After the scare of her father almost catching them with their hands in the cookie jar, and the hysterical laughter that took over both Daphne and Velma at seeing their soulmates stuck up on the ceiling to avoid detection subsided. Starchild and Spaceman resumed their position next to both the girls on the bed.
Starchild to Daphne's right and Spaceman to Velma's left with both girls in the middle. Their glows had yet to vanish and the room was once again illuminated by the intertwining shine of both purple and blue. How they had managed to completely conceal their glow under Daphne's blanket was a miracle in itself.
" Well, that was a close one", said Starchild, he leaned back against the headboard and took a few small breaths to calm his beating heart. Regardless of Daphne being his soulmate, that would not have been the best way to officially meet her father. If anything, that would have been the best way for him and Spaceman to get the police called on them for sure. He wrapped an arm around Daphne's shoulders, if anything was going to help him calm down it would be his little lady.
Daphne happily leaned against her love's chest, his strong and steady heartbeat sounding pleasantly in her ears. It still completely fascinated her, the power surging through her, how all her senses were magnified tenfold, how much in-tuned she was with Starchild and everything that was him. She felt like she could very much fly up into the sky and do somersaults and cartwheels in the air with how happy she felt, and the fact that she could do just that if she wanted it was amazing. " Boy, if my father saw you guys in here it would have been a disaster ", she said back, eyes closing momentarily.
Spaceman let out a small chuckle, " That would have ended worse then anything the destroyer could have done", he joked. He also had his arm around Velma's small shoulders, enjoying immensely the feeling of closeness to his soulmate.
Starchild sent his friend a small glare, " You wouldn't be joking about it if it was Velma's father that almost caught us", he stated.
Spaceman audibly gulped at that, somehow the situation didn't seem that funny to him anymore.
Velma gave a small chuckle at seeing her soulmate's reaction to Starchilds statement, even if she herself found the situation funny just the thought of her father ever catching her like this sent a chill down her spine.
" I think that a lesson in controlling the glow is in order, I don't think any of us want a repeat of this predicament", stated Velma to the others. A part of her was also excited to start their lessons, her big brain eager to absorb everything on their powers.
Starchild nodded in agreement, they had to get the girls caught up on as much as possible to avoid incidents like this from happening again. He gave a small kiss to the crown of Daphne's head before standing up off the bed and positioning himself in front of all of them. " I think that's a great idea, the glow is obviously the most important skill to learn as it affects your physical appearance. Everything else can be thought in time", he said.
Daphne and Velma listened attentively to Starchilds words. They wanted to get a hold of controlling their powers as soon as possible. Spaceman gave Velma a similar kiss to her head as he also went to join his leader in front of the girls.
" Okay, well. Each of us has a different way of controlling our powers. We can show you girls and you can decide which way better suits you", explained Spaceman, receiving two nods from the girls.
Starchild spoke next, " My way of controlling the glow specifically is imagining how I feel when I'm on stage performing. I tied those feelings to my glow so that way when I think of the rush of being on stage it actives. Obviously once you get the hang of it you'll be able to control the glow as if turning on a light switch on and off", he explained.
Spaceman then spoke, " My way is a little similar, but the difference is that I tied my glow more to my everyday emotions. Anger, sadness, happiness. When I first got my powers if I felt anything too much it would activate my glow, but like Starchild said once you learn to control it you won't have to rely on any of that. It'll come as naturally as breathing", he explained.
Daphne and Velma shared a look, it sounded easy enough but if they had learned anything while out solving mysteries is that nothing that seems easy is actually easy. But they we're both willing to give it a try, they had no other choice.
Daphne closed her eyes briefly and gave a small inhale. Starchild's way seemed more her style then Spaceman's, not just because he was her soulmate but more because she was a girl who more times then not felt way too much emotions at once. If she tied her powers to them she would most likely lose control over them. But tying her powers to an activity that caused her joy and rush like performing did to Starchild seemed a lot easier for her. So she concentrated, thinking hard on something that gave her does emotions. The feeling of a victory in her karate class, the rush of surfing a big wave at the beach, the satisfaction of unmasking a bad guy at the end of every mystery. She opened her eyes, and was disappointed to see herself still glowing.
Daphne looked to the side and saw that Velma was no longer glowing, she couldn't help the surprised look that came with seeing that her friend had succeeded where she herself had failed.
Velma noticing her friends surprised expression gave a sheepish shrug of her shoulder. " To be honest, controlling my emotions and being level headed has always been part of my character. So tying my powers to being level headed was not that difficult for me", she explained with a small smile.
