Update section coming your way! SO THEN! There've been a number of things happening with me that've shaken up my schedule. I recently got caught up in traveling across like THREE States for my significant other, and if it weren't for this one set of snack machines at this one break center, i dont know how we would've made it. Shit had a coffee machine, candy machine, ice cream machine, soda machine, all in one spot! How nuts is that!? ^o^ Anyway, i also got myself a second job, which'll hopefully replace this first one, especially since they mostly treat me better and shit. Only thing is that their schedules are all over the place and you gotta grab a shift like it's on some Monster Hunter (not that i play that), Hyperdimension Neptunia-type of shit (which i have plans for much later), but all that is done online, which for the longest for me, the service is very inconsistent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it dont. I'll give it another week before i decide on quitting that first place.
Alright, boring irl stuffs out of the way, a bit about this chapter. Im still kinda ironing out the caveats of the Quirk as the reader, same for the main Villain's, but im ironically further ahead in detailing his Quirk. The creative process here was a bit trickier than anticipated, seeing how im trying to have very few, yet big advantages off the bat, so rn it's a bit funny to look at on paper, but it's likely to change down the line. Of course. Bravy's is way more str8 forward, and i thought of wanting that, but i ended up with this. Hope yall find this Villain dood to be pretty intriguing too. The beginning is a bit on the rough side, but seeing how shit ended out for her, it would go in this direction. OH and cant forget, im all caught up with the manga!...Which is somewhat good, seeing how THEY'RE STILL FIGHTING SHIGARAKI! So this is assuming Deku comes out of that fight essentially fine with everyone else, so that's why things are the way they is. If not quite, let's just say this is right after Season 4 and call it a day there. Also lemme say that i initially wanted to say "Yeah yeah sorry this isnt on a Main Character" but seeing how this had 8 upvotes before it showed any views and seeing how this got over 100 views (then 13 upvotes) after two days was beyond what i expected, so happy to see everyone's actually excited for this! ^ ^ At any rate, let's sulk and perv out together.
Chapter 1: Love Between In-Betweeners
The room was littered with trash, more than before. Dozens of filling trash bags at one corner, and a pile in the other. Day in and day out, she sat at her monitor in darkness, ever wanting. A hole in her heart grew and swelled, contorting even. When was the last time she bathed? No one knows. The little lady had lost faith in all forms of love. In her mind, all that's fated for her was simply exist. Manami found herself trying to chat away with many strangers online on ChatAndMeet, just to pass time. "(TigerCrash...Nothing...DabYung...Nothing...He's gone too..)" she ponders, deciding to call it a day, "(If no one wants to talk then...) *lays backwards, staring up into the ceiling, barely able to see through the abyss above* (Why...Why is it...So hard to find anyone to talk to?...Am I...Just not interesting enough?...) *tears up* (I cant even...Get anyone to talk to...*hic* I should just sleep...And never wake up!)" she thought to herself, sleeping for the rest of the day. It was 8:21pm at the time, and when she awoke, it was 11a.m...She finds herself very hurt, aching from the stomach. Manami remembers that she ordered some food hours ago, so she checked her doorstep. Once found, it was cold, with ants starting to crawl on it, making her rush to bring it inside. Thankfully no insect got in it and she puts the food into the microwave. "*watches it cook* (Gentle...If only I hadn't lost you...I wouldnt have to live like this...)" Manami further laments. She came back to the screen, seeing only one reply from a user, but she turns a blind eye to it, figuring it'd be some guy asking for an E-RP with her. At the end of the day, Manami found a chatroom. She tries to talk in it after watching people converse for an hour, but is ignored. After looking at a few more, it was all the same, resulting in her being ignored for 10 hours straight. However, she didnt know that much time passed due to eventually slumbering in the midst of all that. Manami decides to return to her message inbox, seeing no one but the one user from before that's listed as Unread. "*clicks on the message* (He sent two more?...Wouldnt hurt to-) *sees another message pop up from the user* (H-he sent another?) *clicks it* ('I rather apologize in person than on here. IF that's too much, I'll leave you alone..'? Y-yeah, that's too much. We didnt even talk once /./)" she thought to herself, sending pretty much what she just thought to that person. She waited for a few minutes and got a reply, reading: "Oh, well we can always start now. Im tired but I'll stay on as long as I can for you". Unfazed and though marginal, Manami began conversing with this curious user, by the name of YaoiFoxXX92. Their conversation lasted only for half an hour. Next day, 2 hours. Then 2 more from the day after that, with her interest growing in him gradually. Every time Manami came back to his username, she giggles more, little by little, til next thing she knew, she subconsciously puts on a smile when the two message each other.
