Chapter 11 (Adrian/Kronos) The empousa
I was sitting down on a chair. That was the good news. I had just watched the telkhines fashion a new weapon for me. They still had to add some finishing touches to it and it would soon be mine. I picked up a leaf that had fluttered through the window. I was examining it when the door burst open. It was Luke. His hair was greying and was wild looking. I immediately knew something wasn't right.
"What news do you bring me?"
Luke gasped for breath. "I just received word that the demigods are heading for the Sea of Monsters. We must stop them!"
"No."
"No? But my Lord…"
I cut him off. "They will bring the Golden Fleece to us. You will lead a platoon of soldiers to intercept them when they arrive back in the States. This ship will be yours." I gestured at the Princess Andromeda.
"Yes, my Lord."
He bowed and exited the room. Then I heard a unusual noise. Clunk. Thump. Clunk. Thump. Clunk. Thump. I frowned and looked around and saw an empousa, flanked by two dracaenae. The servants of Hectate were easy to manipulate. They were new recruits for the army. The empousa stepped forward.
"Lord Kronos, it is a great pleasure and honour to meet you. I have heard many wonderful things about you."
She smiled at me. "My name is Kelli and I have many apprentices that will gladly join you as well."
I stared at her, thinking hard. Empousa were known for their so-called beauty. Beautiful when they were in human form. Not so beautiful when you looked down at their legs when they were in their true form. Men were and still are susceptible and foolish when they meet an empousa. They would get seduced and lured in for the kill. They were the perfect weapon.
"I have a mission for you later." I told Kelli.
Her eyes lit up with malice. She licked her lips and grinned. "I will gladly accept, my Lord."
I nodded and waved her away. She limped away with the two snake women behind her. I smiled.
"Oh. Percy Jackson. You are in one hell of a surprise."
