Shoutouts:
Narrator: Our heroes' Akala island field trip now focuses on the area around Wela Volcano.
Jordan: Is it really safe for someone like me to be this close to an active volcano?
Narrator: Good question, Jordan. What's in store for them today?
"Pika." said Pikachu as he, Ash, and Jordan looked around at the people. Ash was carrying Litten in his arms while Meeko walked beside Jordan.
"I can't believe how many people and Pokémon are out here." said Ash.
"And a lot of the Pokémon are fire types." said Jordan.
"Lucar." said Meeko.
"It looks lively, all right." said Rotom.
"This is the Wela Fire Festival." explained Kukui. "This wonderful festival has been held for over 100 years now."
"Cool!" said Jordan.
"Lucario!" said Meeko.
"Lots of history. Having fun, while learning Akala Island's traditions." Kukui added. "That's the subject of today's class."
"Let's go, everyone." said Kiawe, taking the lead.
"Ah!"
"Kiawe's really into this." said Mallow.
"He said he comes every year." said Sophocles.
"Hey Ash? How would you like to help Litten get stronger?" asked Kiawe.
"Huh? Of course we would." said Ash, walking a little faster to catch up with Kiawe. "Sounds great."
"That's what I thought." said Kiawe. "This festival's perfect for you."
"Everyone." said Olivia, getting everyone's attention. "The exciting Wela Volcano Festival is about to start."
The crowd starts cheering as the students start walking up. "Hey. Its Olivia." said Ash.
"Let's give thanks to Wela Volcano for nurturing Akala Island by having a fiery good time." Olivia said to the crowd.
"Sounds cool to me." said Ash.
"Let's have a fiery good time." said Jordan.
"Pika." said Pikachu.
"Lucar!" said Meeko.
"Wela! Wela! Wela! Wela…" cheered the crowd, unknown to them, a familiar looking Pokémon watched from a distance.
Olivia stood in front of an altar with her eyes closed, before reaching to get what seemed to be a volcanic crown. She steps towards a trainer and his Growlithe, placing the crown on the Growlithe's head, causing it to growl proudly. "Vul!" squealed Snowy as she and Lillie looked up the rocky steps.
"It looks like Olivia is performing her duties as the island kahuna today." said Lillie.
"She's so amazing." said Mallow.
"Sure. What's she putting on their heads?" asked Ash as Rotom takes a picture.
"It's a chunk of Volcanic rock." replied Rotom.
"It's what's known as the Wela Crown." Kiawe explained. "It's made out of cooled lava."
"Wow. I didn't know that Wela Volcano made the crown." said Jordan.
"When Pokémon are crowned with it, they'll become grand and strong, like Wela Volcano itself." said Kiawe.
"Pika! Cario!" said Pikachu and Meeko as Ash and Jordan chuckled.
"And apparently, it's especially effective on Fire Types." added Kukui.
"I'm sure I've read a lot about that." said Lillie. "The reason lots of Trainers from other regions are visiting here now, is they heard about it solely by word of mouth."
"I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for Litten." said Kiawe.
"Great, Litten. You'll see." said Ash. "We're going to get you crowned and then you'll be a lot stronger."
"Litt…." said Litten.
"Of course, you and Meeko too, bud." said Ash.
"Pika." said Pikachu, then turns to Meeko. "Pik-Pikachu."
"Want to get crowned, Meeko?" asked Jordan.
"Sure. I've always wanted to feel like a queen." said Meeko, smiling happily as she wanted to be crowned.
"That's because you are one to me, Pikachu and Ash." said Jordan.
"Guys, let's go." said Ash as he and Jordan ran to get in line with Kiawe close behind them.
"What have we got to lose?" asked Mallow.
"Right." said Lillie and Lana nodded.
"Hey, wait for me." said Sophocles.
"What about Turtonator?" Ash asked as they went to the end of the line. "Has it been crowned yet?"
"Last year. I was thrilled." said Kiawe.
"Your grandfather was the Island Kahuna, wasn't he?" asked Ash. "Didn't he perform the crowning ceremony too?"
"Hm." said Kiawe, nodding.
