Chapter One

1991

Peverell Manor happened to be one of the oldest but lovingly worn manors in all of Scotland.

The color scape happened to be light colors, everything was airy and welcoming.

There were multiple greenhouses scattered throughout the acres and there was a separate but quite well taken care of a building which housed the living quarters for all the servants over the millennium the manor had existed.

Some of the servants were human, witches and wizards alike whose ancestors created an oath with the original brothers, while the majority of the servants were House-Elves. Creatures that were short and knobbly, with floppy ears and large, watery eyes. Creatures that spoke in third person, and created by Mother Morgana to take care of their magical masters and mistresses.

Lady Sabrina Peverell and Lord Linnel Peverell were part of the most respected noblemen and noblewomen in the wixen world. Lady Sabrina with her blonde hair, warm green eyes, and sunkissed skin was one of the most attractive witches in this part of Scotland. Lord Linnel on the other hand had quite light blond hair that fell to his shoulders in a straight and precise manner, stunning natural purple eyes, plump lips and artistically arched eyebrows. Both of them were people you would second guess creating rumors about, lest you want your own reputation dismantled and your noble titles taken away for the audacity of ill gossip towards the Peverells.

Their daughter, one not born but whose blood was replaced with theirs, came into their lives when she was only two. Her name was Hecate Liliana Peverell-Potter. Her hair, which once upon a time was a vibrant orange-red, was now the same honey blonde hue as her blood mother's. Her skin was still quite pale but there was a tinge of tanness that didn't disappear even in the winter time. She had a cluster of freckles that were smothering her nose and her high cheekbones and when she giggled she would steal the hearts of those around her.

At the moment, she was running around the front lawn of the manor while the daughter of one of his distant cousins was chasing after her too. Lily Moon was a Metamophmagi, she was a shapeshifter. She never had the same hair color each day and sometimes she would transform to look like her cousin so she could trick her aunt and uncle. They always seemed to know who was who, no matter how many times the little girls tried to trick them.

Whenever Little Lily (that was what they called her whenever they wanted to talk about Lily Potter) would be able to spend the night or weekend at the Peverell Manor, Hecate would have them rush throughout the manor with the family artifact in her hands. They would have the Invisibility Cloak that Ignotus once had, and would lay out on the front lawn in the middle of the night pointing out the constellations until the servants would have to be sent to find them (more like the House-Elves were sent to bring them back inside to keep them from catching their death).

"Come inside, my little ladies. The weather is about to turn sour. Besides, there's two things waiting for you in the dining room that have your names on them," Lord Linnel hinted, making both girls turn to look at each other before taking each other's hands. They jumped up and down a little bit in place, knowing exactly what it was they would be receiving.

While Hecate's birthday was now September 15th instead of July 31st due to her having a new birth in the magical world, Lily's birthday was September 23rd. They were about to have their first year at Hogwarts. They would end up turning 12 right after they would start their first year. They knew they had to wait another year to start school unlike some of the kids they knew but now they were able to attend Hogwarts!

Running past Lord Linnel, it was to no one's surprise that Lily almost fell down on the ground from the rug almost slipping out from underneath her. She caught herself at the last minute, glaring down at the entrance rug that needed to have a new sticking charm to it. Lord Linnel did so with the swipe of his wand, knowing she would rather she had been able to do it herself but they were about to head off to Diagon Alley to get their school supplies.

The inside of the manor was all light and soothing colors, there was no color within the manor that held darkness. There were multiple windows that were large and long, taking up almost a whole wall. Some of the windowed walls were stained-glass and depicted scenes from Avalon. King Arthur took Excalibur from the stone, one of Mother Morgana and Father Merlin together with their hands together and their heads pressed together. The Lady in the Lake, Viviane, in her watery home taking Excalibur from King Arthur.

Entering the more casual dining room with only enough seats for six people instead of the thirty seats in the formal dining room, Hecate smiled brilliantly when she saw her mum standing in the room with her gloved hands clasped together. Her own blonde hair was pulled up in an Arthurian hairstyle, along with her robes being a mixture of modern and Arthurian. Some even said that she was descended from a love child between Mother Morgana and Father Merlin, and it wouldn't be surprising.

"Linnel, Mo Luaidh (my darling), I hope you didn't have them tripping over themselves coming here," Lady Sabrina remarked, playfully rolling her eyes at her husband when he chuckled and rubbed the nape of his neck. She motioned for him to come over to her,and he did so without even having to be asked a second time. Their fingers intertwined.

