"All right, I have tuna fish on wheat, and for my cupcake, I have PBJ," Papa Dupain handed out Marinette and Adrien's lunch bags. "I sneaked in a surprise you two, so no peeking until lunch," Mama Cheng said.
"Thanks, Mama! Papa!" "So, does that mean I get to add cupcake to your list of nicknames, Bugaboo?" Adrien grinned as they walked to school among the falling leaves. "Oh, how embarrassing! Papa has always had food-related nicknames for me. But at least I don't have to eat tuna!" "Yeah, tuna puts a sparkle in your eye, fluff on your chest, and a wiggle in your tail." "Am I going to school with my partner or Adrien?" "Both." "Be good." Marinette wagged a finger at him. Adrien sighed, grinning. "Yes, M'lady."
Marinette groaned. "When you make it sound like that, it sounds like an old married couple!" "Well, someday we'll get married and have those three kids and hamster that has yet to be named."
Bantering back and forth, the couple entered school. Adrien enjoyed the lessons, but he was curious what Mama had packed. A cupcake? A turnover?
Morning passed quickly, and soon they were heading to their usual table. "Man, I'm hungry," Marinette sighed. "That art test was something." "Hey, what's this?" Adrien pulled out a small folded note. He opened it, and read silently.
"Have a good day at school, Adrien! You bring so much son-shine to our luves!
We love you!
Mama and Papa
Adrien suddenly felt tears pricking his eyes and it wasn't from the tuna. "Mama and Papa gave me a lunch note," he whispered, sliding it across to Marinette. "I haven't gotten one before. Did you get one too?" Marinette nodded, showing him.
"The world maybe topsy-turvey,
But you'll handle it with your creativity!
But when you feel bogged down,
Come to us for a hug!"
"We are so lucky," Marinette whispered, and Adrien nodded. Mama and Papa had welcomed him with open arms, and he loved them so much. Maybe they could do nice for her parents this afternoon, but now it was time for lunch!
