Chapter 22: Bliss
"Ruby! Wha-What are you doing?" Blake asked in confusion. They should be celebrating right now seeing as how they just became professionals. Ruby of all people should have been squealing with excitement; after all this was her dream come true.
"I got another dream to make happen right now!" Ruby said as she got out of earshot of the others.
"What is it?" Blake asked.
Ruby took a deep breath, steeling herself for what she was about to tell Blake. She knew this was a heavy week for her girlfriend, losing Adam and this battle and funeral they just endured. But her body felt warm remembering their lover's embraces over these recent nights. It felt natural to her and every moment her body touched Blake's, and she knew it was something she wanted to feel forever.
"Blake, I want to thank you for everything you've done for me. Not just this month, but everything since we first met." She said softly. Blake smiled warmly hearing this, she remembered defending Ruby from Weiss's lashing the day they met, even though it was really to knock the prideful heiress down a peg or two.
"Yeah, though from what I heard, Jaune was more of a white knight for you than I was." She teased, having heard what Ruby said before kissing jaune that day. If it weren't for the fact she regained faith in Ruby or that Jaune was with Pyrrah she'd be jealous right now.
"I know, but my first hero was a knight in black armor, with a bow that hid the most adorable pair of kitty ears I ever saw." She teased, causing Blake to blush.
"Well, your son's cuter than mine." She softly said.
Ruby's eyes narrowed with bliss, she was truly touched by those words. Yes, her son, whom Blake saved from Salem even at risked to her own life. It was another in the long list of things she was grateful for. Blake was grateful for how Ruby always accepted her even though she was faunus and a former white fang.
"That's right, you always did see the best in me, even when I didn't." Blake said warmly.
"Always have, always will. You deserved that." Ruby replied.
Ruby meant every word, she never felt uncomfortable with Blake, even though after her rape she was initially unsettled being around faunus men.
"Seriously Blake, if it wasn't for all your support this year, I probably would be dead by my own hand by now." Ruby said as she rubbed her stomach.
Blake frowned from this declaration. She bitterly remembered the many nights Ruby cried awake in terror from her nightmares of that fearsome night she was raped. Ruby had horrible fate forced upon her for sure, and she knew she couldn't truly comprehend the pain she endured, carrying a child she never asked for either.
"I do get how painful its been, seeing those glares and hearing those sneers. But getting a warm hug from someone you loved always made it feel better." Blake said as she gave a big one to Ruby, who smiled in bliss as her spirit felt like it was melting.
Adam used to give these to Blake when she cried and confided in him her feelings of loneliness from being without her true mother. He said the exact same words to her that she now gave to Ruby. She couldn't help but thank her adoptive brother for all his guidance; it's what led to her finding true happiness at last.
Ruby broke off the hug and gave a huge sigh; she just knew she had to ask Blake something important.
"Blake, when Timber forced a kid in me, I felt my dream was never going to come true. But just like my first day at beacon, you were the knight like in my moms stories I dreamed would save me." She said warmly. She remembered wishing this strongly as she was being beaten and raped by Timber that night, but unlike in her bedtime stories, it never came. She knew the bitter reality from experience that life wasn't like those stories, but with Blake around she felt otherwise. She had to have her for good.
"Blake… Will you marry me?" Ruby asked sweetly.
Blake's cat ears and eyes sparked up as she jumped in joy.
"Yeeeeeeeeessssss!" Blake replied as she jumped into Ruby's arms and kissed her. She had wanted to hear these words ever since their first kiss. Despite being two years older and taller, if Ruby could handle Crescent Rose she could easily twirl her fiancé around. They then rushed over to their teams and friends. They just had to share this revelation with the others.
Everyone but Sun, Ozpin and Ironwood gave cheers of glee as they hugged Ruby and Blake in congratulations. Ironwood and Ozpin were out of professionalisms, though still gave smiles and congratulations for the happy couple. Sun however was surprisingly mellower with his reaction. As opposed to what Weiss was assuming, knowing his feelings for Blake, he was not jealous. He was simply internally wishing his team was around to share this moment with him. He winced as he remembered seeing them flown to the hospital, as their injuries were far more severe. He was going to ask Ironwood to grant the honor he was given today to them as well, but for now smacked his cheeks. He wanted to congratulate these two for their joyful occasion.
"Ruby, you don't know how lucky you are right now girl." He said with a grin to Ruby.
Weiss gave him a small playful slug to his shoulder for the smile he brought the couple. She felt she could relate to him, having been rejected by someone she loved too.