Hecate didn't know how to speak Gaelic, even though she knew her parents did. She understood what they said, but she had never been very good with learning the language verbally. It was one thing to read it, and it was another thing to write it. She just sometimes wished she could speak it with them, but there were plenty of children her age that didn't even know how to read or write the language so she was better at the language than she thought.

There were two nicely papered envelopes that were sitting in front of two chairs.

Hecate and Lily went and sat down next to each other, their eyes flickering to each other in excitement. They nodded their heads at the same time before pulling their envelopes that had their names written in perfect cursive from in front of them. They opened them with the envelope letter openers that were in front of them, knowing that their family had made sure they wouldn't be opening their mail like savages. They came from a great and noble house, one that many thought were extinct but would be shown proof they were still thriving when Hecate went to Hogwarts.

Opening their envelopes, the two girls read their acceptance letters and giggled excitedly, turning to each other and taking each other's hands. They almost started jumping up and down in their seats, vibrating from the anticipation of attending Hogwarts together. They knew that they came from a quiet, aristocratic background that didn't even socialize unless they would receive mutual benefits, but now they could go and be around other aristocratic children their own age.

"When will you go and get Hecate's school supplies, Lord and Lady Peverell? I would like to go with her, Mother and Father will be attending the sacred ritual soon that will keep them away for a while. Mother needs her annual blessing from the Fae," Lily spoke, reminding all three Peverell family members that the Moons had Creature blood in them.

Fae, sacred servants making sure to protect the natural environments for all other living creatures of Mother Morgana and Father Merlin. They were not that many anymore, and in order to make sure they would not completely die off the families had to come forward annually and supply some of their magic to the Mother and Father so they could continue to live. Those that did not ask for blessings would have misfortune placed upon them.

"We'll figure out a date and then you can come with us. You'll be staying with us while your parents are away, like always," Lord Linnel informed her, earning a nod from her to acknowledge she understood what they were saying. Sure the Moons had other family members, but the only family they could trust to take care of Lily while the Lord and Lady were gone happened to be Lord and Lady Peverell.

Since they had gotten their acceptance letters, Lady Sabrina picked up the servant bell and rang it to signal the need of service. Hecate smiled at the little House-Elves that popped up, which were in order of the kitchen. They were dressed in their rich textured pillow shams that had the family crest embroidered in pure silver thread. They bowed their heads, their floppy ears moving in awkward angles as they listened to the request their lady had of them to make a late brunch for the girls.

Hecate hadn't expected for one of the witch servants to come bustling into the dining room, her simple but nicely stitched robes were magically charmed to be stain proof. She had her hair pulled up in a high bun but pieces were threatening to fall down. There was a little bit of sweat that was dripping down her forehead and she reached into the pockets of her robes to dab away the sweat that was dripping down her face, giving a sheepish look towards her superiors and aristocratic children.

She opened her mouth, but Lady Sabrina reached her hand up and motioned for the woman to catch her breath. "Evangeline, calm, and collect yourself before telling us what you need to tell us. It must have been something that happened in the village when you were getting our weekly groceries."

Evangeline nodded her head, making sure to calm down before she opened her mouth and said something.

"Headmaster Dumbledore is coming, he's here to take Hecate away from you. He's found her, and he believes that you kidnapped her and forced her into a blood ritual. He's brought some Aurors with him so they could witness the whole thing. They'll be here before long, he didn't follow me. I think he thought I was just another servant to another magical family."

Lily reached her hand out and took her cousin's, her eyes widening incredibly in fear. She started to tremble and without wasting any time, Lord Linnel reached into the pocket of his finely tailored robes to pull out a syringe of calming drought for her. She had always had trouble with her emotions and still was susceptible to having magical bouts. He both was concerned for her but he also didn't want anything to break around them because it would make her feel worse.

"Daddy, you aren't going to let them take me away from you and mommy, right?"

Hecate had tears rising in her tear ducts as she peered up at him, as he crouched down and put some droplets of calming drought onto the tongue of his distant cousin's daughter. She swallowed down the droughts and her shivers began to calm down, while Hecate was trying to act brave. There were still tears that were wanting to cascade down her face, and her blonde hair was a reminder it wasn't that vibrant red hair that her birth mother had given her.

Those green eyes were still there, they were still the same color as Lily Potter's eyes.

"No, my sweet. You're not going anywhere. I will make sure no one will take you away from me, ever," Lord Linnel vowed, as his magic signature wrapped around the entire family, circling and then rushing forward to connect with their own individual magic signatures.