Spaceman felt pride swelling up in his chest, his soulmate was truly amazing. He himself hadn't been able to control his glow that fast, it took him weeks to get the fundamentals down and here Velma was getting it after just one explanation. How he managed to get so damn lucky to have such an amazing, beautiful, and extremely smart soulmate was beyond him. Not being able to hold himself back anymore he walked back over to the bed and brought Velma into his chest, giving her a big hug that expressed how proud he felt. Velma didn't hesitate to hug him back, she felt like being in Spaceman's arms was quickly becoming her favorite place to be.
Daphne looked down at her still glowing hands, disappointed in herself that she hadn't been able to get it as fast as Velma had. She wasn't surprised though, Velma was incredibly smart and if anyone was going to get these powers down pat it would surely be her. Before her thoughts kept their downwards spiral she felt strong arms wrap around her, all the bad thoughts vanished in an instant. Looking up she was met with the loving eyes of her soulmate, who gave her a bright smile as soon as their eyes met. " Hey darling, don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes these things just take a little practice that's all, and sometimes people learn at a different pace. You're amazing, and I know you'll get it", he said to her, the love and affection in his voice hard to miss.
His words hit home for Daphne, maybe it was because she was completely in love with him, or maybe it was the Kiss bond. But whatever it was didn't matter, those words alone were enough to give her the confidence she had lost a minute ago. She gave him a loving smile in return and leaned in to give him a loving peck on the lips, expressing without words how thankful she was at his words. And based on how his eyes shone brighter after they pulled back she knew he understood her loud and clear.
" Try again, you got this darling", he encouraged her, taking both her hands on his and given them an encouraging squeeze.
Daphne lost herself once again in his beautiful dark eyes, and suddenly all the moments they shared together came rushing to the forefront of her mind. When they first met, when they we're riding the ferris wheel, flying in his strong arms and that moment up on the rooftop. She closed her eyes momentarily, then opened them again and saw Starchild giving her a proud filled smile. She blinked a few times and looked down at herself, she was no longer glowing, she did it. She looked back up at Starchild with a megawatt smile of her own and threw herself into his embrace which he happily and immediately accepted.
" Great job Daph", said Velma who was still within Spaceman's arms. When Daphne looked at her from within Statchilds arms she saw her friend giving her a smile, she smiled happily back and reached her arm out to give her friend a high five which Velma happily did.
" You both did a great job, far better then I ever did when I was first learning", complimented Spaceman.
Starchild nodded his head in agreement, " Same here, I'm very proud of you both", he said.
They all stayed in comfortable silence for a couple minutes after that, enjoying each other's presence and their connection. Even without the glow the power of their bond was still felt in the air by all of them, intertwining within each couple.
Suddenly Daphne let out a long yawn, suddenly tired. Not a second later another yawn was heard, this time by Velma.
Starchild and Spaceman shared knowing looks, not surprised at all that the girls were tired. " I think it's time you girls go to bed", stated Starchild down at his little lady.
Daphne sat up a little from his arms and rubbed her eyes lightly, " Why did I get so tired all of a sudden?", she questioned. She had been full of energy a couple minutes ago but all of a sudden she felt like she could sleep for days.
Starchild smiled lovingly down at her, her adorableness had no limits it seemed. " That's because your bodies are not used to the powers yet, until you learn to master them even something as small as turning your glow on and off will tire you out", he explained while caressing the top of her head.
Velma also stood up a little off of Spaceman to rub one of her eyes, another small yawn escaping her. " Jinkies, I haven't felt this tired in a long time. I feel like I just ran a marathon ", she said, already looking to go back into Spaceman's awaiting arms.
Spaceman planted a small loving kiss on top of her head as soon she was back in his embrace, " Yeah it'll be like that for a while, but the more you use your powers the less tiring it'll be", he explained.
Starchild looked over at his friend, " I think it's time we put these lovely ladies to bed", he said with a smile, Spaceman smiled back and nodded his head in agreement.
They each picked up the girls bridal style and laid them out under the covers, bringing them up to just below their chins. Unsurprisingly to both the demi gods both Daphne and Velma were already fast asleep, in the few seconds it took them to carry them and tuck them in the girls had succumbed to the land of sleep.
Starchild and Spaceman both looked down at their sleeping soulmates, sleeping soundly and peacefully. Starchild leaned down and gave Daphne a small kiss on her lips, with Spaceman doing the same for Velma but on her forehead instead. He didn't want their first official kiss to be while she was unconscious after all. They both smiled down one more time at the two girls who had their hearts and then they made their way quietly to the balcony. Starchild opened the balcony door for him and Spaceman, and once they we're both outside he made sure the door locked behind them, he wanted to the girls to be safe.
