On to the story!
Summerslam: August 17, 2014
It was finally here, Summerslam, and it felt like the whole of LA was on fire and ready for the Biggest Party of the Summer. Everywhere they went they were bombarded with fans, coming out of the hotel, stopping for coffee, getting to the arena, everywhere. If she didn't know any better, she would have said that the fans were more hyped for this than they were WrestleMania. However, there was a good chance that she just didn't notice the fanfare at the Show of Shows since she had been in a blind panic trying to make sure everything went as planned.
Which was why she found it so weird that she felt pretty relaxed today, well other then when she thought about the fact that she was going to have to lie to Dean about the lumberjack thing.
Don't worry about that right now. She told herself as she smiled for a photo with a few young fans at their meet and greet. When they pulled away from the pose, she turned towards them. "Make sure it looks good." She told them.
They took their phone from one of the crew members who was helping out today and looked at it. "It's great thank you."
"Good, I would hate for someone to blink at the wrong time or something."
The group looked back at the phone really quick before sighing. "We're good."
"Prefect." She waved them off.
Taking the small reprieve, she got between fans; she took a quick drink of her water. Her eyes running toward Dean who was already greeting the next group. Ok there was one more thing that seemed to want to ruin the relaxed mood and that was whatever was going on with Dean. Even though he was playing nice and being the Superstar for the fans she could tell he still hadn't been able to shake the fuck that he had been in yesterday.
At this point she was wondering if it was just because of this match tonight. It had to be more, right? Because if it wasn't then he shouldn't have got so upset over the fact that she decided to sit next to Renee instead of him at breakfast. Now, he didn't say anything about it, but he seemed to be irritated from the moment Renee asked her to sit next to her.
"Angel!" Dean called her over as he moved to pose for another photo. "You coming or what?"
"Be right there." She put her bottle down before quickly moving to join them. Just as she went to stand on the far end, putting the fans between the two of them, a hand on her arm caught her and pulled her around the group. She was suddenly smashed between them and Dean.
It took her a second to get ahold of herself, but she put on the best smile she could for the picture. She really hoped that it didn't look too fake in the photo.
As they said goodbye, she looked up at Dean. "Are you ok?"
He glanced down at her. "Yeah why?" He didn't let her answer him before he turned his attention towards the next fans in line.
"You just seem a little off."
"Well, it is a big day." He said soft but stern.
"Right."
He turned towards the man who was coming up to them and smirked. The guy instantly reached out and shook Dean's hand. "Dude, it's so nice to meet you both." He said with a huge smile on his face.
Getting herself back into 'work' mode, she smiled back at the man. "Same to you." She said allowing herself to be drawn into a side hug. "Thank you for coming out to see us tonight."
Amazingly, the rest of the meet and greet went off without another hitch. Though that didn't stop her from keeping an eye on Dean the entire time. She was looking for the little signs that only she would notice, the aggressive gym popping, the way he would rake his fingers through his hair every now and then even the way his eyes would snap to her when a fan put themselves between the two of them.
These signs told her that something was racking around in the brain of his, she just didn't know what and it was starting to worry her. If she could only read his mind maybe she could figure it out. Though knowing Dean, it could be a bunch of small things that were poking and prodding him, or it could be one large thought that he couldn't shake.
Worry about him, she almost forgot about her own problem, that was until she finally able to pull her phone out as they made their way back to the backstage.
"Shit." She mumbled to herself. It was almost time for the Kick-Off Show, which meant that Renee was going to be on the panel right now, and unable to help her plan out whatever asinine plan she was going to use to weasel around Dean.
As they pushed past the 'wall' that separated the public space from the backstage, she quickly pocketed her phone and looked up to see a few steps in front of her. Pushing forward, she fell in step with him. Looking up, she saw that his brows were drawn tightly, clearly lost in his head again.
"Hey." She nudged him with her elbow and frowned a bit when he jumped. Their eyes met and she swiftly put on a smile and grabbed onto his arm. "Are you excited?"
