You mentioned an obscure little path in the main park. Allegedly, it's a nice secluded spot by a lake, but I never looked for it myself."
When Renamon winked to him once after starting to speak he felt better about where she was going and would follow along with her scheme eagerly.
"Oh yeah. The body of water and other stuff around there. Its not far from where Guilmon used to live but the path is kind of weird to find. Uhh want me to show you?"
"Yes, I would appreciate it, Jenrya. Just let me gather you empty cup with mine and I will first c.."
"Oh Renamon, please." Seiko cut in with a firm "matter-of-face" manner of speaking
"Its just a few extra dishes since you woke up. I'll do that. You go out and have fun with your friends."
Renamon nodded. "As you wish, grandmother."
Jenrya sighed peacefully and lifted himself to leave.
"Yeah we can go now. Goodbye, Hata-san! It was good seeing you again."
"You too, Jenrya.!"
The old woman smiled. That boy was always so nice and polite. Perhaps the kindest out of all of Ruki's friends and someone she wished the girl would take more influence from.
"Farewell, grandmother."
Renamon turned and moved toward Jenrya
"Shall we go Jenrya-kun?"
Renamon's fist clenched and she mentally punched herself.
The way she spoke his name was so casual, even subtly excited. Worse yet, it was in front of Seiko! Renamon felt more embarrassed than angry, but still expressed her embarrassment outwardly through subtle hints all quickly noticed by Jenrya leaving him confused and concerned.
She was quick to leave the house and seemed very insistent that Jenrya follow behind her as soon as he possibly could and he did.
'Man...' he thought. 'Digimon or human, girls are weird'
Back home Seiko stared loading everything into her sink when a queer thing that had previously occurred finally grabbed at her curiosity with a strong grip...for a few seconds.
"Hold on now, did she call him Jenrya-kun? Huh. I guess they are closer friends than I thought. Maybe...wait, Renamon never refers to anyone like that and..."
Seiko wanted to think more over this but her attention was pulled toward her phone ringing.
On the other side of the line was an old friend of hers whom she was quick to get into a deep conversation with. Once it had began her thoughts on Renamon's strange terminology regarding her sweet friend were left far behind.
There were two. There was a human and a digimon. They both sat in a familiar bench in their favourite park one afternoon all alone. After some time of silence the man spoke up to break it.
"So about before..."
He looked at the one next to him. The tall and slender humanoid fox with gold and white fur looked back at him.
Prior when first attempting to speak he did not fail out of mere cowardice, but also because his young eyes dared take in more of her form than he allowed. She was toned. Thin yet with sizeable thighs. He felt shameful for his eyes going to that point so early on.
He told herself that she didn't, not couldn't have seen that. He was incorrect, She could more than read his looks. She felt oddly flattered. It made speech harder for her at first.. Not only did he admire her form but even then enforced a sense of willpower and respect that would prevent him from immediately speaking with a mind defaulted to lust. 'Perhaps this may work." She thought to herself.
He took control of his senses. Breaking through the awkwardness they both felt over a still very between each other.
He slapped himself to find more strength to speak again. She felt he was capable of more yet he had to inflict pain upon himself to force things to move faster. She didn't care if he took years to say this, at least he was saying it, but seeing the young man in pain made her feel pain.
"...I don't get any of this, okay? Having a relationship is weird enough for me but with a Digimon? Oh man! That's a whole new kind of weird."
She frowned. This was his signal to move in faster again but not before hearing a few words from her in perhaps the saddest tone of voice he had ever heard from her.
"If you have come to tell me this cannot be then I understand. It is strange and perhaps too strange to make work. As much as it pains me to hear you say..."
Her right paw was suddenly gripped by his hand.
"You didn't let me finish!"
She looked into his eyes. He was in utter despair and that level of pain on his sweet face could easily make even someone as tough as her break into tears.
"O-oh?"
He placed his other hand on the paw he held and lifted it up. He kissed it before looking back at her.
"Yeah its really damn weird, but you know what? I, I...like you a lot. You are smart and...very pretty. I wish I had a more interesting way of saying that, but all its true true. Renamon, I don't know how this works, I really don't. I don't have the experience the others have, but I like being around you. I don't know how we reached this point, but dammit I want to try it!"
It was very rare to hear Jenrya swear and it was something fairly jarring to her ears and mind. Still his every word would grab her attention so much as to block all other aspects of reality in her mind. The moment his true intentions were clear, Renamon felt her heart go a complete 180 and suddenly feel a huge sensation of excited happiness flow throughout her.
