It had been a month since Yasalani party and a month since Miguel and Charlie started going out again. Everything was going good, her love life, her friends life, and her home life. She had just gotten her intermediate drivers license, Miguel was back in school and life was amazing and she loved it.

"Callie can I borrow the car in like three weeks, homecoming is coming up and I was wondering if I could go to the game," Charlie asked?

"Sure, but I've been meaning to talk with you about something," Callie sat down on the couch patting the spot next to her for charlie to sit.

"Um okay," Charlie made her way over to the couch hesitant to sit.

"It's not anything bad its actually the opposite, Arizona and I have been think about getting anew car," Callie started.

"What does that have to do with me," Charlie accidentally said out loud.

"I'm getting there, patience is the best policy," Callie fake reprimanded her.

"I thought it was honestly," Charlie looked at her confused.

"Arizonas giving you her old car were getting the new one tomorrow," Callie smiled.

"Oh my god thank you thank you thank you," Charlie repeated as she hugged Callie.

"There will be some rules."

"I don't care," Charlie held on to callie.

after a minute Charlie let go feeling kind of awkward.

"So you can't drive your friends around curfew is 12 during the weekend and 10 on a school night if you're going to be late or need more time text us. If you are drinking do not drive, or under any influence please call us and we will pick up," Callie said."Here the key, from now on you'll be driving yourself to school," Callie said taking the key out of her pockets.

Charlie grabbed the key.

"I have to go tell my friends," Charlie ran to her room to go spread the good news.

"I hate all of you," Charlie groaned as she sat down.

"You created the group chat it's your wrong doing," Daisy smirked.

"Oh shut up," Charlie said, with a look of disgust.

"Hey," Miguel slid next to Charlie.

"Oh now you wanna be cute and nice but last night you was sending laughing emoji when they talked about my foster moms ass," Charlie turned up her nose and crossed her arms.

"Hey I wasn't laughing with you I was laughing at you," Miguel laughed trying to turn Charlie around. "Wait I think I said it wrong."

"Nope you said it right," Daisy smirked.

"Yeah laugh at my pain but what if I talked about how big your big sister boobs are," Charlie knew how to hit a nerve.

"She's right it's now funny," Daisy backed her up.

"Okay I'll stop while I'm ahead," Miguel put his arm around Charlie.

"So how's school been," Charlie asked, picking at the food in front of her.

"Schools school, imma try to see if I can test out of geometry," Miguel told them.

"What seriously," Charlie turned to face him.

"Yeah, I already know most of it since Adam taught me," Miguel let the name slip.

Adam.

She hasn't heard that name in months, the shooting happened right behind Tia Nina's old house. The party was a block over. Adam had left and was getting ready to walk home when gun fire broke out so he ran, and the guy they where trying to get ran too the same way as Adam. And they shoot Adam right behind his house, his girlfriend was with him. He helped her over the fence and he had his back turned and was trying climb and they shoot him right in the back. Celeste left the state after it happened she did online school then went to some Ivy League.

"I miss him," Charlie sighed.

"Yeah me too," Miguel whispered.

"Guess what," Jose asked, as he sat down.

"What," Charlie laughed at his enthusiasm.

"My baby has all her babies teeth now and she can talk now. Like full sentences talk," Jose explained. "Yesterday she said can I have some water and she normally just says Wawa."

"Well that's what babies do they grow up," Charlie shrugged, not getting the hype.

"Oh you are so boring you don't understand," Jose rolled his eyes

"When Sofia was like a baby did you only talk about her with your friends," Charlie asked, Callie as she entered the apartment?

"Um, yeah," Callie looked up.

"Dang it," Charlie mumbled under her breath.

"Why'd you ask," Callie wondered.

"It's just all Jose talks about is lani and I love lani but he needs to stop talking about her. But he's always been like that he goes all in about the things he loves, in 6th grade it was some cartoons, 7th it was Noah and 8th grade now it's Yasalani and I can't listen anymore. But I'll have to for the rest of my life, because she can't leave him and this isn't a phase he'll grow out of," Charlie groaned.

"You'll understand someday," Callie laughed going back to what she was doing.

"And um could you not dropping me off and let me just take the car," Charlie blurted.