"What?" He asked as he slowed his pace so she could walk next to him easier, which she appreciated since her legs were nowhere as long as his.
"Are you excited? For tonight?"
"Kind of." He sighed. "I can't really put a name on what I'm feeling, but excitement is part of it."
"So more like a mix of feelings, huh?" She asked hoping not to give away that she was trying to poke into his mind.
He nodded. "That's a good way of putting it."
Watching his face, she could see the mixture flickering over him, but she couldn't pinpoint any of it. She bit the inside of her cheek, she wanted to pry ore but knew that it might just make everything worse, she pulled away. "Well, put all those emotions into your fight and you'll win without any trouble."
She spotted the corner of his mouth twitch into a smile, though it quickly faded as they passed the gorilla. His eyes snapped towards the wall. Curious, she turned to where he was looking and saw Cesaro standing there with his arms crossed against his bare chest.
As the two men just stood there staring at each other, she could feel a strange tension that filled the space.
"Dean." The Swish man nodded.
"Cesaro." He nodded back.
Blinking, she looked back and forth between the two men. She realized that the feeling wasn't tension, it was a hesitant respect that she wondered where it came from. If her member served her the two men didn't like each other.
"Uh." Dean cleared his throat. "Have a good match out there."
"You too." Cesaro said before smirking. "Though, I can't say that I don't want you to fall out of the ring a few times, that way I can throw you back in."
"Ah, you're a lumberjack." Dean said his eyes lit up.
"I am."
"Guess I should known that." He said shuffling on his feet. "Would be it too much to ask you not to go to hard on me?"
"You fall out on my side of the ring, and I'm not holding back."
Dean smirked. "That's what I thought."
Angel suddenly heard the noise around them pick up. Looking around, she watched as all the crew members rushed around trying to get everything read. The Kick-Off Show must be starting.
"Five minutes warning." Hank's voice proved her right. "We need Ric Flair to the Kick-Off Panel."
"Bringing him out now." Someone answered him through the radio.
"Good. Also, is Vince on his way down to the gorilla?"
"He is, he just left the production truck."
"Copy, standby for count down to action."
Turning back to the strangely civil conversation, she pulled on Dean's arm, getting his attention instantly. "They just made the five-minute warning for the Kick-Off Show."
"Right." He nodded before looking back at Cesaro. "I guess we'll see you later."
Cesaro shrugged before pushing himself off the wall. "Guess so."
Without another word, she and Dean started away from the gorilla. Once they were out of ear shot, Angel did a little hop step to get in front of Dean. "Since when are you and Cesaro friends?"
"I wouldn't go that far." He told her slowing so he didn't run her over.
"Ok, since when are you two on speaking terms."
He shrugged. "Since Friday, I suppose."
"Oh? What happened to make that happen?"
He rubbed the back of his neck. "You could say that after our match be developed respect for each other."
She made a mental note to rewatch the match. "That's good." He hummed in agreement. "It's a step up from everyone hating you."
"That's true."
"Maybe this is the first step to making more friends."
"I don't know about that." He shook his head. "We might be able to earn some more respect, but making friends is a bit of a big leap."
"You never know." She teased as she fell back to his side. To make 'friends' would be amazing. She wouldn't have to worry so much about having a big red target on their backs. Maybe they might even be able to use the locker room again instead of being relegated to the hallway. What a concept.
When they finally got back to their spot, Roman was already back from his meet and greet. "What the hell happened to the two of you?" He asked. "I saw you guys leave the meet and greet before I did and yet somehow I beat you here."
"Nothing just stopped to chat to Cesaro."
"Cesaro?" Roman's brows rose in surprise, at least she wasn't the only one who was confused by the change in the two men's relationship.
Dean plopped down in his chair. "Yeah."
"So." Roman shook his head. "Did they ever send you the finalized card for tonight."
"Oh good question." She said pulling out her phone once more. Pulling up her work email, she saw that she had one new message, one that was sent about thirty minutes ago. The subject line said 'finilized schedule'. "Just dropped."