"[Manami] I was wondering..."
"[YaoiFoxXX92] about what?"
"[Manami] U told me about meeting in-person before..A few days ago."
"[YaoiFoxXX92] I almost forgot. Didnt think you'd bring it back up."
"[Manami] Well if...I agreed, what time and place would you want me to meet you?"
"[YaoiFoxXX92] Hmm, if you can, let's go to the UA entrance in an hour."
"[Manami] ! (I've...That was when...) I'll try..."
"[YaoiFoxXX92] Just so you know it's me, I'll need your number and I'll give you mine."
"[Manami] Y-you will?...(No one's ever...Offered their number to me..) Ok...*sends number to him with a chatlog message* In case something happens..D-do you have a Quirk?"
"[YaoiFoxXX92] Hmmm...So far, I only know that I can change the temperature of whatever Im holding. It doesnt seem to work much on people...What's your's?"
"[Manami]...I'll tell you when we meet up.."
"[YaoiFoxXX92] No problem. The place is only 20 minutes away from me, so I'll just text you when I get there, k?"
"[Manami]...Alright.." she lastly messaged, putting on some not-pajamas and some shoes, sporting a black shirt before opening the door. However, when she went outside for no more than 5 minutes of coming close to people, her heart suddenly started racing and found it hard to breathe, even her sight was blurring up. She stood still for a moment before darting back to her home, unlocking the door and trips over a trash bag on the floor, scurrying under a set of covers. Manami was an emotional wreck for 40 minutes before really calming down. Her phone rings, and she sees the only text present in her phone, from the guy she was trying to meet, reading: "Hey, where're you? I got here 10 minutes ago and there's no one here", thusly she texts back: "Sorry...I really didnt feel good..Let's try tomorrow", and he replied, pretty much saying he's ok with that. Manami strokes her long, red hair, feeling shitty about holding him up like that. Finding it very worrying about how devastating it's been on her after just a few months of Gentle being locked up. She tilts to the side, and sleeps in that position. Noon arrives and she starts messaging while stuffing her face full of dumplings and noodles, til it hit 5pm, and they decided to try the plan again. This time, Manami found it slightly easier to go back out, through the crowds of people walking around. Any issues that were building inside, she muscled through them, and next thing she knew, the UA building was in sight. On the way there, Manami sees an odd abundance of web on a few buildings, garnering the attention of a handful of bystanders. She decides to think about it later and continues to trek forward. Remembering the first time she was close to the UA grounds, all she needs to do is take three more turns and she's at the place. However, on the last turn, she suddenly sees a net string across, from one end of the street to the other, making her fall backwards. "(W-where'd all these webs come from? Is a Villain coming?!) *looks up, seeing a man with a rocky mask on, colored yellow* (Is-Is he the Villain? I have to tell him about this!)" Manami thought to herself in fright, texting the guy she was supposed to meet, while crouched, turning away. Once she sees that the folks around her start to get webbed down, she turns around, seeing the guy above hover down with a cocoon in his hand, resembling a ballon, then decides to run away too. "! Trying to report me to the police eh? *shoots a string of webs from a fingertip, gets her leg, watching her crawl to an alley* Tch. Get her" said the Villain, tossing out a water , Manami sent updates on what is going on in her area to the online friend of her's. "Oh no, really?! Can you use your Quirk on him?" he texted back, "! It's...I cant! Not like this!" she said to herself, sending him that as a text a moment later, and once she did, she saw a rat, making her jump back. An emptied bottle lands on her head, making her wince and look up, then a long glob of water misses her as it raced across her face, catching and dragging the rat backwards in the process. Manami tries to run away, but the web around her ankle hardens, making her fall, and a woman made of water comes from the darkness, slowly walking to her as she feels her heart trying to explode out of her chest. "Im sure you're thinking..'What would some Villains want with me?'