A/N: Yep, still livin'. Sorry I haven't been really active. Yeah, looking at you, school. Anyways, each chapter will have the focus character's name in the title, just letting you know. I LOVE hurt/comfort stories and I thought maybe this might work. I DO imagen them having their doupts during the Merge. Anyways, please enjoy the first chapter featuring: Ray and Maya.

Ray wasn't surprised when he woke up on his and Maya's tent to find that wife wasn't with him.

With a sigh, he got up and went on his daily dawn search for her.

He then looked up. The two moons still glowed, and the clear sky of that morning had a chilly, gray cover.

His stomach then growled with hunger. Surprisingly though, he didn't even notice or care. Why would he? He was already used to hunger. It was hard to imagen that once, there was a time his stomach wasn't empty. Ever since the years following the...the...

Don't you dare even think about its name...

Steps ahead of him told him the light of life was close. He took a few steps more, and he was right.

"Maya?"

This morning she was in a clearing surrounded by orange-and-purple-leaved trees, despite this now being a daily thing, Maya still jumped at the sound of his voice.

She sighed with relief. "Ray..."

They got closer and kissed, then Maya looked back, as if not wanting to look away from the location she was just staring at. Alone.

Ray then sighed. You can do this...just don't screw up this time.

He sighed. "Maya..."

But she was already heading deeper into the clearing, Ray followed behind her.

"Maybe here. This has to be the place."

"Maya.."

"We've been stuck and looking around this whole stinking place for First Spinjitzu Master knows how long, Ray."

"Maya..."

"It has to be here. They-"

"Maya!"

At once, Ray regret yelling. He didn't, FSM...he didn't mean to. Yet, he knew he couldn't stand hearing or remembering a thing about the...the...and especially their...their...

It was too painful to.

His wife looked at him. Eyes frightened and defeated. And now with pain.

"I'm sorry." He apologised. "I'm so sorry. Let's...Let's just head back to our tent, yeah? Then I'll go find us some berries or something."

But his wife stayed there. Looking at the distance.

"Maya, trying to find them," flinch "we will do that. But yo-we both won't be able to if you can't let yourself rest."

Maya turned to him. Silent.

"You...you have to let yourself relax Maya. Do it for me, please." He then sighed before saying the next words, knowing they would be said in pain. "And for our Kai and Nya."

That was when Maya sobbed.

Ray immediately pulled her into a hug and they both kneeled down in the grass.

Time passed, and with it, Ray kept hugging his light.

However, after a while he began to feel useless not saying anything.

He chuckled. "Hey...remember when we first met?" All those years ago...

Maya didn't chuckle, but she smiled. It was actual progress. "Yeah," she said quietly. "we met well. But that same night...did we fought for a while."

Ray smiled. It was true. They hadn't start out together...nicely. Fire and water didn't really match. Heck, there were days we couldn't even stand seeing each other's faces. Ray then froze. And shivered.

Time is CRAZY.

He then got himself back in the present and looked around.

Who would've known that those days would've lead to here.

Maya's smile then faded. But she was calmer than she was minutes ago.

"It's just...unbearable. Ray...how could we have lost them...twice?"

Ray was about to say something he didn't even know until...

His wife looked at him pleadingly. "Please...Promise if something worse than this ever happens...that you won't stop for nothing to save us. Promise that I won't lose you too."

So, Ray did.

"I promise."

Silence.

Maya then smiled again. "My mom would tell me that in the end, the tunnel does see the light of day eventually. And I really do believe that."

Still crouched in the middle of the clearing, Ray looked up once more. The sky had a light pink cover now, much brighter than the gray one it had earlier, meaning the day would start in just a few minutes.

He could only hope they could be in bright days again like midnight turning to dawn.

...I love these two so much. They're adorable to me. Maybe I might make a prequel story about how their love evolved??? Dunno...anyways, thanks so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed the first chapter. Next might be Sora's. Until then...love you all!
