Chapter 13- Afghanistan
The trucks with Bravo Team rolled through the streets of J-Bad to an empty rundown town, the guy's heads on a swivel.
Bravo got out of the trucks and got into formation in teams of two, surrounding the house and getting ready to move in.
Sonny cracked the door leading his team in as all hell broke loose.
Abdul Karim and Saddik were waiting for them. Like they knew their plan.
Even the women in the house were armed and shooting at Bravo.
Bullets were flying and sparks burned, causing Bravo to scatter and take cover.
They tried to take cover behind the walls, furniture, and anything that would give them cover.
"Ray, can you get to a high point? We need the advantage" Jason called over the COMMS.
"We are getting hit heavy Jase. We need some support" Ray replied.
"Where the hell is Spencer?" Sonny asked as they continued to fire at the enemy.
"What do you mean? Anyone have eyes on Spencer?" Jason growled.
He really tried not to panic.
All he could think about was his sister and his niece, how their life would be without him.
"This is Bravo 4; I haven't seen Bravo Six."
"Bravo 5 hasn't seen Spencer either."
They all replied to him.
As soon as everyone replied to Jason, he got on their air with Command.
"This is Bravo One to TOC" he called the Command Operations Center as he continued to defend himself.
"Bravo One, go for TOC" Blackburn replied as he paced the area behind Davis as she tried to process their satellite images and get their drone working.
"Do you have a visual of Bravo Six?" Jason asked TOC.
Jason sounded worried and panicked. He was more scared of losing Clay because of his sister's reaction.
He didn't want to be the bearer of bad news.
He was not making that phone call.
Jason sounded way too worried for Command's liking.
"We have no drone. No satellite. Where's Bravo Six?" Blackburn asked, leaning on the table, talking directly into the speaker.
"I don't know. We walked into an ambush, and he didn't answer the check-in on Comms" Jason replied.
"TOC for Bravo" Davis called over the Comms.
They were trying to find Clay and find out what was going on. With no eyes in the sky, Davis was flying blind, and she did not like the feeling.
"Bravo One" Jason answered.
"Bravo Two" Ray called.
"Bravo Three" Sonny added.
"Bravo Four" Trent said his name.
"Bravo Five" Brock called.
They all waited on bated breath for Clay to respond, but they didn't hear anything.
All they could all here was gunfire and yelling in Arabic.
"TOC for Bravo Six" Blackburn called over the COMMS again.
They needed to get eyes on Spencer. They needed to find the youngest member of the Team.
He was not going to let the first mission be the reason that they lost Clay.
"TOC for Bravo Six" Davis called again as she continued to try and get into Clay's Comms and start a connection.
The guys couldn't really hear anything but groaning and moaning.
"I'm down" they finally heard from Clay causing Jason to snap into action.
"We have to get him. Everyone start moving forward" Jason ordere d.
The Team started rushing towards the house.
Ray on point, taking out as many terrorists as he could to watch the guys back.
In the back of the house, Clay had been ambushed, fighting with one of the men in the house, before he felt pressure in his chest, causing him to fall over the stair banister and land with a thud on the ground.
Clay pressed a hand to his chest, holding his side as he tried to reach over and call the guys when he saw Saddik running at him.
He tried to lunge at Clay and stab with him with a knife as Clay tried to shove him and shake him off.
The combatant struggled under Clay, trying to bite him, stab him, kick him, do anything he could to get Clay off of him.
He elbowed Clay right in his bullet wound, causing Clay to gasp and stagger back, thudding against a wall, sagging down.
He didn't know how he was going to keep fighting, he could barely stand up or catch his breath.
Out of nowhere, he heard a bullet rip through the air and the combatant fell face forward.
Clay looked up and saw Bravo rushing through the room.
"Thank God" he sagged out of relief, all the adrenaline leaving him, causing him to see black.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;
Jason saw Clay first as he rushed into the room, his gun at the ready, having just shot their target.
"CLAY!" he shouted.
He could see the blood coming out of Clay's mouth as he walked around and cleared the room.
"TRENT GET OVER HERE!" Jason yelled, falling to his knees next to Clay.
Trent ran in and knelt down with his medical bag open next to Clay as he started examining this youngest team member.
"Jesus Christ" he whispered, "this is bad" he added.
Trent felt along his body, taking off his Kevlar vest and cutting through his uniform.
"He got shot in the chest. He definitely needs an x-ray and CT. He could have pneumothorax. I have to put in a chest tube. I think his lungs are damaged by a cracked rib" Trent informed everyone.