. Your money. We'd ask, but. *shoots a big glob out of an arm at Manami, covering her in a ball of water* Cant be too careful" she said to herself, a smile crawling on her face as Manami drowns. Unable to move, she loses consciousness. Once she opens her eyes, she finds herself strung up by a thin line of web, and excluding her head, still encased in the glob of water, along bigger webs that initially blocked her path, seeing the leading Villain gloating on the top set of webs. "Where're your Heroes now!? I can drain you all dry as much as I want, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. My partner, Yusao, and I, Kozaku, make the perfect team!" he says out loud, wading up clumps of money into a woven sphere next to him, "There he goes, getting a big head. He'll never learn. *sees a red, sphere-shaped glowing and flowing through the webs, coming very close to him* Kozaku, your feet!" Yusao urged, "Hu-" he reacts, an explosion happening below his feet, blowing him off of his platform to everyone's surprise. The burst was strong enough to cut Manami free and fall to the ground, having a rather soft landing from the water prison she was in, with the liquids immediately come off of her afterwards. "*lands on the ground, but falls, seeing blood come from feet* Ghn! Who did that?! *turns around seeing a guy that was on his back* It was you, wasnt it?! You were trying to act all heroic by stopping me!" Kozaku said, "I-I didnt know it was gonna do that at all! I-" I tried to excuse, "*sees Yusao drop down in front* Good, get rid of him, Yusao!" Kozaku commanded, "*sees her shoot a wad of water forward with one hand, slides to the left* (So she's made of water! In that case..Maybe..)" I started thinking, putting a hand behind my back, "*launches another water shot with the other arm, catching me* There, you cant escape. *sees him have a hand extended* ! (What's he doing?)" Yusao skeptically thought, "I cant escape? Well guess what. *sees a series of orbs travel through her body with the extended hand* Nor can you" I told her, "*sees the orbs flow out of her, noticing that they're red orbs as they come closer, clustering* ! W-what the hell're these?!" Kozaku reacts, being exploded on, making him flip backwards from it, "Kozaku! (It's his Quirk! He seems to be able to make explosive orbs from that hand!) *hears some cracking, turns head forward, seeing some freezing happening from the arm, traveling to the shoulder* ! You're- How're you freezing me?" Yusao asked in surprise, "With my Quirk, it lets me change the temperature whatever Im holding. Right now, behind my back, I have my whole palm on the water you're wrapping around me. If you really need to have contact on me, I think you'll be sorry. *sees it start to slowly freeze her head* (She's either resisting, or my Quirk isnt as good with one hand. Though...) Too late for you to let go while you could, so enjoy being an ice sculpture" I said to her, "*shakes, eventually closes an eye* Hmm. Well played" she admits before being completely frozen, falls over and breaks apparently. "*melts down the remainder of her ice around me with the other hand* I doubt that killed her. *sees the pieces of her jiggle on the ground* She'll be out for a while. *sees Kozaku slowly get up* I need to give him the leftovers treatment too" I said to myself, approaching him. "Arrrgggh..! *struggles to sit up but falls back down* (Im..Im getting hit real hard now..One more of those and it's over for me..) *sees me get close* (You bastard...!)" Kozaku thought to himself, flipping his palms upwards, unleashing an array of strings to plaster me, "! So many! *tries dodging most of them, but some get all over my arms, torso, legs and palms, holding me in place while standing* Dammit!" I cursed, struggling to get them off of me, "Hehehehe..! The more you struggle, the more my strings will tighten..There's nothing you can do now! *sees a red orb travel into one of the threads* Huh?" Kozaku reacts, "She was right..You dont learn, do you? *feeds more red orbs into the threads from one open hand* Tell the police I sent ya" I told him, causing him to explode a few times as he screams in pain, resulting in catching on fire as I fall backwards, still tangled by him. Seeing the whole thing, Manami calls up the police and they cleaned the mess that Kozaku and his partner caused. She then walks up to me. "H-hey...Are you from the site?" Manami asked, "Hmm? Who said that?" I asked, looking around, "...Down here.." she said, "*looks down* Oh wow, is that really you? I had no idea you'd be this short" I comment, "I..Often get that..*sees the bruises on my arms* ! Y-you got pretty hurt back there" Manami says, "Huh? *looks at arms and wrists. seeing them scuffed up* (Must've been from sliding and falling..) Dont worry about it. A few days and they'll be gone. *looks ahead* Hey UA is just up the street, so let's take this there" I remind her, and she nods. The two of us got to UA in no time, peacefully sitting at a nearby bench, close to it.