" Well, seems like we're about to spend a whole lot of time in this little town", commented Spaceman. He walked over to the balcony railing and leaned down on his arms, his long black hair flowing in the night wind.
Starchild followed suit, copying his friend's stance as they both looked down on the town below. " Yeah, most definitely. I don't want to be away from Daphne", he said with conviction. He just found his soulmate, ain't no way he was going to be away from his darling.
Spaceman nodded in agreement, " I don't want to be away from Velma either, but we are still KISS. Unless we're planning on completely leaving the band then we have to find a way to balance out our duties and our soulmates ", he said.
Starchild looked up to the sky in thought, his long black hair moving gently with the wind. Then he looked back at his friend who met his eyes, " I don't think I'd be able to completely abandon Catman and Demon like that, I'm sure Daphne would understand. We are still KISS, and regardless of us finding our soulmates we still have a responsibility to our brothers and our people. We can still Rock n Roll at concerts, but as long as I get to come back to my darling that's all that matters. Besides, our cosmic duties don't happen often, only when threats like the destroyer resurrecting happen. So I believe we can still spend most of our time with the girls no problem ", he said to his friend with a small smile, his star eye was telling him that everything would be alright and he trusted in it completely .
Spaceman smiled back, he trusted his leader with his life. If Starchild said everything would be alright, he believed him. And just like his leader, he will work hard to fulfill his responsibilities to both his soulmate and KISS.
" Then I guess the first thing we should do is find a place here in this town, I don't think we want to be confined in Daphne's room all the time", said Spaceman.
Starchild smiled and nodded, thinking about making a home here where he could see and spend time with his little lady making butterflies flutter within him. He couldn't wait until she was back within his arms again, he just saw her a few minutes ago and he already missed her something fierce. Out of respect for Daphne's home and Velma was the only reason why he was leaving in the first place, if not he would have crawled into bed right next to her and cuddled the night away with his Darling, not wanting to be away from her for a second. And judging by how Spaceman looking down sadly at Velma, he knew his friend was in the same boat as him. So finding a place where they could both enjoy spending time with their respective soulmates privately was priority.
" Agreed, I'm sure we can find a place nearby. Then we should contact Catman and Demon and catch them up on the situation. I think our next concert is in California in a month, so that should give us plenty of time to get things settled", said Starchild.
They both nodded at each other in understanding before starting to glow, ready to take off into the sky. Simultaneously they both looked back at the balcony door, where their soulmates were sleeping soundly in the room behind it. Each of them giving a silent promise to both Daphne and Velma that they would see them soon before leaping into the sky and disappearing into the night, purple and blue streaks in their wake.
An alarm clock was heard in Daphne's room a couple hours later, a single hand emerged from under the blankets and turned the annoying sound off, bathing the room in silence once again. Then a head of red hair poked from underneath the blankets, followed by a groggy Daphne opening her eyes to the light filtering in from her windows. She sat up and rubbed her eyes, trying to adjust to the sunlight in her room. Once she accomplished that she looked around her silent room, brain a little foggy from sleep. She stretched her arms high above her head in satisfaction, she felt like a million dollars. She hadn't had good sleep like that in who knows how long. Then her eyes snapped open, all the memories of last night crashing into her like a wave. She looked around expecting to find Starchild somewhere, when she didn't immediately see him she quickly got off the bed and ran into her bathroom, nothing. Then quickly made her way to the balcony door and looked outside, still nothing. Sadness quickly filled her, she was hoping he would be the first thing she saw in the morning, but she guessed it made sense that both him and Spaceman wouldn't have stayed the night, didn't stop her from feeling sad at his departure.
Movement from her bed caught her attention, Velma also had woken up and was slowly rubbing her eyes in bed. Daphne walked back to her bed and sat next to her friend.
Velma reached for the night stand to locate her glasses, once she found them she perched them on her face and met eyes with Daphne. " Good morning Daph", she said with a smile.
Daphne smiled back, " Good morning", she said.
Velma took a second to look around, then suddenly her eyes widen and Daphne already knew what was going through her friend's head. So before Velma could even open her mouth to say anything Daphne spoke up, " Starchild and Spaceman are not here, they most of left after we fell asleep", she explained, still sad about her love being gone. By the sad look that crossed Velma's face she knew her friend also shared her sentiments.
" I guess it makes sense, considering how close your dad was to catching us it would have been irresponsible for all of us to fall asleep", reasoned Velma still with a small frown on her face, it still amazes her how much she wants to be by Spaceman's side and how sad it makes her that he's not here with her.
