Hey. It's ya gurl, CreativityTheEmotion. We need to talk.
Normally, I don't do author's notes for Madeline Lovesick stories. Not silly ones in line with the fanfic text, not full-chapter ones to announce a break, not ones in-character as the supposed author, not ones out-of-character as myself. However, this is just too major of an issue to try and ignore and sit through.
YandereDev, the developer of Yandere Simulator, has admitted to major crimes in the very recent past, and has been accused of even more, such as trying to silence the victim of said major crimes. As a consequence, major VAs volunteering for YandereDev, such as Michaela Laws (Ayano and Ryoba), Austin Hively (Taro and Jokichi), Patrick Seymour (Budo), Ryan Hoyle (Tsuruzo) and Haley Parsley (Shiromi), have left the project, and even fans creating fanwork, such as fangames, sought to distance themselves from YandereDev as far as possible.
For further detail, the subreddit r/Osana has all the necessary information. (CW: pedophilia, grooming, OnlyFans, breast sizes, dick sizes, miscellaneous sexual talk with a minor, obstruction of justice, false copyright claims, doxxing, YandereDev simps)
Unfortunately, Yandere Simulator is a major part of the Madelineverse crossover. As just one example, the main character of Lovesick Girl and the author of the in-universe diary, Madeline Lovesick, is an obvious parody of Ayano Aishi and the Aishi family condition.
As I see it, I have three options going forward:
1) continue the Madelineverse as though nothing happened
2) continue the Madelineverse, but "delete" all of Yandere Simulator legacy from it
3) quit the Madelineverse
I have already "deleted" a fandom from a crossover before. Doki Doki Literature Club!: Bugs, Glitches and Exploits for Dummies originally centered around ~ATH, a fictional programming language from Homestuck. However, as Homestuck fans proved to be cringe beyond repair and misconstrued everything I said in the context of the fic, somehow believing that ~ATH in DDLC is real, in 2021, I changed that to "The Bytecode", an invention of my own. However, the work retconning Bugs, Glitches and Exploits was nothing compared to what I'd have to do to "delete" Yandere Simulator from the Madelineverse. In the very least, I envision all of the currently available fanfics going down and being rewritten from the ground up, as they all feature Madeline as a character of middling-to-major importance.
The Madelineverse is, first and foremost, my personal writing project and even my escape, and I intend to create for it (be it writing, art, music, conlangs, whatever) for as long as I live. However, I can't do that if my conscience regarding a major part of its setting and character body inspiration is not clear.
Your input is appreciated. Please make it as detailed as possible; I can reserve some time to read and reply.
