Shoutouts:
"Let's go!" shouted the racer kid in the commercial Sophocles was showing Ash and Kiawe.
"In stores now! The type three kit!" said the announcer.
"This will put you way ahead of your rival!" said the kid.
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
"Whats that?" asked Ash as the commercial ended. "They're really cool."
"Aren't they?" Sophocles asked. "They're called Charjabug racers!"
"Charjabug Racers?" asked Ash.
"Never heard of them." said Kiawe.
"You're putting Charjabug in a race?" asked Jordan, amused at this as she sat with the girls.
"Yep. Charjabug Racers use electricity generated by Charjabug as their energy source." said Sophocles, typing away at his laptop. "Who would have thought energy from a Charjabug would allow a racer to go so fast?"
"Amazing." said Kiawe.
"And they put on a huge race every year!" said Sophocles, showing them the end of the race.
"Sounds like fun." said Ash.
"Sure does." said Kiawe.
"Really? Are you interested?" asked Sophocles. "I've wanted to enter a Charjabug race forever, but you can't unless you have a team of three. Please? Will you two enter the race with me?"
"I'd love to join your race team." said Ash.
"All right! You, too?" Sophocles asked Kiawe.
"I'll do it. One thing….." said Kiawe as Ash and Sophocles faced him. "If we're to be part of this venture, there is only one goal: Victory!"
"Victory?" asked Sophocles and Ash.
"Isn't that great, Charjabug?" Sophocles asked the battery Pokémon. "We've got ourselves a team."
"Charja!" said Charjabug, nodding as all three boys put their hands in.
"Victory all the way! Yeah!" all three boys shouted as fire surrounds them.
"It's so hot….Don't you think its hot today?" Mallow asked as she fans herself.
"I don't think it's the weather." said Lana as she and Jordan look over at the boys.
"I blame the boys for this one." said Jordan, glaring at them.
"Lucar." said Meeko, panting.
"Yeah!" shouted the boys.
"Vul…" said Snowy, worried that they would burn down the classroom.
"Oh, them…" said Mallow as Snowy runs over to the boys.
"Hey, Snowy." Lillie called after her.
"Oh, yeah!" said the boys.
"Vul!" screamed Snowy, using Powder Snow on them, freezing them in ice.
"Thank you, Snowy. You're the best." said Jordan, walking up behind her as the other girls sighed. "I swear, you guys could have burnt down the classroom. Maybe even the whole school if you kept that up."
Narrator: Now that Ash and Kiawe are entering the Charjabug race with Sophocles, they're diving head first into training! What will you do, Jordan?
Jordan: I'm going to be supportive in all of this. Besides, Kukui doesn't want me to walk home by myself.
Narrator: Good point for a smart man.
"Look at this!" said Sophocles, holding up the car Charjabug will be in. "I just picked up the Type Three kit!"
"So, let's see how fast that thing goes!" said Ash.
"Before that, there's something we need to decide." said Sophocles. "A team has three people, each with their own job. The first is the one giving orders: the director! The second is the one who performs maintenance on the racer and changes the tires: the mechanic! And the last one runs with the Charjabug to help it deal with obstacles: the support runner! All three jobs are really important!"
"All right, then, since you know the most about racing, you should be director." said Kiawe.
"Okay. Then I'd like you to be mechanic." said Sophocles.
"Really?" asked Kiawe.
"You're always doing odd jobs and fixing all sorts of things on your family farm, aren't you?" asked Sophocles.
"You're right. I guess…." said Kiawe.
"That makes me support runner. You can count on us." said Ash. "We'll be great."
"I know that there's no job for me and Meeko to on the team but…." said Jordan, feeling a little left out.
"The both of you can be the Team Cheerleader." said Sophocles.
"I'll take it." said Jordan.
"Lucario." said Meeko.
"Charja." said Charjabug.
"Pika. Maru." said Pikachu and Togedemaru as they leaned against each other on the ground and rocked.
"You two are so cute." said Jordan, sitting on the ground in front of them.
