Disclaimer: I do NOT own The Chosen. Dallas Jenkins does and I am NOT making any money off of this. I only own my Original Characters. And none of the events with them happened in the Bible. Thank you and God Bless you.

I also do not own any of the characters from the movie Paul: The Apostle. They all belong to they're respective owners as well.

AN: I really do hope they put Paul in one of the remaining seasons. That would be awesome! Plus I have some characters from a movie I am watching about Paul in here as well. Because I am now officially addicted to it. Lord help me!

"I'm telling you! We should be more careful" Rebekah said now as she and her two other best friends wandered the streets of Jerusalem. "Especially with Maya!"

Maya rolled her eyes a little now. It was almost fifty days after her father's passing but she couldn't help but be exasperated by her friends, who were now acting like how James and John did with her dad when he was still alive. Her eyes filled with tears just thinking about it.

She was grateful to her friends though. If it hadn't been for them and for her grandmother's urging, she would still be laying in bed, staring at the wall. She knew her father was alive. That he wasn't dead. But the fact that she couldn't see him anymore made her upset. She knew he didn't want her to be sad, but she couldn't help it.

She did have to be careful though. There were people who wanted to hurt her father's followers. Her especially. They saw her as a threat because she was Jesus' daughter and many wanted her dead as well.

"Maya are you even listening to us?" Miriam asked now as she looked over at her friend concerned.

She shook her head now, pushing some of her hair out of her face. "I'm sorry Miriam, what were you saying?"

The other girl sighed exasperated as they all continued to walk along, blending into the crowd as best they could. There had not just been tension between the apostles as of late, but between the three girls as well. Maya almost wished Hanna had been there to break it all up. But she was pregnant with her first child and in Capernaum. Quintus and Gaius had been extremely overprotective of her. But Maya was at least happy that her best friend was happy. Someone needed to be.

"You know we could have all just stayed back at the house had I known we were all going to start fighting" Rebekah said, always the peace keeper.

"Yeah well that's what I would have preferred..." Maya's voice trailed off as she ran into a girl about they're age unexpectedly.

"Oh sorry!" she exclaimed now as she looked at the girl more closely now. With blonde hair and blue eyes, the girl reminded her of Hanna. In fact it was almost was like the two were twins. It was hard to tell them apart.

"No you are fine. I can't really focus on where I am going sometimes" she said now, smiling at Maya. "I'm Dinah by the way."

"I'm Maya."

Maya could almost feel her two best friend's disapproval from behind her. "And these two uptight friends of mine are Miriam and Rebekah."

She didn't trust many people, but Maya somehow knew she could trust Dinah. She seemed like a very loyal friend to have.

"It's nice to meet you three!" Dinah said with a bright smile.

The four girls continued to talk as they walked along the streets for a while. Miriam and Rebekah warmed up to her after a couple minutes thankfully. It was like they had been best friends for years and hadn't even been separated. Finally Dinah asked the question that they all had been trying to avoid.

"So where are you all from? What brings you to Jerusalem?"

Maya froze now, as did Miriam and Rebekah. The three girls looked at eachother now, trying to figure out how to answer what would normally be a simple question. But just as Maya was opening her mouth to speak, someone behind them spoke up.

"Dinah, Rueben needs you to go home and cook dinner..."

Dinah, Maya and her friends turned around to face a handsome man now, who was in the typical uniform of the Temple Guard. Maya's eyes connected with his now and she was in shock at how handsome he was. She and Matthew had broken up right after she had found out her father was going to die. She couldn't handle being in a relationship and spending all the time she had with her dad because of his upcoming death. It shocked her now that she even was interested in a man only fifty days after her father had passed.

Miriam and Rebekah looked at her concerned, while Dinah smiled at the two people who were staring at eachother.

"I know who you are" the man said softly, his blue eyes never leaving the girl.

Maya still looked shocked, but her friends looked horrified. Dinah looked at the group curiously. Who was this girl that Saul found so interesting? And why did her friends look so scared.

"Saul?" she asked now.

"Go now Dinah" he only said now, his eyes never leaving Maya's.

The blonde nodded and turned to the three girls. "It was nice to meet you three" she said before rushing off.

Saul took a good look at Maya now. She had a tragic sadness in her eyes. A sadness that he knew had been caused by the acts of people not fifty days ago. She was a beautiful girl and the idea of hurting her or arresting her didn't sit well with him. He would never hurt her. He knew he wouldn't.

"You two go back home" Maya said to her two best friends. "I will be fine."

"But Maya..." Miriam started to say, but was cut off by her friend.

"Now girls. I'll be fine."

How she was so sure that she would be safe was beyond her, but she was sure of it when she and Saul were alone as she looked into his eyes once more. "Do whatever you want to me. I don't care. I'll be with my father again and I welcome death."

Saul's eyes flashed with an unknown emotion she couldn't understand at that moment and she felt sparks when he grabbed her thin arm firmly but gently and pulled her into a secluded corner. He couldn't believe how little a girl would care about her life when she had so much to live for.

"How could you even say something like that?" he asked now, his hand loosening on her arm a little, but he still kept his grip on her. He didn't want her running away so fast. He found that he wanted her close.

"I miss him too much. You would be doing me a favor."

A few tears escaped Maya's eyes as Saul's hand loosened now, running down her arm now until his hand took ahold of her's. "Maya I cannot do that. I cannot kill you or harm you."

"But you're the Captain of the Temple Guard Saul. It's you're duty."

"On the contrary" he said now, tilting her head so that he was now looking into those sad eyes. "That may be my duty Maya, but I will not carry it out. You are no threat."

The man confused her beyond belief. How was it that all the religious leaders wanted her dead, but their head soldier wanted to protect her? It was beyond Maya's comprehension. Her eyes went to the hand that held onto her's now, finding that she didn't want him to let her go. Saul was different than Matthew. She still loved Matthew, but like a brother. She guessed it had always been like that.

"So what do you plan to do?" she asked now, gazing into his beautiful blue eyes once more.

Saul lifted up his other hand and at first she thought he would strike her, but instead he placed it on her cheek, wiping away the tears that had escaped from her eyes. She couldn't believe how fast this was going. Her and Matthew had been a slow burn from the age of sixteen all the way up until she was eighteen and he was nineteen. But this was fast. She had never been instantly attracted or in love with anybody in her life.

"I plan to protect you" he said, pulling her towards him slowly, taking her other hand. "To make sure no one touches you. Ever."

He gazed down at her now, his eyes boring into her's once more. "How can you promise that Saul?" she whispered now, her voice soft and quiet.

"Because whether they like it or not I hold authority. And..." He squeezed her hands gently now, never letting go. "Because I care for you. Very much. And it's only been thirty minutes.

She smiled a little as his lips connected with her cheek before letting go of her hands. "I will see you soon Maya, Daughter of Jesus." he said softly.

"Goodbye Saul" she said softly, smiling up at him one last time before walking away, a blush forming on her cheeks.

Saul watched the girl now as she walked away. She was so sad and all he wanted to do was make her smile. Because her smile was infectious to him. She was beautiful and kind. How could he save a broken girl who lost her father at such a young age? He would certainly try. For her.