" I guess", said Daphne sadly. No matter how much it makes sense she still misses her love dearly. Something on the night stand on the other side of her bed caught the corner of her eye, she turned her head and saw a neatly folded up piece of paper on top of her night stand. She crawled her way over and took it, Velma looking on curiously.
Daphne opened the folded up paper and read it, a smile quickly forming on her face at the words. " What is it Daph,", Asked Velma.
Daphne turned to look at her friend, a huge smile still on her face. " It's a note from Starchild and Spaceman, it says that they have some errands to run but that they'll come to find us soon", she explained. Velma's face also lit up at the words, happy that they had some kind of explanation to their soulmates absence.
Daphne refolded the note and put it back on the nightstand, " Well that explains that, I hope they come back to us soon", she said to her friend.
Velma smiled at her friend, " I'm sure they will, they have no choice now", she said jokingly, earning a laugh from Daphne.
After her laughter subsided, Daphne looked at her friend. " Isn't it crazy, we're soulmates to two KISS members who also happen to be super powered. No matter how real it is, I still find it hard to believe", she said in wonderment.
Velma nodded her head in agreement ", Honestly the scientist in me is still skeptical, this goes against everything I've ever known. But then I think about Spaceman and everything that's happened and I find it easier and easier to wrap my head around it", she explained, a goofy look coming to her face at the mention of her soulmate.
Daphne smiled at her best friend, happy to see her accepting all this craziness. She knew Velma was all about facts and reasonable explanations , but seeing her this happy and willing to accept all this out this world stuff was amazing.
" I know what you mean, I went to Kissland only hoping that I would be lucky enough to even catch a glance of Starchild. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to be where I am today. But like you said, just the thought of him makes me believe the impossible wholeheartedly ", said Daphne, a goofy loving look that mirrored her friend also on her face, lost in Starchild filled thoughts.
They snapped out of thoughts of their soulmates and decided to start with their day, it was 10 in the morning, much later then both of them we're used to waking up to. They took turns in the bathroom getting ready, once freshen up and dressed they headed down to Daphne's kitchen for something to eat.
" Now that we have the glow under control, I wonder what's next", stated Daphne while taking a bite of the ham and cheese sandwich she made herself and Velma for breakfast.
Velma nodded, swallowing before answering. " Maybe flying", she said.
Daphne smiled wide at that, " That would be awesome", she said with excitement in her voice.
Velma looked a little nervous at that, " Maybe for you, but you know how terrified I am of heights", she said.
Daphne gave her a smirk, " You seemed pretty fine when your flying with Spaceman ", she teased, wiggling her eyebrows at her friend who immediately blushed.
" That's different and you know it", exclaimed Velma back, trying to get her burning face under control.
Daphne laughed at her friends embarrassment, " I know, I'm just teasing you. But seriously though, I'm sure Starchild and Spaceman will teach us just fine", she said reassuringly. Velma gave her a playful glare before smiling and nodding in agreement, she was sure their soulmates wouldn't let anything happen to either of them.
Soon after breakfast was done, the girls decided to spend the day at the mall. They would catch up with Fred, Shaggy and Scooby later. They wanted some more time to themselves so they could continue to talk about their soulmates, which they couldn't do with the boys around.
They walked over to Daphne's front door and opened it, ready to leave for the day when they stopped in their tracks in shock.
There, in front of them was Starchild and Spaceman. But what actually shocked the girls system was what they we're wearing.
Starchild was wearing long blue jeans that had rips at the knees, he wore a dark purple V-neck t-shirt with a black button up shirt that was left unbuttoned and rolled up to his elbows. He had a star necklace hanging from his neck, along with black and white high stop converse shoes. Even more shocking then that was that his long black hair was up in a low ponytail leaving a small strand to hang in front of his face, and his face was free of makeup. His tan complexion giving his skin a soft glow and black eyes shining bright against it, his smile bright as he showed his perfectly white teeth as he looked on at his darling's shocked expression.
Spaceman was also dressed similar. He had long black jeans with one rip on the right knee, a skull belt wrapped around his waist, blue and black converse shoes, a long sleeved dark blue shirt with a v-neck, a gold chain around his neck, no makeup and his long black hair was half in a ponytail and half down. He had a nice olive tone skin tone that matched well with his dark brown irises and perfect white teeth, with his left hand he was holding a black leather jacket.
