A nice long, sweet chapter for you all! *Sorry* for taking so long to update! My job has been cray-cray lately! I finally finished. There *might* be a bonus chapter! I can't promise anything yet, but hopefully I am able to make one. Anyways, Enjoy!
The Final – Part Two
"Oh fuck!" I screamed out, not fully awoken from my deep slumber.
"Bella!" Edward gasped, holding me tightly. "What is wrong?"
"Ow! My… FUCK!" I screeched down, doubling over in pain as horrible ripples of fire shot down my stomach and back.
"You have gone into labor," Edward said excitedly as he lifted me into his arms. "We must get you to the goddess river."
"I don't give a fuck what you do!" I screeched as I held my stomach. Another contraction passed and I howled in pain, looking upwards at the bright moon.
My screams of agony had awoken the entire village. At first, everyone rushed out with concerned looks upon their faces, but once they realized that I was in labor, wide smiles appeared on their faces.
Esme and Carlisle were down as I stopped so I could double over again and scream in pain again.
"Bella," Esme cooed gently as she grabbed my hand. "You are in labor!"
"Oh no fucking sh—SHIT!" I screeched out as another contraction rippled through me. "Oh my fucking god! No I can't do this! Holy fuck!"
"Let us get you to the river," Esme said.
Edward leaned down and picked me up again. It hurt like a bitch to be carried so I dealt with it by digging my fingernails into Edward's skin. My fingernails popped through his skin, causing blood to cover the tips of my fingers.
"This will help you," Esme said as she pulled me from Edward and helped me into the water.
"Water is not going to he—holy fucking shit!" I cried as more contractions hit me. "I can't do this!"
"Yes you can," Carlisle said as he stood above me. Several women held onto me, so I didn't have to worry about keeping myself afloat. Esme found herself between my legs. "You can do this. You have to do this."
"OH SHUT UP!" I screamed, throwing my head back. I howled, both in rage and in pain. I couldn't believe how painful this was. I mean, I knew childbirth was painful, but this was unbelievable.
"Bella, you must push," Esme chirped excitedly. "I can see his head! He has my son's hair!"
I felt my legs shake as I pushed as hard as I could. My body convulsed as I felt my child slowly slide out of me. It was a strange, painful sensation that burned me. One of the women holding onto my arm smiled and let out a happy coo. Finally, an almost overwhelming burning sensation overcame me, but I couldn't help but give one final push.
"He is here!" Esme cooed cheerfully, placing a hot, sticky mass on my chest.
I looked down into a pair of large red eyes. I placed my hands around my son, feeling his tail wrap around my wrist.
"H-hello," I said as I felt my heartbeat gallop in a warm way.
My son let out a coo, his hands kneading into my flesh as he made himself more comfortable. I chuckled and placed my hand on his back, rubbing gently.
"You are my son," I chuckled again as tears spilled over my cheeks.
"May I take him?" Carlisle said, smiling widely and holding his hands out.
I looked down at my son, gave him a quick nuzzle before handing him off to Carlisle.
Carlisle expertly took my son into his arms and walked to everyone. Edward shoved Emmett aside, a wide smile spreading across his face as he looked at his son.
Carlisle held Mason high in the air. "Our newest family member! Mason!"
Our family cheered happily, and Edward ran into the water. Carlisle laughed and held Mason out to Edward, who took his son into his arms. Edward smiled down at Mason for a few moments before looking up at me.
"He is so beautiful. You did an amazing job."
I chuckled. "I am not finished yet."
"You are doing incredible. I love you so much my Bella."
"Thanks."
I gasped when another contraction rippled through me. This one wasn't as bad as the first few, but it certainly didn't feel good.
"Alright Bella," Esme said as she once again positioned herself between my legs. "We have another one to get out. Are you ready to push?"
"Yep," I said as I began to bare down.
Pushing this child out was not as painful as pushing my son out. In fact, this was much easier, as the way for my daughter had already been essentially cleared and stretched by my son. Within moments, I had another baby.
As soon as Esme placed her on my chest, she let out soft cries. I laughed and placed my hand on her back, nuzzling her gently.
"Shh, little one," I whispered to her. "My sweet Charlie."
