New Everyday

Olwen Clodeil

"It's morning. You have to wake up, Master Olwel."

Ughhh, I kind of want to sleep more. Please, just five more minutes. I don't want to wake up….

"mmm….."

After forcing his eyes open, Olwen slowly gets up from his bed and yawns. He then shakes his head to get rid of his grogginess.

"…."

Who is this person?

"Good morning, Master Olwen."

The guy in butler attire bows before handing him some clothes.

"Oh… right," Olwen gets the clothes being handed to him. "I live here now…"

"Yes, you still seem to be considerably tired from yesterdays trip."

"Please stop calling me Master, It feels weird."

Soleil then walked over to the door, before turning around.

"Sir Olwen then, breakfast is ready in the dining room. Come down once you've changed your clothes."

"Okay. Thank you."

Soleil bows once more before leaving.

I guess Sir is less weirder than Master, why does he insist on calling me like that though? Lune changed her way of calling me right away when I asked her last night.

Olwen quickly changes clothes and slowly made his way down the stairs in the lobby, admiring the the interior before eventually heading to the dining room.

"Good morning, take a seat here while I prepare your breakfast."

Lune pointed to a chair before making her way to the kitchen. He didn't have to wait long as breakfast was soon in front of him. This was literally taken straight from a cook book and followed to a T, English Breakfast. Which he hadn't eaten in so long ever since high school.

"Hm…"

"Is it not to your lik-"

Olwen picked up both spoon and fork, stabbing into a hash brown with his fork then taking a bite. Taking a few seconds to contemplate the taste before gulping it down. The hash brown was cooked just right, there was that crunch and there was just enough salt added. A well made hash brown fit for starting a morning. There was also the back bacon, eggs, sausages, fried tomato, and mushrooms that he hadn't even tried yet.

"This is good. I want this everyday Lune, Is that alright?"

"Of course, I'm happy that you like my cooking. I was worried that it wouldn't be to your liking,"

"Honestly can't believe I'll be eating like this now everyday." Olwen whispered to her.

"Oh is that so?"

Lune laughed a little and smiled before hanging back and letting me eat in silence.

It was a really good breakfast, just making him realize how subpar the breakfasts he makes for himself were when compared to this. He felt really energized for anything now.

"Since your finished with breakfast, I think you should head to the living room while I clean the table."

Olwen stands up and thanks her for the food before leaving.

Just entering the Living room, Olwen finds Ehketh and Soleil. Ehketh was wearing a business like suit, the same from when they first met.

"G-Good morning, Ehketh."

"Good morning, Olwen."

Ehketh said before taking a seat. Olwen followed, also seating on the opposite sofa.

"Oh, Lune. Please prepare a cup of tea for me. What would you like to drink, Olwen?"

Olwen spent a moment thinking of a drink.

I normally have coffee but I'll pass on that, maybe hot chocolate?

"Can I have….some hot chocolate"

"Alright. Master Olwen, how much sugar do you want?"

How much sugar….probably two spoons?

"Two spoons."

After that was just silence. Lune soon came back and placed both our cups on the table before standing by the wall quietly. Olwen took a sip of the hot chocolate and was greeted with a flavorful blend of Hot Choco.

It was a little over what I expected but wow. I feel like Lune could open up a restaurant or something if she really wanted to, this is really good. I'd pay for this but I live here, so its free.

"This would be so nice on a cold morning. It's just warm enough but not too hot, the sweetness level is just right also."

Lune, who was behind standing behind the sofa where Ehketh sat, flashed a smile and a thumbs up. A few minutes passed by as they just sipped on their drinks.

"I'll have to get going now, I'll be back around 8 pm. You may do whatever you want for now, Olwen. if you want to do something, just say a word to Lune or Soleil."

Ehketh went out the living room, Soleil following her out. This left only Lune and Olwen in the Living room. Olwen finished his cup of hot chocolate, setting it down on the table and began thinking about what Ehketh said.

Olwen let out a sigh. He wasn't really sure on what he should do… he was still trying to wrap his head around his extremely bizarre circumstances. Taking things one at a time was his plan.

"Olwen, you seemed troubled about something? Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Not really. Just wondering about something."

"If you need me, please go to kitchen. I'll just be doing my house duties there."

Lune bowed before quietly walking over to the kitchen. Leaving Olwen just sitting on the sofa, staring outside the window while he thinks. He sits there for about five minutes before standing up and walking over to the kitchen to see what Lune was doing.

"Oh Olwen."

Lune noticed Olwen walk in, she was holding a bundle of cardboard boxes. He noticed that the boxes were labeled. One was labeled Vegetables while the other one was Desert Ingredients and so on.

"Want me to help you with that. Lune?"

"Ahh… I appreciate your kindness Olwen but these are all empty, so they're quite light. I'll just be putting them over here for now." Lune put the bundle of cardboard boxes on the kitchen counter.

"Have you figured out what you wanted to do for your free time Master Olwen?"

"Not yet… how about you give me a suggestion? I honestly don't know what I want to do right now, so I'll just tag along if you're planning to do something today. If that's fine with you."