He got his supplies and started cutting through this friend's skin as he inserted a tube into Clay's chest.
Once the tube was secured to his chest, he looked up to Jason, "okay, let's move" he ordered.
The guys all gathered around and carefully picked up their friend and carried him to the jeep.
Bravo surrounded their friend as Sonny drove through the old, dilapidating city, racing towards their base.
"Bravo One to TOC, we are on our way back to base. Target 1 is KIA; Target 2 is captured. Get a medical team together" Jason called into Comms.
As they made their way to the base, Trent was in the back keeping Clay as stable as he could.
When they got to their base of operations, Jason and the guys jumped out of the jeep helping Trent transfer Clay to the gurney that the medical staff brought over.
"GSW to the chest, possible nicked lung due to a damaged rib, and pneumothorax. Had to insert a chest tube in the field. His VS have been stable so far…" Trent rattled off all the medical information to the medical staff as they ran with him to the hospital.
The guys were stopped outside the operating room as they pulled Clay in and started working on him.
"Trent, what the hell are his chances?" Jason asked.
Blackburn started pacing outside the room, talking to the physician about what they were going to do.
"He has a good chance. The chest tube gets all the pressure out of his chest, so it makes it easier for him to breathe. The CT should give a better picture of his lungs, which will determine treatment" Trent explained.
"He better be okay or Mia is really going to kick his ass" Sonny stated.
"She is going to kick my ass first" Jason added.
"Let's just pray that everything is okay, and you don't have to make that phone call" Ray replied.
"Ain't that the truth" Trent teased his boss.
They all knew that if Jason had to make that phone call, it was not going to be pretty.
"Should we talk to Stella? Do we call her?" Brock asked.
They all looked to Jason for his answer.
Jason just shook his head, "no, let's just wait to see what the doc is going to say and how he does after surgery" he replied.
"We'll take Clay's lead on that to see what he wants to do" he stated.
There was no way he was going to call Stella. She didn't understand their job as it is, he was not getting in the middle of that.
They all dropped their gear in the hallway and sat in the plastic chairs inside the hospital tent.
The guys had no intention of going anywhere until they found out how Clay was doing.
Bravo Team didn't move from outside the operating room for the couple hours it took for the doctor to come back out to tell them about Clay.
Major Thomas walked out of the operating room and down towards the hallway to the group of men.
He could see Bravo sitting and laying around the hallway waiting for news about Clay.
Being apart of a special ops team before, Major Thomas knew what it was like have that relationship of brotherhood and what it was like when one of his brothers was hurt.
Jason jumped up when he saw Major Thomas walking down the hallway. He saw him first.
"Major, how's he doing?" Jason asked.
Major Thomas sighed and nodded, "he is going to be fine. He has a fractured rib, and it nicked his lung, but the pneumothorax really hurt him, even though it was treated well with the chest tube. You reacted fast in the field, which helped save his lung. He is going to be fine, just down and out for at least 4-6 weeks" he informed them all.
Bravo all looked at each other and nodded, "don't worry Major Thomas. He is going to be fine. We'll keep him at base operations" Jason replied.
Major Thomas smirked, "I am sure he'll love that" he teased.
He knew what it was like and being down and out was going to suck.
The guys all laughed and nodded in understanding what Clay's reaction was going to be.
"He'll be up for visitors in a few minutes, why don't you all follow me. If you have any questions or concerns, just let me know" he replied.
Jason nodded and shook the doctor's hand. "I appreciate that Major" he stated as they were led down the hall to Clay's room.
He was just beyond happy that he didn't have to make the phone call home to his sister that something bad had happened to Clay.
When they got Clay settled into a cot in the infirmary building, the guys all gathered around him.
The heart monitor beeping in the background as the guys settled in waiting for Clay to wake up.
Clay's brow started to furrow as his face scrunched. He felt like there was an elephant sitting on his chest.
"Hey kid, nice seein' ya" Sonny greeted him with a smile on his face.
"How are you feeling Clay?" Jason asked.
"Like a fucking kebab. I feel like an elephant is sitting on my chest" he moved his hand down his body to feel the bandages.
Ray took his hands from his bandages and put them on his sides, giving him the button for his pain meds.
Clay pressed the button for pain meds, turning to look at Jason. "Did you call Mia?" he asked.
The guys looked at each other with knowing smirks.
