Shockingly Healthy Ch. 4

Story Start: The Monday After Receiving Our Scores

Izuku and I once more stood in a principal's office. This time though Bakugo was with us. From where he sat behind his desk Aldera Junior High's principal gave us a wide smile filled with pride as he said "It brought the educator in me great joy to learn that the three of you were accepted in the top high school of our nation. And for the top three spots in the Hero Course Entrance exam to go to the students of a single school is unprecedented, the three of you have done Aldera proud boys. I expect when the leaderboards change in four years you'll easily be in the top fifty, and will only climb higher in the years after."

"Thank you sir." We all said together, though Bakugo seemed to have only done so because it was expected of him.

Of course, Bakugo wouldn't be the angry Pomeranian we loved to hate if he didn't start something. We weren't five steps down the hallway when he spun around with a furious scowl and asked "You fucking nerds ruined everything! I was supposed to be the only one from this trash heap of a school to make it to UA! And not only did you two get in, you stole the top spot from me! How the fuck did you cheat your way in Huh?!"

I gave Bakugo an unimpressed look, Izuku keeping his gaze calm as he stood beside me as I said simply "There was no cheating Bakugo, just acting as Heroes rather than berserkers."

Walking past him I smirked as I heard Izuku tell Bakugo that if he was going to insist on not helping others the least he could do was get better at taking out opponents faster. Bakugo's resulting cursing was music to my ears.

Time Skip: First Day Of Hero Course

Sliding open the door to 1A I surveyed the people I would be spending three years learning how to be a Hero with, listing their names I remembered if not their histories; Taifun's price of taking storyline knowledge leaving some holes in my memories.

'Aoyama, Ashido, Asui, Iida, Ojiro, Kaminooh what the hell?' I thought, turning deadpan at the end when I saw Kaminari wearing not the male uniform like I expected but instead the female uniform, hair that should have been cut short falling down to about six inches below her shoulders.

'Primus Damnit Taifun, you couldn't have warned me there'd be some Rule 63 going on when you sent me here?' I thought. Cackling that only I could hear had my right eye twitching before I shook my head and continued looking over everyone. Thankfully everyone else I could see were the expected genders. Izuku and Bakugo weren't here yet and we were also missing Uraraka and Mineta; of the two I knew who I would prefer to have replaced. Damn midget wannabe grapist…

A few minutes later I looked up from my desk where I was ignoring Iida berating Bakugo for putting his feet on the desk as the door slid open and breathed a small sigh of relief when I could see Uraraka looking over Izuku's shoulder. I could work with the Thirteen Fangirl about a million times easier than the future entry on a Federal Sex Offender Watchlist.

Iida's gaze snapped to the doorway and he power walked over. As he congratulated Izuku on perceiving the true nature of the Entrance Exam I saw Aizawa come inch-worming into sight in his yellow sleeping bag and had to hold back the urge to snicker.

"If you're just here to make friends, then you can pack up your stuff now." Our homeroom teacher stated, causing the three students at the door to stiffen before looking down. Aizawa proceeded to freak them out by sucking an entire grape jelly packet empty in one go before he got out of his sleeping bag and continued "This is the Hero Course after all, we don't have time to waste."

Scene Change: UA Training Field

"Right, first things first, Kira come here for a moment." Aizawa called and I blinked before I said "Yes sir." and moved from the group of gym uniform clad students to stand by his right side. Placing his right hand on my shoulder, Aizawa stated "Kira here has a contact based healing Quirk and has been apprenticed to Recovery Girl for just under five years now. That makes him a Doc which in turn makes him your new best friend. Docs are the ones that ensure those they reach in time don't reach the pearly gates. They also are tasked with getting us Heroes out of the Hospital and back in the Field to help keep people safe again in as short of a time as possible. But while that is their job, they don't have to be nice about it, and just like other people they can hold a grudge. So be nice to Doc, and when you need them, Doc will be nice to you. Everyone understand?"

"Yes sir." The majority of the class answered, only Bakugo remaining silent as he scowled at me.

Aizawa gave Bakugo a pointed stare and the ashen blonde gritted his teeth before he said "Yes sir."

