The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 76
As Derek carried her across the yard his heart was racing, the day was here, the day they'd been waiting on for almost 9 months was finally here and today he would meet either a son or daughter. When they got inside the house Fran said, "take her to one of the empty bedrooms down the hall", Derek nodded his head yes as they headed down the hall and disappeared into a bedroom.
Derek laid her down on the bed he stayed right beside her holding her hand, she was scared, he was scared, what if something was wrong with the baby, they still had almost 2 weeks left before due date. Fran looked at Reid and said, "I'm going to need your help" to which the younger man nodded his head in agreement and then ran from the room in search of the emergency kit that Fran had put together for just such an emergency.
Meanwhile out in the living room Mia looked at the brides and said, "you two look so beautiful, I'm so happy for you", the sisters smiled and said, "thank you" in unison" as they glanced down the hallway that their mother, brother, sister in law and Reid had gone down just a few minutes earlier.
Shane looked at Tasha and said, "she's gonna be fine, right?", Tasha intertwined fingers with her boyfriend and said, "both Penelope and the baby are going to be fine, you'll see", Shane kissed her gently and said, "I love you". She winked at him and said, "I love you too", they both then looked down at the shiny engagement ring that laid proudly on her left ring finger.
He had proposed the night before and she had happily accepted and when they told the others the next morning they couldn't have been happier for the couple, it was obvious that they were destined to be together just like Derek and Penelope. JJ looked at Emily and said, "I've gotta know", Emily said, "me too" as the two agents quickly made their way down the hall to the bedroom to check on Penelope and their niece or nephew.
Dave walked into the room and said, "the paramedics are on the way", Sarah looked at him and said, "it looks like momma and Reid are going to be the ones delivering the baby", Desi said, "they can do it, momma is one of the best nurses I've ever seen". Dave said, "I wonder how things are going?", everybody looked down the hall and nodded their heads yes in agreement as they were all wondering the same thing.
Fran raised the sheet that was now covering her daughter in law, she then quickly checked to see how far along in the labor process she was and it came to no surprise to her that she was fully dilated and ready to deliver. She looked up at Penelope and said, "okay honey, on the next contraction I'm gonna need for you to push", Penelope nodded her head and said, "okay Fran" and it was only a few seconds before everybody in the living room heard Fran say, "okay Penelope, pushhhhhh".