That answered their question about telling Stella. Clay didn't even think about her in his time of need.
Jason shook his head, "no, we haven't even cleaned up yet. Mandy and the Marines took the prisoner so we could just follow you here from town" Jason informed him.
Clay nodded, groaning, reaching up to hold his head. "Don't. I don't want her to worry" he replied.
Jason squeezed his shoulder, "don't worry about that. You just worry about getting better" Jason said.
He knew he was going to have to tell Mia what happened, even if there was nothing she could do.
With Clay out of commission, Command thought it was a good idea for him to stay at base camp and help with the research, interrogations, and Davis on the communications.
It was hard for Clay to watch his team come and go on different missions.
He had a hard time staying back while the Team put themselves in danger. The one good thing was that he was able to learn more about tech and help Davis.
On the rare occasion the guys had a free night for the time being, the guys were able to chill and rest a little.
One night in particular stuck out because it gave all the guys time to relax and regroup.
Davis was going over gear and the equipment, Trent was laying on a lounge chair reading, Ray was helping Sonny set up the bar, Jason was playing with Pepper while Brock got her bowl of food ready.
He was planning on setting up an obstacle course for her to train some more since she was still relatively new to the team.
The guys had already been there close to a month and were running themselves ragged.
It seemed like they were running in and out of camp on missions every five seconds, they barely had time to breathe, let alone rest.
They were going to take every advantage of their free time.
"Have you heard from home?" Jason asked Clay.
The younger member shook his head. "No, I am planning on calling Stella and check-in with Mia afterwards. I know she had an appointment last week to check on her test results and figure out what the hell was going on" he explained.
"It can take that long? Damn, the Princess had those done before we left for this shithole" Sonny questioned.
Clay scoffed, "you are asking the wrong person Son" he teased.
He had no idea. He just knew what Mia was telling him and even that wasn't always everything.
That's when all the guys turned to Trent.
He sighed, not even looking up from his book before answering, "it depends on the test and where they sent the test to determine the results. But if they sent it to an outside lab, then that means either the hospital wasn't equipped to handle the test, or they needed a second opinion about something" he explained.
"It can be that serious?" Sonny asked.
"I am not sure. That is just how things go sometimes in the medical field" Trent replied.
"It was something from her OB that they found during her annual check-up. Grace was the one who ordered the lab tests and other stuff with Tess" Clay stated.
Now he was worried. If it was something serious, that meant she had been dealing with it for a while and she didn't tell him or anyone.
That was not what they agreed on when they developed their little make-shift family.
They made a pact at the beginning of their relationship to always be there for each other no matter what.
The guys shuddered at the thought. "She told you that?" Jason asked, looking up from petting Pepper.
Clay sighed and shook his head, "no, Grace told me that. Mia keeps telling me that everything is fine and not to worry, which is making me worry more" he replied.
Jason nodded with a knowing smirk. That sounded exactly like his sister.
She thought of everyone else first before herself. Even if there was something really wrong, she wouldn't tell them.
It's why she left her job and life in New York, to move down to Virginia to help him when Alanna died.
She wanted to be there for her family, and she made it happen.
Besides, in all the letters he was getting from Emma and Mia, they made it seem like everything was good at home.
Mia was thrilled at work with her new Trauma program, Emma was doing great in her music and theatre program, Mikey was excelling in hockey.
The kids were helping her with Ally and juggling their activities after school.
Everyone was thriving.
Clay got up, "okay well, I am going to solve all of this now. Give me some time in the bunkhouse alone. I need to get to the bottom of this and coerce Mia into telling me the truth" he said.
The guys started laughing, Jason calling out after him, "good luck with that."
He knew his sister and if she didn't want Clay to know something, he wouldn't.
"I am going to call Stella and then talk to Mia" Clay added as he went to the bunkroom and pulled open the laptop.
Pulling up the Skype app, he called Stella first.
Stella was at her apartment, grading papers and working on her lesson plan when she saw the notification for a Skype call from Clay.
She immediately accepted the call and greeted him with a smile.
"Hi Babe, how are you doing?" she asked.
She was glad he called her. Stella kept writing him letters but she barely got a reply.
It was hard for her to get used to the military life, and since she didn't get along with the wives, she was on her own.
Clay smiled at her, "hi, we are doing good. It is actually our first night free. We are all just hanging out. How are you doing honey? How are your parents, are they still there?" he replied.
In a recent letter he got from her, she told him that her parents were coming down for a gala dinner for a friend of theirs.