"Good, and Bakugo? I don't care about whatever happened in the past between you, Kira, and Midoriya, while you're here it's dropped. You are training to be Heroes, and when lives are on the line in the field there is no room for conflict between each other, am I clear?"

"Yes sir." Bakugo repeated, teeth gritting so much now it was a wonder he didn't crack one of them.

"Good." Aizawa stated before he looked at the class as a whole and continued "Now that that is out of the way, let's get to why we are here. Sorry to spring this on you so suddenly ('No you're not.' I thought in amusement) but we're going to be having something of a pop quiz. You all remember the eight tests you did for Physical Ed, fifty meter dash, grip strength, long jump, repeated side steps, ball throw, sit ups, toe touches, and long distance run. We'll be doing all of those but with one key difference: you'll be using your Quirks this time."

"We get to use our Quirks?!" Mina asked eagerly.

Aizawa nodded and stated "The Board of Education is procrastinating on their banning of using Quirks for these tests, trying to keep things 'equal', it's irrational. And while some Quirks aren't suited to augmenting physical abilities-" his eyes flicked towards the invisible Hagakure "-being a Hero requires you to be as physically fit as possible. So we're going to be seeing what you can do and where you need to improve going forward."

"But what about orientation?" Uraraka asked.

I laughed and said "Trust me, it's better we're out here rather than falling asleep listening to the Principal droning on for over an hour."

Aizawa squeezed my shoulder as he nodded in agreement and said "You'll be able to pick up everything you would have been told easily enough. Now let's get started with a demonstration." Focusing on Izuku, he continued "Midoriya you got first place on the entrance exam, what was your top softball throw in middle school?"

"234.6 meters Sensei." Izuku stated causing some of our classmates to choke on their spit in surprise.

Aizawa simply nodded and used his scarf to lasso a softball with a sensor ring from a nearby bin next to a throwing circle and then lightly tossed it to Izuku as he said "Go in the circle and give it a go with your Quirk."

"Yes sir." Izuku said with a determined nod.

As my best friend moved into position I said "Oh boy, this is going to be good." Aizawa flicked his gaze down to me for a moment before flicking it back to Izuku as green lightning formed around him and red veins ran down his exposed skin.

Bakugo's eyes widened as he asked "Is that a-"

BOOM!

The Explosion User was cut off as Izuku cut loose, throwing the ball at Mach HOLY SHIT and the air was torn apart from the ball's passage, blasting massive holes in the clouds it passed through on its way beyond the horizon.

"HOLY CRAP, WHAT A MANLY THROW!" Kirishima called out with a massive grin.

"We've got to go against that?!" Hagakure whimpered.

A different whimper, this one of pain had me snapping my gaze to Jiro and I cursed when I saw red dripping down from where her hands were clamped over her ears. Within moments I was by her side, gently placing my own hands on her head. Five seconds after they started sparking Regenerator healed her eardrums and I accepted the cloth Yaoyorozu Created with a nod of thanks before I cleaned her ears.

"Thanks." Jiro said, giving me a shaky smile and I gave her a nod back.

"Whelp, that's one softball we're not getting back." Aizawa drawled gaining all of his students' attention from the brief healing session. When he turned his phone around we saw the words 'High Orbit' displayed causing several to choke on their spit again.

"He reached high orbit with a 20 degree angled throw?!" Yaoyorozu questioned faintly.

Izuku laughed sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head only to stiffen as Bakugo shook his brain free of its internal BSOD and shouted "DEKU, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!"

Rather than Izuku, I was the one to answer as I drawled out "That was a Quirk that would have torn his body apart if it came in when he was four like the majority of ours did." With Bakugo's, and everyone else's attention on me, I continued "Izuku's Quirk came in a little over six months ago when his body was sufficiently strong enough to handle the strain. Considering at that point he was strong enough to be pulling several lawnmowers chained together with their wheels locked I shudder to think what kind of damage I would be healing if it came in before he hit six years old."