[Flashback]
Kiawe's grandfather places the crown on a Darmanitan. "Darman!" shouted Darmanitan as it releases its flamethrower. Kiawe stood at the bottom of the stairs with his parents.
"When I was young, it was my dream to someday have my grandpa crown my Pokémon too." said Kiawe.
[Flashback ends]
"Oh, wow." said Ash.
"There's no doubt in my mind your grandfather is very happy you made the decision to come to the festival with your Pokémon now." said Kukui.
"Right." said Kiawe. Just as Ash, Jordan and the others made it to the top, Olivia was crowning a Flareon. "Flareon!" shouted Flareon, releasing its flamethrower.
"Awesome. All right, we're up next!" said Ash.
"I'm glad you could join us." said Olivia.
"Thanks." said Ash as he and Jordan ran up. "Olivia, crown us, would you please?"
"Sure. Come here, both of you." said Olivia.
"Let's have Litten go first, Ash." suggested Jordan.
"Okay, go." said Ash, setting Litten down.
"(Meows)" said Litten, confused.
"Pika, Pika." Pikachu tells Litten.
"Lucario." said Meeko.
"(Meows)" said Litten as three of them walked up to Olivia.
"May you receive the gift of Wela Volcano's power…Uh!" said Olivia as the crown was quickly taken from her hands causing the others to gasp.
"Marowak!" said Marowak, twirling the crown on its bone.
"Whats that?" asked Mallow.
"Steenee." said Steenee.
"Marowak!" said Marowak, as it tossed the crown from its bone to the top of its head.
"Whats going on?" asked Ash.
"Give me a moment. Here's the data." said Rotom. "Marowak, Alola Form. A Fire and Ghost type. The bone Marowak holds is precious to it and its greatest weapon. It uses the bone as a torch to unleash an attack."
"An Alolan Marowak….Hey, give it back, please?" Ash asked Marowak.
"Marowak!" said Marowak, jumping down towards them.
"That does not belong to you." growled Kiawe, then rushes towards Marowak. "Give it back! Stop."
"Marowak!" said Marowak, getting away from Kiawe's arms then twirls its bone in its hand. "Marowak!"
"All right, enough already." said Ash, making a grab for Marowak who dodges him.
"Maro, Maro, Maro. Wak, Wak, Wak." said Marowak, teasing everyone.
"Man, it's getting on my nerves." said Sophocles.
"We've got to stop it somehow." said Lillie.
"That Marowak has an attitude problem and I plan on fixing it!" said Jordan.
"Lucar! Lucario!" said Meeko, agreeing with Jordan as she points to Marowak.
"Marowak! Mar!" said Marowak as it uses its bone to help it jump over the Pokémon School students and ran down the stairs, past Trainers and their Fire Type Pokémon.
"Whats it doing?" asked one trainer.
"Cut it out, Marowak." said another trainer.
"That's not yours." said a third trainer.
"Marowak!" shouted Marowak as it uses Bonemerang on the two trainers in front of him.
"Come back! You're a thief!" Olivia shouted after Marowak.
"Olivia." Kukui said, stopping the kahuna in her tracks. "First we need to calm everybody down."
"But how?" she asked.
"I'll get it back. Let's go, Turtonator." said Kiawe and takes off.
"Kiawe, wait up!" Ash called out after him. "Jordan, Meeko, Pikachu, Litten, let's go!"
"Right! Cario!" said Jordan and Meeko.
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
"Ash, Jordan, be careful." said Kukui.
"Now, Heatmor, go!" shouted a Trainer when Marowak jumps onto his Pokémon's head, swinging its bone.
"Marowak!" shouted Marowak as it jumps over the side.
"Get back here!" shouted Ash and Jordan as they chase after Marowak.
"Ash, Jordan, this way." said Kiawe, running in another direction.
"Huh?" said Ash as they came to a fork in the road. "Which way do we go?"
"The chance it went right is 50%." said Rotom. "The chance it went left is also 50%."
"So…in other words, it's a 50/50 chance of being right or left." said Jordan. "Good to know about that, Rotom."
"We can only pick one of them." said Ash, tilting his head to the side.
