I Own Nothing
AN: I wrote this back in February 2020 I believe. Just something came up with to stick it to Michael again lol.
AN2: Sorry it's been about a month since I posted anything. I have been in a very blah mood. I burned out on not just editing and writing, but reading. A lot of things have been going on even a bee that got in that never did find, but hasn't been seen since that kept me away for almost a week. I don't know if I'm allergic to a Japanese Hornet, but as a kid I got sick had go to the regular doctor. I didn't want to take any chances.
Summary: Michael finds out that he's no longer power of attorney over Brian.
Title: It's The Truth
Justin was sitting with the rest of the family at the hospital waiting on someone to come out to tell them how Brian was. Somebody had crashed into the Jeep after spinning out on ice. The hospital had called him, and he'd been in the diner at the time. Ted had given him a ride, but of course the others had followed him. He wasn't sure how it was going to go over though when it was discovered Brian had changed his Power of Attorney to him. There were a lot of things that might get found out today, which he was more concerned about Brian than that. Shit was going to fly he was sure, but he had the law on his side seeing as how the documents were binding.
"I'm looking for a Mr. Taylor-Kinney." A doctor said coming over looking at the people the nurse had said was his patient's family. "I need to talk to him about his partner." He added but was surprised when two people stood up.
"I'm him." Justin said giving Michael a look when he started to say something.
Of course, Michael didn't care about the look. "I'm his power of attorney if something needs to be signed." He said giving Justin a glare of his own. "He's just his stalker that never will leave. I don't know why Brian won't toss him out." He completely ignored the fact the doctor had said Taylor-Kinney too. He figured it was a mistake since the paper in his wallet proved he had the legal standing over Brian.
"Are you Justin Taylor-Kinney, Mr. Taylor-Kinney's husband?" The doctor asked looking at Michael.
"His what? There is no fucking way they are married. Brian just can't tell him to go away." Michael said in shock.
"Here, this is a copy of my power of attorney form for Brian. This is also my driver's license showing that I am Justin Taylor-Kinney." Justin said knowing that Michael would just keep arguing if he didn't show real proof. "Can I please know how badly Brian is hurt now? Or do I need to get our marriage license?" He asked.
"Of course." The doctor said telling Justin he didn't need the marriage license. "He's being prepped for surgery at the moment. His spleen ruptured in the crash, and we need to take it out. There are also some broken bones, but we have to wait until the swelling comes down before he can know if he will need to be operated on or if a cast can be put on his leg. His ribs were broken, but nothing broke off to injure his lungs. I just need you to sign this so we can operate." The doctor said handing Justin the form to be signed once he had finished talking.
Justin signed the paper handing it back over after he'd quickly read it. He didn't want any surprises but wanted Brian to get the help he needed. "Thank you and please let me know when I can see him." He added before the doctor left leaving him alone with a very confused bunch of people. Some of them looked furious at him too after all they'd just found out he'd gotten married to Brian without telling anyone. They had planned on eventually saying something, but Justin wished that they'd already told. He felt all alone looking at the people in the room.

"I don't know what you did to make those papers look real, but the ID is so fake no one would believe it except maybe the doctor who is blind." Michael said. "You are no more Brian's husband than..." He couldn't think of anything to add to it. "Brian doesn't believe in marriage or anything related to commitment. If anything happens to Brian it will be your fault for signing those papers illegally." He said with pure anger at Justin. "I'll fucking sue your ass too if he dies." He added.
"Six weeks, three days, fifteen hours, eleven minutes, and twenty some seconds." Justin said not backing down even when Michael got in his space. "That is how long I have been Brian's husband. You want to know how long I've been his POA, since I moved into the loft after the bashing. He's mine too by the way since then as well because and I hope you're listening when I say this, Michael. I am his best friend now, not you anymore. I love him, I know him inside and out in a way you never will get to know him. The day he asked me to marry him he said he wanted to spend the rest of his life married to his best friend. I was his prince who finally opened his heart up and that he loved me." Justin said not giving an inch because he wasn't going to be pushed around.