"So nice of them to give you a heads up, huh."
"Isn't it." She opened the email. "Alright, so the finalized schedule for tonight's show starts with Dolph Ziggler verses The Miz for the IC Title."
"Wait." Roman looked puzzled. "There's an IC Title match tonight? Who even has the belt."
"The Miz." She answered.
"Since when?"
She shrugged. Honestly, she had been too worried about Dean and Roman to really keep tabs on that.
"Damn, you would have thought we would have heard more about that."
"You would have thought." She said looking back at her phone. "So, after that is Paige verses AJ Lee for the Divas' Title." She hoped that Paige worked out whatever was bothering her because the woman had been acting all sorts of crazy for the last few weeks and it was really concerning. "Then it's Rusev Verses Jack Swagger, followed up by Dean's match."
"Fifth match of the night. Not bad." Roman smacked Dean's arm. "You're the palate cleanser in the middle of the card."
"They just want to give the fans something excited after the stupid flag match." Dean grunted.
"The back half of the show is Bray verses Chris Jericho, then Stephanie verses Brie. Which leaves Roman's match and the main event."
Roman let out a curse. "Seconds to last match of the night." He slumped into his chair dramatically. "I'm going to be so fucking bored just sitting here for like the whole show."
"Just about yeah."
"Damn it. Should have brought a cot so I could have taken a nap."
"Didn't get enough beauty sleep last night." Dean asked bending down to start relacing his boots. "I mean I didn't want to say it, but I noticed a little more ugly on your mug this morning."
"Ha ha." Roman rolled his eyes. "Fourth grade called and asked for their joke back."
"Good one." Dean pursed his lips. "When do you graduate from fifth grade?"
Giving the list another once over to make sure she didn't miss anything, she listened to the boys picking on each other. She prayed that it was a sign that Dean was slowly coming out his head.
Just as she was about to put her phone away, she caught her reflection in the screen, her eyes widened at the dark spots on her neck. "Oh." She jumped. "Crap, I have to run down to hair and makeup."
"For what?" Dean asked.
"To get your handy work covered up." She gestured to her neck. "Not sure how close to the PG line hickeys and bite marks are, but I don't really want to find out tonight."
A stern look covered his face. "Angel, you're not coming out to the ring with me." He told her, his voice wavering for just a second as if he didn't like the words that were coming out his mouth. "Remember?"
"I know." She said as a twinge of guilt hit her. She been wanting to avoid talking about whether or not she was going to be at ringside for the match, because now that the subject came up, it meant she was going to have to lie. "But you know when you win I'm coming down there to celebrate with you."
"And if I lose?"
"Well then I'm coming down to pick your ass up."
The look on his face softened as he snickered. "Tell Leslie that I said I'm sorry."
"You want me to lie to her?"
"I'm not lying. I am sorry. Sorry that she's going to have her work cut out for her."
"Ah."
"Did you think I was saying that I was sorry that I left marks on you?" He chuckled. "Fuck no. If it were up to me, I would have left more."
She rolled her eyes at him. "I'll be sure to pass your apology along."
"Thank you, Darlin,',"
When she got to the small room being used by the hair and makeup department, Angel peeked her head in to see that no one else was there. Thank god. She let out a deep breath as she stepped into the room. Though she knew better than to count her blessing so soon, the last time she thought she would be alone, Paige and Naomi came in while she was getting her make up done.
"Angel?" Leslie smiled at her as soon as the woman noticed she was standing there. "What can I do for you?"
Her face went hot as she leaned her head to the side to show off her bruised-up neck. "He said he was sorry this time."
"Oh, did he?" She sighed as she patted the chair in front of her. Angel quickly walked over and sat down. Leslie reached forward and moved her hair to the side. "Damn, he really did a number on you this time."
"That's why he told me to apologize."
"Well, lucky for him, he's not the only one who likes to ravish the loved ones. So, I've had tons of practice covering up some hickeys."
