Hi All, So this is my first Seal Team fanfic but I have been watching the show recently and I couldn't help but think of this. It doesn't really follow a season and it goes to my story line, not the show.

Also, I am not familiar with the Military Jargon, so I am going to try my best.

Chapter 1- How It Started

Mia had been in Boston getting her degree and finishing her residency when she moved to New York to finish out her fellow ship and become a staff attending.

Working and living in New York was nice but she missed her family. She looked at job listings at hospitals in Virginia Beach all the time.

She missed being close to her brother, her niece and nephew, and her BRAVO family. Seeing them over Facetime was not the same.

A couple months after her final shift, it was time for graduation. She was excited to see her brother and the rest of her family she barely slept the night before they were all coming in.

They were going to stay with her at her townhouse. She had the room, and she missed the crazy, so she insisted when her brother tried to argue that they get a hotel.

She was practically vibrating with energy as she stood at the gate in airport waiting for them to come through security.

Her niece and nephew saw her first, dropping their bags, running towards her with big smiles on their faces.

"AUNT MIA!" they shouted as they ran towards her.

Mia opened her arms and caught them with a smile of her own. "Emma, Mikey, Mmmhm, I missed you guys so much" she said squeezing them tight to her.

"We missed you too. We are so excited to see you and go to your gr'dation" Mikey said in his five-year-old speak.

"It's graduation Mikey" Emma corrected her brother.

Mia laughed, "that's okay" she said to Emma before kneeling down to face her nephew, "thank you buddy" she kissed his cheek before wrapping him in a hug, picking him up.

"We are all excited to see you" she looked up to see her big brother and the rest of her family standing there, around her.

She smiled and launched at her brother, wrapping around him in a hug.

Jason smiled and tightened his arms around his sister. Bending slightly to kiss the top of her head. "We missed you so much Skittles" he teased.

She smiled and laughed as she pulled away to greet her sister-in-law Alana and everyone else. Everyone had flown out. The whole of BRAVO was standing there in front of her. Even Cerberus.

"I missed you guys so much. Thank you all for coming out" she said her arm around her brother.

"We wouldn't miss your graduation for the world Sunshine, or should I say Dr. Sunshine" Sonny teased.

Mia laughed, "no it's okay, you guys don't have to get all formal on me" she replied.

That was what she missed. It was even better as the weekend went on because every morning she woke up, she was greeted to a full house.

Alana and Naima cooking breakfast, Jason leaning against the Island with a cup of coffee, Brock and Trent at the table reading the paper, Sonny dozing on the couch, and Ray standing next to her brother deep in conversation.

She was really going to miss them and the scene before her when they were gone. It was even better at her graduation.

When they called her name to walk across the stage and get her white coat, she couldn't help but smile at the uproar she heard from the audience.

It was why, years later, she was trying to find a job a little closer to home. She never gave up on her dream of working and living in Virginia Beach to be closer to her family, especially after what happened to her sister-in-law.

She wanted to be there for her brother and his family. They needed her. Family was more important than anything else.

That's why when the base hospital called and offered her a trauma surgeon position in the Emergency Room, she immediately agreed.

Knowing her brother, she knew that he was going to argue with her for leaving her life and moving down to Virginia Beach to help them out, but she did it anyway.

Mia didn't tell Jason or anyone except her best friend that she was coming back home. She didn't want Jason to try and stop her.

That's why when Mia had just passed the 'Welcome to Virginia Beach' sign she started to feel relief that she was finally home.

It was nice being away from the family drama and just focusing on who she is and her life at school, but she was ready to be home. She missed her brother and his family.

Believe it or not, she also missed BRAVO and the drama that came with the teams.

Since she was going to surprise Jason and the kids tomorrow at the BRAVO Summer BBQ, she made her way to the Bulkhead to meet Grace for a drink and dinner.

She couldn't help but laugh and shake her head as she walked in and noticed Grace at the bar, staring hard at the door.

It didn't take her long to realize that Mia had arrived because as soon as she saw her, she stood up and started jumping up and down clapping like a loon, "Bitchy, you are here" she squealed, pulling her into a hug once Mia got close.

She couldn't help but just laugh at her friend's antics as she put her bag on the bar and wrapped her bestie in a hug.

"I missed your face" Grace said pulling away and reclaiming her seat.

Mia laughed, "yeah well, I missed you too. I missed everything and everyone. I can't wait to get settled here again" she said making herself comfortable.

Grace smiled, "it's about time you came home. Jason is acting like everything is fine with the kids and they are just getting over the hump. They all need you more than ever" she informed her friend.

"Yeah, I know. I have been talking to Emma and she is struggling every time Jason is spun up. She is just a kid. She shouldn't have to deal with all that" Mia agreed.

Grace nodded, "I completely agree and not to be totally selfish, I have been dying at the hospital without you" she exaggerated dramatically.