Charlie whimpered a few more times before curling against me. I stroked her back and felt something curl around my wrist. I gasped and looked down, seeing a small, brightly colored blue tail. I looked back into her big brown eyes.
"You are a special one," I whispered to her, pressing my lips against the tuffs of her curly brown hair.
"May I take her?" Carlisle asked, appearing at my shoulder again.
I smiled widely, "She is special."
When her tail curled around his wrist, he gasped slightly and turned her over before letting out a soft chuckle.
"She certainly is special," He cooed at her, rubbing his nose against her and purring.
As I watched Carlisle walk her to our family, a sickening feeling washed over me, and it wasn't from the ladies cleaning me and helping me push out the afterbirth. I was nervous for my daughter. She had a tail, and the other girls did not. Would they accept her? Would they cast her out like they had done Caius?
"Our next newest family member," He held her high in the air, letting her tail dangle for the family to see, "Charlie!"
I held my breath, waiting for their reactions. Not even a millisecond passed before the family let out a loud cheer. I let out a sigh of relief.
Edward reached out, taking Charlie into his arms. He purred softly, the same fatherly purr that Carlisle often emitted, one that Edward couldn't produce until he became a father. I smiled widely and watched as he nuzzled our two children, purring to them.
Finally, he looked back up at me, smiling widely with tears glistening in his eyes. He walked into the water now that Esme had cleared him to come. Once he was to me, he placed our babies into my arms before wrapped his arms around me and cradling my arms. I looked up at him.
"You make very beautiful children." I softly said.
He chuckled. "Their beauty comes from you, my Bella. Their beauty and their power."
"Both of us. They get it from both of us," I stretched my neck out so I could nuzzle him. "I love you so much, my Edward."
He purred again, "As I love you, my Bella."
The rest of this chapter will be little excerpts of Bella and Edward's life. Please enjoy.
Two Weeks Later
My eyes slowly opened as loud crying rang out. I sighed softly, and reached out to the babies who were laying on Edward's chest. I stifled a groan of pain as I lifted my upper body to see which one of my babies was crying now.
Mason was still sleeping, ignoring the loud cries of his sister. I chuckled lightly and pulled myself up to a seated position, pressing my back against the wall.
"Come here, sweet girl," I whispered softly to her.
When I lifted her off of Edward's chest, his eyes opened, and he lifted his lip to show his sharp teeth. Anytime I lifted one of the babies off him he'd show his teeth, but luckily, he had stopped snarling.
"Shh," I whispered to him. "She's just hungry."
He pulled himself upright, cradling Mason gently, who continued to snore. He chuckled and pulled us closer to him.
"Poor Charlie," He said, purring for her. "I know it must be tough having to share the milk."
I placed her against my breast; it didn't take but a moment of snuffling for her to find my nipple and begin sucking. She was an expert at finding the milk now.
"She drinks less of my milk but wants to feed from me more frequently than her brother," I said as I patted her rear.
"He requires more," Edward said to which I nodded in agreement.
Mason had probably put on a good eight pounds since his birth. He was already a very large baby, but now, he was even bigger. My arms had definitely gotten stronger as I carried him around. He was still small enough for me to cradle him which was something I had been worried about until Esme assured me that his growth would stop for a bit before resuming.
With his large size came large amounts of milk. I was constantly producing and leaking, which wasn't a surprise since I had two babies. Mason usually emptied one breast and drank the other half of my other breast. Charlie only drank half of the milk. Edward had been worried about feeding them, but it seemed as though they had figured it out on their own. Mason didn't eat as often as Charlie, but he definitely ate more.
Edward's thumb stroked my cheek, "You look so tired."
I looked over and smiled at him. "I am tired."
"How about you sleep, and I feed her?" He suggested.
"I can't sleep if you're holding me upright. It's fine, my little naps here and there are getting me through."
He sighed softly and pressed his lips against my temple. "I am sorry my Bella. I wish there was more I could do."
I smiled. "It's alright Edward."
Mason let out a soft whine, his eyes still closed as his nostrils flared. I laughed.
"Little piglet. We need separation when we feed them, so he doesn't smell the milk." I sighed as I held my arm out to him. "Bring him here, I might as well feed him."
