Aliens were gaining an upper hand against G.U.N. soldiers, some of them definitely won't be going back home.
Maybe more men would share the fate, hadn't Sonic showed up giving aliens a beating with homing attacks.
A flying aliens was about to throw himself onto the hedgehog's head, but bullets hitting its body interrupted its intention.
As Sonic turns his look towards gunshot he grinned seeing his old buddy in the battle vehicle. "Hey, Tails, long time no see."
Miles Prower - the yellow fox with two tails causing his nickname. Tails returned the greetings and assessed the city's state "Look at all this destruction! Not even Eggman was capable doing THAT!"
Sonic doing an observation of his own says "Man, those black creatures really mean business, I sure hope people got evacuated to the safety."
The alien star-creature appeared in front of them and spoke "We've found 3 Chaos Emeralds in this city. Your interference will only delay the inevitable. Black Arms, our mission here is done! Get going!"
The remaining aliens jumped into their space ship a flew away in front of Sonic's eyes "Tails, I'll catch up with those aliens and finish what we've started! Meanwhile, see if you can collect the remaining Emeralds before they do!"
Tails transformed his vehicle into Tornado plane "Okay, Sonic!"
The duo parted ways for their respective goals.
Stage 02: Lethal Highway
Player Character: Sonic
Goal: Chase the alien's tank
Sonic's POV
Those creatures didn't spare my favourite highway track for running! Alright, this is getting personal!
I aimed my hooming attack for the bird-like vehicle, but its force field has deflected my attack. Very well If I can't smash that thing, guess I'll track it down to its destination at least.
The similar laser beams back in Westopolis, have reduced some parts of higway roads. Whenever there was road's jumping hill, I charged spindash for some big enough boost to get into the other side of the road.
If there wasn't, I had to go down the detour. Out there too, GUNS were trying to fend off those creatures. I might've risked losing their tank, but I couldn't just leave them to their fates.
The way formard is above, but I see no horizontal poles or rockets. My frustrations were answered with some apparition appearing in front of me it sounded with a somewhat familiar voice of an old man "This purple liguid space is connected with another. When you step on it, use spindash for transportation."
Following the instructions, I find myself on the upper part of higway and see the rail I could grind on.
While grinding I saw the alien's spaceship I thought I've lost. Whoever this apparition was, I should thank it for help, because I've was able to track the escapees into the city's borders with some jungles where I see another aliens' unit.