"I see," Lune closes hey eyes and touching her lips with a finger for a few seconds.

"If you don't mind coming with me… I'll be heading out to buy groceries later? We've been running out of some things so I wanted to stock up more since there's another person in the mansion now. But I'm not sure how Ms. Ehketh would think of that."

"Ehketh said she was fine with anything if it was what I wanted to do right? It's gonna be fine, I wanna come with!"

"All right Olwen."

"I'll heading up to get changed then. Oh wait… do I even have any clothes other than this?"

"You don't have to worry about that, Olwen. You should check your wardrobe, you have a lot of clothes and they should all fit you perfectly."

Lune gave a thumbs up with a proud smirk. Olwen quickly went upstairs and got dressed, before going back down to the kitchen where he found Lune, in completely casual attire. She was a spinning a key around her pinkie finger. She gestured for him to follow her. They walked back out into the lobby and they walked to the back of the lobby where there was a door.

"Where are we going?"

"To the garage, this is where our sprinter van and Ms. Ehketh's personal car is normally at. Well, her car isn't here since she just left."

Lune then unlocked and they went in, she flicked on the lights and Olwen could see how massive they're garage was. It was neat and clean and it was pretty much empty, this garage could easily fit at least four more cars but there was only the gray expensive looking van. Lune pulled the sliding door open and gestured for Olwen to get in. He honestly didn't want to be in the back seat again.

"Can I seat on the front this time? The back is so boring."

"Hahaha…" Lune laughed before her expression turned stern.

"Sorry young master but I have to insist you sit in the back for the time being. This is Madam Ehketh's direct orders."

"When!?"

"Last night after dinner."

"Ugh….fine."

Olwen went in and sat at one of the first row of seats. Pulling the seatbelt over himself. He could see Lune getting into the drivers seat, starting the car then pulling out a scroll, which made him realize that he hadn't even opened his scroll yet. He noted that he had to open it once they get back home.

"Soleil, can you open the garage door and the gate now?"

"Got it." a cold voice responded.

The van started moving out, it only took a few seconds before the van had gone out from another gate leading out to the main road. They had starting talking to each other as Lune drove to the supermarket. It was so odd, he thought. Other than the mention of things like aura, vale, grimm, or remnant. Here he was, having such a fun conversation with someone who he didn't even know him until yesterday.

"Can I ask you a question Lune?"

"Yes, Olwen?"

"How rich is Ehketh?"

"…..I don't know how rich Madam Ehketh but from what I've seen. She is abnormally wealthy, especially for someone at the age of 25 that my salary is around 25,000 Lien per week. It's honestly insane but I'm not complaining at all. I have so much money saved up in my bank account that I could have stopped working for Ms. Ehketh two years ago."

"Why didn't you then?"

"Ehketh's like family to me now. Kind of like a big sister to me that cares in her own peculiar way. She's really insightful, and while she doesn't normally go out of her way to talk to me. When I do speak to her, she's always nice and doesn't mind a conversation except for when she's busy with work in her room at the third floor."

"Hmm… I can vouch for her at least being kind."

"I don't know why Ms. Ehketh adopted you but I'm glad that I have someone like a little brother now…"

"Y-Yeah….."

Soon, they reached their destination. Lune went out from the driver seat, opening the van door from outside. He hopped out almost immediately. He turned and saw the supermarket, there was a sign above the building that said "Lomo Mart" and a bunch of people were coming out with shopping carts.

They went inside the supermarket and the first thing he noticed was the one the counter for payment. Whole carts were being scanned instead of them being scanned individually with a handheld scanner back on earth and the person handling the counter was helping the customer pack their things. It's basically how things were done on earth but the process for scanning stuff was so much faster.

"That's so convenient, so much faster than back on earth" Olwen whispered.

"Olwen?" Lune came back with a shopping cart and called out.

"R-Right!"

They headed first to the snack aisle on Olwen's suggestion. He really wanted to see the types of food Vale people eat, It was a little exciting to try these out. There were so many brands, that it was hard to choose.

"I don't know any of these brands…"

"I suggest you try this and this and you may get at least three small boxes of any snacks."

"Three boxes! I'm going to get Hi Bear, some Jeffers, and lastly this Cheese Crunch whatever. That's all for me right now, you have to shop for ingredients right?"

"Yep, please follow me Master Olwen and try not to get lost okay?"

"I don't know Lune, I might just get swept up by the crowds here?" He joked.

"Oyy! Don't joke like that Olwen."

They went through all the aisles in the grocery, putting all the stuff that the house needed for the whole week. Olwen was pushing a cart full of so much snacks and drinks with both of his hands while Lune was pushing two carts full of stuff as well but with each hand so effortlessly. That required quite a lot of grip strength for her to just easily push them around.

What the heck kinda training does she do? She moves the cart as if it was empty, even though there's a lot? Nothing too weird about this I guess, I am in Remnant after all. Maybe she has her aura unlocked or something.

"Wow, how are you doing that?"

"Oh this? Its not much. Just a bit of strength training here and there."

"I feel like you could lift a car if you really wanted to…"

Olwen wasn't exactly sure she could do that but he wanted to see how she would respond.

