"Kai.."
The first word Ozpin spoke as Kai emerged from the crater of his landing. Glynda stares in shock as she falls to the ground from the shockwave.
Kai stands back up fully as he takes in his surroundings. Before placing his gaze on his purpose for being here
Kai looks at Ozpin Glynda stands back up
"H-headmaster stand back!"
Ozpin remains standing as Kai and him continue looking at each other
"H-his soul.. I-it's him.."
"O-Oz…" Kai finally spoke out of the silence, with levels of hope
Ozpin expressions shifted into a smile, one that Glynda hasn't even seen before
"Kai.." Ozpin says again as his smile remains unchanged
Kai's eyes widened before smiling as well, One that you couldn't expect him to do. Kai then in a blur runs up to Ozpin, embracing him in a hug
Glynda's expression now changes to one of confusion at the situation. Who is this Man? Why is he hugging Ozpin? And why is Ozpin hugging..
Back?
"I-it's you.. Oz.." Kai whispered as he continued to hug Ozpin
"Yes it's me Kai.. It's me.." Ozpin responded
They continued to hug for a little bit as Glynda takes this time to process the moment
"H-Headmaster.."
Ozpin lets go of Kai to turn around and face Glynda who continues to stare in confusion
"Ah yes.. I have some explaining to do" Ozpin slightly chuckles as he turns towards Kai
(Beacon Tower, Ozpin's office)
The three now enter Ozpin's office, Ozpin heads towards his desk as Kai and Glynda follow
"Sit if you please.." Ozpin asks as he sits down on the other side of his desk
Glynda takes a seat as per Ozpin's request, Kai follows as well as he takes a seat beside Glynda
Ozpin clears his throat, preparing for a long explanation "Now, Miss Goodwitch you have questions I'm sure"
Glynda quietly nods as she glances at Kai before shifting her gaze back at Ozpin
"Who is he?" Glynda asked
Ozpin smiles again, knowing she'd asked the obvious question "His name is Kai"
Glynda nods in acknowledgement as she speaks "How does he know you? You never told me about him?"
Kai looks down at the floor as Ozpin nods "He was something I trusted only myself to know. For personal reasons"
Glynda tilts her head in confusion at Ozpin's answer
"He is someone I knew many past lives ago, over 100 years ago"
Glynda eyes widened more "T-then how is he here!? No being on remnant lived that long except for you or.. Her.."
"I'm as curious as you Miss Goodwitch.. that's a question i was going to ask myself" Ozpin spoke as he turns his head towards Kai
"Kai, how did you live this long?" Ozpin questioned as Kai tilts his head back up towards Ozpin
"Ice.. Snow.. lots of it.."
"I froze.." Kai spoke
Glynda seems relatively confused as Ozpin however nods his head in understanding
"It seems on that day you didn't die. You just froze and fell alongside coldrock" Ozpin correctly theorizes
"W-wait what day? Coldrock?" Glynda questions
"Right, I should explain more.." Ozpin sighs
"For starters, I met Kai in one of my past lives. I took him in and I raised him in Coldrock, A village in the continent of Solitas. Far from the city mantle and Atlas now. We were attacked by Grimm on the day of my death and our separation"
Glynda nods, seemingly able to absorb this new information "But how did he survive for that long? No normal person can survive that long in the cold"
"Kai is "different" from what we can understand. He grows fundamentally different from how we do. Like how humans adapt and evolve overtime, Kai does the same on a faster and grander scale. But he evolves so uniquely, It's unclear if there is a limit"
Glynda asks "Is it his semblance?"
"We deduced that earlier back then. But something about it just seems unclear.." Ozpin says as his expressions turns to slight curiosity
"I-I see.." Glynda nods again as she turns towards Kai "How old are you?"
Kai turns towards Glynda as he thinks for a moment
"Back then.. I was.."
"Twenty-four.." Kai said
Ozpin nods "However you're technically over a hundred years old now that you're here"
The three sat in silence for a moment until a scroll on Ozpin's desk started to ring. Ozpin picks it up to see James's number as the caller.
"Oh that's right" Ozpin spoke as he answered "General.."