Daphne could have died happy right then and there. She obviously knew that KISS couldn't be in make up and tight jumpsuits all the time, but she wasn't prepared for how handsome and sexy Starchild looked out of uniform. Her legs felt like jello at that moment, her heart beating loudly in her chest, her face growing a few degrees hotter. " How could he be so sexy!?", she screamed internally.
Velma was no better off. She was usually very composed and level headed but now in this moment all that went out the window at seeing Spaceman. She felt her mouth hit the floor once more, the palms of her hands getting sweaty. Her eyes traveled up and down her soulmates attire while her face grew hotter and hotter, if she ever had any doubts in her mind that she wasn't attracted to Spaceman, they we're promptly put to rest in that very second because she was basically drooling at just the sight of him.
" Hi", both Starchild and Spaceman said at the same time. They had made the last minute decision to come see their soulmates, since they missed them with all their heart. This soulmate business was no joke, it felt like they couldn't even breath right without the girls by their side. Seeing them again now was like the first time, honestly they couldn't get over how beautiful they were. And their reactions to how they were dressed was borderline adorable and flattering. Starchild felt his face grow a blush, and now out of makeup he knew it was more noticeable. Daphne looked gorgeous as always, but the way she was looking at him made butterflies erupt in his stomach and his legs become a little unsteady that he had to shift his stance a little. Gulping a little he said, " Good morning my darling".
Daphne snapped out of her trance at the sound of her love's voice, she had to physically blink a few times to get her thoughts in order once more. Once she was under control, she smiled a megawatt smile that only Starchild seems to be able to bring out in her and quickly jumped into her love's awaiting arms. " Hi!, I missed you", she said into his neck, enjoying the delicious aroma coming from him.
Starchild gave a small laugh once Daphne was securely in his arms, he felt like he could breath properly once more. " I missed you as well my Darling, I hope we didn't catch you at a bad time", he said.
" The only bad time is when your not around", she said back, going on her tiptoes and joining her lips to his in a quick loving kiss.
Spaceman took his eyes away from his leader just in time to catch an incoming Velma in his arms as well. Just like Starchild, he felt like he could breath properly again with his soulmate in his arms. He smiled a bright smile and gave her a kiss on the top of her head, " Good morning Velma", he said into her hair as he rested in his chin on top of her head.
Velma smiled bright in return, inhaling his intoxicating scent and feeling warmth spread all over her body and soul. They've only been apart for a couple hours and this was how it felt like being reunited, she was scared to see how it would be like if they spent days apart. " Good morning Spaceman", she said back, burying her face in his strong chest. Her blush intensified tenfold, " I-i-i missed you", she said shyly into his chest.
Spaceman felt his heart explode with affection for the girl in his arms, if he could keep her there forever he would without a doubt. " I missed you as well, so much", he replied, holding her a little tighter to him, not wanting to let go.
The two couples stayed in embrace for a few more minutes before finally departing from each other, hands still strongly clasped together they came together as a group. " I didn't think we would see you guys so soon", said Daphne while giving Starchilds arm a hug.
Starchild smiled, " We had some things to take care of, but I wasn't going to be able to stay away from you for long my darling", he said down at her, Daphne smiled and blushed.
" But now that everything's taken care of we figured we'd come by and hopefully spend some time together ", explained Spaceman with a small blush on his face while rubbing the back of his neck nervously, he felt like a teenager right then and there.
Velma smiled in delight at her soulmate's adorableness, she leaned up and gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek. " I think you guys had the right idea", she said with a smile, Spaceman smiling down at her giving her hand a squeeze.
" Can I just say that you look fantastic out of KISS uniform Starchild", said Daphne lovingly, her eyes getting shiny once more as she looked at her love, who blushed and rubbed the back of his head. Seems like back of head rubbing is a nervous habit that both Starchild and Spaceman share.
" We figured if we go out it's best to blend in, paparazzi have a way of ruining good times", explained Starchild sheepishly while pulling his little lady closer to himself.
Daphne and Velma completely understood, they wouldn't want people storming around them when all they wanted to do was spend time with their soulmates.
" Then it's settled, we're going to spend the day together!", exclaimed Daphne excitedly.
Starchild and Spaceman led them down the pathway leading up to Daphne's house, at the bottom of the drive way was a sleek black Jeep Wrangler unlimited with red trimming. Starchild opened the passenger door for Daphne and helped her into her seat while Spaceman did the same for Velma in the back seat. Once both girls were comfortably inside the car the two demi gods walked around and each got in next, Starchild driving and Spaceman behind the driver seat.
The car roared to life and peeled out of Daphne's property and into the street, heading for whatever destination the girls wanted with both couples holding hands tightly within the car.