"I am doing okay. Busy getting ready for mid-terms in school. I am actually grading papers right now. Yeah babe, my parents are still here. They are going to the Dean's retirement dinner this weekend. We are sending him off and welcoming the new Dean at the same time" she explained.
Her parents were still on her case about being with a SEAL, especially one with a baby already.
Clay had extra baggage and he was not in the right social class for Stella in their opinion.
"That's good honey. I am glad they are having fun and enjoying themselves. Are you going to go with them?" he asked.
"I am not sure. I have to get my lesson plans ready and get ready for midterms. My mom wants me to go, but I am pretty sure they just want me to go because they are trying to set me up with a son of one of their friends" she replied.
She tried to tell her parents that she was happy with Clay, and she was satisfied with her life, but they didn't hear it.
Clay just sighed and wiped a hand over his face.
He knew how her parents felt about him. They made that painfully obvious the first time they met before he deployed.
"I get that honey. I am sorry they still think I am not good enough for you. I have done everything I could to make a good impression. If you want to take a break or call it quits, then I get it" he stated.
She shook her head, "no honey, that isn't what I am saying and that isn't what I want either. I love you Clay and I know that you are working towards a better life. I wouldn't change anything about you. Please know that" Stella reassured him.
"We'll be okay Stella. I know that we are secure in our relationship, I just need you to be more accepting of my relationship with Mia and the guys. If you work on that, then we will be fine" he said.
"I have to get going honey, but I wanted to let you know I miss you. I have got to get going because I have to call Mia. I want to check-in with Ally, I really miss her" he stated.
Stella sighed and leant her head on her hands.
"I know you want to check up on Ally honey, but please try to message me more or get in contact okay" she asked.
She was jealous that he wanted to get off the phone with her and call Mia, even if it was to call his daughter.
Stella still didn't get it.
After everything that Clay told her about the military life, the brotherhood of the Seals, and the importance of family and friends, she still didn't get the importance of family support.
"I will do the best I can honey okay" he replied.
Clay didn't want to tell her about what happened to him. Not after the video call they just had.
It wasn't the right time.
Besides, the main reason was that he didn't want her to freak out and secondly, he knew she wouldn't be able to handle it like Mia would.
Mia understood this life, she knew sometimes there were going to be bumps in the road. She would understand. This would just be used against him in the future with her parents.
Stella nodded and knew it was time to say goodbye. She tried to keep it positive.
"Be safe Clay. I really miss you and love you. I want you to come back to me in one piece" she said before blowing him a kiss and hanging up the video call.
When Stella got off the video call with Clay, she grabbed her phone and texted her mom.
"Hey mom, listen, I know that you want me to come to the Dean's retirement dinner and are trying to set me up with one of the professors from California, but I don't think I am going to go. I can't do that to someone I love that is risking his life in a war zone. It's not right and I am not going to play this game anymore with you. You either accept my life and my choice to be with Clay, or you don't have me in your life anymore. Please understand that. I hope to talk to you soon."
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Clay hung up with Stella and moved to find Mia's number in his Skype list.
Mia was sitting on the couch with a cup of tea while Ally was taking a nap.
It was her first night off after a 72hr on-call shift and she was just trying to catch up on some R&R (rest and relaxation).
After spending all day cleaning and organizing her house, she went grocery shopping, took Cerberus for a walk with Ally and let them loose in the backyard while she made lunch.
Mia put Ally down for a nap and went back down to have some tea and relax on the couch for a minute.
She was just starting to catch up on her recorded TV shows, going over some charting when she got a notification for a Skype call from Clay.
Opened the Skype call, greeting Clay with a smile and a wave.
He looked a little haggard and run down, but overall, Mia thought he looked good.
"Hi Clay" she started the facetime.
"Hey Mia, how are you doing? How's my little Angel? She doing okay? Thanks for the photos, they were really cute" he blurted everything out all at once.
He didn't want her to ask about how they were doing because he didn't want to tell her about his accident.
Mia waved, "hi Clay, we are good. Ally is great. She is having a blast at daycare. They are learning about letters and numbers, so she is going around pointing at things in the house saying what the letter matches with it. I will send you a video, it's really cute. I am glad you liked those pics. We had a St. Patrick's Day party at Rob's house, so we dressed up the kids like little leprechauns. I am pretty sure Emma took some pictures and sent them to Jason" she informed him.