"Okay everyone it's time to party!" Weiss roared as she summoned glyphs and sent an army of white doves made of dust from her semblance that exploded in the sky as fireworks.

Ruby held Blake and Yang's hands as she stood outside her Father's house. She felt Blake's heart pounded with anxiety, something she understood completely. While she was hopeful since he accepted her and Blake's relationship, she was also worried he would deny their engagement because they were young.
"Don't worry about it too much, I'm barely 17 and already have a kid, what more is a wedding?" she said with a bright smile, but Blake could see the anxiety in her eyes. Nonetheless, Blake resolved to face any challenge with Ruby by her side, so she took a deep breath and nodded, forcing a smile. Yang took that as a sign they were ready and knocked on the door.
"Coming!" Tai yelled aloud, his response overlapping the crying from Thorn in the house. Ruby perked up, becoming giddy with anticipation at seeing her son after a full week. Yang smiled, she remembered how when Ruby was pregnant she would glare angrily at her bulging stomach, disgusted with her forced pregnancy. Now she couldn't be separated from her son for more than a few days without freaking out, just like Thorn without her or his ball.
"Like mother like son" she thought warmly.
As Tai opened the door, his expression was frightening to say the least. His eyes had dark rings with wrinkles, showing he hadn't been sleeping. Ruby peaked in to see Raven cradling a wailing Thorn, so she squealed as she petal burst into the house past her startled father's legs and grabbed Thorn from an equally shocked Raven, who merely passed out with exhaustion after being relieved of duty. Yang could tell the baby had clearly kept them both up, but disregarded her parents condition as her heart melted seeing her sister give her son a ton of kisses on his cheeks and forehead, stopping his crying and eliciting giggling coos from the infant, whose dog ears perked up and his tail wagged.
"Mommy missed you too my sweet little rose!" Ruby said as she warmly laid eyes upon her son, who patted her chest indicating he was hungry. Ruby sighed, she didn't feel like breastfeeding but wanted to talk to her father right away about her engagement so whipped out her breast for him to suckle right away. She fought her tickling sensation in her chest and sat down on the living room couch.
"Hey dad, I get your tired, but can you please sit down, we need to talk." She said nicely, but with a stern look showcasing her determination to speak with him right now. Tai fought his exhaustion and simply yawned as he head over to the couch and sat down.
"So… what is it sweetie?" he calmly asked. But Ruby could see the fear in his eyes, it was no wonder seeing as how they were in a school hospital recovering for a week and he couldn't check on them, despite Qrow assuring him they were safe. Blake and Yang sat beside Ruby, the former twirling her fingers nervously.
"Sir, I…uh.. we wanted to ask you something important." Blake stuttered as she held Ruby's hand that didn't hold Thorn up for his feeding.
"What? Are you going to ask me to let you marry?" he chuckled, his tone obviously meaning he was kidding. But his smile faded into a frown as he was shocked to see his daughter avert her gaze on him towards Blake solemnly.
"Wait… are you seriously asking?..." he began to ask before Yang cut him off by raising her hand.
"Hold on dad, let them be the ones to ask you something first!" she said sternly, causing him to freeze in place.
Ruby sighed as she struggled to force the words out of her mouth; they felt harder to pass than her morning sickness bouts she sometimes got.
"Dad, I get you lost a lot of sleep worrying about me this week since the battle. Even I have always understood how short for some people life can be and how it can be ripped away so unfairly. But Blake makes me feel safer than even Yang over there when she's by my side. She means the world to me now." She said, earning a tender look from a blushing Blake and a somewhat offended look that said, "hey what am I chopped liver?" from Yang.
"Dad… Please give us your blessing. I want to marry Blake more than ever and have her be my… our family." Ruby finished as she pulled Thorn to her face, giving him a tender kiss as a tear fell from her eye to his cheek as he cooed.
Tai stood there silent, he just couldn't think of how to respond to such a request. In that moment he saw his daughter not in her current state, but as her 5 year old self giggling. He cried a little as he imagined her like this, then began to see her original beacon (s1) outfit smiling. His heart shuddered as he remembered her past look, the look he saw her the last time before her rape in which it was destroyed. She had run off to become a huntress like her mother and had suffered a crueler fate than she did. He wanted to keep her at arms length since then. He couldn't imagine entrusting Blake to her and them moving out at so young an age, even if Ruby was doing fine as a mother he didn't feel they were ready.