Edward carefully placed Mason into my arm under my breast. He opened his mouth and took my nipple into it without snuffling. His sense of smell was much better than hers and he was used to being on my breast longer than Charlie, so he was an expert at rooting.
"Hungry babies," I cooed at them as they ate.
Edward chuckled. "That they are."
As he said that, Charlie let go of my nipple, now deep in slumber with her belly protruding out from the milk. Edward carefully took her from my arms and placed her on his chest. He began to gently pat and rub her back.
"Come on little one," He cooed softly.
She pursed her lips, refusing to burp. I giggled, which caused Mason to let out a growl when my chest moved in a way he didn't like.
"Ah, no, none of that mister," I scolded playfully, giving his little nose a gentle tap.
Edward leaned down and pressed his lips against Mason's ear, letting out a very soft growl of his own. Mason stopped growling and just began mumbling around my breast, still agitated but after hearing his father's growl he knew better than to continue.
I shook my head, still giggling. "I see he is going to be your biggest problem as he grows. You have competition."
Edward shook his head and sighed. "The boys are always rowdy. It is my job to keep them under control."
I kissed Mason's forehead. "I'm surprised that even at this age they have a tendency to be aggressive."
"He is eating, the boys are naturally aggressive when it comes to the food. That is why we must correct him when he growls because he will begin biting and I do not want him biting you."
I chuckled, "The minute he bites my nipple is the minute I bite his ear."
A burp finally escaped passed Charlie's pursed lips. I giggled at her as she curled herself around her father, her tail tightening around his wrist.
"Release me, my little daughter," Edward purred, rubbing his face against her belly, causing her to giggle softly.
"Maybe it's time we tie her tail," I said, motioning to Mason's tail, which was tied against his back. He finally stopped crying about it, but after the last time of being whacked by it, I couldn't take it anymore.
"Her tail is so much smaller; it does not cause as much damage." Edward said.
I gave him a look, "It's still really strong. We probably should for her own good."
"Let us wait and see how much stronger it gets. She is only wrapping it around me, so I think it is alright."
I shook my head, silently chuckling at him. Charlie had her father wrapped around her little finger.
Coming Together (Five Weeks Later)
"Do you think they are ready?" I asked nervously, as I finished feeding Mason.
"They are more than ready, my Bella," Edward said as he gently rocked Charlie. "More than ready. It is time."
"But we haven't taken them out of our hut. I'm afraid they're not ready." I fretted as I pulled Mason up to my shoulder. "I mean, he's big, but he's still fragile. And Charlie's small and fragile. I don't know if this is a good idea."
"Bella we must," He chuckled. "Our babies are strong. They have survived the life-death threshold. They are ready."
I gave him a look. "I still can't believe you and everyone else didn't tell me about that. That was so wrong."
"I am sorry, but we were worried you would have a hard time recovering if you were to busy worrying about the twins surviving. You needed to focus on recovering."
I sighed. "I'm sorry. It's just that this is new for me, and these are my babies and—,"
"I understand your concerns," Edward said gently. "Truly, I do. But the twins are ready. It's time they're introduced to their litermates."
I sighed again. "Alright. We're ready then."
He chuckled and lifted both of the twins into his arm, before using his free hand to help me off my feet. I hissed a little in pain, but it was much better than it had been. My pain had turned into soreness, which I could live with.
"Do you have them?" I asked nervously as he held both of them in his arms.
"I do," He said as we began walked towards the ladder. I couldn't hang onto his back like normal with the twins. And I wasn't as coordinated with climbing down and holding a baby in my arms. It was better for him to gather them both into one of his arms and climb down.
I was a bit winded when we reached the bottom. This was the first time they had left the hut since I had given birth to them several weeks ago. It was hard for me because I felt overly protective, which was usually Edward's job.
We were the last ones to make it to the goddess river. Our family was smiling happily as they sat by the edge of the river. They were looking out at water at the new parents swimming in the water with their babies.
Edward handed me the twins, "Do you have them?"
"I do," I said, "But I don't think I can get all of the way out there."
"Do not worry," He said as he grabbed me and carried the three of us into the water. "Once they feel the water, they will swim on their own. We just need to make sure they are not able to swim off."