"Oh that I can definitely do. That van we used to get over here."

"What about it?"

"I can throw it across the street If I really wanted to."

"Really?"

"No, I'm just pulling your leg Olwen. The best I can do is probably punch a car and leave a dent without it hurting."

'T-That's still amazing you know? I can't even do that."

"I only know some techniques because Ms. Ehketh taught me, just in case any intruder would go into the property."

"Has that ever happened?"

"No, as far I know. It's been really peaceful."

They stopped by the meat section part of supermarket, where they got some cuts of beef and chicken then stopped over at fish section. There was a guy wearing a hairnet and a mask where there was a lot of fish on display.

"Oh Lune? Who's this kid?" The guy asked.

"It's just Ms. Ehketh's son. The details are quite complicated before you ask, I can't tell you sorry."

"I didn't even get a chance to ask," The guy yawned. "Okay anyways, what can I get for you Lune? Salmon, Tilaqi, or Trolts?"

"Hmm….."

Lune looked down and scanned all the fish on display while the guy from what Olwen could tell was certainly staring at her face.

Definitely a crush on her. Hmm, I honestly don't know but why else would he be staring at her like that?

"I think, I want 1 kilo and a half of Salmon and Tilaqi please. Ermm….. can you stop zoning out, Fenn?"

"Right right! My bad, 1.5 kilos of Salmon and Tilaqi coming up."

The guy who Olwen knew as Fenn, started on cutting up the fish quickly and efficiently. They left him and Lune started putting a few more things in the cart before saying to him that this was enough for now. They returned to the guy and got the fish they wanted before getting all the stuff sorted out at the counter. They hauled everything back to the van using the shopping carts, then they got in the van and started driving back home.

Lune silently drove and Olwen looked out the windows as he looked at everything little thing that caught his attention. He saw a normal group of students who weren't huntsman in training, a mix of boys and girls just chatting away while they walk. A business man with a suit case walking down the sidewalk. A couple happily talking together and the various establishments.

"Hey Olwen?"

"Yeah, whats up Lune?"

"What do you usually do in your room? Do you have any hobbies?"

"Erm… I like reading but I've just been stuck thinking a lot, about this world and Ms. Ehketh, you, and also Soleil."

"I've been informed by Ms. Ehketh that you don't have any memories of your life before they found you during her job. How is it so far?"

"It's half confusing but also not. Somethings are familiar to me, Like I know the four kingdoms of Remnant."

Well. I'm familiar with somethings cause this world was a show in my world.

"Are you not scared? Do you remember any parents before this? Any siblings? Something?"

"At first yes, but with how welcoming you guys have been. I'm quickly starting to feel more comfortable living in the house. As for parents, I'm sure I had them but I don't remember them. For siblings, I don't think I had any."

I really didn't.

"I see. Then I'll be your first big sister!"

"….."

"Did you not like that idea? I'm sorry, I got carri-"

"No its fine… I just wasn't expecting you to say something like that."

"So it's ok?"

"Yes…"

Olwen wasn't really opposed to it though, as he slowly started seeing Lune as a big sibling anyway. They talked on for a bit more. Mostly her asking about him. About what he liked, his hobbies and other stuff. At some point after being asked a lot of questions, he fell asleep in the middle of the conversation.

"So convenient, I have a book room." Olwen said, flicking open the lights to the small study that was connected to his room.

After getting home and being woken up by Lune, Olwen tried to help move the groceries but Lune told him that she and Soleil were gonna handle it from here. Lune had made this day lot more fun than he thought, it felt like he was on a trip with an older sibling which he never experienced before.

Olwen really wanted to repay her by helping out. But Lune told him to go rest So he returned to his room and opened up that scroll that Ehketh gave him.

It was a bit sad that it couldn't be used yet. Like with all new devices from earth, looks like remnant also had that instruction of charging the device for a certain time. So he connected it to the outlet and let it charge while he explored the small study.

"Remnant History 1, A hundred things you didn't know about animals. There's so much more…"

Olwen found two bookshelves, one was filled to the brim with educational material regarding Remnant, all the books were like that judging from the similar titles. The other was half was full of folktale and folklore books.

Olwen took a seat by his study stable and looked at the night sky through his window. He closed the light in his room and continued just looking. Something about it just bothered him. Then later, he made a realization.

Man…. the night sky back in Earth was a lot more vivid where I lived than this. Is this really a fantasy world?

Back in his Grandpa's house or his home in childhood, Olwen always looked out the window from his bed. Looking out and into that vast darkness with stars filling the sky.

It always felt like, he could reach out to them with his hands. There was this feeling of it being vast, untouched, and where the stars littered the sky and shined so bright. But here, it felt so far, so foreign. There weren't as many stars here and they didn't even shine as brightly that brightly compared to earth's stars, the moon here was also shattered.

At some point, the sky here had to be more beautiful, right? How'd it become like this?

Olwen's only guess was that this world had experienced so much change and conflict, that it all led to such a sad sky. He prepared to go to sleep earlier for today, he laid down and shut his eyes with one lingering thought.

I miss those nights... but I can't go back anymore.

There, he quickly fell asleep.