"I wish we brought a camera with us. This is for the Pika Scrapbook." said Meeko, wanting to take a picture of them. Sophocles sets down his Type Three kit car down and places Charjabug in it. "Okay, Charjabug. Let's give it a shot!" said Sophocles.
"Wow! Your Charjabug Racer looks just like the one in the commercial." said Ash.
"Start your engine." said Sophocles.
"Charja!" said Charjabug, using its Discharge to start its racer.
"Here it comes." said Ash. "Yeah!"
"Hey, Ash! Hold on!" Kiawe called out after him. Ash turns around to see that Charjabug was behind him. "Look." said Kiawe. "Something's not quite right."
"Uh….my Charjabug's a bit, well….unmotivated." said Sophocles. "But once it put its mind to it, it'll be able to race." Suddenly, Charjabug shoots out its String Shot at Sophocles.
"Aw, Charjabug, you know how difficult it is to get this stuff out." said Sophocles, trying to get String Shot off his face.
"We need to do some training." said Kiawe.
"Why don't we all run together?" asked Ash.
"Huh? What for?" asked Sophocles.
"That way, Charjabug can get used to the racer, and it'll be fun for us too!" explained Ash.
"Yeah then, we can all bond as a team." said Kiawe as Sophocles groans.
"But running and I aren't very good friends." complained Sophocles.
"Come on, you'll be great!" said Ash, taking Sophocles' arm. "Let's go team!"
"Pika?" Pikachu asked as they ran, then follows them.
"Cario." said Meeko.
"Da!" squealed Togedemaru, following Pikachu and Meeko.
"Come on, Charjabug." said Jordan, looking at the battery Pokémon. "I'll race you."
"Charja!" said Charjabug in resign as it follows Jordan and the boys.
"It's coming along with us." said Kiawe, looking over his shoulder. "Looking good."
"Pika, Pika." said Pikachu, pushing Charjabug in its racer. From the classroom, Principal Oak watches them train. "Ah…that's youth for you!" he said. "Confront the Dragonite and you'll become the Machamp!"
That night in his lab, Sophocles was making some adjustments to the racer. "This will be perfect for the motor." said Sophocles. "The frame has to be light and durable at the same time." Behind him, Charjabug was sitting at his desk, watching him when it turns to face the computer screen. "Huh? Want to race fast? Really fast?" Sophocles asked Charjabug.
"Charja." nodded Charjabug.
"Then let's win this." said Sophocles.
"Charj. Charj." said Charjabug.
"That was your best time yet." said Rotom as he and the boys were training.
"Perfect." said Kiawe as he wore a contraption on his body when he changed the tires.
"Ma! Pika!" cheered Togedemaru and Pikachu.
"Keep going!" said Rotom as Ash ran alongside Charjabug until they stopped. "All right! That was yet another best time!"
"Here! Fresh Moomoo milk!" said Kiawe, handing Sophocles a glass from his farm.
"Thank you." said Sophocles as Kiawe hands one to Ash.
"Drink up. Nice and cold." said Kiawe.
"Thanks a lot, Kiawe." said Ash.
"Wouldn't it be nice if we had some on the day of the race? Right, Charjabug?" Sophocles asked.
"Hey guys, how's the training going?" asked Jordan when she, Skylar and Lyra ran up to them.
"Great…..just great." panted Ash as he leans against the fence and downed the milk he had in his hand. "All set! Time to race again!"
"Charja!" said Charjabug.
"They're at it again…." said Lana as she, Mallow and Lillie see Jordan and the boys laughing.
"Is that about the Charjabug race?" asked Lillie.
"Yes! Let's go even faster!" shouted Ash.
"I've written something for Charjabug, you guys. Wanna hear it?" Jordan asked.
"Yeah." said the boys.
"Charj, Charj, Charjabug." Jordan started singing, rocking from side to side, causing Charjabug to look up in confusion. "Charj, Charj, Charjabug."
"Charja?" said Charjabug, started to feel even more confident in itself and jumps into her arms from its racer. "Charjabug!"
"Who knew that Jordan could come up with something that good." said Kiawe, smiling as he crosses his arms.
"I know I do. Keep going, Jordan." said Ash and she nodded, smiling as she continued.