"Ruby… I don't think it's a good tim…." He began to say before
seeing a crying Ruby soon become the image of his second wife Summer before him, giving him an encouraging nod.
He then cursed himself internally for his selfishness. He knew his daughter, like her mother, was a free spirit and shouldn't be caged like a bird to keep him happy. With a heavy sign he looked over to Blake.
"Your sure you can make my daughter happy?" he sternly asked her. Blake clenched her hands as she stood upright and gave a determined look to him.
"For every minute for the rest of our lives sir I promise!" she declared, earning a proud smile from her partner and her lover.
Tai then looked to see Raven snoring on the floor and then he chuckled.
"Well, If me and Snorzilla over there could make it work after all that's happened, I guess its stupid of me to think you two couldn't. Okay, you both can get married." He warmly said, earning a tearful response from the happy couple who gave Yang Thorn as they kissed and hugged each other.
"But you have to wait until you graduate, you need jobs to help support yourselves" he quickly added, he knew they needed money for the wedding, let alone living together.
"Oh don't worry, Ozpin let us graduate for saving the school again. Were official huntresses!" Ruby said joyfully as she showed her shocked father her license. He merely collapsed in surprise as he cried and had his hands to his cover his eyes.
"Why are you growing up so damn fast" he hiccupped.
Wedding
6 months later
Ruby sat in a chair before a mirror. Her sister Yang and Weiss were helping her apply the last touches of her makeup and wedding outfit.
"Oh my gosh! You look so adorable baby sis!" Yang said, her eyes glistening as she fought tears seeing her younger sister in a red and white dress, with rose petals and glitter around it. She smiled happily, though was a bit embarrassed at this declaration.
"That's right, in a few minutes I'll be getting married." She said softly. Her heart beat rapidly as she pondered this reality. Thinking about seeing Blake in a dress, perhaps growing old with her, and their "wedding night" to come made her shiver with anticipation.
"Yeah, I am sure Blake's gonna be thrilled to see you in that dress even more than Yang here though." Weiss confidently said, which gave Ruby nervous sweats, she was imagining her romantic night with Blake even more. Since their engagement, Ruby and Blake vowed to be less frugal to appease their parents, and the fact they could hear them moan at nights brought nothing but headaches and embarrassment to them. She was honestly sexually frustrated right now and couldn't wait to get this over with to end that problem.
As this was happening, Pyrrah came into the dressing room with a bright smile on her red lips.
"Okay is she ready now? Blake's at the altar waiting." She said.
Ruby gave one last look in the mirror and breathed deeply. Yang places her hands on her shoulders, startling her into cease zoning out.
"Just think of that walk as one last battle rescue the princess like in mom's stories." She said. Ruby cried a little, despite Weiss warning her not to get rid of her eyeliner. The thought of mom surged through her mind as she remembered those stories that inspired her so many times. She looked out the window to see the starry night, her eyes fixated though on the full moon shining above her. She requested her wedding day to be at the night of the full moon, so "she" could see it happen.
Summer Rose's spirit appeared out the window and gave her daughter a bright smile.
"Ruby what are you looking at?" Yang and Weiss said as they noticed Ruby looking out the window and turned to see nothing. Not that Ruby could blame them, only silver eyed people could communicate on full moons with each other, so they naturally couldn't see them. Her heart felt guilt with this knowledge, she wished Yang could see their mom as well, so she decided not to bring it up.
"It's nothing, just…. Fond memories." She said as she wiped tears from her eyes, as Weiss groaned having to quickly reapply the eyeliner and glitter.
All the guests sat in their church pews chattering to each other about their anticipation for the event. Ozpin and Ironwood were talking about how much Ruby has grown up since her first interview with the former. Glynda talked with Raven about how she was honestly missing the chaos the red head caused daily, feeling so bored these days. Sun and Mercury were talking about how hot Blake looked in her purple dress.
Blake held, or rather gripped her father's hand like a vice. He could tell she was feeling overwhelmed from the big event. He felt the same way, remembering he had sweat through 3 shirts today just like he did on his own wedding night. He looked over to the bride's maids to see his own new wife, Ilia's mother Leia smiling to him. He remembered how it felt on his wedding days with his first two wives, how alone with his anxiety he felt. Her smile warmed his heart as he turned to his daughter.
"I can't tell you how proud I am of you, and how grateful I feel to have you as my daughter right now." He said lovingly, he was surely grateful for her support during his wedding a few months ago, despite fearing she would resent him for falling in love again. His fears melted along with his heart when she returned his smile.
