Chapter One

"Okay, let me get this straight. You want to leave and go where?" A calm voice spoke.
"Republic City. Where all the action is! Maybe you can pick up dance classes there!" Another voice spoke.
"Korra, I don't know. It sounds dangerous." The first voice spoke.
"Come on Alessia, I already spoke to Tenzin. He said we have a good chance of getting in! Besides, if not, he said he can house us while I learn air bending." Korra spoke as Alessia was deep in thought. She never thought of going to the city. They were however bound to this compound for a long time.
"Maybe we should go. I'm tired of being here. I want to go out and learn! I can only do so much out here." Alessia decided that they should go.
"Yes! We leave tonight!" Korra jumped up and dashed around the room.
"Well. At least I'll be able to use my bending. I'm pretty rocky at it." Alessia added as she started packing.
"Ha! I see what you did there." Korra chuckled with a smile. "Besides, we are adults. Not children. It's time they see that." The hyper one spoke. "Look, you will be able to find a teacher there too. The university is full of them! I might take some up as well. Though, Tenzin is the only air bending master sadly." Korra added as she finished her bag.
"People are gonna ask us questions, you know. How an earth bender grew up in the South and sister to the avatar." Alessia spoke while sitting on her bed. They shared a room. It was small but at least it was home. At least to Korra it was. Alessia always felt odd and out of place. There were all water benders and Alessia is an earth bender.
"Let them ask. I'm not ashamed to be related to you! No matter what happens. You'll always be my sister." Korra smiled while pulling her sister into a hug. Alessia smiled and hugged back tightly. She went back to gathering her clothes and finished. Blue eyes met green and they left the room. Finally leaving their childhood home as they were off to the next part of their lives.

"I'll miss you both." Senna spoke while hugging both of the girls.
"We'll be okay!" Alessia assured their mother.
"Take care of each other." Tonraq spoke while hugging Korra and shaking Alessia's hand. She nodded her head with a small smile.
"Here, take this girls. Just in case." Senna gave Korra a small wallet.
"We can't accept this." Korra frowned.
"Please. We saved this up just for this." Tonraq spoke as Korra hugged them again.
Thank you." Alessia spoke while she linked her arm with Korra's while they turned and left. Heading towards the harbor.
"Come Naga!" The polar bear dog barked while running up behind them. Alessia smiled and grabbed the side of the saddle and hoisted herself up behind her. Hearing the sound of snow under Naga's paws as they arrived at the ship.
"Alrighty! Let's go!" Korra spoke. Alessia nodded and spoke to the captain.
"Two for Republic City please."
"And the dog?" The man raised a brow at her.
"Yes, Naga as well." She paid for an extra ticket before climbing aboard.
"ALL ABOARD!" The man spouted as the ship blared its horn. It began to move. Alessia felt the excitement finally pouring inside as her heart began to race. Feeling the cold air against her while the South was now leaving from her sight. Finally, she was getting out of this area. Wrapping the jacket around her body tightly with a smile again.
"Someone is happy." Korra spoke as Alessia nodded.
"Yes, maybe I can learn about my nation as well." Alessia spoke softly. She yearned to learn about the Earth Kingdom. About her roots on where she was born.
"Come on. Let's go inside." Korra spoke as her sister nodded and followed the blue eyed girl inside where it was warm. They wouldn't arrive until morning anyways, they definitely needed to get some rest. She followed Korra back to their room and sat down. It was a single bed. It didn't bother her since they were only there for one night. Alessia took off her coat and got into bed. Korra followed suit. Feeling the ship rock against the waves of the ocean was actually pretty soothing. She had fallen asleep rather quickly.

"Wake up! Alessia! We're here!" Korra was shaking Alessia awake.
"Okay okay, I'm up!" Alessia jumped out of bed and quickly changed her clothes. She was beaming from ear to ear. Her excitement was overwhelming now. Grabbing her bag and tossed it over her shoulder while dashing out. Korra is not far behind her. Seeing the city. It was huge! Tall buildings everywhere as airships flying around. Seeing sat-mobiles everywhere the eyes landed.
"You ready Alessia?" Korra asked as her sister beamed again.
"Ready!" Alessia said as the ship landed. The ramp finally went out and down as the sisters' arms linked while walking off the ship.
"Whoa! Metalbenders!" Alessia was in awe while looking up. Seeing the men in uniform using metal cables to move from ship to ship or building to building. It looked as if they were flying through the air. Alessia couldn't but smile at the sight hoping that her sub element would be metal or lava. If anything, she was ready to learn.
"Ah Korra! You finally arrived!" Tenzin's voice spoke out against the crowd of noise. "Alessia, I'm glad you came as well." The older man in orange and yellow robes walked up to them.
"Tenzin, good to see you." Korra spoke as she bowed. Alessia followed as well. Her eyes kept looking around the city.
"Come, we need to get you both settled in. You ladies will be living in the student dorms at the university." Tenzin spoke.
"Wait! We get to go?" Alessia asked as her eyes went wide.
"Yes, as soon as the Dean heard that the avatar and her sister were coming, he couldn't refuse getting you both in. The year is only a week in so you'll both have to play catch up." Tenzin explained. "Pema is taking you ladies shopping for some clothes assuming you'll need something to represent your element." He spoke while looking at Alessia.
"Hey!" Was all she could say before laughing lightly. He wasn't wrong. Water didn't exactly represent earth.
"There will be an entrance exam for your bending. It's not a test, it's to see what element you bend or if you are a non bender." Tenzin added as they made their way through the crowd of people. Arriving at a smaller dock. "Drop your bags here, this is Pema" He introduced a smaller woman who had a large stomach. She is with a child. Alessia smiled and bowed to the lady.
"Honor to meet you." Korra bowed as well.
"No need ladies! It's nice to meet you both!" Pema smiled and grabbed their hands to give it a squeeze. "Come! We have a lot to cover today before tomorrow!" Pema beamed while Tenzin nodded.
"See you three at home for dinner." Tenzin spoke as the ladies left. Waving their goodbyes for now.