As he said, once the twins felt the water, they tried wiggling out of my arms. I held them tightly until we were close enough before letting them go.
Edward and I swam on either side of them, keeping them swimming between us. Mason was a lot faster than Charlie, so he kept trying to swim ahead of us, but Edward would grab his tail and pull him back. It didn't take us long to reach the rest of the group.
Once we made it to the group, we allowed the twins to swim between the adults and interact with their litermates.
Rosalie was waiting for me to reach her. I swam up to her as Edward stood behind me and held me up. The women were too short to reach the bottom of this part of the river, but the men reached the bottom easily.
"How is it going?" I asked Rosalie as I watched all of the babies.
"It is going well," Rosalie said. "Hmm, maybe not so well. Anthony has not made a heartbond yet."
"Don't worry. It just will take a few more moments." I reassured her.
"I hope so," She said nervously. "I just do not want him to be alone."
"He won't be, Rose." I told her before watching my kids swim around their litermates. This was the first time they have ever been around other babies, so it was interesting to see them interact.
Charlie was only curious if another baby touched her, but otherwise, she was more interested in kicking her legs and seeing if she could break passed the barrier of adults. They'd just chuckle and push her back.
Mason, on the other hand, was very curious about the other babies. He was by far the biggest, even though he was not the first one born out of this group. He was swimming around, but it seemed as though he were testing the other boys, shoving them aside and flicking water at them with his tail. I couldn't help but shake my head while Edward let out soft sighs.
I watched closely as Charlie bumped heads with a curly headed baby. Looking closer, I saw that it was Anthony. My heart stopped for a moment, before beginning to beat again. I smiled as I watched them swim around one another, their tails looping together.
Rosalie was smiling widely. "I believe my Anthony has made a heartbond with you Charlie."
My smile matched hers. "I think so too."
I watched for several more moments as the two of them nuzzled one another, swam around each other, and made the strangest clicking noises in their throats. The noises were very soft, almost like coos. It made my heart melt.
After a moment of watching the two of them, I turned to Mason. He was still swimming around, testing the other babies. I frowned, watching him.
"He… He is not finding his mate." I softly said to Edward.
"Give him time," Edward said. "He just needs time."
Time passed. My son found no one. All of the female babies had created heartbonds, but my son remained alone.
I felt a horrible pain deep within my heart. A pain that brought tears to my eyes. I looked down, letting the tears fall into the water. My son had no one.
I felt a large hand on my back. Lips pressed against my ears. "It will be alright, my Bella."
I closed my eyes and inhaled softly, hoping the tears would disappear. A few moments passed before a small head bumped against my stomach. I opened my eyes to see Mason, looking up at me. I forced myself to smile.
"Hello, my Mason." I said softly.
He let out a soft whine that immediately made my milk drop. I chuckled and lifted him out of the water, bringing him to my chest. He latched to my nipple.
"It will be alright," Rosalie smiled at me as Anthony and Charlie swam around her and Emmett. She grabbed them both by their tails. "More babies are to come soon. Do not see this as the end."
I nodded and placed a kiss on Mason's forehead.
Eight Months Later
"Mason, come here," I cooed as he tried to swim away from me. I wrapped my hand around his tail and pulled him back. "Bath first, then play."
"I wan pay," He said as he tried to get away from me.
"In a moment," I chuckled as I scooped water and poured it over his mess of curly red hair.
He growled, "Off!"
"'Top Mas," Charlie said as she swam around us, "You finish bath."
He growled again and even snapped his teeth at his sister, but he stopped when he heard the very familiar sound of his father's warning growl.
"Daddy!" Charlie gasped as she nearly drowned herself to get out of the water to him.
I smiled widely and let Mason go.
"Edward," I purred happily as I made my way out. "My Edward, I've missed you."
He smiled widely and when I was close enough he pulled me into his arms.
"I have missed you my Bella," He purred as he rubbed face against the top of my head as he inhaled my scent deeply.
Mason and Charlie were busy trying to climb up their father's legs, unfortunately, they had just learned to walk, and they weren't so coordinated yet.
Edward laughed and pulled away from me to pick our children up. The crawled into his arms and pressed their faces against his neck.