"So, I'm not the only one?"
"Oh god no." Leslie laughed. "Most of the roster comes to see me for some cover ups. Even some of the men." Angel watched as she carefully set up. "Also, I'm just glad I only have to cover up what's on your neck, and not anywhere else on your body." She mumbled something about skimpy outfits under her breath.
Stifling a laugh, Angel relaxed in her chair. It made her feel better that she wasn't the only one who came down here to get hickeys covered up.
"So, are you guys excited for tonight." Leslie stepped into her space to start her work.
Angel squirmed a bit as the makeup brush tickled her. "Yeah, for the most part."
"Oh? Why for the most part."
"There's a lot riding on tonight's matches." She sighed. "Roman is facing Randy and that could go very bad if he's not careful. And with Dean…Well anyone who even has the slightest idea about what's been going on with him could see just how important it is for him to win tonight."
"True. Them are some heavy stakes tonight." She agreed.
"And we're feeling it."
"I'm sure." Leslie said with a chuckle. "And if the rumors that have been going around backstage are true then I'm sure that pressure is why you have this nice dark bite mark on you."
Angel blushed. "Might have been part of it."
"The other part is just that that man of yours is head over heels for you and he's making sure that everyone knows it."
"That I'm not so sure of…." Say it. She could hear Dean's raspy, pleasure infused voice begging her to say that she belonged to him. Her eyes flickered to the mirror in front of her, and watched with almost remorse as Leslie hid the marks on her neck. "Leslie."
"Uh?"
"Can you do me a favor?"
"Sure."
D.D.D.
Dean splashed water in his face as he looked at himself in the mirror. "Time to get your head out of your ass, Ambrose." He gritted his teeth. "You can't fuck tonight up."
Summerslam had officially started about forty minutes ago, and if Angel was correct with her timings, he had about twenty minutes until his own match, and yet instead of warming himself up, he was standing in the bathroom giving himself a damn peptalk. Pretty sure that normal peptalks weren't this self-loathing. He sighed. Great, you can't even do this right.
He clenched his hand on the side of the sink. He could feel the gross way that the now wet tape clung to his hands. Looking down at the normally white tape that quickly turning a grey that rivaled Luke Harper's sweat-stained shirt. He groaned. He was going to have to redo them.
He shook his head as his eyes landed on the mirror again. "Focus." He took a deep breath, trying to clear his head, though that was easier said than done.
Over the last couple of days, he had spent so much energy trying to push away the feeling and thoughts that had been messing around in his brain, that he hadn't even realized that he would have to go through the very thing that started them so soon.
He knew it shouldn't shock him. From the moment that he had picked the lumberjack stipulation, he knew that Angel couldn't come out to the ring with him. It was too dangerous, too many enemies in one place. However, just thinking about it made the panic that he was feeling on Friday come back, full force.
No! He yelled at himself. Angel not being at ringside tonight was the safest option, she could get hurt and he wasn't going to let that happen. He would just have to deal with it.
If you could deal with it, you wouldn't be in here talking to yourself in the mirror like this.
Glaring at himself he barely heard the door to the bathroom open. Jumping, he pushed himself from the skin and tried his best not to look like he was having inner crisis. He watched through the mirror as the guy who had come in rushed over to one of urinals, mumbling something about finally getting a break.
Trying to not draw any attention to himself, Dean grabbed a handful of paper towels before slipping out of the bathroom. Once out int the hall, he 'dried' off his hands the best he could before tossing the towels into the first garbage bin that he could find.
One his way back, he tried to pay attention to everything happening around, at least enough that it would keep his mind preoccupied and less likely to spin out of control. That, however, only worked for so long. The spot that they had claimed was pushed back into the dark corner of the arena, as always. But that meant there wasn't anything back here to keep his attention. He could already feel himself starting to spiral back.
