Another Night
Lune Arbutus
Just after arriving home from the grocery trip. Lune silently sorted and stored the groceries in the kitchen. Doing her duties as one of the housekeepers of this house along with Soleil, her brother who was bringing the last of the boxes full of stuff that was from the grocery.
"This is the last of it. You bought a little more than usual, Lune." He casually called out to Lune as he started unpacking them. "Are these snacks for Olwen? I don't see you eating this stuff."
"Yeah, It's his. I just told him to pick up any snacks that caught his eye. He was a little adorable if im gonna be honest."
"Is that your only observation? I don't think Ms. Ehketh's going to accept just that."
"Oh come on Soleil, that was just my personal observation. I'm obviously not going to say just that to Ms. Ehketh."
"So how was he then?"
"Just a normal boy, a bit on the mature side but he acts quite his age. I guess he's surprisingly quite calm, considering his situation. He's quite curious about…. well everything. He looked around a lot in the aisles while we were in there, I could see the wonder and glee on his face. So he really doesn't know much about the world other than the kingdoms."
"I wonder why Ms. Ehketh chose to adopt him? You don't just find a kid in some ruin, and also bring him to your own house. I thought she would've put him in some lab first you know or some museum?"
'Don't say that. He's really just a normal kid. Well at least so far. I also think Ms. Ehketh is fond of this boy."
"What makes you think that?"
"Just a feeling, nothing more."
"You're observation would be correct."
Lune turned to the entrance of the kitchen, where she found Ehketh standing with her arms crossed.
"Since when have you been listening, Ms. Ehketh?" Soleil asked.
"Since the beginning." She started walking towards the fridge before opening it and yanking out a bucket full of her favorite mint Ice Cream.
"I've heard about the details of your observations, just keep it up."
"Of course, Ms. Ehketh."
All I see is just a boy who seems lost and confused. Even if Olwen doesn't voice out some of his concerns. It's sometimes easy to see on his expression.
Lune just watched as Ehketh made herself a ice cream shake while Soleil silently did his kitchen duties.
"Lune? Do you need something? I'm aware that you're staring my way." Ehketh said.
"It's just that I um…. wanted to take him out to go to District 10."
"Where in District 10 and why?"
"I want him to experience what it's like to be around so many people in a place like Glenelg Crossing. I think it would give me a better idea of how he acts."
"If it's only that, go ahead."
"Thank you Ms. Ehketh." Lune muttered, before excusing herself and leaving the kitchen.
She approved rather quickly…. I thought she would ask a little more than that. Anyways, I wonder If Olwen's asleep… It just hit 10 pm so I have to tell him to lie in bed at least.
Lune went upstairs and walked until she arrived at Olwen's door.
Gotta knock two times first.
Lune waited for Olwen to open or speak up but after 10 seconds, there was none of that so she quietly opened the door. There she saw Olwen fast asleep, without a blanket on him and his window was wide open. There she could see the night sky.
Oh dear, I should tell him to at least close the window before sleeping so bugs don't get into his room.
Lune closed the window before putting a blanket over the sleeping boy. She gently smiled as she smiled as she saw how peaceful Olwen's face was when sleeping.
"Good night Olwen…" Lune whispered before leaving and closing the door as quietly as she could.