"I missed you both as well," Edward purred.
"You gon fo 'ver" Mason said.
Edward chuckled. "I was not gone for forever; I was only gone for three days."
"Where yo go?" Charlie asked.
"I had to go hunting for us, so our family can continue eating," Edward said before giving them a quick nuzzle. "Go play."
He put them back down into the water. Charlie started to whine, but when Anthony tore passed the twins into the water, she ran after him. Mason was quick to swim away so he could avoid bathing.
"I have missed you," I told him as I took him into my arms.
He chuckled and wrapped his arms and tail around me. "I have missed you greatly, my Bella."
As Edward and I were hugging, two loud bodies ran passed us and splashed into the water. The twins and Anthony let out a war whoop before launching themselves at Alice and Jasper.
"Oh thank the goddess," Edward whispered as he watched the five of them wrestle. "They will be more than ready for a nap."
I giggled. "And why do you want them to take a nap?"
He pressed his lips against my ear and purred in a way that made my knees buckle.
"Mm. Say no more," I whispered back, slowly running my hands up his chest. "Maybe we can even convince Alice and Jasper to watch them during naptime."
"Jasper certainly owes me for taking him hunting with the men. He will watch the babies." Edward said before raising his head and letting out a loud clicking noise that caught Jasper's attention. "Watch the babies."
Jasper nodded and fell backwards when Mason launched himself at Jasper. Edward scooped me up and ran off quickly. I giggled all the way to the forest. Edward wouldn't take us back to our hut, the last time we had alone time, the twins, who were supposed to be napping with their grandparents, had nearly caught us in the act. Luckily, they had been so little at the time they didn't ask questions.
Once we were far enough away from the village, he set me on my feet and pressed his lips against mine. I ran my fingers up to his hair and gripped it. His hands reached down and cupped my rear. I giggled.
Before I giggled, I heard a very distant noise. I put my hand on Edward's lips. He tried to move around my hand and resume kissing me, but I shushed him.
"Do you hear that?" I asked softly.
"No," he said as he started kissing my neck.
I ignored him, listening harder. Something was crying in the distance. I could hear it, plain as day.
"Edward I hear a baby," I said, pushing away from him.
"A baby?" He said in confusion. "I do not hear a baby."
"I swear I hear a baby," I said, taking a step towards the sound.
"Bella, the ku'vik'e have finished their breeding season. The pups sounds like the crying of our babes. It is just a trick."
"No, Edward I am telling you," I said, hearing the sound again. "That is a baby!"
I ran off towards the sound, Edward hollering at me before running after me. I ignored the thunderous sounds of his footsteps behind me.
I stopped in an open field, looking around wildly for a crying baby. Nothing but silence surrounded me. I jumped when Edward placed his hands on my shoulders.
"It is alright," He said gently, kissing the back of my head. "The ku'vik'e are trick—,"
He stopped when the soft cries of a baby filled the air. I turned sharply to him.
"Does that sound like an animal?"
He scrunched his eyebrows and looked around. "No one was due to have a baby now. I smell no one."
"Well, there is a baby here!" I hissed as I looked around at the very large flowers. "Somewhere."
Edward growled and began sniffing the air. He started prying open the flowers, looking into each one.
As he looked, I scanned the area. My eyes stopped when I spotted a large splotch of blood. I gasped and started following the trail as Edward looking through the flowers.
In the line of trees, laying on the ground, was a woman, curled up in the fetal position. I dropped to my knees as I examined her. She was gone.
I stroked her hair out of her face before looking down at the rest of her body. I leaned over and vomited at the sight of her lower half that had been ripped apart.
"Bella," Edward said as he walked over to me. I looked up at him, tears streaming down my face and saw that he was holding a small, bloody mass.
"Oh my god," I gasped, extending my arms out. "G-give it here."
He laid the baby gently into my arms. The baby shivered, letting out loud cries that made my milk drop.
"Help me get my skirt off. It's cold." I said.
He helped me pull my skirt down and the draped it around the baby and me. The baby shivered one time before curling up in the heat. Now it's cries took on a whiner tone and I knew it was hungry.
It felt wrong putting my breast in this baby's mouth, but I didn't really have a choice. I couldn't let it starve.