Several faces became pasty white as the rest of 1A tried to mentally picture said damage, some of them looking like they might be sick. Aizawa meanwhile gave Izuku a considering look before his eyes flicked towards a wall at the edge of the training ground. Following his gaze I saw All Might in his OFA Form looking around a gap in the wall with his Hero smile a few inches wider than usual. When I looked back at Aizawa he turned his gaze to me with a raised eyebrow for a moment before he gave a minuscule shrug that gave off the sense of him saying 'I don't want to know.'

"Oh man, this is going to be so fun!" Mina said with a happy bounce causing a needle scratch to screech through my mind.

"Yeah, Hero Course is the best!" Sero said with a grin.

'Sero, why?' I wailed in my mind.

"'Fun' you say?" Aizawa asked dangerously as he shifted his body language to seem like he was looming over the class like an agent of Death. More than one student let out a loud swallow as he continued "You only have three years here to learn how to be a Professional Hero, are you going to keep that attitude the whole time? Alright then, allow me to add a little 'fun' of my own. The person who comes in last overall for these tests will be declared to be without potential and expelled from the Hero Course."

Forget a pin hitting the floor, I swear I heard the clinking glass sounds of some of the students' minds breaking. Oh wait, those were Iida's glasses cracking.

"The person who comes in last will be expelled?!" Uraraka asked with eyes wide in horror. "It's only the first day! And even if it wasn't that's still not fair!"

"And you think the world is fair?" Aizawa asked, eyebrow rising before he scoffed and continued "Don't be naïve, the world is full of unfairness. Natural disasters, Villains, even car crashes caused by a car hydroplaning along a puddle into another vehicle. The world is a messed up place and it's a Hero's job to step in and try to make it a better one. If you're not willing to give it your all during these tests then you're not worthy of being in this class. So pull up your britches, roll up your sleeves and show me what you're made of. Go Beyond, Plus Ultra."

Spines stiffened amongst all of the students and I saw Iida taking a sip of orange juice from a water bottle. Aizawa eyed the students for a moment before he gave the smallest of nods and said "Demonstration's over, let's get started."

What followed was two and a half hours of watching my best friend make eighteen other teenagers eat his dust during the tests. (Literally in the case of the fifty meter dash and long run.) All Might really knew his stuff when it came to physical training. Adding eight generations of Heroes' worth of stockpiled energy was just overkill. Kirishima had wept manly tears of joy when Izuku maxed out the grip tester with OFA only to get just over a thousand pounds when doing it a second time without his Quirk. The only one who had beat any of his test scores was Uraraka with her infinity score on the softball throw. And the expression on Bakugo's face after each test was mwah, chef's kiss!

Once the last test was finished, Aizawa let out a small yawn and said "Right, it'd take too long to go over the individual tests so here's your combined scores."

As he projected a hologram from his phone with the rankings I searched for my name. Finding it at twelfth I gave a quick pump of my right fist. No quirk augmentation and I still managed to almost make top ten. Izuku naturally was at the top.

"Oh man, I came in last!" Hagakure said, completely dejected. There were a couple of plop sounds as invisible tears hit the ground.

"By the way, you can forget about what I said earlier, no one's going home." Aizawa stated as he turned off the hologram.

"WHAT?!" Most of the class yelled out.

"You guys managed to impress him enough that he's willing to let you all stay." I stated with a grin.

"Wait, you mean he wasn't lying to make us do our best?" Yaoyorozu asked with a pale face.

I looked at Aizawa for permission and when he nodded I moved to stand in front of the class and clasped my hands behind my back as I calmly stated "Aizawa-Sensei has the highest number of expulsions in this school. Last year he expelled his entire class wholesale." Now ALL of the students looked pasty white, more than one cartoon soul escaping their mouths.

Aizawa moved up to stand next to me as he crossed his arms in front of his chest and declared "It's cruel to encourage someone without potential, and I hate the thought of seeing a former student's name in the obituaries. You all showed me that you have what it takes though. But make no mistake, I won't hesitate to give you the boot out of the Hero Course if you make me doubt that judgement." Giving each student arrayed in front of him a hard look, Aizawa finally nodded, expression becoming approving as he said "You all have managed to pass the first day of the Hero Course, but don't rest on your laurels, it's only going to get harder from here. Syllabuses are in your desks along with important numbers and emails for your teachers, make sure you look them over. Class Dismissed."