"What do you think?" Alessia asked as she stepped out of the changing room. She was wearing ankle high dark green slacks, a silky fare dress up shirt with a cover shirt. Dark green flats.
"Definitely earth style. Not your style though. At least not those pants." Korra laughed. Alessia rolled her eyes.
"I don't know anything about the Earth Kingdom though!" She frowned and sighed. Crossing her arms while going back to the clothes section in the shop.
"Maybe I can help you dear." The gentle voice of a woman made Alessia. She saw an older woman a bit taller than her. The woman was in green attire and definitely in earth style.
"Please? I know absolutely nothing about my nation." Alessia frowned looking at the woman. "I'm Alessia." She held out her hand.
"I'm Suyin, you can call me Su. I'm curious, how come you don't know anything about the Earth Kingdom?" The woman spoke. Her voice was calm and gentle. Alessia couldn't help but feel so calm around this woman.
"I grew up in the south. You see that girl over there." Alessia nodded towards Korra.
"Ah, the avatar."
"Yeah, she's my sister. Same mom, different dads. Dad is earth nation, mother water." Alessia explained.
"Ah, I see. Well here. I think this will look good on you." Su spoke while handing Alessia a long pair of dark green slacks. Alessia bowed, thanking the woman before leaving. Wondering if she would ever meet the older woman again. They had finally gotten some clothes before heading out. Alessia and Korra were in deep conversation before hearing police sirens. A police chase was happening.
"Watch out!" A voice shouted. Alessia, Korra, and Peman all dodged out of the way as a metalbender ripped off the tire from the car. Causing it to crash near them.
"Everyone alright?" A woman's voice spoke out.
"Yeah!" Korra spoke.
"Ah ladies, this is our Chief of Police. Lin Beifong. Also a professor at the university!" Pema introduced them.
"What's the avatar doing in my city?" The chief snapped.
"Going to university." Pema smiled at the older woman. Alessia studied the look of the police woman. She almost looks exactly like the woman she met earlier. Though this woman before them was taller. Two scars upon her right cheek. The green eyes found her as Alessia quickly looked away with embarrassment. She didn't mean to stare.
"Hope she isn't in my classes. I've had enough of trouble." The woman barked before arresting the driver and taking her leave. Alessia was laughing.
"What's so funny?" Korra rounded on her sister.
"She already got you figured out!" Alessia added as they made their way to Air Temple Island.
"Yeah right." Korra spoke while rolling her eyes.

"Pema, this food is delicious. Thank you!" Alessia spoke while eating the noodles. They were so good! The air bender kids were all shouting and talking to each other. Meelo, Ikki, and Jinora. She had finally put a face to the names. She didn't get to meet them like Korra did. She had a soft spot for Jinora. The young girl was wise beyond her age. Dinner was a good meal. Talking with everyone had made Alessia smile. Being around more people would hopefully increase her social side. Once everyone was done, Alessia had volunteered to help Pema do the dishes. Humming softly while drying the dishes off to put them away.
"Thank you Alessia. You should go get some rest. Big day tomorrow!" Pema spoke with a smile. Alessia nodded and bowed before taking her leave. She was too excited to be sleeping. Knocking on Korra's door. Watching it open, seeing the blue eyes while smiling.
"Hey, come in." Korra spoke as her sister walked into the room. "Excited? I'm nervous." Korra explained as Alessia nodded her head.
"I can understand. Though, this will definitely help you become a great avatar! Not to mention, you won't be doing it alone." Korra nodded and sighed in relief. "Hey, I'll be there too! You at least will know one person!" Alessia added while gently nudging her sister. She knew Korra had a lot on her shoulders right now.
"Hey, it's going to be okay. You're not alone." Alessia added while gently squeezing Korra's shoulder. Her sister smiled at her with another nod.
"I'm gonna get some rest. You should too." Korra spoke.
"Nah, I wanna go dance a little bit." Alessia smiled as she pulled out her small music player.
"I bet there are dancers there at the university. I'd love to see you part of it. That's who you are. A dancer." Korra was encouraging Alessia. She shrugged and turned to leave.
"Goodnight Korra." She spoke before closing the door.

Alessia had her headphones in while listening to the music. She closed her eyes to focus on the beats. Swaying her hips before moving her feet. The feeling she would get would free herself from her surroundings. She moved to the beat of the music with a smile on her face. Breaking a light sweat the longer she went on. Stopping and sighed. Pulling out one of the ear pieces. Laying her head back to let the moon bathe against her skin. Smiling non stop.
"Looks like you're having fun." The voice of Jinora made her jump.
"Yeah. It's something I enjoy doing in my free time." Alessia spoke softly before walking over to the younger girl and sat down.
"Are you excited?" Jinora asked as she nodded her head.
"I am. Very. I'm also kind of worried. I've never been in an area with so many people. What if I mess up or do something?" Alessia spoke while sighing.
"Hey, you'll be fine!" Jinora smiled while standing up. "We should also get to bed before my father finds us." The girl added before she pulled out her glider and flew up to her room. Alessia smiled as she watched the girl go before she found her feet leading her back to her room. Tomorrow was a day she was looking forward to. Her heart was racing already at the thoughts.
"Here is to make my own mark on this world." Alessia spoke before turning in for sleep.