"What do you think happened?" I asked in a soft voice.
Edward slowly shook his head. "She is not one of our sisters."
I stared at her for a moment. "Do you… do you think she came from the other side?"
"I do not know." He said. "We need to bury her though."
"Bury her?"
"Yes," He said. "It is disrespectful to leave her like this and to allow animals to eat her."
I nodded. "I will go back to the village and get help."
He looked out at the forest. "I will run you back. You cannot feed the babe and run to the village."
"Will she be okay if we leave her?" I asked as I hopped onto his back.
"I will get help then come right back to her. She should be fine until then."
"Okay." I said, holding the baby tightly to me.
The baby quietly fed as Edward ran towards the village. I was worried she was hurt somehow, like her mother, but all I could do was cradle her and pray for the best at the moment.
Edward found his parents in the heart of the village. They were holding the twins, who were nodding off.
"Edward, Bella, I did not think we—,"
"Father," Edward said as he set me on my feet. "We need help."
"What is wrong?" Carlisle said quickly, his eyes widening.
"We found a baby," I said, moving my skirt to show the little baby nuzzled against my breast.
Esme gasped, "Where did you find the babe?" She asked as he moved to me, examining it. "Where are the parents?"
"The mother is deceased," Edward said. "We had to leave her body, but we must return to it to bury it."
Carlisle nodded. "Jasper, take Mason."
Carlisle laid Mason into Jasper's arms. Esme gave Charlie to Alice.
"Go to our hut and watch them." Esme said.
"But mama—," Alice started to whine.
"Go now," Esme said firmly. "Bella come; we must check the baby."
I followed her to hut on the water so she could check the baby. Our family was concerned, but they kept their distance, knowing that overcrowding us wouldn't help the situation.
"Lay her down." Esme said as she knelt down beside the bed.
I pulled away from me and placed it gently on the leafy bed. The baby whined and shivered, milk droplets leaking from its lips.
I looked the baby over, trying to get a better look at it, now that we were in a safe place. The baby was a girl. She had a very thin layer of black hair, with one tuff of it sticking up from the stickiness of her birth. She had tanned skin and was overall, very tiny, as if she were a preemie.
"She appears to be okay," Esme said after checking her over. She placed a hand on the baby's bloated, milk-tummy. "You fed her?"
"Yes," I said, taking a cloth and gently wiping away the gunk from her face. "She was screaming and crying, but I think it's because she was cold and hungry."
"Hm," Esme nodded as she pulled the bowl of warm was closer. "What about the mother?"
"She wasn't one of ours," I said. "I've never seen her before. She was… deceased when we found her."
Esme nodded again before picking the baby up. "Was the baby with the mother?"
"No. Edward found her, but she wasn't with the mother's body."
"What happened to the mother?"
"It looked like she was r-ripped apart."
Esme made a face. "Ripped apart? What would have ripped her apart?"
"She was a really small woman."
"Do you think she was from the other side?" Esme asked.
I paused and thought about it for a moment. I thought back to the woman's appearance, even though I didn't want to. I remembered she had a tattoo on her arm. It was slightly mangled, but it was something written in scripture, and a small picture of Jesus above it.
"She had to of been from the other side. She was clearly not from here."
"Do you think she was torn apart by an animal?"
"That's what it sort of looked like, but I'm not sure."
The baby let out a whine and shivered. Esme chuckled and retrieved a larger cloth.
"Come here, little one," she said as she bundled the baby up. "It appears we have a bit of a mystery babe."
"What do we do with her?" I asked.
"We will care for her, and raise her as our own," She said. "I cannot feed her, but you can."
"Esme, I'm already feeding two babies, I can't—," She laid the baby in my arms, causing her eyes to open and look up at me. She had the iciest blue eyes, which was somewhat unsettling against her darker skin tone, but there was something magical about those blue eyes. I couldn't help but sigh. "I guess we have no choice. She needs a home, and a mother and father."
Esme smiled. "I guess this will add a few more years before you and Edward have any more?"
"Most definitely," I nodded enthusiastically.
"We are back," Edward said as he entered the hut.
Esme and I jumped, causing the baby to whimper slightly.