Mia quirked an eyebrow, "really, then who is this mysterious Connor Rhodes I have been hearing about?" she teased as the bar tender made his way over.

"What can I get you gorgeous?" he asked.

Mia smiled, "just a seltzer with lime please" she replied.

Grace frowned, "Boo, how am I supposed to tell you about Dr. McDreamy if we aren't buzzed?" she asked.

Mia threw her head back laughing, "I still have to drive home and be at Jason's early tomorrow morning. I can't exactly face the war that I am going to have with my stubborn ass big brother if I am fighting a hangover now, can I?" she answered.

"Ugh, Fine, you are excused this time" Grace stated as she took a sip of her own Margarita.

At the other end of the bar, Clay and Brian were having their drinks, talking about how Clay's first week with BRAVO team when they heard a girl squeal, drawing their attention to the door.

"Bitchy, you are here"

They watched the red head as she blushed bright red and made her way through the bar to the Brunette jumping up and down. Once she was close enough, the Brunette grabbed her in a hug, jumping with her.

Brian looked over at Clay to find him watching the Red Head with interest. Smirking, he lifted his drink and said, "looks like someone is excited to see their friend."

Clay nodded, his eyes still on the pair, bringing the beer bottle up to his mouth for a drink. "I'd be excited to see her too" he teased.

Brian couldn't help but laugh, "dude, that girl is way out of your league" he replied.

Clay scoffed, "I bet I could seal the deal; besides, I need this distraction from how Jason Hayes hates me" he stated.

The boys made their way over to the girls with confidence. Grace and Mia were laughing to themselves when they noticed two guys making their way over to them.

"Well, it looks like we have some brave suitors coming to try their luck" Grace said as she nudged her head over her shoulder.

Mia smiled as she took a sip of her seltzer water, trying to act normal.

"Excuse us ladies, my friend Brian and I just wanted to come over and say hi" Clay said.

The girls turned in their seats to look them over. They couldn't help but smile and nod, especially Grace, who spoke up, "hi there, I'm Grace and this is my friend Mia" she greeted.

Clay smiled and put his hand out for her to shake, "hi, I'm Clay" he introduced himself.

Mia smiled and shook his hand, "Mia" she replied.

"Nice to meet you ladies, what are we celebrating over here?" Brian asked.

Grace wrapped her arm around her best friends' shoulders, kissing her cheek, "my bestie just got here, and we are celebrating her homecoming" she replied.

Brian smiled, "Nice, how about we join the party. Let me buy the next round of drinks" he suggested.

Mia scoffed, "what year do you think this is? We can buy our own drinks, thanks" she stated.

Clay smirked, "oh, come on, I think my friend was just trying to be nice. Besides, even in 2022 a guy can buy a girl a drink to let her know she's pretty" he stepped in to defend his friend.

Mia turned her attention to Clay. "You weren't the one offering to buy us a drink, which leads me to believe, based on your logic, that your friend Brian here was trying to buy us both a drink, pitting us against each other and breaking up our friendship because he thinks we are both pretty, right?" she inferred overdramatically.

Clay's smirk intensified while Brian and Grace looked between each other and their friends knowingly. "That's because you didn't give me a chance to step up to the plate yet" he replied.

She quirked and eyebrow as she took a sip of her seltzer. "You know I had a patient that once said that if you take to long to step up to the plate, your gunning for a missed opportunity to strike" she stated.

Clay smiled as he leaned in next to her on the bar, close enough to catch the whiff of vanilla and cinnamon. "Patients? So you're a doctor then?" he asked.

Mia smirked and she took another sip of her seltzer, "so he does pay attention" she teased over her drink, trying to avoid the obvious 'go for it girl' look in Grace's eyes.

"It's part of my job description" he replied.

As they were talking, they didn't notice that Grace and Brian were no longer at the bar with them, until Mia stopped to look at her phone for the time.

They had been talking for three hours of different and random things about each other. Clay told her he was in the Navy, she told him that she was a doctor who just got a job on base. It was really easy to talk to Clay.

"I am sorry, I really have to get home" she said.

"Can I see you again?" he asked.

Mia smiled on a breath, "I don't know. My family is kind of going through a lot right now and I don't have time for a relationship" she said.

"Then I want to make the most of the night, can I walk you out? Do you want to go for coffee or something? I would like to continue the night" he replied.

Before Mia could reply, Grace stepped in and pulled her to the side. "Excuse us for a minute" she said pulling her friend to the side of the bar.

"Mia this is your one chance to let loose and be free before you get boggled down with family stuff. Take a ride on the wild side for once" she tried to convince her friend.

Mia sighed and looked back at the guys, who were standing at the bar waiting for her. "Gracie, you have no idea how much I want to, but that isn't like me. I am not doing a wham bam thank you on him. I can't" she replied.