"So then...does this mean?
"Yeah, I meant everything I said back there, ya know?"
Jenrya pulled Renamon into a hug. Like before it was most of the most comfortable experiences she'd ever had but now things were different. After today she felt she would see many of these embraces to come. She looked at him eye to eye as he spoke again to her.
"I don't know what will happen. Heck I don't who we could tell, if anyone. I don't know and right now I don't care! I've been thinking about you nearly every second since that kiss happened. So lemme ask you, will you give me a chance?"
He said it. He really said it. Like him she searched far and wide within herself to find something to protest to...this, all of it. No such thing was found in her either. This felt right. So she returned his hug.
The rest of their day had little actually occur. They would move around from time to time and while conversing.
It didn't matter what they spoke of. They simply enjoyed speaking to one another and made the best of things. It was clearproved even now they had both grown a sizeable understanding of each other.
From the mundane and boring came a subject from the mouth of Renamon that made Jenrya curious enough.
"Grandmother says that in these more peaceful times I should consider seeking out a hobby."
Jenrya looked at her and was eager to contribute.
"You don't have any hobbies? That's a bit strange but I am more than happy to help!"
"I know you are" said Renamon is a faintly more coquettish voice than he was used to before she continued speaking in a tone more typical of her.
"Cooking is satisfying, but honestly I mainly do it to try and contribute anything to home. At the very least I've gotten passable at it."
Her last few words caused her boyfriend to immediately cut in before she had finished.
"You're telling me! That stuff back at the gathering was great."
She smiled and made a mental note to cook for him again as soon as she possibly could.
"Thank you, my dear Lee. For the moment I have been considering something else and unfortunately don't know what. I refuse to let myself get distracted from protecting Ruki unless absolutely sure she is in safe company like today. Even so in these peaceful times since my return while I am happier than I could ever be to come back things at home can be quite boring, you see."
"Right, right."
Jenrya felt her paw move to grab his hand.
"And seem to have discovered a new kind of happiness..."
They did very little else that day besides move around and chat but that is all they needed to have a good time.
The sun started to set and it was time for their day together to end. As they came closer and closer to the public they knew they would soon before forced to distance themselves with Renamon fading away from the public eye in an instant. Before she did her new friend turned and looked at him speaking to her.
"Well. I'd say that was a pretty good first date, well, if you think so."
"I agree. A relaxing day appreciating nature with someone you care for is a wonderful first date, Jenrya-kun."
"K-kun? Oh."
There came that blushing again and this time Renamon joined. Between fur and growing darkness she was at least harder to see blushing. Though she had finally come to expect her gentler and more playful ways of referring to him even if it felt as odd on her tongue to her as it was for him to hear. The strangest part to her was how comfortable it was to say. This was still quite a new thing for them both.
"Yes" She said. She would seek out more words and come up short. The man had a growing influence over her thoughts.
While lost in these thoughts he would launch a surprised attack planting a quick peck on her cheek before moving away. "Thank you, Renamon. I'll see you later, alright?" "Yes..!"
Rather than she be the one to disappear as she was known to, it was he that would soon fade away being absorbed by the groups of people in the distance. While back shadows on the edge of the park stood Renamon holding her paw on the cheek he kissed.
So far this had proved a pleasant journey for them both.
Jenrya walked home like it was any other day. He expected family to chastise him for coming home late, but no such thing happened. His father had actually come home after him to his surprise bringing with him the boy's mother as well. Jiang-yu and Mayumi had apparently gone out to eat together. This made Jenrya laugh. How likely was it really for them to be out on the same day he would have his first real date? It was absurd timing! Though nowhere near as absurd as the nature of his own relationship. He thought it over again. Looking over his inner thoughts his mind felt more clearer than he was used to allowing him to more easily search it all once more and find again not a even the smallest fragment of regret of shame. To be truthful the only things he found other than happiness was confusion. It was quite a peculiar situation. Though it didn't matter. He was happy as was she. It was still odd. Would it last? Would they even feel the same after months if not mere weeks?
He could not say. It was still extremely early and he was as green to the concept of love as they come.
The only reassurance he found besides the strong feelings for her from within was considering the foundation of the whole thing. It was quite good. Both chose to start a relationship with a friend rather than an attractive outside and both were able to come to terms with the awkward nature of having feelings for the other.
There was of course issues, many, many, issues and it all boiled down to what they both were.
Still for the time this did not bother him. For the moment he was feeling the high of love and nothing would bring him down. Together they would both face their feelings and see if what they really had was indeed true love.