"Why, what's wrong I thought you said it save on gas for me to drop you for to school and for Miguel to drop you off at home," Callie stood confused.

"I'm friends with teenage boys, teenage boys who to stare," Charlie mumbled.

"Huh?"

"they stare at your ass and talk about it," Charlie muttered.

"What?"

"My friends stare at your ass," Charlie yelled.

"woah, okay wow," Callie laughed.

"it's not funny," Charlie groaned.

"It kind of is, I went through it with my mom and sister, half the guys who talked to me in high school wanted to get with my sisters, and they're jaw would always drop once they saw my mother. Imagine how bad Sofia is going to have with three instead of one," Callie laughed.

Charlie let out a groan before stomping off to her room.

"Hey, I think we should adopt Charlie," Callie blurted as Arizona got in bed.

"What?"

"It's just she fits in so well into the family and Sofia loves her and I love her and I think you love her too, so why not give her a loving home," Callie grabbed Arizonas hands.

"It's hasn't even been that long."

"But Sofias attached to her now," Callie tried to reason.

"You are very right but we would have to talk to her about this, and she need therapy. Marks getting relentless the longer he waits. And I don't want him to miss out on anymore family dinners," Arizona told her.

"Yeah you're right," Callie sighed.

"I know, but I don't want to ambush her and make her retreat," Arizona pointed out.

"Yeah so how do we do that," Callie pondered for a moment

"How about we talk more tomorrow then we can ask her?"

"Yeah you're right," Callie laid back. "Good night," She said, before turning off the lamp on the night stand.

"So how's your week been," Arizona asked as they sat around the dinner table.

Charlie hadn't seen Arizona much this week, so Arizona was very curious about what was going on in her life.

"it's been good, im baby sitting lani on Sunday in the morning," Charlie mentioned.

"That's cool I have the morning off Sunday so maybe I can help." Charlie looked over to Callie, who nodded her head.

"yeah sure." Charlie agreed, looking back over at Callie who smiled.

If you had to say who Charlie was closer to it would definitely be Callie. She had the most flexibility with her schedule so she was always around unless there was an emergency.

"So anything fun at work," Charlie cringed once she said it.

"um, no but thanks for asking," Arizona smiled. Charlie knew she had some big neonatal surgical fellowship going on.

"Jose the women's weird," Charlie whined.

"but you don't even know her that well, you said it yourself she's never home," Jose pointed it.

"Yeah which is weird," Charlie argued.

"okay but you said she's doing a fellowship so she has longer hours at work," Jose pointed out again.

"ughh," Charlie groaned.

"she's a pediatric surgeon, and she's helping you watch my baby for free, I hit the jackpot," Jose shrugged.

"you're never in my side," Charlie whined.

"there is no side my friend I have matured learned the error of my way and I have changed," Jose sighed.

the door jingled signify some enter the store.

"welcome," Charlie greeted with a smile.

"Charlie," Torie asked.

"oh my god Torie," Charlie smiled. "I meet her at carver," Charlie explained to Jose.

"I didn't know you work here," Torie smiled.

"yep," Charlie popped the p.

"um, so there's a party this weekend if you want to go it's Saturday starts at ten and I'll dm you the adress and bring your friend," Torie said before disappearing into the isle.

"now that was weird," Charlie said.

"no, we just got invite to a party on the other side of the tracks," Jose smiled.

"no I just got invited," Charlie corrected him.

"you don't have to go if you don't want to but I'd love to see you there," Torie smirked as she set her stuff up on the counter.

"and I'd love to be there," Charlie said, ringing up her stuff.

Torie stared, bitting lip as Charlie finished ringing up her snacks.

"your total is 10.80," Charlie smiled. Grabbing the money from tories hand. She quickly counted it handing over 20 cents. "And here's your change," Charlie dropped the change in her hands.

"Bye, see you soon," Torie grabbed her bag and left get another good look at Charlie before leaving.

"Oh my Jesus, it is so steamy in here," Jose laughed.

"what are you in about," Charlie questioned him.

"you and Torie, she's got the hots for you," Jose fanned himself.

"well I'm with Miguel so never going to happen," Charlie laughed.

"at least you know you got it," Jose joked.

"I never lost it," Charlie laughed.

"You're staring and it starting to get weird just spit it out," Callie said from her bed looking up from her book.

