She knew it was wishful thinking, but the thought of being put in the same cell as Ah-Un had crossed her mind more than once as she was forced down several hallways and a few flights of stairs. She was grateful the dungeons weren't underground, sunlight filtering between the stones in the wall and a single barred window.
They'd released her bonds, at least, the rawness of her wrists dissipating after the first day. They provided regular meals and a comfortable enough bed, so overall, she didn't have many complaints, but the question still remained: where was Sesshoumaru?
She flared her power again, having done so every few hours to see if he'd returned. She needed to talk to him, to check on him, and she wasn't sure if Jaken would let her stay in the citadel if she fought her way out.
Ah-Un had already escaped, snorting outside her window after dropping a half-eaten pear into her cell. "You should go find Kohaku. I'll be fine here. You know that they can't hurt me." One head nipped at her fingers, but they continued to stand guard for the next two days, finally disappearing at sunset with a soft cry.
She assumed some of the soldiers had discovered their hiding spot, and she flared her power again, hoping to distract whoever was after them long enough for the beast to escape. A few minutes later, the door to her cell opened, and Ah-Un bounded inside, both heads bumping hers.
Her relief was short-lived as the Lord of the West stepped inside, and she readied herself for another bout of verbal abuse, but as she met his gaze, she offered him a wane smile. "Oh, it's finally you."