Grace smiled and wrapped her arm around her friend, "well then at least go back to your apartment or a coffee shop and make out or something before you have to go" she stated.

Mia laughed and wrapped her friend in a hug as they got back to the boys. "Okay so here is the deal, I usually don't do this, but I don't want this night to end either" she said.

Clay nodded with a smile, "okay great, follow me back to my apartment. We can grab a night cap" he replied.

Mia followed Clay back to his apartment and just sat in her car for a second taking a breath, gathering the courage to get out.

She looked out the windshield to see Clay standing there waiting for her. She got out and smiled, nervously playing with her hair, pulling it behind her ears.

As they walked into his apartment, Mia looked around and noticed that it was very much a bachelor pad.

"Do you want a drink?" he asked.

"Just a water please" she replied.

He handed her a bottle of water and joined her on the couch. "So, you said you don't usually do this" he said.

She laughed and nodded, "yeah, out of the two of us, Grace is more forward" she replied.

He nodded, "I can see that for some reason" he stated, causing her to laugh.

He turned to her and tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear, "there isn't anything that will happen that you aren't in control of okay" he said trying to calm her fears and nervousness.

She put her drink down and nodded really looking at him.

He kept her gaze as he leant down so his nose brushed against the soft spot behind her ear, breathing in the sweet scent of vanilla lingering on her skin. She sucked in a breath as he trailed the tip of his nose along the fluttering vein running along the side of her neck.

He was trying to take things slow so he didn't scare her.

He trailed butterfly-soft kisses down the side of her neck that had her pushing against the hard muscles of his stomach. She needed something to ground her and keep her from passing out. It has been so long for her.

Emma was arguing with her dad, who was leaning against the island with a cup of coffee in his hand, the other hand rubbing at his temples.

"Em, can we talk about this after my cup of coffee?" he asked.

Mia smiled as she heard them arguing. "How about I help?" she announced her presence.

They both turned to her, "Aunt Mia" Emma called dropping the ladle and running to greet her aunt.

"Hi Emma" she greeted her aunt with a hug.

"What are you doing here Mia?" Jason asked turning to his sister.

Mia smiled at her brother. She knew this was coming. "Hi to you to Jase, it is nice to see you too" she said reaching over to greet her brother with a hug.

He hugged her back, "hi Mims, its nice to see you. Now do you want to tell me what you are doing here" he mocked.

"I accepted a job at the base hospital and have a house a couple block away from here. I am going to help you out while you are spun up" she explained.

"Mia, I don't want you ruining your life to me. You are set in New York" he argued.

"I don't even want to hear it. Everything is already set, so get used to seeing more of me" she said, wrapping her arm around Emma who was smiling.

"Now, let's go get breakfast together" she led them into the kitchen.

The Hayes family was glad that Mia was back and in their lives. They missed her and were glad that she was back home to help them.

"So, what are we bringing to the BBQ? It's at Ray's house, right?" she asked.

Jason nodded, "yeah, I think Emma was going to make pasta salad or something" he replied.

"I'll take care of that, don't worry about it okay" Mia stated.

It was easy for Mia to fall in and take care of everything. Emma and Mikey were able to be kids and hang out with their friends while Mia made some pasta and potato salad.

She was excited to see everyone. No one knew she was back, so it was going to be a big surprise.

The party was already in full swing when the Hayes arrived. Jason and the kids walked into the backyard with Mia following behind them.

"Hey, where's Jase and the kids?" Trent asked Ray.

"They should be coming soon, Jase said he was on his way" he replied.

It wasn't long after that did, they walk into the yard. "It's about time" Ray teased as everyone came over to greet their boss.

"Hey man, what took you so long?" he asked.

"Well, I had a little surprise this morning" Jason said as he looked to the kitchen doorway to see Naima hugging his sister.

Ray looked at Jason in surprise, "Mia's back?" he asked.

Jason grabbed a beer and nodded, "yeah, showed up this morning" he informed.

"Hey guys" she greeted as she walked out with Naima.

"Dr. Sunshine" Sonny teased as he greeted her with a hug.

Everyone made their way over with a hug, "we are glad you're back. You staying for good now?" Ray asked.

She smiled and nodded, "yeah, I actually got a job at the base hospital, so you guys are going to be seeing a lot more of me" she informed everyone.

Before anyone could say anything else, Mia froze, hearing a voice she never thought she would hear again.

"Hey guys, sorry I am late" Clay replied as he walked through the doors into the backyard.

He stopped short when he saw Mia standing there with Ray and the rest of his team. Jason came over and wrapped his arm around his sister's shoulders.

"Mia, I would like to introduce you to Bravo's newest rookie, Clay Spenser. Spenser, this is my little sister, Dr. Mia Hayes" he introduced them.

