Over the course of the day, many more volunteers have either announced their departures from Yandere Simulator or announced that their work for Yandere Simulator was done long ago, and that they have no intentions of returning. The only "odd one out" so far was CameronF305, lead composer, production assistant and known YandereDev simp, who announced he would be "closely reviewing" the situation, but even he doesn't condone YandereDev's recent actions.

That being said, throughout the day, I was most looking forward to one particular departure: Caitlin Myers, the voice actress for Midori, Kokona and Oka, among others. Throughout the writing of the Madelineverse, I understood that all three of those were fan favorites, and as such, while everyone else was getting stupid renames like "Melody Xiang" (Miyuji Shan), for these three, I made the deliberate decision to, like, properly respect their identities and names.

As Caitlin has, like many others, publicly announced her departure from Yandere Simulator on Twitter, I feel a lot more confident in believing that the game will die - and, consequently, that I need to take action for the Madelineverse.

To be fair, when I presented my list of options, I was always biased towards number 2, "continue the Madelineverse, but 'delete' all of Yandere Simulator legacy from it", for no good reason other than that coming up with ways to replace Yandere Simulator characters would challenge me as an artist. However, as continuing in the current form, but perhaps with a disclaimer reading "I don't support YandereDev, nor do I condone his actions" (already a common staple of Yandere Simulator fanfic with a conscience), is not appropriate given the scale of outrage, and I have gotten at least one review urging me not to cancel the series, option 2 also seems the most sensible, objectively.

A retcon of the Madelineverse, with the first fanfic tentatively named "Lovesick Girl (Post-Yandere)", is in development, and will start posting as soon as I have a chapter.

Whether or not the pre-controversy Madelineverse fanfics will still be kept up is still up in the air and subject to your input.

In the meantime, these are the temporary bios of the four main characters that replace the most significant Yandere Simulator characters in the Madelineverse.

Madeline Myers

Replaces: Madeline Lovesick (analog of Ayano Aishi)

Since birth, has sincerely believed that "actions speak louder than words, and words speak louder than smiles"

Go-getter with a cold and calculated attitude

Was on track to become valedictorian at her old school, until her father (Matthew Rogers) subjected her to a medical experiment and she lost her drive, while starting to experience emotions more deeply and vividly

Deeply resents her emotional side and continues to present herself as highly logical, but a misplaced tear-up says it all

Vivian Myers

Replaces: Beatrice Lovesick (analog of Ryoba Aishi)

Mysticist, believes in a lot of crap that was thought of 2,000 years ago, before science properly took hold

Used her "third eye" to "predict" her husband, and his behavior so far has completely validated her beliefs, so now she's doing the same for her kids, Madeline and Norman

In particular, believes that Madeline's husband will allow her logical and emotional sides to completely reconcile with each other, creating a balanced human being

After Madeline runs away, she continues to believe that she will at least be invited to her daughter's wedding

Joey Claire / Flashlight Girl

Replaces: Joey Claire / Info Girl (analog of Info-chan)

Head and only employee of the Doki Doki Internal History Department

"It's a department, not a club, and so it doesn't need the minimum 4 members"

Has been trouble getting students to volunteer, until Madeline approaches her

Not actually on Doki Doki High payroll (despite being cool with Principal Creative Emogal); does errands on weekends, taking up all of her weekend time, to earn money but it's not enough to support her and her father

Daughter of a journalist (Jacob Claire) who's been known for making up straight-up lies and is therefore unemployable; to counter his legacy, she wants to collect as much info as possible, but soon enough, collecting info becomes an independent obsession

Has been working on a time machine (for collecting more info from the past, duh) for years, but tries to keep it secret from Doki Doki High students

On Teacher's Day, the Science teacher chose her and promised in front of Doki Doki High that she'd build a time machine, and she can't live it down

Sophia Samsung

Replaces: Megan Saikou (analog of Megami Saikou)

The second child of Sectumsempra Samsung, and nominally, not an heiress

However, as her older brother, Sbiis Samsung, becomes obsessed with large numbers and completely forgetful of any heir duties, (family-controlled) media starts labeling her as an heiress

This causes her so much resentment: that she's forced to go to all these additional classes to learn heiress skills when she could be hanging out in any of Doki Doki High's numerous clubs

Before Creative Emogal took over as principal, she was Student Council president, and basically everyone thought she didn't even attend to her duties (she was doing heiress training)

After Creative Emogal took over as principal, she offered her to "tutor" (basically, just hang out with with no pressure) students, and ends up with Madeline's case
