BEWARE THE MOON

Kimberly Anne Possible woke with a start and felt her back ache as she moved. She looked all around herself and saw that she was on the couch in the living room of her best friend and boyfriend, Ronald Dean Stoppable. It was early in the morning and his coffee table still had a mostly empty bowl that had a few pieces of popcorn and several kernels in it. There was also several empty cans of both regular and diet soda while the TV in front of them had a DVD menu displaying the special features. She looked to her right and saw Ron was asleep on the other side of the couch. He was leaning over the arm with his head resting on the end table with his arm acting as a pillow while his naked mole rat, Rufus, was asleep on top of his head. Kim snickered a little and was tempted to take a picture of the duo with her phone, but decided not to.
"Ron, wake up. Ron?" she asked but didn't see either her boyfriend of naked rodent move. "Ron!"
"I'm awake!" Ron shouted as he bolted upward and sent the mole rat tumbling to the couch cushions in between his owner and Kim. The mole rat immediately began shouting at Ron in its own little language that only the two, and a few select others, could understand. "Sorry, buddy." Ron said as he placed his hand against the back of his neck.
"Stiff neck?" Kim asked.
"Feels like it. What happened?"
"We fell asleep during your pre-Halloween movie marathon." Kim said as she stood and began to walk in an effort to relieve her stiffness.
"Aw, man! We weren't even halfway through them yet." Ron moaned as he stood and felt several of his vertebra pop.
"You rented a lot this year. Look at all these. The Wolf man, Silver Bullet, An American Werewolf in London and Paris, The Monster Squad, Wolf. Why the sudden change this year?"
"To be honest, I'm getting burned out on the whole zombie thing. It was time to switch things up." Ron admitted as Rufus hopped onto the arm of the couch and leapt into his owner's pants pocket.
"It's about time." Kim whispered to herself. Kim couldn't ever really understand why so many people were into zombies so much. Vampires she could understand since she had always had a mild fascination with them. Even some of the giant monster movies were entertaining. But Zombies? That totally flew over her head. "You know, I think we had too much junk food last night."
"What makes you say that?" Ron asked her as they both made their way to the kitchen so he could start cooking them breakfast.
"I had a strange dream last night."
"What was it about?" Ron asked as he pulled out a frying pan from the cabinet.
"It was about our ancestors. The ones from the fair." Kim said.
"John and Mim? I thought we made them up."
"So did I. This dream was so vivid; like the last one. They were on this ranch and it involved Uncle Slim, Joss,"
"And a priest that was a werewolf?" Ron asked her as he stopped in front of the fridge.
"Yes." Kim said as she looked at her boyfriend.
"And John got bit and started turning into one too?"
"Ron," Kim said as she raised an eyebrow. "did you have the same dream too?"
"Well, what you're describing is the plot to some of the movies we saw last night. But . . . yeah. I dreamed the same thing." Ron admitted.
"That's freaky. We both had a dream about the same ancestors? Twice?" Kim asked.
"I'm starting to get goose bumps, KP." Ron said.
"Creepy." Rufus piped in as he hugged himself and shivered.
Rom did his best to shake off the weird vibes he had from the shared experience he had with his girlfriend as he opened the fridge and proceeded everything he would need to make the three of them omelets. Beef sausage and salsa for himself, veggie for Kim, and cheese overload for Rufus. As he placed all his ingredients on the counter, Kim's communicator began to beep. She lifted ti wrist watch to eye level and answered the incoming call from her long time friend and tech guru.
"What's the sitch, Wade?"
"Happy Halloween, buddy!" Ron called out as he cracked a few eggs into a small bowl and began to whisk.
"Happy Halloween, guys. Nothing big is going on right now. However, I finally found something having to deal with that little project of yours." Wade said.
"Did I miss Barkin giving us more homework again?"
"No, Ron. You're safe for now." Kim reassured him.
"A few months back, Kim told me about that shared dream you had at the museum. Curiosity got the better of her and she asked me to look into both of your family trees to see if Jonathan Stoppable and Miriam Possible were real or not."
"Speaking of which, we were just talking about them." Ron said.
"Yeah. We had another dream about them." Kim said.
"That's freaky." Wade said.
"You're telling me." Ron said as he prepped a frying pan and turned on a burner while adding a few more items to his omelet mixture.
"So you said you found something?" Kim asked.
"Right. It turns out that there really was a Miriam and Jonathan."
"What?!" both Kim, Ron, and Rufus asked at the same time.
"The records are incomplete, but they were something like freelance investigators for years until something happened. After one case, they dropped out of sight. There aren't anymore records of them for a couple of years until I found their wedding photo. After that, there isn't anything else. It's like they dropped off the face of the earth."
"Did you say wedding photo?" Ron asked.
"Sure did. I'm sending it to your home printer now, Ron."
"Thanks, Wade. You rock." Kim said as Wade terminated the call.
Ron turned off the burner and both headed into the living room where the computer sat. They could hear the printer printing and both almost sprinted to the machine as it finished printing and spit out the photo. Kim grasped it and raised for all three of them to see. Rufus' jaw hung open while Ron and Kim's eyes widened. Standing there in black and white, looking almost exactly as they had dreamed, was John and Mim. Miriam wore a simple but elegant white dress while holding a bouquet of flowers while a happy and very wide smile sat on her face. Jonathan had the mustache that started on his upper lip and spread down to his chin, along his jaw, and up to his sideburns while some somewhat shaggy hair was combed backward. He wore a simple and fine suit with his left arm was wrapped around Miriam's waist and holding a cane in his right hand. There was a large smile that was just as wide as Mim's that rode his face as well. Both were spitting images of Kim and Ron. Both of the teen's eyes drifted downward and looked at the cane that John was holding. It was a long black cane with what to be a metal handle; possibly silver. It was an elegantly shaped handle that was made to look like a wolf.