"I um," Charlie started trying to find the words

callie patted the bed next to her "sit" and Charlie obliged.

"I've never been inside your room it's nice," Charlie said as she leaned back into the head board.

"I know you didn't come her to talk about room decor, so spill," Callie sat the book on the nightstand next to her bed.

"there's a party tomorrow I just got invite I was wondering if I could go," Charlie blurted in one breath.

"sure just give me the location and don't come home any later than 2 am or i will make you clean the bathroom for the rest of the year," Callie threatened. "And no drinking." she added.

"i don't drink, I'm only going as the dd and if something happens ill let you know," Charlie got up from the bed. "and thank you, for trusting me.

"of course," Callie smiled before pick up her book.

"Be safe," Callie fussed.

"yes, mom," Charlie joked before heading for the door.

Even though Charlie was just joking it did make Callie's heart swell.

"and make sure your friends stay safe too," Callie said.

"of course, see you later Callie,". Charlie grabbed her keys and left.

"Cortez what up," She said into the phone. "Meet me in 40 at the liquor store with 3.5," she smirked before hanging up.

"Ok jose I see you with the fit on iced out looking like a star," Charlie yelled as he made his way out the house.

"you know how we do it," Jose stopped to pose, and Charlie pretended like she was taking a picture.

"okay get over here," Charlie motioned.

"so who we picking up next," Jose asked once he got into the car.

"next is daisy, then Miguel, the we meet up with Cortez but I already go a bottle of Tito's in the back for you," Charlie pointed.

"aww, you remembered but I'm classier now I like grey goose," Jose told her.

"shut up and drink the liquor, the chaser is right next to it," Charlie instructed.

"here bless the bottle," Charlie tapped its bottom before jose opened it.

"I don't understand how y'all drink like that," Charlie made a face.

"and ion understand how you smoke like that," Jose made a face back.

Two houses later and they made it to the liquor store .

"Cortez, how you been," Jose asked, sticking his head out the car?

"Jose don't start tonight," Cortez laughed.

"It's yo cousin fault she gave fed me Tito's and it's not even midnight," Jose laughed sticking his head back into the car.

"Stay in the car," she said grabbing a 50 dollar bill out her purse "Miguel get two bottles and some dutches and a chaser," She turned to her boyfriend handing him the 50.

"So what's the occasion," Cortez asked?

"Oh I'm going to a party," Charlie told him.

"I ain't hear about no party going on this weekend," Cortez said.

"It's on the other side of town," Charlie explained.

"Oh they be doing coke and Xanax at the parties make sure they do no shit to you," Cortez warned her.

"Of course they won't," Charlie tried to reassure him.

"I got some Hennessy and some grey goose and I got your Dutches," Miguel said as he exited the store.

"Thank you," Charlie smiled.

"Here, just give me 20," Cortez said handing her a baggie.

"You sure," Charlie asked?

"Yeah, I'm feeling the love," Cortez joked.

"Alright," Charlie handed him the money.

"Make sure you stay safe," Cortez said pulling her in for a hug.

"I will."

"Damn this house is huge," Jose said.

"I know and you just got of the ankle monitor, you're free," Charlie laughed as she pulled up.

"You sure this is the right house," Miguel asked?

"Of course it is," Charlie pulled out her phone to text Torie for confirmation.

"You could be wrong you know," Daisy chimed in.

"No I'm not because there goes Torie," Charlie said, getting out of the car.

"Hey, I've been waiting for you all night," Torie smiled, pulling her into a hug that lasted far to long.

"Oh, I'm sorry I got here late I was coming from work and I had to pick my friends," Miguel cleared his throat. "And boyfriend," she added.

"Nice to me you, we have an open bar, Ethan parents have so much liquor it's like they're alcoholics," Tories giggled tapping Charlie's arm.

"Nice, but we brought our own," Charlie pointed to the bag in Miguel's hand.

"Alright then let go inside," Torie suggested.

The house was beautiful on the inside, tall ceilings, marble everywhere, a grand chandelier.

"Oh we're in the basement," Tories said, opening the basement door.

they made there way down party in full swing some lil Wayne song that no one knew the words to was playing.

"wow this is nice," Charlie smiled taking in her surroundings.