As soon as he could hear Angel and Roman's voices he froze and plastered himself against the wall. Closing his eyes, he leaned his head back against the cold concert wall. He tried to focus on them, tried to listen to what they were saying, but he couldn't quite make it out. Whatever they were talking about had Angel laughing. His lips curled up at the sound. It was good to know that no matter what mood he was in that, that sound could always make him smile. It made him want to record her laughing so he could play it over and over.
Creepy. A voice in his head said.
He shook his head trying to knock the thought out before it could begin to fester. We're not doing this.
Clicking his tongue, he opened his eyes and steeled himself against the strangely bright lights that lined the hall. Enough was enough. He was done with it. Whatever fucked up thing his mind was cocking up he was going to push past it. He needed to focus on his match tonight. If he loses because he was stuck in his head, he would never forgive himself.
Pushing off the wall, he shoved all his feelings down, way down until they were just an echo in his mind. Sure, they would come back up but that was future Dean's problem.
Rounding the corner, he saw Roman and Angel sitting super close together as they looked down at Angel's phone, which judging by the sounds coming out it, they were watching the show.
"You know I could commandeer a TV." He said making them look up at him.
"Nah, we're good." She said her eyes flicking back down to her phone.
Without another word, he slumped into his chair next to Angel and started to pick at his tape. As he worked off the first layer his eyes drifted to the small screen to see the tail end of AJ Lee verses Paige. His eyes went wide as he watched Paige walking off with the belt.
"Paige won?" He questioned.
"She did." Roman nodded. "And quickly, I think it was only a five-minute match."
"Damn." He shook his head as he started on the second layer of tape. "I would have put my last dollar on AJ for that one."
"Really?" Angel peeked up at that.
"Yeah, no offence to Paige but she's still green." He explained. "She's good, really good but she still pretty new while AJ is seasoned. Plus, I'm pretty sure that AJ's first loss was only due to her underestimating Paige."
"I would agree with you, if this was the same Paige that debuted, but it wasn't. She was a different beast today."
Angel sighed, her eyes dropping to the floor for a second, the look on her face was almost that of someone who was mourning their friend. "He's right, she snapped."
"Ah." Dean clicked his tongue. "That could make all the difference."
"It was crazy verses crazy."
"I'm worried about her." Angel said as she bent over so she could gently set her phone on the floor before standing up. "I hope this win helps her." She said walking over to their bags.
"It could." He said, balling up all the ripped and ruined tape. "Or it could also make her worse."
"Don't tell me that."
"Sorry Babygirl, he's telling the truth."
"I know." Angel appeared to his side, and he felt her tap against his arm. Looking down at her hand, he saw that she was holding the two rolls of tape.
"Thanks." He took them from her.
Returning his smile, she sat back down and picked her phone up from the floor. "I just can't believe how suddenly she changed."
"A huge blow to the ego can do that." Dean said from example.
"Angel!" Renee's voice sounded as the blonde woman came skidding around the corner. Glancing up, he drew his brows together as he took in her slightly haggard state. She looked as if she had booked it down the hall.
"Everything good?" He asked.
She nodded before turning fully to Angel. "I was just making my way past the gorilla when I overheard them say they were going to calling for the lumberjacks soon."
"Oh? Oh!" Angel practically jumped out of her chair. "Shit."
"I wouldn't worry about it." Dean said tapping her leg. "We still got one more match before mine."
"Yeah." Roman nodded. "I'm sure they're just gathering the lumberjacks together so that way they don't have to chase anyone down."
"Sure, that makes sense." Angel said her eyes snapping to Renee. "But…"
"But," Renee started over whatever Angel was going to say. "The girls wanted to throw like a watch party for your match."
"A watch party?"
"The entire locker room is excited to watch you beat the shit out of Seth."
"Not surprising, it's going to a hell of a sight." Roman chuckled. "Can I come."
"It's in the girls locker room so I don't think so."
"Aw, not fair."
"Sorry big guy." Renee said. "Maybe next time."
"I'll hold you to that."
