Chapter 6

The door to the Parker residence flew open and Miles rushed frantically in followed closely by Kaine, and then lastly, and most casually, by Ben.

"Well, well," Felicia Hardy drawled. She stood in the center of the Family Room wearing a crop top so loose and leggings so tight that Miles didn't even see Mayday attached to her hip. Ben and Kaine, however, did. Ben smirked when he noticed May wasn't wearing the little blue overalls and red T-Rex shirt they had dressed her in. "Look what my favorite little partner in crime dragged in!"

Felicia lifted May to show off the little black and white cat onesie she wore. Mayday's eyes lit up as she saw her three favorite uncles, and she reached out for them. Her little paws extended out and she cooed.

"Yeah, she has us wrapped around her little toe beans," Ben remarked as he poked Mayday's little paw pads.

"Well, she's mine for now," Felica said, swinging Mayday away from Ben and Kaine and sashaying away from them.

Miles swallowed as he watched her go away. He furrowed his brow, something got tight.

Faster than the speed of a web shooter, Miles vanished from sight. This is getting out of hand, Miles!

Kaine appeared in front of Felicia. His large shadow loomed over her. "Do you have any idea how hard it is to get blood out of a skin tight costume?" he growled.

"Isn't that why you wear red?" she retorted, smirking up at Kaine.

Kaine's eye twitched. "That's not the point."

"So get to it, then," Felicia said, unintimidated by Kaine. "I thought that was your thing in this whole Spider-Family?"

Kaine's wrist flexed. The tip of his stinger popped out. Oh how he wanted to shiskebab the lady in front of him.

"So, not that I'm complaining because it was really funny scaring those Maggia thugs, but you do know you have our numbers, right?" Ben asked, jumping between Kaine and Felicia.

Kaine loomed over Ben, looking as though he were completely fine with running his brother through in order to get Felicia. "You have any idea how bad this Hatchling's track record is with kidnappings?"

"You tell me. You are the expert on that front," Felicia retorted.

Ben's eyes widened. He dug his heels further into the wood floor as Kaine attempted to push past him. The planks wailed and splintered.

Felicia booped Mayday on the nose, reveling in the rage from Kaine while also hungrily checking out Ben as he held Spider-Hulk at bay. "My hero," she teased.

Ben couldn't help but crack a smile. He turned around while holding Kaine back, showing off his backside. Felicia laughed.

Suddenly, Mayday floated out of Felicia's grasp. The former thief and Spider-Bros froze and stared. Flight!? Mayday can FLY!?

"Reilly?" Kaine asked, not moving his eyes off his niece for a second.

"...yeah?"

"Can spiders…fly?"

Ben swallowed and crept around. His every muscle was poised to spring into action should Mayday fall. "Well, spiders have been known to be able to manipulate the Earth's electric field with their hairs–"

"I didn't ask for a damn science lesson!" Kaine growled as he too paced around Mayday. She began floating out of the kitchen and back into the family room. Uncontrollable giggles escaped her as she watched her Uncles and Aunt follow her.

"Yes you did!" Ben said, indignant.

"Sorry, hot stuff," Felicia said, she too hadn't taken her eyes off Mayday all the way to the family room. "That's a yes or no kind of question."

"Et tu, Kitty?" Ben said, clutching his chest as though he'd been stabbed.

Mayday dipped suddenly! All three lurched forward, ready to catch her.

"Reilly…" Kaine growled.

"Yes!" Ben snapped. "Spiders can fly. But they usually need a strand of web to do it!"

"I don't see any web!" Felicia exclaimed.

Mayday dropped, fast and suddenly. The trio all dashed at once to catch the Hatchling before she slammed into the ground—

But she didnt….

Kaine froze, but Felicia and Ben—in their desire to save Mayday—didn't. They crashed into each other and ended up in a tangle of limbs.

Kaine eyed Mayday. She hovered in front of him, giggling like a little gremlin. However, her body didn't float like all the fliers he'd seen before. Mayday didn't float in the air as if there were an invisible floor beneath her. Instead, she hung in the air like a puppet dangling from its strings.

Kaine clenched his teeth. Damn, how did he let that little shit get one over on him? "Kid, turn off the camo," Kaine grumbled.

"I think she deserves a good prick after making me think I lost May!" Miles materialized on the ceiling in front of them all. He held May protectively in his arms. His eyes flickered to Kaine's wrist.

Kaine glanced down at Felicia. He was really tempted to give her a good old fashion taste of the Numb Ass.

Ben must've seen the look in his eye because he flopped like a fish to cover Felicia.

"Scarlet, what are ya doin," she asked, a smirk played on her lips.

Ben furrowed his brow for a second, then his eyes widened as he realized where his head had landed. "Oh, ya know, just being a hero."

"Kaine?" Miles demanded, expectantly.

Felicia rolled over, trapping Ben's face between the carpet and herself, so she could look at Miles. He scowled at her, trying his hardest to look mean and threatening, but it just didn't take. Kaine knew the kid didn't have a single mean bone in his body.

And apparently, so did Felicia as two seconds later she erupted into laughter.

