Chapter 30 - Sam
I couldn't believe it. All this time and Bella could possibly be the Omega of the pack. Old Quil left his study to immediately go commune with the spirits. He told Bella and I that if she was the Omega then we didn't have time to waste. If we didn't perform the ceremony as soon as possible that her symptoms would keep getting worse. So while he was communing with the spirits, Bella and I headed to my house and I called the others to join us so that we could fill them in.
The second that Jared walked in, he made a beeline for Bella, kissing her deeply. As Alpha, it warmed my heart to know that not only was one of my wolves happy and content, but that the possible-Omega has happy and content as well.
When everyone (including the imprints) had arrived, I got everyone's attention. "Thanks for coming so quickly. There's been some knew information brought mine and Old Quil's attention." I said, causing Jared to look at Bella (knowing that she'd been reading through the journals all day). "It seems that we might have found out why Bella's been so exhausted. Old Quil is currently communing with the spirits for confirmation but it seems that we might have found our… Omega." I said.
There was a collection of gasps throughout the room. Most of the wolves knew what this meant. "Bella?" I heard Embry ask quietly. "Bella's the Omega?" He asked, fully.
I nodded. "Yes. She found a passage in Ephraim's journal that talked about his wife Martha." I said.
"Wait. Grandma Martha was the last pack's Omega. I remember Dad talking about it." Jacob said.
Again, I nodded. "Yes. Bella's symptoms line up to the same one's that Martha had. The reason that Old Quil is confirming with the spirits is because if Bella is in fact the Omega there is ceremony that must be performed so that we as a pack can officially recognize her. If not…" I trailed off.
"If not, what?" Jared asked.
"My symptoms will only get worse." Bella added, looking down at the floor.
"What does this ceremony entail?" Paul asked, pulling Rachel into his side.
"We're not sure. Right now, the only thing that we can do is wait until Old Quil finishes communing." I said.
Everyone in the room nodded. "What is it? What aren't you telling us?" Jacob spoke up.
I sighed. This was the part that I hadn't wanted to say. "The legends tell us that the Omega is important. That she is to be protected at all costs. In the last pack, it was years before they fully understood why. The Omega is the key to future generations. It would explain why Em and I have tried but haven't been able to get pregnant." I said, looking to the floor.
"Are you saying what I think your saying?" Jared asked.
I could feel tears building in my eyes. I looked up at my Beta. "It means that if Bella is the Omega, no one will be able to get pregnant until she does." I said.
Lots of things happened then. Paul, Jacob and Rachel cussed. Emily and Kim gasped. Jacob stood and walked out. Jared sat there and ran a hand over his face while his other hand gently held Bella's. The rest of the room sat in silence.
Half an hour later, we all looked to the door when Old Quil walked in. We all stared at him as he stood there and spoke the words we were waiting to hear. "She is the Omega." He said.
We all turned to look at Bella and she fainted.
A/N: I know it's short. Bear with me.