"Charj, Charj, Charjabug. Charj, Charj, Charjabug."
"I like it." said Sophocles as Jordan hugs Charjabug close to her.
"Let's call it the Charjabug cheer." suggested Ash.
"Yeah!" said Sophocles.
"That's because it is." said Jordan as she places Charjabug back in its racer. "I wanted to do something fun for a change."
"Thanks, Jordan. You're the best." said Sophocles.
"You're welcome." she tells him as Ash takes off with Charjabug.
"The boys sure are fired up." said Mallow.
"We also can't forget about Jordan. She's always upbeat." said Lana.
"That's true." Lillie said in agreement.
"Let's get something cold to drink." Mallow suggested to Lillie and Lana.
"Great idea!" said Lana. "With some pancakes on the side!"
"Sounds great!" said Lillie, giggling. "How about Mallow's restaurant?"
"Great idea." said Mallow as the three of them walked away.
"This place is huge!" said Ash as he and the others stood outside a building before heading inside.
"Wow….look at 'em all." said Sophocles.
"You mean everyone here is entering?!" asked Ash.
"That's a whole lot of competitors." said Jordan.
"Looking forward to this year." said a girl and her team.
"And we're raring to go!" said a young boy and his team.
"We do it all for science." said a boy in his lab coat with his science team.
"I'd say most of them are regulars." said Kiawe.
"After all the intense training we did, there's no doubt we'll win this!" said Sophocles.
"Not a chance." said a familiar voice behind Sophocles, causing them to turn around.
"Whats this about?" asked Ash.
"Yeah." said Jordan.
"Everybody who's anybody knows our Red Comet team is going to win this race, hands down." bragged Horacio.
"If a run of the mil Charjabug like yours should ever win, my jaw would hit the floor and never come back up!" said Yansu.
"What did you say?" Ash asked angrily.
"Well, well, well, aren't we a bit smug today?" Jordan asked sarcastically.
"I heard that, little girl." he said rudely.
"You were supposed to." said Jordan, glaring at Horacio. "I didn't exactly whispered it to anyone."
"Feast your eyes on this! The boss's…..amazing Charjabug!" said Yansu, revealing the Charjabug he was holding under a cloth.
"Charja." said the red Charjabug.
"Wow….That is pretty cool…." said Ash.
"It's Horacio's red Charjabug." said the Princess Team Leader.
"I guess that means you think you're gonna win." said the Team Science Leader.
"You don't know the great pains my father took in order to track down this cool Charjabug. Its color? Unique." Horacio said to the crowd. "Top speed is as fast as you can get. Strength second to none!"
"With a custom-made racer that can't be beat!" said Yansu.
"Nothing can come close to it!" added Dana.
"I will admit….." said Jordan, taking a closer look at the red Charjabug. "that red Charjabug is cute in its red racer. But it's nowhere cuter than our Charjabug."
"Cario?" Meeko asked, looking at the red Charjabug. "Cari, Lucario."
"Charja?" asked both Pokémon.
"What did you say, kid?" said Horacio, getting close in her face.
"Hey, back away from my sister." said Ash.
"She was just making an observation, right Jordan?" asked Kiawe.
"That's right. I'm just saying that our Charjabug is more cuter than yours is all." said Jordan, innocently.
"Oh…." he said, before turning to the boys. "You squirts could all gang up on me and nothing would happen. Why not leave before you embarrass yourselves?"
"Good idea." said Yansu and Dana, laughing.
"I've got an idea." said Sophocles. "You should leave before you lose!"
"What was that?" Horacio asked Sophocles.
"I don't care how special your Charjabug is! That won't have any effect on my Charjabug's chances to win!" said Sophocles.
"Charja!" Charjabug said in agreement.
"You know how to talk like a winner. But you'll see whose Charjabug is the fastest during the race." said Horacio.
"Charja." said Red Charjabug angrily as it and Horacio left with their team.
"Pika!" Pikachu shouted angrily after them while Meeko glared after them.
"Unpleasantness index: 100%." said Rotom.
"Nice comeback, Sophocles." said Ash.
"You really told him." said Kiawe.
"No one like that's gonna beat me." said Sophocles.