"Who are you!?" Miles exclaimed. He pointed a finger at Felicia and it sparked a brilliant blue and orange.

"Did the hair and onesie not give it away, Sparks?" Felicia asked when she finally caught her breath.

Miles' eyes flickered between Felicia and Mayday. Then, it clicked. "You're the Black Cat!?"

Felicia raised her arms and proudly framed her face. "In the fur!"

"Ugh, that was horrible!" Ben shouted, though his voice was muffled.

"My dad has a file on you!" Miles said, crawling away from Felicia and burrowing Mayday deeper into his arms. "He gave it to me when I started! He warned me about you and he was right!"

"Just like how he was right about Aaron?"

Miles froze. "How do you know my Uncle?"

Felicia's ass lifted slightly off the floor. "How do you know his uncle?" Ben asked, his voice strangely suspicious.

Felicia smirked, there was an air of nostalgia to it. "Supers aren't the only ones who have their friends help them babysit."

Miles gawked at Felicia. Kaine glanced at her, actually interested in her for the first time.

"By the way, he'd be disappointed you didn't use The Shoulder Touch on Bianca."

"Bianca?" Kaine said.

"Shoulder Touch!?" Ben exclaimed.

"You sent her!?" Miles shouted!

Mayday recoiled away and wailed. She smacked her tiny fists into Miles' chest and repelled him into the ceiling so hard it left an indent of him in the plaster! It also meant Miles lost his grip on May. She fell from his arms right into Kaine's waiting ones. Immediately, Mayday brightened being in her favorite uncle's arms.

"Bianca was the girl Sparks was flirting with before I nabbed my partner," Felicia said, looking to Kaine. She then looked down at her ass and flashed her eyes at Ben, "The Shoulder Touch is a technique for experts only,- finally, she looked up at Miles extricating himself from the ceiling "-Bianca works for me at Cat's Eye, she's my secretary. She did think you were cute, by the way."

"I'm cute?"

"For experts ONLY!?"

Kaine rolled his eyes and walked back into the kitchen. It was that time of the night again. When the 'not-officially-dating-but-totally-dating' couple would go through their usual routine. He had other plans for the night. And to do that, he needed to get his Hatchling out of the god awful onesie!

"I said what I said," Felicia said. Kaine could just picture her annoying ass coy smile.

"If a little shoulder touch is considered the Expert Technique, you really got gyped. I bet you've never seen the Master Technique in action!" Ben retorted. And there his little brother went off. He probably puffed himself out like a peacock and turned around to cross his arms and stand all smugly.

"Oh really?" Felicia drawled. Kaine leaned over May as he changed her shirt, imitating how he knew Felicia would lean in toward Ben. Low enough for him to be tempted to look down her shirt, but not low enough for him to get a full view. "And what, pray tell, is this Master Technique?"

Kaine cracked a lopsided grin he'd seen Ben crack a million times before. He waggled his eyebrows just as he knew Ben would. Mayday giggled again watching her be so silly. "Well, I can't tell you. It's a secret technique," Ben said. "If I tell you, I'd have to kill you. I'm sorry, I don't make the rules, its just thems the rules."

"Ah, and this…killing," Felicia said. Kaine managed to wrangle Mayday into the legs of the overalls. "It would be painful, wouldn't it?"

"Very," Ben answered.

All Kaine heard next was a pair of giggles that made him gag, followed by the unmistakable sounds of footsteps on the wall.

Kaine walked back into the family room to find Miles standing on the ceiling looking absolutely bamboozled and violated by the conversation that just occurred.

"What…what just happened?" Miles asked. He shivered as if he'd just felt rats crawl down his back.

"What you just saw is what happens when two people who like to be the biggest flirt in the room meet their match," he said

Miles watched in disbelief as Felicia's crop top floated down to the foot of the stairs. Then, the sound of a door snapping shut echoed in the house. "They wouldn't…"

"The would." Kaine didn't even blink. He just kept changing Mayday out of the cat onesie and back into her red T-Rex shirt and blue overalls.

Miles stayed as still as an upside down statue. Kaine could see the gears struggling to turn in the kid's head. "But…but there's no bed in the guest room…" Miles said, mostly to himself. "How are they gonna–you know–if there's no bed?"

"Kid, what are you doing right now?"

Miles looked down at the ceiling. Realization dawned on him.

Kaine finished fastening Mayday's overalls. He tossed her into the air and stood to catch her. "I'll put it this way; if you can do it normally, the horndogs that live here have as well."

Miles dropped from the ceiling to the floor. "I'm never sleeping here again. How the hell do you do it?"

"I don't." Kaine placed Mayday's Spider-Beanie on her head and then lifted her onto his shoulders. "I'm headed out to Conway's for some ice cream."

"There's a Conway's in Queens?"

"Nope," Kaine responded.

"Then why—"

Kaine opened the door and walked out leaving Miles still sat on the floor just as confused as ever.

Then he heard it. The muffled shout of both pain and pleasure.

OH HELL NAH!

Brilliant blue and orange bioelectricity charged around his hands and feet. Miles released it. He blasted out of the Parker Household as fast as he could, not even realizing he'd never used his venom like this before.
