"Wait one moment. So -" Mr Tumnus gestures towards Corin, "- was really -?" At this point he looks towards Shasta, now Cor.

"That…that actually makes a lot of sense. And when you kept saying -?" Mr Tumnus stands still for a moment, still thinking hard. Finally, he cries, "Did you even really have heat stroke?!"

Cor shuffles guiltily. Corin looks as if he'll burst out laughing at any moment.

"...No?"

"By the Lion's Mane, and I pride myself on being so perceptive! Tis true, I was distracted at the time by strenuous circumstances, but-"

"Mr Tumnus -"

"…how am I to remain royal advisor having been so easily deceived? My, but I am a sorry faun -"

"Mr Tumnus!"

"…and to think I never even suspected! I must resign, I simply must. I am not competent to exercise the trust given to such a role, they should elect one of the centaurs instead. I told them, didn't I? Old Mr Tumnus is a fool of the first order, deceived by mere kids - I mean, children! - "

"MR TUMNUS! Please," Queen Susan, whose raised voice immediately quieted the whole group, placing a reassuring hand on the miserable faun's shoulder. "Thou art perfectly competent for the honour and role we have bestowed, and I will not hear you say otherwise."

"Indeed, I believe thou wilst find that all were fooled, and look - are these twins not of perfect likeness?" King Edmund offers consolingly, "Bar in manner of speaking, which I will remind thee Cor in the guise of Corin did avoid, not a soul could tell one from the other."

"In all other ways thou art wise," Queen Susan reassures firmly, "Dost thou not remember? T'was thy plan by which our whole company escaped the clutches of Rabadash. We are forever in thy debt, and I more than anyone else! If anyone should be called the fool, it is I, and yet the grace of the Lion was shown through thee to me."

"This matter is settled," King Edmund says with some finality, and Cor took the opportunity to excuse both himself and his newly found twin before they caused more trouble.

"Write someone's reactions (whether eyewitness or hearsay, at any point in time) to The Horse and His Boy when they found out Shasta was Corin."

Author's Note:

Disclaimer: thees thous and thys are used by an amateur and may not be grammatically correct XD

I don't actually remember if Mr Tumnus' reaction was ever in canon but I didn't write this at home, I'm in a library - *stops, pauses to consider* - I'm in a library.

...Okay so I could just get up and check to see if they have HHB and find out, but I can't be bothered because I was supposed to be doing research and writing a major project for uni and I wrote this instead. Hopefully it's fun to read either way!