"Oz? Oh thank Oum, I thought something bad happened to you" Spoke James on the other side of the call
"Rest assured James's I'm well, If anything I never been more happier than now"
"What do you mean? Oz, someone was coming after you. I tried to call you but Glynda answered"
"Yes James I'm aware, But there is nothing to be afraid of. I think it's better for you to be here for a better explanation. No need for precautions"
"Yeah that sounds good, alright I'll be there in a couple of days"
"Very well, I look forward to it. Be well James"
"You too Oz" James spoke last as he hangs up
Ozpin puts down the scroll as he looks towards the two in front of him
"Well that takes care of that" Ozpin chuckled slightly
"Now what do we do now?" Glynda questioned
Ozpin nods in acknowledgement "Well one thing for certain. We should wait for James so we can plan our next move. Maybe wait for Qrow as well"
Glynda shakes her head "I doubt we can spare that much time"
"Maybe you're right" Ozpin said
"Then in the meantime, Kai.."
Kai lifted his head back up towards Ozpin "Y-yes Oz.."
"I think it's best to get you settled in. After all, times are different"
Kai nods slowly "Yes Oz"
Glynda observes the exchange and thinks to herself "It's like Kai is a whole different person when he's talking to Ozpin"
(Two days later)
Much has happened since Kai's return. Ozpin had given Kai an official Identity to prevent further situations, regarding his existence. He also supplied Kai with a scroll which he has no idea how to use. Ozpin also gave Kai a place to stay at Beacon Academy. Explaining that it's best to keep him close for now. However this lets Kai explore the school much to his curiosity.
Kai is seen walking through the hallways of the school, taking in his surroundings. Passing by some students who are heading to their desired locations. Some of them comment about him amongst themselves as he passes by them.
He can hear them, no matter how quiet they whispered
"Who is he?"
"Does he go here?"
"Is he a teacher?"
"Is he single?"
Kai continues to walk past them as he makes his way to what he thinks is a cafeteria. Ozpin told him that if he's hungry he should come here.
He sees numerous students sitting down and conversing with each other. However what garnered his attention was a student picking on a girl, another student with rabbit ears.
"She's a faunus.. And he's.."
Kai eyebrows furrowed as he begins to make his way towards them, hearing everything the student is saying in the process
"Look at this freak!" the boy shouted towards his group who continue to laugh, unaware of Kai approaching them
"Hey.." Kai spoke out as the students around them begun to pay attention
"Huh? Who are you?" The student spoke as he lets go of the girl's rabbit ears
"Kai.." Kai answered
"He's Cardin, Cardin Winchester"
"Well, what do you want?" Cardin asked
"Leave her alone.." Kai spoke bluntly as the girl backs slightly away from Cardin
"What? You're her boyfriend or something? What're you going to do?" Cardin snorts as he points at Kai
"I said.. Leave her alone.. Cardin.." Kai trails off as he stood slightly closer to Cardin
Cardin's expression turns to one of slight shock "H-How do you know my name freak?"
Kai continues to stand there as he says nothing
"Answer me freak!" Cardin shouted as he attempted to push Kai, However only Cardin was pushed back as Kai remains unmoved
Kai hand slowly begun to curl into a fist as he continued to stare at Cardin
"Wait.."
"Oz told me.."

(One day ago)
"Kai.." Ozpin spoke as he stands next to Kai who's staring out a window
"Yes Oz.." Kai responded
"You know how strong you've become don't you?"
"Strong.. Too strong.."
"As expected Kai.. But even so Kai, you shouldn't use all of it like before.."
Kai tilts his head curiously
"Times are different Kai, your strength is unpredictable now.. Do you remember what I told you Kai, back then?"
Kai nods "Think of the world as glass, and you're the rock.."
"Exactly Kai, and now it couldn't be more true. You mustn't use it all Kai, You're too powerful for them to control..
"Which is why.."
"You must now control yourself.."
….
(Present..)
As Kai remembered Ozpin, Kai's hand uncurls from a fist
"Self-control.."
"Leave.." Kai spoke again to Cardin
Cardin and his group look at each other before looking back at Kai
"Whatever.. Freak.." Cardin whispered as the group and him turn around to leave
The cafeteria remains silent as the group leaves. Kai sighs to himself as he turns towards the girl with the rabbit ears
"Are you okay.." Kai asked as he looks down at her
The girl blushes slightly as she looks up at Kai "Y-yeah I-I am.. T-Thank you.."
"She's Velvet, Velvet Scarlatina.."