"Whats wrong?" asked Kiawe, panting.
"Get a hold of yourself, Magmar." said a hiker with a Magmar.
"You okay?" Kiawe asked.
"Hey there, dude." said another hiker. "Are you chasing after that Marowak? I wouldn't….Ah!"
"Hey dude." said a third hiker as Kiawe moved the second one. "Are you chasing after that Marowak, too?"
"Which way did Marowak go?" asked a frustrated Kiawe, turning slightly blue.
"Hey, dude. Are you chasing after that Marowak, too?" The first hiker asked. "I wouldn't do that….."
"Which way did Marowak go?" Kiawe asked again in anger.
"Which way did it go?" all three hikers asked, then pointed in behind them. "It went that way."
"So weird." said Kiawe as he ran in the direction the hikers were pointing at until he sees Marowak, dancing in a circle as it sings while twirling its bone.
"Wak! Marowak. Marowak?" said Marowak as it turns to face Kiawe.
"Hand over that crown right now." demanded Kiawe.
"Marowak…." said Marowak, indicating that it wanted to have a battle.
"You want to battle me?" Kiawe asked. "All right, then. I'll take it back after I defeat you."
"Turtonator." bellowed Turtonator, releasing some flames as it landed hard on the ground. Marowak hits its bone on its head, sparking a green fire on the end. "Marowak. Maro! Marowak!" said Marowak, swinging its bone before spinning into a ball.
"Flamethrower, let's go!" shouted Kiawe.
"Turto!" shouted Turtonator, releasing a strong flamethrower from its nose.
"Mar!" shouted Marowak, hitting Turtonator in the nose.
"Ah!"
"Marowak!" shouted Marowak, heading towards Turtonator with its bone stretched out.
"All right, Dragon Tail!" shouted Kiawe.
"Turto! Turto! Turto! Turto!" shouted Turtonator as its tail glowed orange and starts swinging.
"Marowak!" said Marowak dodging before Turtonator's tail made contact, letting it hit the ground.
"Oh, no." said Kiawe, worriedly.
"Maro! (Grunts) Maro! Marowak!" shouted Marowak, running towards Turtonator.
"Turto!" said Turtonator, pushing Marowak back with its body.
"Maro! Maro!" said Marowak, preparing another attack with purple and blue, aiming it at Turtonator's head. "Marowak!"
"Turto!" groaned Turtonator.
"Turtonator, you okay?" asked Kiawe.
"Marowak." said Marowak, glaring at Kiawe.
"(grunts) Lets wrap this up in one shot." said Kiawe, ready for a Z-Move. "Go."
"Turto." said Turtonator.
"Maro." said Marowak, tilting its head in curiosity.
"All right, Inferno Overdrive." yelled Kiawe.
"Turtonator!" bellowed Turtonator, gathering its energy and releasing Inferno Overdrive at Marowak, who then jumps out of the way.
"Marowak!" yelled Marowak as it turns part of its head hard and headbutts Turtonator.
"Turt! Nat!" groaned Turtonator as it walked, swaying side to side before falling to the ground.
"No. Turtonator!" shouted Kiawe as he ran towards his Pokémon. "Turtonator, are you alright?"
"Maro, Maro….." said Marowak, smacking its bone against its hand.
"Marowak, where are you?" Ash and Jordan called out as they reached Kiawe and Turtonator.
"Pika." said Pikachu.
"Lucario." said Meeko.
"They're in trouble." said Rotom as Litten meows.
"Kiawe! Turtonator!" shouted Ash as he and Jordan ran up to them.
"Marowak." said Marowak and disappears from sight. At the Pokémon center, Kiawe stood outside the door, waiting for Turtonator.
"Who would've thought Kiawe and Turtonator would be defeated?" asked Sophocles.
"We did our best. We couldn't get the crown back." said Ash. Kiawe grunts as he balled up a fist
"And now it's time to do it the Jordan way." said Jordan.
"Pika, Pika." Pikachu tells her.
"Fine, Pikachu. I won't do it." grumbled Jordan.
"Lucario!" said Meeko.