"Or Charjabug." said Jordan.
"Fiddlesticks." said Jessie as she, James and Meowth were around the corner. "It looks like the trio of twerps and the baby Twerpette have entered the race too!"
"Quite problematic." said James.
"Wobbuffet." said Wobbuffet.
"What do we care? Our getups are beyond perfection, so we can concentrate on the race." said Jessie, crossing her arms.
"And the extremely high-value winner's prize!" said James.
"Team Rocket doesn't know failure. Right, Charjabug?" Jessie asked Meowth, who was inside a Charjabug costume.
"Oy…." said Meowth.
"You're supposed to say 'Charja'." said Jessie, getting down to Meowth's level.
"STOP! I can't!" shouted Meowth. "It's like an oven in here…."
"So? You'll be fine….." said Jessie, pushing him back in.
"The inside is amazing, too!" said Ash as they entered the arena.
"Okay, time for the four of us to split up." said Sophocles as he takes out earwigs from his pocket. "We can keep in touch with these."
"Pika?" asked Pikachu as Ash puts his earwig in.
"Hi there!" said Anna, flying above them as she gains everyone's attention. "Welcome to the greatest race for Charjabug fans all over the region! Hold on to your seats, as we present the twenty fifth annual Koko Cup!"
"Does the cup look exactly like Tapu Koko or is it just named after the island guardian?" Jordan asked Ash.
"Beats me." he tells her.
"I think it's actually named after Tapu Koko." said Kiawe as the crowd cheers around them.
"The rules are the same every year, and they couldn't be simpler!" Anna continued. "Each Charjabug and its support runner will try to get to the finish line first. While out on the course, there are three obstacles awaiting them! These are Pokémon trying to keep the Charjabug from advancing! How they deal with it decides who wins or loses! So let's meet this year's Pokémon! And here they are!"
"Sandygast!"
"Boldore!"
"Castform!"
"And now…..introducing this year's three amazing terrains!" said Anna as all three terrains appeared on the track.
"Wow!" said Kiawe, Sophocles, Jordan, Ash and Rotom.
"That's awesome!" said Ash.
"You got that right!" said Jordan.
"Pretty much as I predicted." said Sophocles.
"There is a pit stop area set up just prior to each terrain where mechanics can change tires and recharge their Charjabug's electricity." explained Anna. "One more thing. Anyone using Pokémon moves to impede others will be disqualified. Now contestants, to your starting positions."
"I'll be in the central command tower." said Sophocles as he hands Charjabug to Ash.
"I'll be at the pit stop with Jordan!" said Kiawe, taking off with Jordan not far behind him.
"Okay! Jordan, make sure you and Meeko listen to Kiawe." Ash called out after his sister.
"We will." said Jordan.
"Cario." said Meeko, saluting Ash.
"You're gonna do great." said Sophocles.
"Charja!" said Charjabug.
"Twenty seconds to go….." said Anna as Ash stood at the starting line with Charjabug.
"Right." said the science support runner.
"Give it your best, Charjabug!" said Ash, setting Charjabug down.
"Go Ash! You can do it!" said Rotom.
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
"Cario, Cario!" said Meeko.
"Thanks." said Ash as he then looks forward, ready for the final countdown. When the racing lights had turned off, the race begins. "And there they go!" shouted Anna.
"Move out, Charjabug!" said Ash, running alongside Chargabug.
"Now put it in high gear." said James, running alongside Meowth.
"Charja." said Meowth, sweating from the inside.
"As expected, it's the Red Comet team taking the early lead." said Anna, seeing Yansu in the lead. "But the Bewear Max team has made an impressive start!"
"Looks good! Just keep it up!" said Sophocles from the command tower.
"Ha! You're not even worth the look." said Horacio, making Sophocles turn around.
"And now we're approaching corner number one!" said Anna as the racers came around the corner.
"Charja!" said an orange Charjabug, slamming into another Charjabug, creating a wall pileup.
"Oh, no!" shouted Anna. "A big pileup! And so close to the starting line!"
"No, Charjabug!" shouted Sophocles, fearing that it was Ash and his Charjabug.