He laughed, "Yeah, she did. Jason gave me a copy of some with you and the kids from the party and kept the other ones from Emma. But I can only imagine the fun you all had. I am sure Claire had the house loaded" he replied.
Mia nodded, "oh yeah, she had green streamers, some pots of gold chocolate coins, and a green punch that was really good. Claire even had St. Patrick's Day cocktails and mocktails for the kids. It was really cute. How you guys doing?" she asked.
He smiled, "I am glad you guys had fun. The pictures were really cute. I appreciated them a lot" he replied trying to ignore her question.
Mia shook her head at his deflection, "nice try Spencer. Come on, tell me, how are you all doing?" she asked again.
"We are doing okay. There were a couple incidents, but we are all okay" he was trying to be vague.
Mia was smart enough to pick up on him being vague. That made her think that something was wrong or someone was hurt and he didn't want to tell her.
"What's wrong Clay? Are you sure everything is okay?" she asked.
Clay scoffed and wiped his hand over his face, relaxing back in the chair.
"Yeah, we are fine. We have a free day finally. It has been pretty crazy around here. Mandy has been keeping us running in and out all hours of the day and night. We have been running ourselves ragged" he explained.
Mia nodded in understanding. "I am sure that Mandy is happy that you all are getting these missions done for her. What do you mean there was an incident? What happened?" she asked.
She knew that something was going on. Something must have happened for him to say that.
Clay sighed. He thought he did good job of changing the subject and deflecting.
He should have known better. The guys tried to tell him a long time ago that Mia was too smart for him.
"It was nothing big Mia. I got fucking ambushed, Jase and some of the other guys got some scrapes and stuff, but that's all. It's no big deal" he said.
Mia looked at him like he had three heads. She knew something had happened.
"Clay, are you serious? Can you tell me what happened? It's okay if you can't" she replied.
He nodded and leant against his arms on the desk.
"I can't tell you details, only that we got ambushed and it was a potentially bad situation, but the guys were there for me, and I am fine now. As for the situation with Jason, you need to ask him about that" he stated very briefly.
He was not about to through his boss under the bus.
'Yeah, that's not happening' he thought of all the things Jason could do to him when he found out it was Clay who ratted him out to Mia.
Clay knew that if he were to tell her details, not that he could, she would panic and worry for no reason.
Mia took in the information and read between the lines. She had been in this life long enough with her brother that she knew he wasn't telling her everything.
"Were you hurt? What were your injuries and don't even try to tell me that you weren't because for the longest time you refused to facetime or video call and only answered everything with email or told Jase to tell me" She argued.
She figured the injuries had to be pretty severe for him not to want to call his daughter and see her if he had access.
She also knew from talking to her brother that they had time to get communications home, so it hurt even more that Clay didn't want to see them.
"Yeah, they were pretty bad for a while, but I am good now. Trent said that I had a fractured rib that nicked my lung. I had a chest tube for a while, but everything is okay now. I don't want you to worry about me. Why don't you tell me what happened with your OB appointment? Did the test results come in yet?" he turned the conversation back to her.
Clay really didn't want to dwell on the past. He was worried about Mia, and he wanted to make sure she was okay.
Mia nodded and took a sip of some tea. "Jesus Clay. Why didn't anyone call me? I am going to kick Jason's ass. What was he thinking leaving me in the dark" she argued, her eyes narrowing when Clay looked sheepishly.
"I am the one who told him not to tell you. I didn't want to worry you because I knew that you were going to want to do something about it, but there was nothing you could do. Trent took care of me and made sure that I was good" he explained.
Clay could see the worry and the doubt on Mia's face. He could tell she was worried about him.
"Don't worry Mia, we got it handled" he stated.
"Fine, I am not going to say that I like it, but as long as you are feeling better. Just tell me one thing, are you still recovering?" she asked.
"Yeah, I am desk duty. I have been helping Davis and Blackburn has been keeping a tight eye on me. Don't worry, I am good" he replied.
Mia nodded with a smile, "he is probably looking after you because he knows that if I were there, it would be worse" she teased.
"But back to your question, I am doing okay. The kids have been busy with their activities, I have been helping with the development of the new trauma program at the hospital, so we are all running around like headless chickens, it's actually pretty amusing. The lab tests were okay. There were a few things that were abnormal, but Grace is taking care of it" she replied.
Clay gave her a pointed look. He didn't know what all that meant, but Trent told them that it had to be serious for them to send the lab tests to another hospital.
He knew she wasn't telling him everything. He could see it in her face.