"Pikachu!" Pikachu warned her, sparks flying from his cheeks.
"Huh?" said Ash as he and Rotom see Kiawe sitting on the steps with Turtonator in front of him.
"Turto." said Turtonator, hearing Ash walk down.
"Glad you're all healed." he said to Turtonator. "Looking good."
"Yeah, thanks." said Kiawe.
"Pika." Pikachu said to Turtonator.
"Turto." it replied.
"(meows)" said Litten.
"Your health is at 100%." said Rotom.
"I'm sorry, Turtonator." said Kiawe.
"Turto?" asked Turtonator.
"I was preoccupied with the crown. I wasn't paying attention to the actual battle." Kiawe explained. "I didn't read Marowak's movements. I assumed using a Z-Move would assure us the win."
"Nator." said Turtonator.
"I should've known better." said Kiawe. "Grandpa taught me that battling is observing and understanding your opponent."
[Flashback]
Kiawe and his grandpa stood at the ranch, looking up at Wela Volcano. "I've always wanted to be an exceptional strong trainer who could connect with Pokémon and protect everyone." said Kiawe. Kiawe starts looking up at his grandpa with joy on his face.
Kiawe stood behind Turtonator as it was being crowned by Olivia. "That's how my grandpa was. That's how I wanted to be." said Kiawe. "Having you as my partner and watching you wear the Wela Crown, it made me feel like I was that strong."
[Flashback ends]
"I wasn't. Even if you were crowned and ever if we're now able to use a Z-Move, I never, ever should have become content with that." Kiawe tells Turtonator. "It's just like Wela Volcano, burning with my heart should always be my fiery desire to get stronger."
"Like Wela Volcano?" Ash asked. "That's really something to go for."
"It's a goal I'm not sure I can attain." said Kiawe.
"Come on. Got to dream big." said Ash then hops down from the steps of the Pokémon center. "Let's dream big together. Being a Pokémon Master is what I want and knowing Jordan, she would tell you that she wants to be the strongest Pokémon trainer that she wants to be."
"Pikachu!" said Pikachu.
"Ash and Jordan never do things half way." said Rotom.
"You're right." said Kiawe, standing up from the steps. "I hate getting beaten and staying beaten. I'll defeat that Marowak, then I'll get back that crown. Of course, I'll need Jordan's help."
"Now you're talking. I say we train." said Ash.
"Yeah." said Kiawe in agreement.
"Turto!" shouted Turtonator.
"The best of luck to both of you." said Rotom as Litten snoozes away behind him.
"Here I come." said Ash.
"Pika." said Pikachu.
"Right! Alright, Turtonator." said Kiawe. "Let's devise a strategy to beat that Marowak."
"Turto!"
"Pikachu, use Quick Attack!" shouted Ash.
"Pika. Pi, pi, pi…." said Pikachu, making his way towards Turtonator.
"Turtonator, get ready." said Kiawe.
"Turto!" bellowed Turtonator, turning around with his spikes facing Pikachu.
"Watch out for the spikes on its shell!" shouted Ash.
"Pika!" said Pikachu, jumping up and missing Turtonator's spikes. "Pika!"
"Turto!" exclaimed Turtonator.
"He dodged those spikes perfectly." said Rotom.
"That's because Pikachu has had some practice." said Jordan, yawning with a blanket around her and Meeko.
"What are you doing up?" asked Rotom.
"I heard them talking so I might as well get up." she tells him. "Plus, I want to give Marowak a good 'Wak' on its head with its bone."
"Pikachu's good." said Kiawe.
"Okay, buddy, run." said Ash.
"Pika!" said Pikachu, landing behind Turtonator, creating some dust before running around it.
"All we have to do is avoid those spikes." said Ash. "All right, use Iron Tail!"
"Pika! Pika!" shouted Pikachu as his tail glows, hitting Turtonator in the neck
"Turto!" groaned Turtonator, feeling Pikachu's Iron Tail make contact.
"Electro Ball!" shouted Ash.
"Pika, pika, pika, pika….Pikachu, pi!"
"Use Flamethrower!" shouted Kiawe.