"I know," Jose smiled.

"It's Omar Hendricks birthday, so he went all out for it," Torie pointed to the bar.

"Well, we did bring our own," Miguel held up the bag.

"But who doesn't love Jell-O shots," Jose made his way over to the bar.

Charlie looked over at Daisy "Watch him," They say in unison.

"Please?"

"Gotcha," Daisy made her way over to the bar.

"So how's life at Carver," Charlie asked, trying to make conversation.

"Boring ever since you left," Torie smirked.

"Well I'm sorry about that," Charlie twisted her lips.

"Make it up to me and dance," Torie set her drink down and pulled Charlie away from the bar. The only light on in the basement was some leds, as Torie grind her body against Charlie while the bass penetrated Charlies body.

"I have a boyfriend," Charlie grabbed Tories hips to stop them.

"And its just dancing we are friends I'm sure daisy has danced on you before," Tories smirked but they both knew this was meant to be more than that.

"i don't know," Charlie started, watching as some girl dragged Miguel out to the dance floor.

"You know what, your right," Charlie grind her teeth.

Torie continued to dance on Charlie till she needed another drink.

"What was that," Charlie made her way to Miguel.

"I should be asking you the same thing," He took a swig from the bottle.

"This is mine now," Charlie snatched taking a swig. The liquid burned her throat, she groaned as it went down. She was a smoker not a drinker.

"You don't even drink."

"I do know," Charlie began to walk away.

She went to the couch and lit one of her blunts. She took a few puffs before some little white girl walked up to her.

"Oh you have to go outside with that," She smiled.

"Alright," Charlie put it out and walked towards the stairs.

A loud knock on the door scared Charlie.

"Police," The person on the other side yelled.

The music turned of and led lights.

"Police," They yelled.

A light from outside flashed into the basement window.

"Bro Kelly go," Some guy pushed.

"What if i get in trouble," She cried

"Just fucking go," he grunted.

"I don't want to get in trouble," She cried.

"You're to fucking drunk to function anyway," The boy got up and walked up stairs.

He stayed up there for a few minutes.

"Jose, stop kissing that boy," Charlie whispered.

"Alright parties over police said leave," The guy came back turning on the lights.

"Jose come on," Chalrlie got off the ground.

But Jose didnt listen still kissing the guy in the corner. Daisy stay on the way waiting for the crowd to leave.

"Jose lets go," Miguel made his way over.

"Aww man," Get got up grabbing the bottle putting in the backpack he brought.

"You're heavy so you need to walk on your own," Charlie complained as she tried to move Jose.

"No," Jose mumbled.

"I got him," Some big man said, coming over to take him.

"Whats a nice little girl like you doing out here all alone," the man on the stairs asked?

"Minding my damn business," Charlie sassed hurrying back to her car.

"Okay you got a mouth on you, I wonder what else that mouth can do," He asked getting up?

She picked up her pace hearing footsteps behind her.

"Yo chill that's a child," A guy said.

And she'd have to thank her lucky stars for him.

"Woah what wrong," Callie asked once she saw Charlie's face.

"My boyfriend danced with another girl the whole party and he lives in a basically a trap house. Some guy on Jose's street catcalled me and they all just stared at me like I was a piece of meat," Charlie cried.

"Oh Charlie, are you okay?"Callie came over to give her a hug.

"Yeah, I mean I knew I'm from the hood but last time i lived on that side of town i had no boobs and no body, I've catcalled before but never by my own people. And i know they not blood but they used to walk me and the neighbors to school to make sure we got there safely and now they hit on me like I'm on the block," Charlie said as she cried.

"I cant say I've experienced what you're feeling but i know what it's like to be catcalled and it sucks," Callie stroked her hair.

Callie waited till Charlie's shoulder stopped shaking before she pulled away.

"Thanks, I don't know what gotten into me," Charlie wiped her tears.

"It's okay to cry I'm glad you came to me," Callie smiled.

"You're cool i guess."

"I dont know if now's the best time, but i was wondering if you want to try therapy," Callie could fell her apprehension. "My wife and I are in therapy, and it helps," Charlie relaxed a bit.

"Ill get back to you on that," Charlie offered her a smirk.

It wasnt a no, so it was a win in Callie's book.