"Heroes didnt show up there, huh? I guess they aren't too reliable with All Might stepping down. Makes you wonder what happened to the whole 'Heroes always show up at the last minute' saying."
"Y-yeah..Really does..."
"Have you ever been saved by one?"
"Well...*thinks of the past with Gentle, puts on a slight smile* Only by one."
"One eh? I can only count so few for myself, but even then, it's been when others are involved. That can be fair, but I think it should be better than that."
"So uhh...H-how'd you get that name?"
"Oh that? Ugh...I came across alot of furry stuff online and it's usually gay posts, so I was like 'Ok, lemme make one based off that'. They...They really get bad."
" oh..."
"You said you were gonna tell me your Quirk, right? Whatcha got?"
"Its...Its useless.."
"So its one of those really conditional ones?"
"Y-yeah.."
"Well what is it? Dont tease me here ^^."
"Its...It's..Love."
"Huh, how does that work?"
"I can..Give someone a boost in power if I...L-Love them enough..The more, the better."
"Hey that can be handy! I could've-"
"But I can only use it once a day..."
"Oh o_o...So..You really wouldnt be able to help at all earlier?"
"Uh huh..."
"You look like you lost someone that broke up with her boyfriend too."
"...He got arrested.."
"O o W-why's that? *sees her look away* (Too soon eh?) Anyways uuuuhh..A-aren't you curious about how my Quirk pulled through back there?"
"I guess..*gets a noogie* Hahahaha, stop it! x}"
"Cmon shortcake, I might need some of that next time we get in a pinch. *lets her go, seeing her calm down from giggling* See? I knew you could smile. You look much better like that, yknow."
"*covers face with both palms* D-do I? /_/"
"Your hair's nice and long too."
"Y-yeah?"
"It'd look even better with some good combing ^^. Seems like forever since you stroked it out."
"Yeah...Ever since he was taken from me.."
"Dont let your hair lose it's luster now. Be a real shame. I'll help if I see any more loose ends, ok?"
"O..Ok.."
"(Man, losing her boyfriend must've done a number on her if she's this out of it.)"
"*sees my scuffs and bruises on arms* Sorry for...Dragging you into this..For those marks...If we got here yesterday..."
"Oh these? Dont sweat it, really. I kinda had to do all I could to make my approach hard as possible to piece together to beat 'em."
"Im surprised you could..Yknow...Beat both on your own.."
"Honestly, this was the best my Quirk ever performed. All because I thought of how temperature is in the air too. Having them transfer in orb form seemed much better than by contact. Dealing with someone that was made of water and another being some web slinger guy was just easy for me in alot of ways."
"(He adjusted how he'd normally use his Quirk so slightly..And he's way more effective from it..)"
"*looks ahead, seeing the sun go down* Oh boy it's starting to be night time. Dont wanna have to deal with some crazy Villain coming gotta nowhere, so catch ya around, k?" I said to her and walked off, as she did herself. On the way home, Manami thought back to how sweet the discussion was and brightened her mood a bit, gradually feeling like her past incident was smaller than she perceived. Stepping into her room, Manami cleaned in a few places before hopping onto her computer, going straight to her new friend. From here, we had a series of back-and-forths, talking about trivial things, like other sites and a handful of trends happening around them. After a few more days of them chatting, not only did she make it clear that she didnt want to go out to see me for bit longer, but Manami also couldnt help but to tell me something from her recent past.
"So...There's something I haven't told you before.."
"Oh really? What'd that be, short-stuff?"
"I...Used to be a partner...For a Villain.."
"W-WHAT NOW?!"
"D-dont be too upset, please! "
"What'd you two even do as Villains tho? What was his name?"
"I'll..Tell you his name later but...We did all we can to expose bad things in the society and...Broadcast them on the internet..I filmed for him.."
"That doesnt seem too villainous there. In fact, you two should've been looked up to."
"We get many dislikes on the videos...Sometimes there's robbing involved.."
"Oh...Yeah now I can see how people wont appreciate that. Yknow what..."
"Hmm?"