"That's bullshit, you are nothing but a liar. I'm his best friend and I will always be. I'll be glad when Brian finally throws you out like he should have done a long time ago. If you'd just died, then none of this would be a problem." Michael said, which caused everyone to stop talking. They'd been talking amongst their selves after what had been revealed while Michael and Justin were at a standoff.
"Michael Charles Novotny, how could you be so cruel. I can't even look at you right now wishing Sunshine dead. I don't know anything about the other, but how dare you say something like that to him." Debbie said so appalled at her son. "Brian's hurt and you're acting like everything revolves around you at the moment. It does not and I'll tell you something else, if this is how you're going to act then leave." She felt horrified actually seeing how Michael was behaving. She had been told by Justin before and Vic even that Michael acted like this. She had defended him then, but she couldn't do it this time.
"But Mom, he's lying." Michael whined looking at her shocked. "There is no way on earth that Brian would marry a whore."
"Do not but mom me, go. Someone will let you know when he comes out of surgery." Debbie said pointing towards the where the exit was. "You'd be a bigger whore than Justin would any day of the week." She added.

While Debbie had been making Michael leave Justin had left the others. He'd felt like a knife had been stabbed into his chest at what had been said. He knew that Michael hated him for some reason lately. He didn't know why; he'd thought that they'd become at least friendly to each other. Michael had gotten the people to back off at Woody's when he'd gone there looking for Brian that night. There had been other things he'd been nice about, but when it came to Brian it always ended with the pissing contest on who knew Brian better.
He still remembered that game night that Emmett had at the loft. It had ended with Michael screaming that the answer that was given on something wasn't right. It was Brian's favorite flavor of ice cream. Michael swore it was mint chocolate chip because it was his favorite as well and they'd shared many when Brian had stayed his house as teens. Even when Brian had said no that he had never liked it only ate it because that was the only ice cream Michael would offer up, Michael had said it wasn't true. Brian had made the comment he should know what his favorite flavor of ice cream was and it sure as fuck wasn't mint anything. He despised it and couldn't even stomach the smell of the shit. He had never said what the actual flavor was however Justin had told said it to Brian who had grinned and said he got it right. The game ended after that because Brian kicked the others out and they ate ice cream off each other.
Justin sighed looking down at his hand. No one had even noticed the ring he'd been wearing on his left hand for the last six weeks; at least not the family here. He'd had people outside of the gang ask him about it and of course he'd had his mom, sister, and Daphne there as witness. He would be happy when Brian was awake, and he could see him. He was scared and hadn't really had the time to process all of it. He was still hoping it was some kind of nightmare and Brian was going to wake him up soon. He had called his mom on the way here hoping she could show because he needed at least one person for actual support. She'd promised to come as soon as she could but was at a showing most of the day. He'd made another phone call after that.
"Justin, how's Brian?" Daphne asked coming up to her best friend putting her arms around him.
She'd followed him after hearing the tail end of what happened in the waiting area. She'd just gotten there when Michael had wished Justin was dead. She'd tried getting Justin's attention, but he'd walked away so fast. She didn't blame him though because if Debbie hadn't said anything she sure as hell would have. She still wanted to strangle the man child since that was what he acted like. She didn't like anyone besides Emmett out of them and Gus of course. Brian's son was adorable, which of course he called Justin Dada too.
"He's in surgery. Thanks for showing, I needed at least one friendly face here. My mom's at a showing, Emmett's planning a wedding, and Vic's home with a cold right now." Justin said holding on tight needing the support.
"It's going to be okay. Of course, I'd come, Brian and I sat together when you were in the hospital. I wanted to tell you so badly about him being there. Your mom seemed to freak back then, and I didn't want to be barred from seeing you. I thought Brian told you when you found him." Daphne said.
"I know, I already told you I'm not mad about it. I just need my mind to be elsewhere right now. I did get the rest of the pictures back from the ceremony before I got the call." Justin said before he handed Daphne the photo album, he'd been holding it close.
It was the one thing he'd grabbed besides his phone when he left the diner. He had needed it close to him as a reminder. He also needed to remember that no matter what Michael said he had Brian. Brian was his husband and the pictures proved that he didn't dream this up. It had been one of the happiest days of his life. Brian's proposal had been another happy moment because it had come from his heart.