"Turtonator!" bellowed Turtonator, releasing its Flamethrower and cancels Pikachu's attack.
"Pi!" panted Pikachu.
"Pikachu, run one more time." said Ash.
"Pika!" shouted Pikachu, running around Turtonator again.
"Turtonator." said Turtonator, following Pikachu around in a circle.
"Now, Iron Tail." said Ash.
"Pika! Pika!" shouted Pikachu, his tail glowing once more and hits Turtonator all over its body, causing it to groan. "Pika! Pi!"
"Hang in there, Turtonator." Kiawe called out. "Competing against Pikachu's speed isn't going to work. We lost to Marowak for the same reason."
"It's impossible to win on defense." Ash called out to Kiawe.
"The best defense is a good offense." said Jordan, causing Kiawe to turn his attention to her.
"Huh?" said Kiawe, then realize what they were both talking about.
"Okay. Use Thunderbolt." said Ash.
"Pikachu!" screamed Pikachu as Turtonator gets ready for impact. "Pi!"
"Turtonator, no!" shouted Kiawe as Turtonator is thrown back by Pikachu's Thunderbolt.
"Turtonator." groaned Turtonator.
"I know there's a limit to withstanding these attacks." thought Kiawe. "But what am I supposed to do?"
"Turto." Turtonator said to Kiawe.
"Turtonator?" asked Kiawe.
"Turto." it tells him.
"Ah." said Kiawe, seeing the fire blazed in Turtonator's eyes.
"Even though Turtonator is always calm, a fierce fire burns inside. Hm. Alright, then. Let's see it. Your inner Wela Volcano."
"Turto." nodded Turtonator, then makes a fist as its body starts to glow. "Turto…."
Ash and Jordan gasps at this. "Pika?" asked Pikachu.
"Cari?" asked Meeko.
"Now what?" asked Rotom.
"Magmar!" sobbed one of the hikers the next day as Magmar was wheeled in.
"Please save Magmar, Nurse Joy, please." sobbed all three hikers.
"Don't worry. It'll be fine." said Nurse Joy.
"So, no crown?" asked Kukui.
"No crown. Kiawe's challenge didn't work, just like theirs." said Olivia, pointing to the three hikers as they were pulled away by Chansey.
"That Marowak, why did it steal the Wela Crown in the first place?" asked Mallow.
"Good question." said Lillie.
"I'm certain Marowak has its reasons." said Olivia. "But still, you and I know the Wela Crown is one of Akala Island's most precious treasures. I've got to get it back, no matter what."
"You're going to go after Marowak?" asked Kukui.
"Hm. Since I'm island kahuna, I have to, right? I'll go." Olivia tells him.
"Wait, please." Kiawe called out.
"Huh?"
"Olivia. Do me a favor." said Kiawe.
"Kiawe?" questioned Olivia.
"Instead of you getting back the Wela Crown, please won't you let me try again?" Kiawe asked.
"Can you?" she asked him.
"Yes, I can." he replied.
"Great. I'm counting on you." Olivia said with a smile.
"Thank you very much." said Kiawe.
"Wow. What a change." said Sophocles.
"It's amazing." said Mallow. "He's so much different."
"Yeah, happy. Confident, too." said Lana.
"It's because they trained." said Ash.
"Pikachu!" said Pikachu as Ash runs up behind Kiawe.
"I'm sure you're going to win after all that training we did. Right?" Ash asked Kiawe.
"Right." said Kiawe after taking a glance at Turtonator.
"Ash, where's Jordan?" asked Kukui.
"She's…." Ash started to say when Jordan ran up.
"Right here." she said. "I had to grab something for emergencies only." Out on Wela Volcano, Marowak held the crown high above its head. "Maro?" it asked, seeing Kiawe walk up behind it with Turtonator.
"There it is." said Mallow.
"Marowak, we want a rematch!" demanded Kiawe.
"Marowak." said Marowak, placing the crown back on its head. The others stood behind Kiawe as he and Marowak glared at each other.
"Maro. Marowak!" grunted Marowak as it takes off towards Turtonator and tosses its bone. "Marowak!"
"Use Dragon Tail." Kiawe called out.