"I thought about being a Pro Hero by going to UA..But given what you told me, and how they haven't been doing well lately..I also dont like this law of not being able to use our Quirks in public unless we're Pros..So how about we do some snooping of our own?"
"! D-does that mean you'll be a Villain too?"
"No...We'll be the in-betweeners...I'll be a Pro-level Vigilante! You'll be one with me too!"
"I..I guess me and Gentle were close to that.."
"Oh so his name was Gentle?"
"F-forget I typed that, forget I typed that! "
"So then..Where'd this Gentle guy mess up?"
"...We...We could've kept up what we were doing..If he didnt get ahead of himself, and fought this UA student..Who was kind enough to exclude me out of the situation."
"Hmm...These UA students are really stepping up their game then. Not anyone can just pull you out of a spot like that...For a while then, no fighting them or Pros, just stick to the plan."
"I..Dont know where to start.."
"We'll get some training days down. In a place like this, there's always shady business waiting to happen, so the sooner the better."
"...Give me four more days.."
"I'll do some training on my own til then. Oh man, it's getting real late here. We'll pick this up later, k short-stuff?"
"...La Brava.."
"Huh?"
"That was my Villain name.."
"That's not bad! We'll get things moving in no time, La Brava!" I lastly told her, planting a seed of excitement inside her. For once in a long time, Manami is going to soon be able to use her Villain name and be put into action as a partner. Having some motivation surging, she was compelled enough to surf the net, thumbing through the many things everyone was talking about on the web, day in and day out...And there were indeed some fishy clues that were being discovered. A day before we were to meet again, a curious report broadcasted in her news feed. "Pros are now finding cases where a Hero is intervening in their battles with Villains, resulting in the death of the Villain in the process without a trace. Witnesses have narrowed the culprit down to three suspects, who all have said they've said they took no part in these acts of a Vigilante. These three have lost reputation, and will have their licenses revoked within a week if this continues" the reporter announces, "This is the third time this has happened..It all sounds planned, but with the information I have...It's only one of them" Manami says to herself, calling me, saying she wants me to come over tomorrow, opposed to meeting up somewhere. Tomorrow went by, and the news went silent on the issue that was prefaced yesterday, as Manami sat there to hear the broadcast out before it went into weather reports. Short-stuff hears knocking on her door, seeing that it was me. We greeted and I saw how her room was still pretty dirty, so I decided to clean around. I kept noticing her screen constantly showing news outlets and channels.
"You saw what they were saying about those incidents, weren't you?"
"Yeah...I went on forums, and they say it's 10 other Pros, but really, it can only be one.."
"Is that right? How do you know?"
"...I..Never told you but...Even before I worked with Gentle...I was a hacker.."
"o o! O-oh! That's really handy for us then. So hacking made it all easy, huh?"
"Mostly. Sometimes, I have to rely on a target's activity to get info out of them. Before I go into what I found, how was training for you?"
"I can make bigger orbs now, but Im having times where they dont work, and I haven't figured out why yet. One or two tricks are still in the testing phase."
"We'll see what you can do..Now then..As far as I've gathered, it is three people involved, but the two on the news are framed."
"Part of me suspected as much."
"When these incidents happen, it really looks like different Quirks were used each time. One time, there were alot of bystanders being turned into stripes before reforming. Another time, the ground erupted in several areas, and so on. There is one person at the center of all these cases."
"...Who'd that be?"
"A Pro Hero by the name of Genius Jockey."
"(Genius Jockey...It sounds familiar..I can only assume so much from that name.)"
"What is tricky is that sometimes in the Heroes database network, he's listed as Alpha Roku."
"So you hacked into his account and saw that sort of change?"
"Exactly, and he was at first at Rank 289. With him being ranked down even further to 480, it seems like his information is that much harder to keep track of."
"When you put it like that, it does make sense...Too much sense.."
"This really looks like it's all part of his plan. When I go into forums, he's one of those Heroes people talk about the least."
"What about his Quirk?"
"...Nothing.."
"(Well that's great. We dont know how to really stop him.)"
"I do have his two sidekicks listed though. *shows me the screen* Snake-eyes Mask: Anything his Dices are thrown at, excluding people, he can control them, and Goth Vespa: Her moths can create lines of explosions, while her bees can make them unseen."
"Tch, no wonder he picked them. They sound like they're hard to deal with. What'll we have to do from here?"