"What tests were abnormal? You need to dumb it down for me Mia. I have no idea what any of this means, but you are the mother of my child. I need to make sure you are okay" he replied seriously concerned.
Mia sighed and nodded, putting her tea down, crossing her arms across her chest.
"I know you are worried about me like I am worried about you. Okay, I guess if I am going to be honest, I might as well start from the beginning" she let out a deep breath, wiping a hand over her face.
"You know things started with me before you deployed. I had a bunch of procedures and tests that were all abnormal, so Grace and Tess ordered more. There were a few things of concern, which is why Grace sent the lab tests to an outside hospital. The whole reason they ordered the tests to begin with was because during one of the procedures they found a tumor on my ovary. Don't be mad, I didn't want to tell you because you were deploying, and I wanted you to worry about deployment" she added.
Clay looked at her beyond concerned. "Are you serious Mia? Why the hell wouldn't you tell me? I would have been there for you. I knew something was wrong. I could feel it" he complained.
He really couldn't believe she didn't tell him about this earlier. It was no wonder she was acting weird.
Mia nodded, "I know and that is why I didn't tell you. I didn't want to add the extra stress or burden on you or Jase. The only people who knew were Grace and Tess. But that's why I am telling you now. They got the biopsy before you left, and they sent the biopsy results to my old hospital in New York. My friend ran the tests of the pathology results on the tumor. The results just came back a couple days ago and they were benign. The tumor was not cancerous. There is nothing to worry about" she explained.
As she explained everything, she could see the wide range of emotions play out on Clay's face.
"Damn Mia. I am sorry you had to go through this alone" he replied.
"So, there is nothing more that we need to do? Do you have to go back for a check up or something? Get more labs and stuff?" he asked.
Mia smiled and shook her head, wiping her tears. "I am okay Clay. I promise you, on our daughters' life. I need to keep an eye on things, and check up with Grace or Tess, but I am okay for the most part" she replied.
Clay wiped a hand over his face and relaxed back in his chair. "Mia, this is not what we agreed on when we made our family decisions. We promised that if something this big came into fruition, we would tell each other. I am glad you are okay, but I need you to promise me to tell me" he said.
"I mean damn, this is huge. I can't believe you didn't tell me or Jase. How the hell did you get through the past few months without saying anything. So, what does this mean, are you clear of everything? What about the tumor?" he asked, still trying to process everything.
"So, basically a tumor is like an abnormal mass of cells that gather together and refuse to die when they should in the function of our body's. Because the tumor was benign, it was not an emergency for me to have it removed. It isn't going to spread anywhere or cause me any problems, but I still don't like that it is there, so I am going to have it removed in a couple weeks when Naimah is off and the kids are out of school, so they can keep an eye on each other" she informed him.
"You need to have surgery? Who is going to be there to help you?" he asked.
"Grace and Tess are going to rotate shifts with Connor to help me out for a few days after surgery, but I will be okay. Don't worry, I will keep you updated okay" she stated.
Before Clay could even think to say anything else, he heard crying in the background.
"I have to go Clay; Ally is up, and I have to get her some lunch. I promise to keep you informed of everything. Love you, be safe" she blew him a kiss before hanging up.
Wiping a hand over her face and through her hair, she let out a relieved breath before she got up and got back to reality.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::;
Clay knew what Mia was doing. She hung up before he could say anything, so he just sent her a message telling her to email him when she found out more about surgery.
When he made it back out to the guys, they instantly knew something was wrong. It was written all over his face.
"What's going on?" Jason got up and walked over to him first, the rest of Bravo following.
"There's something I need to tell you" he said looking to Jason with tears in his eyes.
He couldn't help but cry as he relayed the story and all the information Mia gave him, Trent pipping in to explain the medical knowledge, as he told them all what happened, the realization that he could have lost Mia really hit him.
"What the hell was she thinking?" Jason blew up.
"Why would she go through this alone?"
"She is going to need a serious talking to when we get back." All the guys had different reactions, their heads whipping in Clay's direction when they heard,
"I love Mia."
The men of Bravo looked at him knowingly. That wasn't new information.
Clay just looked at them dumbfounded that it took almost losing her to figure that out.
"We know that Tinkerbell, we were just waiting for you to pull your head out ya' ass and figure it out yourself" Sonny teased.
"Nothing he can do about it from this shit hole" Jason commented.
"Well, he still has another couple months to figure out what he is going to do" Ray added.