"Turto." said Turtonator as its tail glows and swings it around. "Turtonator. Turto. Turtonator!"
"Mar!" shouted Marowak, catching its bone once Turtonator knocked it back and hardened its head. "Marowak!"
"Turtonator!" grunted Turtonator as Marowak's head made contact with its body and tries to punch it.
"Marowak!" shouted Marowak, dodging Turtonator's punch.
"It's like Turtonator's being toyed with." said Lillie. "How will it be able to land an attack?"
"Oh. Turtonator needs to figure out how to deal with Marowak's speed." said Sophocles.
"But how?" asked Mallow. "It looks hopeless."
"Ha." said Ash.
"Maro." said Marowak, lighting its bone with green flames before taking a spin. "Maro, Maro, Maro!"
"Flamethrower, let's go!" said Kiawe.
"Turto!" shouted Turtonator, releasing Flamethrower from its nose and cancelling Marowak's attack, causing wind and heat to be felt by the other students.
"Huh?" said Lana as Popplio grabs onto her shoulders. "Are you okay?"
"Know what?" asked Sophocles. "This battle's totally on fire."
"And better than the Cinnabar island battle." said Jordan.
"Lucar." said Meeko.
"Look at Marowak." said Mallow.
"Mar!" said Marowak, then jumps off the side of the Volcano. "Marowak!"
"Turtonator," said Turtonator, looking up.
"Turtonator, quick, behind you!" Kiawe called out.
"Tur!" said Turtonator, then changed its spikes.
"All right. I think it's going to use Shell Trap." said Sophocles.
"Marowak!" shouted Marowak, using its bone to deflect itself.
"It avoided it." said Mallow.
"You're right." said Lana.
"Keep it up." said Kiawe.
"You got this!" Jordan called out from the sidelines.
"Turtonator!" bellowed Turtonator, turning around to face Marowak.
"Maro! Marowak!" said a wide eyed Marowak as it got trapped in Turtonator's Shell Trap. "Wak!"
After being thrown back, Marowak stands up. "Turtonator, here we go." said Kiawe.
"Nator!" said Turtonator, stomping its foot into the ground before white light surround its body. "Turto!"
"Use Shell Smash!" shouted Kiawe.
"Nator!" bellowed Turtonator as it powered up.
"That's Shell Smash." said Rotom. "It makes Turtonator vulnerable to damage, but in return, it increases power and speed."
"Isn't that a little desperate?" asked Mallow.
"Yeah." said Ash. "But they have to, to beat Marowak."
"Marowak!" exclaimed Marowak as Turtonator used its increased speed to get a little closer. "Wak! Marowak!"
"Turto!" shouted Turtonator, after getting hit by Marowak. "Turtonator."
"No, Turtonator!" screamed Mallow.
"Turtonator's strength seems to have vanished." added Rotom.
"Oh." gasped Lillie.
"Can you still battle?" Kiawe asked Turtonator.
"Turto!" replied Turtonator.
"Then use Dragon Tail!" shouted Kiawe.
"Turtonator!" bellowed Turtonator, swinging his glowing tail again as it jumps behind Marowak.
"Mar!" grunted Marowak as Turtonator's tail made contact with its face.
"Wak! Mer!" said Marowak, dragging its bone against the ground to get a stop.
"Now, Turtonator, let's do it." said Kiawe, now ready for his Z-Move. "With every fiber of my being. The zenith of my mind, body and spirit. Like the great mountain of Akala, become a raging fire and burn. Inferno Overdrive!"
"Turtonator!" roared Turtonator, creating an even bigger fire ball than ever and sends it towards Marowak, who then gets knocked back and fainted.
"Kiawe!" exclaimed Mallow.
"You won!" said Ash.
"Yay! Cario!" said Jordan and Meeko.
"Amazing, so cool!" said Sophocles as Lana and Lillie laughed.
"You were great, Turtonator." said Kiawe, praising Turtonator.
"Turto!" said Turtonator, nodding. Marowak finally takes off the crown and hands it over to Kiawe. "Maro…." said Marowak.
"I know." said Kiawe, taking the crown. "You wanted to wear this crown to become stronger, didn't you?"