"I know where they are..But I dont think we're ready to face them."
"Actually..I think we can do something about one of 'em. UuU"
"A-are you sure? Which one?"
"Just show me where one is, and follow my lead."
"Well we're...Closest to this one..*points at the screen*"
"*looks closely, smiles* (Perfect!) I know that place too. It's decided, cmon! *runs out the door*"
"I-I hope you know what you're doing " Manami says, coming outside with me after dressing in her La Brava outfit. Before getting to our destination, Manami stops after seeing me turn into an alley on the way there, "*sees me come out with a black cloth around me, a striped white shirt underneath, and a cap similar to Shiketsu's* Huh? Who gave you that?" she asked, "You'll see. Keep following me" I told her. We ended up going to a big park with not much of people there. She sort of stood out like a sore thumb with that big black dress, but I remembered how she looked like when she came up on Manami's monitor. Feeling watched, she walked away from the area, and turned around, seeing no one, then turned back around, seeing me running from the side in front of her. "May I help you?" the lady asked, "Dont play coy with me. You're the Hero named Goth Vespa" I called out, "*looks away* I dont know who that is" she told me, "Look, the game's over. Either we do this the easy way or my way" I threaten, "(His approach..Does he really know?) *covers mouth with fan* What makes you think I am who you think I am?" she prefaced, "Does Genius Jockey ring a bell? *sees her brow twitch* Or should I say...Alpha?" I reply, "(So he does know!) *hops backwards* Pattern 5!" she said urgently, throwing her fan at me, which I catch, then it gets yanked forward by a string, pulling me forward as well while tripping me, then I see a wall of moths suddenly appear in front of me. Quickly I extended out my hand to make alot of ice orbs, trapping the cluster of her insects in them while freezing them over, but they detonate anyway, blowing me backwards. "*gasps, seeing me fall over* Are you ok!?" La Brava asked, seeing my hand get bloodied and bruised, "Dont worry about me! *sees Goth Vespa flying upwards as her dress inflates* ! (She must be using the invisible bees under her dress to fly up!) Get back down here!" I shouted, "This is a getaway, child. Better luck next ti- *shoulder gets blown up, falls to the side* GHAA! (But how?! I detonated all of those moths on him!) *sees a few frozen over by a spot of ice in front of me* (What's this? He threw one of the frozen ones at me? Bloody bastard..)" Goth Vespa thought in scorn, landing on her arms, with one giving out. "*sits up on one knee, picking up the rest of her frozen moths* I always wondered how you'd look as a popsicle" I said to her, "*slowly stands* (Beating him is going be challenging..But I can make this a draw..And I can take care of the girl too!) If you were betting on using your Quirk to best me..Then think again. Pattern 2!" Goth Vespa says, casting moths above me and La Brava, "Thing is...I wasnt betting on that -u" I reply, "What do you- *hears landing from behind and a loud BOOOOSH sound. looks behind, sees a bunch of blood rising with a man with the same getup as me standing there, turning off his beam sword* (My...Blood? Who is...)" she thought, falling over to the side. The moths disappeared, seconds from them touching me or Manami. "*rubs blood off of face with one stroke of the hand* Aaaah~ That felt good~! What she gets for comin' in on my turf" the rough-looking man comments, "Y-you...You know this guy?" La Brava asked, scared to see him, "You can say that. *hunches over* That's Hazama..Met him when I was training around here, and he's been helping me ever since. He's a dropout of Shiketsu and has been a gang leader for a while" I said with a grin, "He...Dropped in and took her out so fast..What's his Quirk?" she asked, "What's my Quirk? AAAAHAHAHA! Silly you think I have one. This laser katana is all I need~!" Hazama corrected, "You and that weapon...It must be really strong to deal with Quirk users with one cut like that. Thank y-" she comments, "Now wait there, missy! *sees her jump back* Remember our lil deal, boy? Get up" he said with a wide smile. Manami stood there confused, looking at me and him as I got up. "I didnt..Forget..*walks to La Brava, puts a hand on her head* Said you'd take me on after helping me out there" I said, "W-what?! B-but! Your arms are torn up!" Manami says worriedly, "Use it, short-stuff. Your Quirk" I told her, "Oh what's this!? You never told me your girlfriend there has a Quirk. Let's see it!"