Lady Sabrina pulled off one of her protection bracelets she had and placed it onto her daughter's left wrist, where it shrunk itself to adjust to the child's wrist size. Hecate didn't have to ask to know the pearl and moonstone bracelet was charmed to where it had anti-apparition charms to anyone who wasn't wearing the matching set, and the matching set happened to belong to her mother. It had been in the family for centuries, where her many great-grandmother had to create one for her daughter because other witches would want to raise a suspected sacred descended daughter of Mother Morgana and Father Merlin.

"Don't take this off, Hecate. Stay next to me, your dad will take care of this for us. Evangeline, thank you for informing us this," Lady Sabrina said, as she placed one of her arms around her daughter's shoulder. Hecate leaned against her mum, and barely paid attention to her as she informed Evangeline to Floo Network Lily back to her family manor.

It was no surprise Evangeline had disappeared through the Floo Network when the front door was knocked upon. Hecate stayed snuggled against her mum, observing her father leaving the room with his arms folded behind his back with his hands clasped in a combined fist. It was a subtle hint towards him having to keep himself in check and not deck the headmaster across the face for even coming out with this audacious accusation of him and her mum forcing her to blood adapt herself to them. Sure, they couldn't have children themselves, but Mother Morgana had blessed them with Hecate.

The front doors of the manor opened, and a conversation began not too far away from the lady and the heiress of the estate. Hecate let her eyes flicker towards the Hogwarts Acceptance Letter that was still sitting on the table, having already been opened. There was no way she could say she hadn't opened the letter, she was thankful Lily had left the manor with her own letter in her hands in order for her to show it to her parents.

The first person Hecate saw enter the smaller, cozier and intimate dining room happened to be the Head Auror of the department: Rufeus Scrimgeour and the head of the magical law enforcement: Amelia Bones. There were a few Aurors that were behind them, and then there was the one who was the accuser that stood calmly and seriously, Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. He was not only the headmaster of Hogwarts, he had a First class order of Merlin, was a Grand Sorcerer , Chief Warlock, Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederacy of Wizards.

Hecate studied the wizard that wanted to take away from her parents, and be given back to the Dursleys or to a family only he wanted to approve of. He had an unattractive shade of gray hair that fell down his back in a bushy mane sort of manner. He had a beard the same texture and color, tied together at the end. Colorful robes that were clashing and not appealing, they could cause someone to have a migraine just by looking at it. He had rounded glasses on the tip of his long nose and his blue eyes were shimmering with warmth and happiness but Hecate could tell there was something else about him.

"Ah! There she is, Miss Potter."

Hecate frowned at him, before she smoothed her features and straightened up her back.

"Excuse me, Mr. Dumbledore, but I believe my name is Hecate Lilianna Potter-Peverell. I was born with one blood, and I was gifted with another blood. I am both a Potter and a Peverell."

Some of the Aurors arched their eyebrows at the almost twelve-year-old, having been warned by some of the highest tilted families one did not need to let their guard around a Peverell. Lily and James were still her parents, the ones who brought her into this world, but Sabrina and Linnel Peverell were her blood parents now. She was a part of them, she was a Peverell.

"Mr. Dumbledore, if we are going to continue with this inspection to make sure everything has been officially done, then it is best if you call her by her legal name. It is Heiress Potter-Peverell. Please remember she is not your student officially, since the school year hasn't started, and her family ancestral line is more sacred than yours," Lady Sabrina commented, a warning on the tip of her tongue. She was waiting for him to be the one declared as the bad guy and not her. She moved her daughter's wrist so everyone in the room could see the fabled bracelet set, she was being protected by Mother Morgana now more than anyone else in the room.

"Of course, apologies. I am in the habit of wearing my heart on my sleeve and let my care for children overtake me sometimes. I believe we should precede, shall we, Auror Scrimgeour and Auror Bones?" Dumbledore probed, turning his attention towards the two Ministry officials.

They nodded their heads, Amelia pulling out two phials of truth serum (Veritaserum), right when Evangeline came through the fireplace. She must have provided her memories to Lord and Lady Moon in order for them to know what had happened. She gasped, her hand going up to over her mouth, her dark and warm skin becoming flushed in anger at what was happening before her.

"Evangeline, please go and make us some tea. Don't be worried, nothing bad is going to happen," Lord Linnel instructed, slowly but surely, his purple eyes allowing her to know he wasn't going to show any type of anger to them. He was already proud of Hecate for standing up for herself, since she had been accepted as Peverell by Mother Morgana herself.

Evangeline curtsied to them, before straightening up and walking into the kitchen. Hecate went over to where the chairs were and sat down at the table, having gotten tired of standing still for so long. She let her green eyes flicker towards the person that decided to sit down across from her, noting there was one less person who was in the room other than Evangeline because someone had to make sure she wasn't trying to fix the tea to only suit the family's needs.