"Ash, no!" shouted Kiawe, Jordan and Sophocles.
"It appears some teams weren't involved in the crash, like Red Comet and Bewear Max!" said Anna as the Red Charjabug and Meowth came out of the dust.
"Hey! Ignore that catastrophe!" said Jessie through her mic.
"Right…." said James.
"And they're followed by Electric Princess, Twin Starmie, and Science Speed!" announced Anna, then looks over at the crash site. "But that crash took most of the teams out of the running! What a stunning turn of events! But wait! There's one more team in the running! The Sophocles Lab team managed to avoid the chaos, too!"
"Go, Charjabug!" cheered Sophocles.
"You weren't in the crash because you're too slow." said Horacio.
"We're just getting warmed up!" said Sophocles.
"The leaders have already entered the rock country terrain." said Anna.
"So this terrain obstacle makes an appearance!" said Yansu as he looks up to see Boldore on a cliff.
"Boldore!" shouted Boldore, glowing blue as it attacks.
"Hold on! But how?" asked Yansu as rocks were lifted up from the ground.
"Oh, my!" said James, running up behind Yansu.
"Charjabug!" shouted a yellow Charjabug support runner as his Charjabug was lifted into the air by a rock. The yellow Charjabug panics as it was raised. "Oh no!" said its support runner as the Ludicolo support runner was also raised into the air as well with his panicking Charjabug racer.
"This is no time to be standing here gawking!" said Yansu, looking over his shoulder. "Come on!"
"Charjabug!" said Red Charjabug, following its support runner.
"Those wheels are going to be just fine!" said Yansu, running ahead. "Custom tires are making sure of that!"
"And the Red Comet team is beginning to leave the others behind." said Anna.
"Not acceptable!" said James, trying to catch up to Yansu.
"Well, custom made THIS! BAM!" shouted Meowth as he presses a green button from inside, causing him to jump and hop from rock pillar to rock pillar.
"We've assumed the lead." said James as Meowth jumps over Boldore.
"Boldore!" said a very annoyed Boldore and raises more rock pillars to block the other Charjabug racers, causing one to hit the stone wall.
"Hey! Big trouble, Sophocles." said Ash, looking at the stone wall in front of him.
"What did he say?" he asked.
"Throwing in the towel already?" Horacio asked, smugly.
"You're not even close." retorted Sophocles. "Hey, Ash! Act as a ramp for Charjabug, quick!"
"As a ramp?" questioned Ash.
"Hm." said Horacio.
"Right! Let Charjabug run up your legs and back. That'll allow it to get over the wall!" suggested Sophocles.
"I can do that." said Ash, following Sophocles' suggestion as he leans against the rock wall, acting as a ramp. "All set! Climb up!"
"Charja!" said Charjabug, then climbs up Ash. "Charj, Charj, Charja!" Charjabug finally makes it over the top.
"All right! We did it!" said Ash, climbing over the wall.
"We're going to do it, too!" said the Princess support runner.
"Charja!" said both Science and Princess Charjabugs as they also followed Ash's lead.
"Charja!" said the Twin Charjabug but crashed on impacted when it made it to the top.
"Ah! We didn't build the body strong enough…." said the Twin support runner.
"Nothing but dumb luck." said Horacio.
"'Fraid not." said Sophocles. "I planned for this stuff." Sophocles turns and glares at Horacio.
"Hey! Give me an update!" said Horacio, breaking eye contact with Sophocles.
"We're already at the pitstop!" said Yansu, arriving with Red Charjabug. Dana picks up Red Charjabug and places it on the table. "Next up is the desert terrain, right?" asked Dana, changing the tires on the racer. "With these custom tires, changing them is as easy as pie."
"Hurry it up!" said an impatient Horacio.
"One button and the tires are all changed." said Meowth, pressing the button next to him, lifting his disguise up from the ground to change tires. Just then, James feels someone pulling at his sleeve and turns to face Jordan.
"I'm not even going to ask why." Jordan tells him.
"Really?" he asked.
"Yeah. All I can say is good luck to you and Meowth." said Jordan, then has James come down to her level. "Oh…tell Meowth that if he needs to rant about certain things, Meeko and I are more than welcome to listen."
