A Fateful Conversation
Yoda wasn't sure if he made the right decision but then he hasn't been sure of anything since The Clone Wars had begun. The Force was clouded, darkened by the evil of Lord Sideous. The name to a face finally connected, the Supreme Chancellor had enacted his dreadful Order 66 and the Jedi Order was on the brink of extinction. Extinction, or a rebirth? Yoda wasn't sure yet, though he did know one thing; Padme was key.
Senator Bail Organa had arranged secure transportation for Yoda through Coruscant to Senator Amidala's Suite. The powerful Senator now fully made aware of the connection between Sideous and Palpatine, and recognized how little time they had to stop it. When Yoda arrived to see Padme, the youthful Senator approached without fear or knowledge of what had happened, her brief innocence to it all refreshing to Yoda even if he would soon shatter that bubble.
"Master Yoda, what are you doing here?" She asked as she approached, and though he had long known of her pregnancy, Yoda feels it now. The connection in the force is strong with them. Them. Yoda almost stumbles as he shakes off the feeling.
"Need your help I do, Senator Amidala. Or the Republic will Fall." Yoda says solemnly, his small wooden staff touching down as she staggers for her seat. The good Senator has never known Yoda to lie or exaggerate.
"That can't be possible. What do you mean, what could I do?" She practically demands.
"Save Skywalker's life." Yoda says plainly and Padme's face goes white and her throat practically closes. "Tell me where Skywalker went, you must. Take me, you will. Tell you everything I know, I will." Yoda states, tapping his staff and Padme finds herself gulping.
"Save him from what? The Sith?" Padme asks, her voice practically breaking.
"From Sideous. From Vader." Yoda taps. "Like me, you and young master Skywalker has been deceived. Sideous controls this war. Know of the name we did, but not who it was, no." Yoda explains. "Then came Order 66. And Chancellor Palpatine made his face known, yes. He is Sideous."
"No. I can't believe that. Chancellor Palpatine has been a great ally of the people and against the war from the start!" Padme protests, almost ready to completely dismiss Yoda's claim.
"Deceived we were. All of us. First, to Skywalker we must go to save the Republic. Then, together, we must confront Sideous, yes." Yoda says, nodding and Padme looks at the little green jedi in disbelief.
"I-I… I don't want to believe you, Master Yoda. What you say is too horrible." Padme shakes her head.
"Horrible, yes. But not over, no. Save the ones we care about, we can." Yoda says, pointing twice towards Padme. The Senator can't tell due to his height, but it seems like he was pointing at her belly. Her left hand subconsciously moved to gently rub either side of it.
"Okay, Master Yoda. I'll take you to Anikan. He's on Mustafar, he told me he was ending the Clone Wars." Padme pleads, causing Yoda to nod.
"No. Not Skywalker. Ending the Clone Wars is Vader's task. Sideous's new apprentice. It is Vader we must save young Skywalker from." Yoda reiterates again, dismissing the end of the Clone Wars. The guise of the soldiers pulled over and the horrible, bloody truth laid bare; they were the Jedi's Executioners. Yoda sighed, a great feeling of sadness coming over the old jedi.
"Master Yoda?"
"Mm. Yes. Leave we must, far too many have died already." Yoda says and Padme nods, quickly donning a jacket and triggering her comm device. Seconds later, a familiar guard stands in the doorway.
"Yes, Senator" Captain Tyhpo asks, the Naboo Captain nodding to the Jedi Master.
"Prepare my ship, we're leaving for Mustafar immediately." Padme says and he nods, wasting no time and asking no other questions, the dutiful captain has the ship ready by the time that Yoda and Padme made it to the landing pad. There was sounds of blaster fire echoing through the lower streets of Coruscant that made Padme stop and look back. "I can't believe what's happening." She whispers before turning to Yoda and boarding the ship.
There are a few moments of tension as the ship departs. The planet is in complete blockade, surrounded by Venator-class star-ships. Typho calls up from the helm, warning that their ship is now being escorted by a pair of S-Wings while they do a registry check. Padme closes her eyes and tries to control her breathing until she hears Yoda's voice.
"Breathe. Eyes closed, deceive you, they do. Breathe. Open your mind, think not on where we are. Open yourself to the force, and find it in you, you will. Calm you, it can. Breathe." Yoda says, almost sounding like a lesson he might give a youngling that helps the Padme lower her heartrate as she opens her eyes.
"Thank you… Um, you said you were going to tell me everything you knew? We've got time." She asks a little bluntly, and Yoda nods.
"Yes, hard to believe, it is." Yoda sighs softly, Padme can tell he is barely keeping it together and hasn't told her hardly anything.
"Sideous used Dooku to make war. Dooku killed Master Sify-Dyas. Dooku ordered the Clone Army for us. Spread through the galaxy, the Clone Army is. Loyal to the Chancellor, they are. Now, Sideous will use Vader to kill the Separatist Leadership, then have total control, he will." Yoda explains, Padme shaking her head in disbelief, though curbing her protesting as Yoda continues. "Together, save Skywalker from Vader, we can. With Skywalker, we can defeat Sideous." Yoda finishes.
"Who is Vader?" Padme asks, though before Yoda can answer, Typho calls in from the helm.
"We've been cleared, but we've been ordered not to return to Coruscant until new Clearance Codes have been issued. Setting course for Mustafar, we should arrive within the week." Typho states.
"Catch up to Vader, we must. At least a day ahead of us, he is." Yoda responds.
"I'll try to push the engines." Typho replies and the comms click off.
Yoda turns to Padme and lets out a deep breathe. "Rest… I must. More to tell you later, I have." Yoda says, and then turns over in the chair he is in and Padme can see the jedi fall asleep almost instantly. It must've been days since he's slept, and he looks so drained of emotion and life. Padme recalls when she was Queen and she met the Jedi Master after Obi-Wan had successfully defeated Darth Maul and saved the Naboo. Yoda, Obi-Wan, even the Palpatine was happier back then… Was it him then too, how long had she been blind. Padme was afraid of the answer and let herself fall asleep too.