"I did have a great role model growing up." She said warmly.
Before they could so much as hug, everyone in the crowd went silent alerting them to the main doors which slowly opened up.
Wedding march music played as the doors revealed Ruby.
Tai and Qrow felt their heartstrings tugged seeing Ruby slowly walk down the isle in her wedding dress, with Weiss and Yang carrying the back rose petals behind her.
"I can't believe my little Rose is all grown up. Seems just like yesterday I fed her a bottle." Tai hiccupped as he struggled to keep his composure.
"Seems like yesterday I trained her to wield a scythe and kissed her booboos" Qrow chuckled, knowing Tai would ease up and give him a confused look since he was normally cool looking rather than sentimental.
As Ruby passed her friends and family down the isles, smiling as she heard their whimper's and talks about how cute she was, she looked to see her son in a stroller, being watched by Nora who was pinching his cheeks teasingly.
"Mama, Mama!" Thorn cooed as he ran down the isle and hugged her, earning awes and laughs from the crowd as Yang picked up her nephew.
"I got this kiddo, now go knock her dead." she said to her little sister as she took a sit with Thorn.
Ruby smiled as she finally made it to the center of the isle. She handed Weiss her bouquet and clasped Blake's hands.
Jaune walked in wearing a priest gown, one he had purchased for this occasion. He was honored Ruby and Blake asked him to be ordained for the ceremony, and was really looking forward to marrying off two of his closest friends. With an assuring nod from both of them, saying they were ready, Jaune was ready to begin as well.
"D-Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today… uh tonight! To join these two lovebirds in holy matrimony." Jaune said, correcting himself nervously when remembering the time. He wanted to make sure he didn't screw this up for them. Seeing Ruby and Blake giggle a little eased him up before feeling a hot aura coming from Yang with an "I'll kill you if you screw my sis's big day up!" look in her red eyes.
Jaune gulped as he struggled to remember his lines.
"Okay Jaune, Okay" he said to himself as he sighed.
"Who has the rings?" he asked.
"I got them I got them!" Thorn yelled as he ran out of Yang's lap and towards his mothers. Ruby and Blake stood in shock, they thought they gave the rings to Penny. They looked over to her who gave them a bright grin.
"Nora said it would be cute." She said unashamed. Ruby and Blake frowns toward the sheepish Nora melted into smiles as their hearts tugged seeing Thorn give them their rings with his tiny fingers. They decided to let it go and thanked Penny and Thorn for the sweet gift.
"We will now exchange vows" Jaune said.
Blake placed Ruby's ring on her finger,
"Ruby, when I got to know you I thought "this girls the embodiment of purity" and I still feel it now. You remind me of my optimism I thought I had lost growing up. You reminded me of a brighter future anyone can obtained if they work hard enough, and are lucky, to obtain it with their own hands. With this ring I put on your hand, I pledge to honor and cherish you the rest of our bright future together." She said.
Ghira teared up as he hugged his wife, almost screaming in joy at his daughter vow.
"Blake, when I first got to know you, I thought it would be impossible to connect with someone so mysterious." She began, Blake's cat ears going down a bit from this confession. They perked up as Ruby countered her own statement.
"But as I got to know you, I felt you were a new path for me to walk down that exposed me to a lot of difficult, but extremely worthwhile experiences in life. Experiences I never would have had the courage to face if you weren't there to inspire me. I feel I can now face any hurdle in life not with Crescent Rose but you as my greatest weapon. With this ring, I pledge to love you so much till the day I die." She finished. Her pledge almost making Blake collapse from her knees growing weak. Jaune decided to press things along before that happened.
"Blake, do you take Ruby as your lawfully wedded wife?"
Blake didn't even a second to answer.
"I do." she said lovingly. As soon as she uttered these words Ruby couldn't contain herself any longer. She grasped a startled Blake's face and gave her the deepest kiss she could as they closed their eyes.
"Well no need to ask Ruby that's for sure. So by the power vested in me by Vale I now pronounce you wife and wife". Jaune said as the church erupted into a chorus of cheers, crying, and rice being thrown.
Wedding night
Yang wiped tears from her eyes as the married couple ran down the isle. "My baby sis really is all grown up." She hiccupped.
The two ran outside to see their ship, which Ironwood rented to them free for their honeymoon, which Weiss helped arrange for them as her wedding gift.
"5 star hotel on Weiss, here we come." Ruby cheered as they took off into the ship.