"Sure thing." whispered James and Jordan heads back to Kiawe, who gave her a weird look. He then turns back to Meowth as he was placed back on the ground with new tires. "Talk about quick…" said James.
"But that Red Comet team is a real pain in the racing neck!" said Meowth.
"Then make sure that their racing days are over." said Jessie.
"Yeah!" said Meowth and takes off.
"All yours, Kiawe." said Ash as he enters the pit stop.
"You'll never make it in time." taunted Dana.
"How are you feeling, Charjabug?" Jordan asked as Kiawe lifts Charjabug up.
"Charja!" Charjabug tells her, giving Jordan a smile.
"Jordan, Meeko, time me." said Kiawe.
"Aye, aye, Kiawe." said Jordan, holding a stop watch as Meeko salutes.
"Huh?" said Dana. "Where did she get that?"
Jordan starts her stopwatch just as Kiawe growled, changing Charjabug's tires. "The tires are exactly the same size as the caps on Moomoo Milk bottles!" thought Kiawe. "It's like my hands know what to do by themselves!"
"That guy is fast!" said Dana.
"Charja!" said a proud Charjabug.
"Quickest time yet." said Jordan, showing Kiawe the stopwatch, causing him to feel proud of himself.
"Lucar, Lucar!" exclaimed Meeko, patting Kiawe on the back, proud of the fire type trainer.
"Next the desert terrain." said Kiawe, handing Ash a glass of Moomoo Milk.
"We're on our way! Here you go, Charjabug!" said Ash, giving Charjabug the milk.
"Charja." said Charjabug, then starts drinking.
"This too." said Kiawe, putting googles on Charjabug.
"Googles?" asked Ash.
"Orders from Sophocles. Here you go." said Kiawe, handing a second pair to Ash. "See you at the next pitstop."
"Awesome! Let's win this!" said Ash.
"Go Ash and Charjabug!" cheered Jordan.
"Now the back teams are leaving the pits." Anna said to the crowd. "But the teams in the lead are already in the desert terrain!"
"This is just what we got those custom sand tires for." Yansu said to Red Charjabug as it closed its eyes from the swirling sand.
"Charja!" said Red Charjabug, struggling against the sand. Not far behind them was James and Meowth.
"Time to put our plan to work!" said Meowth, aiming for Red Comet. "This nerve-numbing dart will drop you down a notch!"
Just then, Meowth takes his shot at Red Charjabug with the dart. "Charja!" said Red Charjabug, feeling the dart hit its backside. Shocked and scared, Red Charjabug speeds ahead in front of Yansu. "Something's not right, but this is the perfect chance to get Charjabug to show off its runaway skills!" said Yansu.
"That is amazing!" said Anna, watching the scene unfold. "You wouldn't think the red Charjabug could accelerate in this Sandstorm!"
"You caused it to go faster!" James said angrily at Meowth.
"So much for plans." said Meowth, pressing a red button in front of him.
"Eject. Eject. Eject." said the computer and Meowth realized what he had done. As smoke fills the space, Meowth was thrown up and into the Sandstorm.
"Wait! That looks like the Bewear Max!" said Anna, then sees that it was nothing more than just Meowth inside. "Whats this? A Pokémon emerged from the Charjabug!"
"How long do you think we should expect Bewear?" Kiawe asked, giving Jordan a knowing look.
"I'd say about….." she said, looking at her Lucario watch. "any minute now, depending on if its leave the Team Rocket cave right now."
"Nice." said Kiawe.
"That's what I love about keeping track of Team Rocket." said Jordan. "You never know what will happen with them."
"You know what that means: disqualified!" screamed Anna.
"That's not the finish line!" shouted Jessie.
"It's time for our serious mode!" said the Science support runner when suddenly as soon as the science Charjabug jumped, it landed in a sand dune. "NO! Its stuck!"
"If a racer tries to maintain the same speed, it can get stuck in the sand." said Sophocles. "You use up a lot of energy in the desert. Is Charjabug still okay?