Kai sighs again, this time out of relief
"I'm glad.." Kai spoke again
"Kai!" shouted by a figure at the entrance, Kai turns to see that it's Glynda. The woman Ozpin talks to. The students turn to face Glynda as well
"Headmaster would like to see you now" Glynda says as she turns around
Kai nods as he looks back at Velvet before walking towards the exit
Velvet continued to stand there as she watches the man who defended her walk away
…
"Who was that?" asked a young girl with red and black hair
"Beats me, he looks strong though" spoke a girl with long blonde hair
"He defended her" Spoke a girl with black hair and a ribbon, who seemed very intrigued by the exchanged
"I wonder why.." spoke a girl with white hair

(Beacon Tower, Elevator)
Kai stands along Glynda as the elevator takes them up
"I saw team CRDL.." Glynda spoke out of the silence
"Hmm?" Kai turns towards her with a confused look
"The group of boys from the cafeteria left in frustration.. Did you do something Kai?"
Kai remains silent for a moment
"They were hurting.. Velvet.."
"Velvet? As in Miss Scarlatina ?"
"Yes.."
"And you chose to intervene?"
"No one was.."
Glynda sighs "Well at least no one got hurt"

(Beacon Tower, Ozpin's Office)
As the elevator doors open, Kai and Glynda step out of the elevator. They are greeted by the familiar sight of James Ironwood
"Kai, good to see you" Ozpin greeted
"Headmaster, General.." Glynda greeted back as she sees James
"Good to see you too Glynda" James greets Glynda as he attention turns to Kai
"James.."
"Now Oz.." James clears his throat "I believe you owe me an explanation?"
Ozpin nods his head "Yes you're right, best if you sit down"
(10 minutes later)
"So he's your apprentice.." James says
"Yes" Ozpin speaks
"And he's strong because it's his power..?" James questioned
"That's right" Ozpin nods
"Well now this makes a little more sense" James awkwardly jokes
"Now explanations out of the way, What do we do now Ozpin?" Glynda asks, looking for a response
"Now that we're all in the know.. We can plan our next move" Ozpin replied
James nods "Now, I think it's best to utilize Kai.. After all you said Kai is your greatest plan" James points towards Kai who stands there silently
"It's going to be hard to do that when he's not licensed.." Glynda speaks
"He's not?" James questioned
"No.. As of now he just got an identity" Ozpin shakes his head
"We're going to need some proof of expertise from Kai" Glynda turns towards Kai
" and I can't watch him all the time however.." Ozpin sighs as he looks at Kai as well
James starts to smile "Let me fix that Oz.."
"What do you mean James?" Ozpin's expression turns to curiosity as he hears the elevator ring
The four of them pay their attention to the elevator as it opens. And who stepped out was..
"General.."
"Miss Schnee.." James replied back
Glynda and Ozpin looked at each other in slight surprise as Kai continued to look at Winter
"Winter.."
"Why is she here?" Glynda questioned as she points at Winter
"Now, hear me out" James spoke as he clears his throat
"You said you and Glynda couldn't watch him all the time. And considering the liability Kai can be. He'll need to be watched.. And I volunteer Winter Schnee for the task"
"I see.." Ozpin nods as he considers the offer
"But why ?" Glynda asks
"As far as I'm concerned, Kai seems more cooperative with those he's familiar with. And Winter already has some experience with him. The Ace Ops even said that Kai was more cooperative with her than them"
As the three continue to talk, Kai continues to look at Winter with an intrigued look. Winter glances over at Kai and the two look at each other for a few moments..
"Winter.."
"Kai" Ozpin spoke out, gaining their attention again
"Y-yes.." Kai says as he turns towards Ozpin
"What do you say? Do you agree with Miss Schnee supervising you?" Ozpin raises an eyebrow
Kai remains silent again as he thinks to himself
"Yes.." Kai slowly nods
James, Winter, and Ozpin smile at his answer
"Thank you Kai" James nods at Kai
"Then , starting tomorrow please take Kai to Vale. I think Kai should explore more of the modern world" Ozpin asks, waiting for her response
"Yes sir" Winter nods as she walks towards the elevator as Kai follows as well
The elevator closes, leaving only James, Glynda, and Ozpin alone in the office
"You seem rather ecstatic about this Ozpin" Glynda turns to Ozpin who is smiling
"That is true. I figured you'd be hesitant about this" James raised an eyebrow
"I think this is good for Kai. Other than me and the people of Coldrock, Kai never really had friends. Perhaps Miss Schnee can change that.."
"Maybe she can…"