"Was everything okay?" I asked.
"Yes, it appears the mother was… taken by the forest," Carlisle said, trying to spare my feelings. "How is the babe?"
"She is fine." I said, "No injuries."
"What are we going to do with her?" Edward asked, kneeling down beside me. "We cannot take her. You do not produce enough to feed her."
"We're the ones that found her," I said. "She cannot feed from multiple women, Edward."
"Bella, we must think about our own children." Edward said, placing his hands on my shoulders. "I know you want to help the baby, but we must help our own babies. They need you."
"We'll manage," I said, smiling up at him. "Charlie still only drinks half of my milk. This baby only drank half before she fell asleep. It'll work out. Charlie and Mason are very close to eating solid food. We can supplement some in to help."
He let out a soft sigh. "What do we call the babe?"
"Aukell," I smiled. "I believe she is a gift from the goddess. I want to call her Aukell."
Edward made a face but chuckled lightly. "Aukell. It is very strange, but so is she."
"I want to go see our babies," I said, slowly rising to my feet, cradling Aukell.
"I am sure they will want to see you as well," He said, lifting me up bridal style. "And I am sure they will want to meet their new sister."
He walked us back to Carlisle and Esme's hut, where our twins were napping. When we got there, Alice and Jasper were laying on either side of the twins and were whispering. They sat up quickly when we walked in.
"What did you find?" Alice whispered.
I got onto my knees and presented Aukell to them. Alice cocked her head to the side in confusion.
"You had a baby?"
"No," I chuckled, "We found her."
"You found her?" Jasper said, his nose scrunching. "Where did you find a baby."
"In the forest." Edward said.
"Where is her mother?"
Edward and I looked at one another before he answered.
"Her mother is deceased." He said softly. "So we will be caring for her, as her parents would have."
Alice and Jasper looked at the twins before looking at one another. I knew what they were thinking, but they had the courtesy not to say it. Which I was grateful about.
When I laid Aukell on the other side of Charlie, Mason shot up, his eyes wide. We weren't expecting him to wake up so suddenly, so all of us jumped as a result.
"Go back to sleep Mason," I whispered, pressing a kiss against his forehead.
His nostrils were flaring and his was sniffing the air. He looked over at Aukell, once he realized that she was the source of the new smell, I became nervous.
Mason was extremely territorial, even at this age. Sometimes he'd even snap at Anthony if he felt Anthony was trampling to much in his space.
"Baby," Mason said as he placed a hand on Charlie and looked down at Aukell. "Baby?"
I smiled softly. "Yes, it is a baby. Her name is Aukell."
Charlie woke up and let out a hiss when Mason's hand pressed harder on her. She swatted at Mason with her hands, and he growled at her. Edward quickly picked Charlie up so it wouldn't result in a fight.
"Easy Mason," I said gently as he moved closer to Aukell.
He looked down at Aukell, before putting his hands on her head. I jumped, thinking he was going to hurt her, but Edward placed a hand on my shoulder and stopped me. I looked back at him with confusion. He held a finger up and I looked back at Mason.
He was staring down at Aukell and gently stroking her head. A soft rumble left his chest and his tail wrapped around her chubby leg.
"My baby." He said, pulling her close to his side.
I chuckled. "No Mason, she is not your baby—,"
"That is not what he meant, Bella." Edward said, pressing his lips against my ear. "His baby. His mate."
"Oh. Oh!" I gasped, turning back to Mason. "She is your mate! You made a heartbond!"
I grabbed him in my arms and squeezed him tightly. He growled at me and snapped his teeth, but I didn't care. I was just so happy and relieved he had made a heartbond.
"Oh my baby!" I laughed, placing him back down beside Aukell. He grabbed her again, nuzzling his nose against her head. She let out a tiny coo.
"It did not happen in the way I expected it to," Edward chuckled, shaking his head. "I guess I should not be surprised. I found my mate in an unconventional way. I suppose my son would do the same."
I giggled. "Of course. Now I know why I needed to name her Aukell. She is a gift from the goddess."
Edward placed his arm around me and pressed his lips against my temple. I turned my head and nuzzled him before looking into his eyes.
I love you.
He smiled widely.
I love you even more.
The End