It was Dumbledore that was sitting across from her, his hands folded together and his fingers tapping against the top of his hands. She glanced over to where her mum was, and gave her a pleading look as though to ask her to tell him to leave her alone. It was to no surprise her mum shook her head, allowing her to know she needed to stay strong.

"I see that you received your letter today. Do you plan on going shopping for your supplies soon? Or are your servants going to be collecting your supplies for you?" Dumbledore probed, making Hecate frown at what she had heard. She knew he knew she didn't go out and socialize at all. She was their sacred child, she was to help bring in the next line of the Peverells. So of course her parents would rather she stay on the property.

"I plan on going, myself, with my parents to collect my supplies. I need to get my wand after all. I'm planning on meeting Heiress Moon at Diagon Alley too," Hecate stated, earning a small nod from Dumbledore. She could only imagine what the portraits were saying in the front room of the manor, and how they couldn't believe the events that were happening.

"Heiress Moon? Ah, I think you meant to say Lily Moon. Her family is not an ancient and noble House," one of the Aurors said, only for Hecate's dad to narrow his eyes.

"I would like for you to not talk about my distant kin's social standing, when you know nothing of the matter. They are an ancient and noble family, but not when it comes to witches and wizards. It is rude to gossip about social statuses," Lord Linnel mandated, his purple eyes darkening in a magna swirl. The Auror that had made the comment ducked his head, probably questioning all of his life decisions due to the look the lord had given to him.

"Do you have a House you are interested in being Sorted into? Gryffindor, like your…like Lily and James were in?" Dumbledore probed, backpedaling at the last minute because he knew if he had ignored her second set of parents he would have been sent out of the house by the family magic for the level of disrespect he had towards the blood adoption.

"No. I'm going to leave that up for the Sorting Hat. All Four Houses are good. Godric was a brave and courageous knight that left the battlefield in order to start a school. Rowena was creative and intellectual, wanting to help spread knowledge to everyone. Helga was kind and loyal, she was like a mother for all the children at Hogwarts since some of them did not feel as if they belonged in any of the other Houses. Salazar was cunning, ambitious and misunderstood…" Hecate stated, her mind going to the tapestry of all four Founders she had seen before.

"Ah, you are correct in all of the founders except for the last, I am afraid. Salazar was indeed cunning and ambitious but he was not misunderstood. He–"

Clearing of a throat tore the attention of both Dumbledore and Hecate away from each other, for them to see Amelia Bones standing there with her arms folded against her chest. There were aging lines that were etched across her face, evidence she grew more tired and older with each case that happened. Especially ones that didn't need to be called into, but she had to because the accuser was a high standing citizen of the wixen world.

"I just oversaw an interrogation of Lord and Lady Prevell in the kitchen. The servant, Evangeline, also tried to drink some of the Veritaserum, but it wasn't needed. They did not kidnap Heiress Potter-Peverell nor did they force her to bind herself to them through a blood adoption. She is in no way in danger, and it is with this I will already tell you any further attempts of separating Heiress Potter-Peverell from the family will bring nothing more than dishonor and bad omens from Mother Morgana," Amelia Bones said, her eyes narrowing at the headmaster.

"Ah, you need not threaten me, my dear Bones. I merely had a funny feeling, that's all. Do not worry, I'll be leaving now. I will see you on the first day of school, Heiress Potter-Peverell," Dumbledore declared, giving a small smile towards Hecate.

Hecate didn't like the look he had given her, she could tell this was just a formality, in his mind she would always be just a Potter and not a Peverell also. She was going to have to deal with a lot of things like this from those like Dumbledore. Ones who thought that she was kidnapped by her relatives and made into a Peverell because her mum and her dad had decided they would go to extreme lengths to have a child due to their infertility.

Hecate didn't know she was holding her breath as he got up from his spot across from her and left the room, his robes leaving one last blur of bright colors, before he disappeared in the direction of where the front door was. She stayed still, almost as if she thought if she didn't move at all or breathe no one could see her. She just didn't know how to feel about this.

The moment the front doors of the manor closed she gasped aloud as if she had been a fish that had been out of water too long. She barely paid attention to the person that had pushed her chair back or the arms that wrapped around her until she slowly came back into reality. She could feel the arms of her dad, she could know he was there for her. His fingers ran through her hair, calmly but surely, allowing her to know that he was going to make sure nothing would happen to her.

After all, she was a Peverell, and one did not cross a Peverell.