"The Moomoo milk it had is working great." replied Ash. "And with these googles, it doesn't matter in the winds in our eyes."
"Charja!" said Charjabug, letting Sophocles know that it was okay.
"This is when slow and steady wins the race!" Sophocles said to Horacio. "Time to rally!"
Horacio growled at Sophocles before turning his head away. "Have you already gotten to the last pitstop yet?" he asked Yansu.
"Uh…forgive me, boss!" said Yansu, standing next to an exhausted Red Charjabug. "Charjabug wore itself out in the desert!"
"If we lose, you know what's coming to you!" yelled Horacio.
"Yes, sir!" said Yansu as he and Red Charjabug ran out of the desert.
"It looks like the winner will be one of these three teams." said Anna as the crowd roar with excitement.
"This looks bad." said Dana, looking at the tired Red Charjabug. "And we still have the last terrain to get through!"
"Since when do we not get the chance to take a break?" Yansu asked Dana.
"Forget breaks and run out that last section at full speed!" Horacio screamed into his mic.
"Yes sir!" said Yansu.
"Make it quick!" said the Princess support runner as she ran into the pitstop.
"Okay." said the Princess mechanic.
"This isn't good…." said Dana.
"Go! And you'd better win this thing!" said Horacio.
"Yes, sir!" said Yansu. Kiawe and Jordan were waiting for Ash and Charjabug. "You're up, Kiawe." said Ash.
"It's time for the final leg." said Kiawe. "Give it all you got."
"Right!" said Ash as he takes out Charjabug, handing it to Jordan who had a special brush in her hand. "Charjabug's doing great. If we keep this up, we'll win."
"Charjabug!" said Charjabug.
"Time to get that sand off of you, Charjabug." said Jordan, brushing the sand off while Kiawe deals with the racer.
"Charjabug!" giggled Charjabug, squirming as she gets all the sand out.
"Lucario?" Meeko asked Charjabug.
"Will you please leave?" asked the usher.
"Spoilsport." said Jessie. "How can you throw us out over something silly like cheating?"
"Talk about a grudge." said James. Pretending not to talk, Meowth was annoyed at the usher as well as Mareanie. "Sorry." said the usher. Just before he could go back inside, he looks past Team Rocket to see Bewear on wheels. Bewear picks up Team Rocket and sped off. "We're off with a new blast!" said Team Rocket.
Overhead on the new terrain, Castform was using Rain Dance. "We'll blow this field away and do it for the boss." said Yansu.
"Charja!" said a confident Red Charjabug.
"And the Red Comet Team is on top! Do they have an insurmountable lead by now?" asked Anna as she followed Yansu. "But look, the Electric Princess team is coming from behind!"
"Full throttle, Charjabug, then we'll take the lead!" said the Princess support runner.
"Charja!" said the Princess Charjabug.
"We'll pass 'em in one shot!" said Ash.
"Charja!" said Charjabug.
"Castform!" exclaimed Castform as it changed its form to snowing.
"What's this?" Anna asked the crowd. "Castform has created Hail, and now the terrain has turned into a skating rink. This is going to be most challenging for the racers."
"And you can't change tires away from the pitstop." said Kiawe.
"It's solid ice." said Sophocles.
"Who cares?" Horacio asked through his mic. "Just drive as fast as you can!"
"Charja!" said Red Charjabug, going as fast as it can on the ice, causing Princess Charjabug to spin out of control.
"Look out!" Ash called out to Charjabug, jumping in to save it and gets hit in the head by Princess Charjabug.
"Charja?" asked Charjabug.
"Ash, no!" shouted Kiawe as he and Jordan head over to him.
"Can you believe it?" Anna asked the crowd. "The Electric Princess team could be out of the race! And the Sophocles Lab team's support runner is down for the count."
"You're kidding?" asked Sophocles and leaves the central command center.
"Hm." Horacio said with a smile. "And that means our team is the definite winner."
"I wouldn't be too sure of that." said Yansu.
"What?" asked Horacio.
"With the finish line almost in view, the Red Comet team racer is stuck on the ice and can't make any headway." said Anna.
"Quick! Push it from behind, now!" shouted Horacio.