"Marowak." answered Marowak.
"(Gasps) So that's why?" asked Mallow.
"It was during the battle that I knew." explained Kiawe. "It's Marowak's heart. It's filled with the same fire that burnt in mine."
"Really? The same?" asked Sophocles.
"We know what you're talking about, don't we Jordan?" Ash asked and Jordan nodded. "Your hearts connected while you were battling."
"Your hearts go ding." said Lana.
"And because of that connection, Marowak didn't protest when it gave back the crown." said Lillie.
"Marowak. Marowak!" said Marowak, pointing its bone at Kiawe and then at itself.
"Wait. Are you telling me you want…." Kiawe said to Marowak.
"Maro." Marowak said, nodding as Kiawe chuckles for a moment. He then takes out a Pokeball and throws it towards Marowak.
"All right." said Kiawe as his Pokeball makes contact with Marowak.
"Marowak." said Marowak, going into the Pokeball.
"You caught it." said Sophocles as a ding was heard.
"Come out." said Kiawe, summoning Marowak.
"Wak." said Marowak, then starts its happy dance with its bone. "Mar! Mar! Mar….Maro! Maro! Maro! Maro! Maro! Maro! Maro…."
"Nice to meet you again." said Kiawe, smiling.
"Turto?" asked Turtonator.
"Marowak!" exclaimed Marowak and headbutts Turtonator.
"Turto!" grunted Turtonator. "Turto!"
"Marowak!" said Marowak, running over and over again at Turtonator.
"Pika?" asked Pikachu.
"Uh, sounds like it doesn't want to lose next time." said Mallow.
"It sure doesn't like losing." said Ash.
"Yeah." said Jordan and Mallow.
"Lucario." said Meeko as Marowak eventually gets stuck in Turtonator's body.
"Marowak! Marowak! Marowak! Marowak! Marowak!" said Marowak, struggling to get out.
"What are you doing? Careful, okay?" asked Kiawe, separating Marowak and Turtonator from each other.
"Marowak!" shouted Marowak as it raised its bone in the air, unknowing that Jordan was behind it.
"Yoink!" said Jordan, taking the bone from Marowak.
"Maro?" it asked, then turned around to face Jordan. "Marowak!"
"You'll get it back when you apologize to the Kahuna." said Jordan, glaring at Marowak.
"Maro." grumbled Marowak, before turning to Turtonator.
"That's what I thought." said Jordan.
"Turto, Turtonator." Turtonator said to Marowak, who then crossed its arms for a second and starts running at Turtonator. Ash and the others laughed at the sight. "Look. The Wela Crown has been safely returned, which means, let's celebrate." said Olivia, showing the crown in her hand and the crowd cheers.
Placing the crown around Pikachu's body, Pikachu felt the crown's power. "Pi. Pikachu." said Pikachu.
"Here." said Olivia, crowning Litten, who meows in happiness.
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
"Lucario." said Meeko as she was crowned next.
"Now, Marowak, your next." said Olivia, looking right at Marowak.
"Maro!" it said, shocked as it looked up at Kiawe. "Maro?"
"Hm." he nodded.
"Marowak!" said Marowak, going up to Olivia. "Hm."
"Here." she said, placing the crown on Marowak. "May you receive the gift of Wela Volcano's power."
"Turtonator, from now on, we work harder, with Marowak." said Kiawe as Jordan handed back Marowak its bone.
"Turto…." said Turtonator, agreeing with Kiawe.
"Marowak! Marowak! Marowak!" sang Marowak, proud that it was crowned by Olivia.
"Let's take a picture to mark the occasion. All right, say cheese." said Rotom, taking a picture. In the picture, one of the hikers decided to photobomb.
"Huh?" said everyone. The next picture Rotom took was at the base of the stairs and the hikers were now in the back of the kids.
Narrator: Now that Kiawe has caught a feisty Marowak, a Pokémon with a spirit as fiery as Wela Volcano itself, its sure to pick up the already-heated pace, as our heroes' Akala island journey continues.
"See you!" said the hikers, waving in the distance.
Jordan: Weirdos….
