It was the middle of June. Everyone was off school and Tina finally had time to plan her baby shower.
"You're inviting Tammy and Jocelyn?" Jimmy Jr. asked, looking over the guest list. "Don't they hate you?"
"Honestly I just wanna see their reactions" Tina mumbled.
Jimmy Jr smiled at her. "You're so weird" he said. Tina laughed. "But that's why you love me."
"Can I come in? I'm already in so say yes."
"Hey Louise!" Tina called to her sister. "We were just going over the guest list for the baby shower."
She handed the list over to Louise. She looked over it and nodded. "Yeah, that sounds right. I wanna see Tammy's reaction!"
Tina turned to Jimmy Jr. "See?"
"Hey, Tina! We're here for your kid washing party!" Jocelyn called out as she and Tammy stepped into the house.
Tammy rolled her eyes. "That's not what a baby shower means Jocelyn!"
"Thanks for coming!" Tina greeted them.
"Yeah, we're only here for the free food," Tammy said, roughly shoving her bag into Tina's hands. "Hey, Jimmy Jr!" she called out, rushing toward him. "How'd you end up with Tina anyway?" she took a sip of soda.
Jimmy Jr sighed. "We're seriously having this conversation again? You were there at prom!"
Tammy laughed. "Yeah, I know. I just like messing with you." She took two more sodas. "Here you go, Joce" she tossed Jocelyn a can of root beer.
"Are you two dating yet?" Tina asked.
"Yeah, but I dunno if we wanna get married," Jocelyn answered, struggling to open her soda.
Tammy took it from her to help. "God Tina you're so nosy!" she said.
"Well, I'm glad you're happy," Tina said with an awkward smile. She backed up closer to Jimmy Jr. "God what a bitch" she muttered. "You know maybe if you tried being nicer to her you wouldn't have this problem." Jimmy Jr. said.
"She blackmailed me! I have nothing to apologize for!" Tina said.
"Yeah well that was like 10 years ago so…" Jimmy Jr took a big sip of his strawberry soda. "Come on, let's go start this thing!"
"Open mine first!" Louise said.
"A…notebook?" Tina questioned, staring at the small pink and purple notebook in her hand.
"So your kid can follow in your footsteps and write their own freak fiction!"
"Uh..thanks," Tina said, setting the notebook down.
She reached for a small yellow box with the name "Gene" written in sharpie. "A kazoo?" Tina opened the box and held up the small orange instrument.
"Yeah!" Gene exclaimed. "We can jam together!"
"Okay did anyone get any actual baby stuff?" Tina asked, slightly irritated.
"I did." A voice called from behind her.
Tina turned around. "Dad?"
Bob handed his daughter a large light purple box. Tina opened it and pulled out a small purple jumper with a unicorn on the front.
"It's…perfect" Tina exclaimed with tears in her eyes. "Thanks so much, dad!"
Bob turned away, looking embarrassed.
"Is there something you need to talk about?" Tina asked him, concerned.
"It's fine," Bob assured her. "I can talk about it later," he sat back down and took a deep breath.
Tina felt uneasy for the next hour as she tried continuing the baby shower. Linda gave her a bunch of diapers and a baby bottle and Tammy and Jocelyn brought an Equestrinaughts binkie, which was actually quite thoughtful.
Tina finally decided she needed to talk to her father. She sat down next to him and took a deep breath.
"Dad, if you need to talk then let's step out and talk," she grabbed his wrist trying to pull him towards the porch.
"I-okay" Bob finally agreed.