"Hello Ruby, Blake, ready for your trip?" Penny's voice said over the ships intercom, confusing them. Penny scanned their emotions to sense their nervousness and decided to explain.
"Ironwood felt I was the best autopilot so he asked me to fly you to your resort trip." She explained.
The trio then departed to an luxary atlas hotel resort. It was complete with pools, hot tubs, buffets, 5 star restaurants, and spas.
But since it was late by the time they arrived, having had their wedding on a full moon, the duo were exhausted and made straight for their rooms first before thinking of trying any of that awesome stuff.

"Time for the moment I've been waiting months for." Blake said seductively as they approached their hotel room. Ruby's heart fluttered. 5 Years later….
"Mommy! Do you really have to go?" Thorn, now a 5 year old boy dressed in red and black overalls (similar to stewie from Family guy) wined as he looked at his mother teary eyed.
"Yes sweetie, don't worry me and mama Blake will be home soon enough." She said softly.
Team RWBY arrived at Tai and Raven's house in patch from the airship Penny drove them.
"Well there they are, right on schedule." Raven said as she saw the ship out the window. She then saw her husband frantically keep the picture frames in their house from falling over from the huge gust of wind that it creped into their house. He took deep breaths of relief as he managed to save them, taking a tender look at them. They were all photos of Ruby and Blake with their son Thorn, playing at a water park, blowing out a first birthday cake candle, and playing on a swing set at the park. His face shined brightly as remembered the favor Ruby asked him for. She needed him to babysit.
The team had to prepare for a mission Ironwood commissioned them for in Atlas. Only Thorn, Ren, and Nora joined them.
"Too bad Pyrrah's still pregnant, she and Jaune could have been a big help." Nora groaned. Everyone smiled, they were happy to recall the wonderful memories they shared over these 5 years. Blake and Ruby's wedding, Team JNPR's weddings, and the announcement of Jaune and Pyrrah having a daughter on the way.
"I hope she names it after me, we'd be matching red head ruby's." Ruby said. She then looked at her own child, her stomach knotting as she knew a fight may occur from him.
They first had to drop the toddler off at his grandparent's house so they could babysit him. Something the kid was clearly not into.
"It's boring at Grandpa and Grandma's house, can't I play with you and kitty mama too." He asked innocently. His request earned an intense blushfest from Blake and Ruby as the others glared at them smiling teasingly. "Kitty Mama" was a nickname in bed Ruby used for Blake to get them going, and she wasn't sure how their son had heard her say that.
"We really need to add more insolation to our room." Blake groaned, covering her eyes in embarrassment.
"Thorn, never call her that again, it's mama Blake got it!" she admonished her child who sniffled in response, not expecting a scolding. Ruby winced as she instantly picked him up and calmed down.
"Oh oh don't worry sweetie, I'm not made anymore. Please don't cry, come on show me that smile, huh or she me those cute little ears perk up. Oooh I just wanna nibble them." She talked in a mushy tone as Thorn giggled from the nibbling, almost wetting himself from the tickling.
As the ship landed and they unloaded a suitcase full of Thorn's clothes and toys, Ruby and Blake met up with Tai and Raven outside the house.
"Thanks for watching him Dad, Auntie Raven." Ruby said as she hugged them.
"Hey I said you could call me mom you know." Raven scolded her, but it just felt too weird for Ruby to refer to the older huntress as her mother. Summer was her only mom in her mind.
"And like I always say, I'll think about it" she lied.
She then bent down to give her glum looking son a goodbye hug.
"Hey, momma's gonna go kick some but and save the kingdom again. You be a good boy for me while I am gone. Grandpa's gonna tell me if you act up." She said softly then sternly to make sure he stayed in line. He was always a hyperactive child, and noticing his cut on his ear, Ruby felt comfortable having her dad watch over him. Like her now, he was always overprotective and felt he could keep her son out of danger from his explorative impulses. Thorn sniffled as she hugged her neck one more time.
"Please don't be long mommy." He cried. Ruby teared up a bit. She had forgotten it was likely on any missions she may not come back, like mom didn't, so she shouldn't have said things that might not be true. She decided to say something instead that was an absolute guarantee in her heart.
"I love you, my sweet little rose." She tenderly said as she kissed his cheek and tearfully departed with her wife back into he ship, waving out the window to her son as she took off on what would prove to be her most dangerous mission yet.

We are now gearing up for the climactic battle between Cinder's forces and Team Rwby and JNPR.