The two couldn't help but just stare at each other. It was Clay who broke first, "hi, it's nice to meet you" he greeted.

Mia smiled and nodded, "nice to meet you too" she shook his hand, snapping her gaze back to his as the electric current sparked from his hand to hers.

The rest of the BBQ was awkward. They tried to avoid each other. It wasn't until they got stuck in the kitchen at the island making themselves plates of food.

"So, you are Jason Hayes little sister?" he asked.

She looked over at him as she piled the salad on her plate and nodded, "yes I am" she replied.

"Bravo One's sister?" he repeated.

"Yes" she repeated with an amused look.

He smirked, "sorry, it's just I never thought I would see you again, let alone find out that I slept with my boss's sister" he replied.

She laughed, "Shshsh" she put her finger to her lips to silence him.

"Sorry, I just, it was one of the best experiences I've had in a long time and I would like to do it again, but it's hard to wrap my head around the fact that…" he started, "I am your boss's sister" she finished for him.

He looked at her sheepishly, "yeah, I am sorry" he replied.

She shook her head, "don't worry about it. Let's just call it what it was. A night of passion that will forever be in our hearts, but just that a night" she stated.

He nodded and let out a breath of relief, "yeah, that would be really good. I don't want Jason to kill me when he finds out" he informed her.

She laughed and nodded, putting her hand out, "hi I'm Mia Hayes" she started over.

He smiled and shook her hand, "Hi Mia, I'm Clay Spencer, nice to meet you" he replied.

Two Months later…

It was actually pretty easy for Mia to step in and take control of the situation that her brother left. Emma was struggling and was glad for her aunts help in things. The girls easy got a routine going taking care of the household/family stuff, so Jason could just worry about BRAVO.

Everyone noticed the difference in their boss on base. He was more focused, less stressed and sporadic.

Sonny dropped down on his bench in his cage after a grueling training exercise that Jason put them through.

"What the hell was all that? Where'd Jay get the energy for that?" he grumbled as he chugged water.

Ray chuckled tiredly as he chugged another bottle of water. "It's because Mia is home, and we all know that she runs a pretty tight ship" he stated.

Before anyone could say anything else, there was a knock on the door. "Is everyone descent?" Mia walked in with her eyes closed.

They all laughed, "yeah we are good here Dr. Sunshine" Sonny stated.

Mia opened her eyes and smiled at all of them, putting a container of cookies on the table, laughing when they all jumped in.

Mia looked around the room and noticed that Clay was missing. "Hey, where's Spenser? I have to talk to him about some medical stuff" she asked.

"Right here? Everything okay?" he replied walking in with a towel around his waist.

Mia froze for a second, taking in his naked upper half. She couldn't help but let her eyes rake over his body, taking in this water droplets, following them trail down his abs to the knot at his waist.

"Um, yeah, just need to update your file" she stated.

He nodded, "sure, I'll be out in just a second" he replied.

She nodded and turned, waiting for him to get dressed while she scrolled on her phone, pacing the cage room as the guys walked out to give her some privacy.

A couple minutes later, he walked out of his cage pulling on a shirt to find her pacing. "Hey, you okay?" he asked.

She stopped pacing and walked over to him, playing with her hands, wringing her fingers. She was really nervous. She didn't know how to tell him this.

"Hey, um, I am sorry, I really need to talk to you" she said.

He nodded, "yeah, what did you need for my file. Everything should be up to date, if not, Trent knows my history" he replied.

She smiled nervously, "Um, no, that's not what I really wanted to talk to you about. I just said that in front of the guys. There is something that I have to tell you and I want you to know that I am really sorry, I never meant for it to happen" she tried to explain.

He looked at her nervously. He was worried if everything was really okay. "Sure, what's going on? Whatever it is, you know that I will try to help you if I can" he said.

She dug into the back pocket of her jeans and pulled out a pregnancy test and handed it to him.

He just looked at her surprised before taking the test and looking at it for a long time before looking back up at her.

"Is this for real?" he asked.

She was on the verge of tears, nodding, "yeah, I took it last night. I am sorry. I don't want you to be obligated for anything, I just thought that you had the right to know" she replied tears rolling down her cheeks.

He pulled her into a hug and squeezed her tight. "I know that we never got into our family history, but I never thought this would happen. My dad and mom abandoned me, and I never really had a family, not until I made it to BRAVO" he pulled away, cupping her cheeks, wiping her tears, "this baby is part of my family, and I am going to be there for it and for you, whatever you need" he replied.

"Are you sure? I don't want to force you or pressure you into anything" she said.

He shook his head, "no, I want this. I may not have envisioned it happening this way, but that doesn't stop the fact that I want this" he reassured her.

She smiled and nodded, "okay, then we do this together" she replied.

He nodded and kissed the top of her head, "together" he agreed.