"But you know we'll be disqualified…besides, Charjabug is exhausted and almost out of juice." explained Yansu.
"Unacceptable!" Horacio shouted as he takes out his earpiece. "I'll deal with this myself!"
"Wake up! Are you all right?! Ash!" said Kiawe, shaking the boy.
"Lucario!" shouted Meeko, poking the oldest Ketchum in the arm.
"Ash? Ashy?" said Jordan, trying to her brother to open his eyes before looking up at Kiawe. "You don't think that's going to leave a weird mark on his face, right?"
"Yeah but it'll fade away in about an hour." Kiawe tells her.
"Good, because if it left a scar on his face, I would have to tell mom about it." said Jordan.
"We're really sorry." said the Princess support runner. "Is it going to be okay?"
"He'll be fine. It's part of racing." said Kiawe.
"He'll live for the most part." said Jordan.
"Kiawe! Jordan!" Sophocles yelled out as he slide towards them on his stomach. "I'll take it from here! The both of you should get Ash some medical help."
"But Sophocles, what can you possibly do on this sheet of ice?" asked Kiawe as Ash rubs his eyes. Sophocles looks back at Charjabug and knew what he would do.
"Of course!" said Sophocles.
"Do you know how much money I spent on this race?" Horacio angrily asked Yansu. "You just better hope that you don't lose!"
"Coming through!" said Sophocles and Charjabug, passing Horacio and Yansu.
"What?!" shouted Horacio.
"Hey, that's cheating!" said Yansu. "It's against the rules to change tires out of the pit."
"I didn't cheat at all." Sophocles said to Yansu.
"Then how are you moving?" asked Horacio, then, seeing that both Sophocles and Charjabug had string shot on their wheels and shoes. Both Yansu and Horacio screamed at this.
"This stuff comes from Charjabug's String Shot." Sophocles explained. "I realized that I can use it to get traction on the ice!"
"Then we have to do that, too!" said Horacio.
"Yes, sir!" said Yansu.
"Charjabug, you're almost there!" said Ash as Kiawe and Jordan helped him up.
"Go Charjabug!" shouted Jordan.
"Let's go, Charjabug!" said Sophocles.
"Charja!" said Charjabug as it uses Discharge to power its runner.
"Full speed!" shouted Kiawe and Ash.
"Max power!" shouted Sophocles.
"Now charge, Charjabug!" all three boys shouted.
"CHARJABUG!" shouted Charjabug as it crosses the finish line.
"And we have a winner!" shouted Anna as the checkered flag was waved.
"Yeah!" said Sophocles, proud of Charjabug.
"We won!" said Kiawe.
"Awesome!" said Ash.
"Next time we do a race like this, I'm sitting with our Pokémon." said Jordan. "Either that or leave me with Professor Kukui. Whichever you guys decide first."
"After all these years, I can't recall more turbulence!" said Anna.
"Pika!" cheered Pikachu.
"Lucario!" cheered Meeko.
"Yeah you won it!" said Rotom.
"Togede!" cheered Togedemaru.
"The Sophocles Lab team never gave up, and in the end, that led to victory!" said Anna.
"Why me? How could I lose?" asked a distraught Horacio.
"Boss, I'm so sorry…." said Yansu, hugging Horacio's legs.
"Now, let's interview the champions!" said Anna as she starts her interview. "Whats the most important thing that led to victory?"
"If I had to say one thing….." said Sophocles but Kiawe cut in.
"It's Moomoo Milk." said Kiawe.
"Yup! He's right!" Ash said in agreement.
"She was asking Sophocles, not the two of you!" said Jordan and suddenly the boys start laughing. "Silly boys."
"And to the victors? A complete selection of Charjabug souvenirs." Anna said.
"Exactly what I wanted." said Sophocles. "Isn't it great?"
"Charja!" said Charjabug and hugs Sophocles.
Narrator: The will to never give up has led our heroes to victory! It also helped Sophocles and Charjabug forge a closer friendship as the journey continues.
Jordan: Next time, I think I'll stay with Professor Kukui. This is enough excitement to last me enough for a month, or better yet, maybe a lifetime.