"That's one way to pass the time, come on, we'll go sit away from the others but out there in case the nurse or doctor comes back early." Daphne said taking Justin's hand with her free one giving it a squeeze.
"Thanks." Justin replied, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to face the others again so soon.
"I promise you I will be a mama bear if they try messing with my guys." Daphne added with a smile.

It was over an hour later before Justin and the others were informed that Brian was out of surgery. Once he was in his own room Justin was led back to see him. There were some bruises and cuts, but he knew they'd fade from Brian's face. He was sure he was going to hate them though. He sat there holding Brian's hand. He had put Brian's wedding band back on. It had looked wrong not seeing it on his husband's hand. It looked wrong just seeing Brian lying here in the bed hurt. He knew it had to look close to this when he'd been in the coma and Brian had visited him.
He had set off to the side with Daphne in the waiting room looking at the photo album with her. He'd needed it so much feeling lost after what had happened. He had been glad that no one had come over to them. He had gotten looks though especially Lindsay who kept glaring daggers at him. Daphne had at one point actually flipped the woman off. Justin had hidden his smile seeing the shock on Lindsay's face. He didn't want to deal with all of it now. The only thing he wanted was for Brian to wake up and be able to go home soon. He hoped he didn't have to have another surgery on his leg if something was seriously broken.
Daphne had told him to think positive thoughts. Brian was going to be just fine because he was just as stubborn as he was. It was a relief that Daphne and Brian got along so well. She'd been so happy when they'd gotten married promising to have any kids they wanted. Brian had looked startled at first at the idea, but he was sure he'd wear him down in time to maybe one or two. He had convinced him they should get married, and Brian had once been against that idea. He was sure that Daphne had something to do with helping with that marriage proposal. The song that had been playing right before Brian had asked him had been Save The Last dance. It had also been the one they danced to at their wedding. It had become their song which he might not be able to remember prom itself, but their wedding had been perfect he thought. That he remembered and hoped to everything he never forgot. They had it on video if he ever did though, so he'd be able to see it.
"I love you and when you wake up I'm going to get you for scaring me so badly. I'm glad you're mostly in one piece. I could really use you right now for our secret got spilt. The fact we're married and have been for a while. I know one didn't take it well at all, but I'd already told you it would happen. I didn't wait for the others' opinions. No one here sees the you that I do that's, minus Daphne of course. She's been sitting with me, so I didn't go stir crazy." Justin said moving his thumb over Brian's hand being careful of the IV.
"I'm sorry. Didn't plan on being here." Brian said in a low voice squeezing Justin's hand. He gave Justin a small smile too knowing that he had to of been scared. He could imagine how bad too since he'd been the one where Justin was months back. "Don't even know what happened."
"Someone slid across the road on a sheet of ice losing control and hit you." Justin said with his own smiling seeing and hearing that Brian was awake. "I'm so happy you're awake. I better get the doctor so he can explain more." He added before he leaned over kissing Brian. He put everything he felt into the kiss for the man he loved.
"That's a good way to wake up with kisses." Brian said when they pulled away for air. He couldn't really feel much with the medicine still in his body. "Just sit here for a moment before you go. I was coming home to tell you that I made partner, and we were going to Vermont. I'm sorry we can't go, Sunshine. Could you forgive me?" He asked knowing how much Justin had wanted to go. It was a belated honeymoon for them after all.
"Vermont's not going anywhere Brian. Of course, I forgive you, it's not like you did this on purpose." Justin said brushing his nose against Brian's before he kissed the two cuts on his face and the bruise under his eye. "I'm so happy that you made partner though, my loving husband is going to rock at the job." He kissed Brian again trying to be careful, but he was beyond happy and wanted to show him how much he loved him.
"Go get the doctor before I pull something by trying to ravish you right now." Brian teased smiling at Justin. "You are the best friend and husband I could ask for, Sunshine." He said with a happy sign. "I love you too by the way if I didn't tell you this morning before I got on the plane."
"You did plus I know you love me every day." Justin said before letting go of Brian's hand to go get the doctor.