When Angel took a step forward, Dean couldn't stop himself from rising out of his seat. His sudden movement seemed to catch her off guard as she paused and looked up at him. The look on her face had him cocking his own head. She seemed almost nervous.
Something's not right.
As a sweet smile took over her face, he noticed the deep breath that she took before stepping closer to him. "Be careful out there." She grabbed his hoodie strings and pulled gently on them. He took it as a sign that she wanted him to lean towards her, which he gladly did. "You got this. Kick his ass for all of us."
The kiss was short and sweet and when she pulled back, he found himself chasing after her. "I'll be rooting for you." He then felt her getting pulled away from him, a feeling that had him itching to sink his fingers into her hips and lock her against him.
"Come on." Renee whined. "The girls are waiting."
It took Angel disappearing down the hallway for him to catch up to whatever just happened.
"You alright there?" He heard Roman ask.
"Yeah." He answered automatically as he slumped back into the chair behind him. "Angel didn't mention anything about this watch party to you, did she?"
"Nope, not a word."
"Huh?"
Something's not right.
She would have told him about something like that, wouldn't she?
Then why didn't she?
I don't know.
Why would she hide that from him. It wasn't like he would care. In fact, if it wasn't for the fact that he had a strange feeling in his gut, he would have been flattered that the girls wanted to watch him beat the shit out of Seth.
You're overthinking. He told himself as he looked down at the rolls of tape in his hand. He couldn't let something this stupid get under his skin, he told himself that he would deal with all this later. He needed to focus on his match, and only on his match. "Right." He put the white roll behind his legs while he slowly undid the black one.
"Did you say something?"
"Nope."
Dean was almost thankful that at this point in his life he could wrap his wrists in his dreams, because try as hard as he could, he couldn't focus on his task.
"Well if your match will be starting today, I guess this mean's I should get my as down to catering so I can watch your match on something bigger than a fucking phone." Roman shifted in his seat.
"Might be a good idea" Dean answered him. "It would give you a better look at the mess that will be Seth's face once I get done with it."
"Can't miss that."
"You would be a fool if you do."
Standing, Roman looked at him. "You really for this?" He asked putting his hands out.
Dean glanced at it before ripping the last piece of his tape from the roll. "I'm always ready." He took the hand and let the larger man pull him out of his seat. As soon as he was up on his feet, he felt a hand clasp around the back of head pulling him in, so that his forehead touched Roman's.
They locked eyes.
"You better kick his ass good." Roman told him, almost in a warning. "One hit for every day since he stabbed us in the back."
"So, I got to make sure to get about seventy-six hits in." He said making Roman raise a brow. "Not that I've been counting or anything."
"Seventy-six," He said pulling back from their embrace. "Damn." He could see Roman processing that information. "Can't believe it's been that long already."
"Feels like it was yesterday."
"It does." He shuffled in his spot. Letting out another curse, Roman looked towards the floor. "Do me a favor."
"Yeah."
"Add a few hits in for me."
"Would have done it even if you didn't tell me too." He said as felt the bit of the bitter anger, that had been simmering in his chest since June second. "So, I'll round up the hit count to hundred to make sure I get a few slicks in for all of us."
"Prefect."
He knew that Roman had experienced the same pain, the same hurt that he had. Knew that if it wasn't for the fact that Roman had pushed himself towards the championship that he would be just as consumed with hatred for Seth, to the point that they might have had to fight each other to see how got to go after their 'brother'. But unlike him, Roman was able to hide all that and it see it slip out right now, to see all the pain brimming in his eyes, stoked the fire. The simmer was quickly becoming a raging boil.
"We need Dean Ambrose in the gorilla."
His body shot straight as his jaw clicked tight. He turned to put the tape away, he just was about to tuck them back into his bad, his eyes landed on something that made his body go from red hot with anger to cold in second.
Sitting on top of the pile of their bags was a hoodie that looked identical to the one he was wearing. Angel's hoodie. He drew his brows together, hadn't she been excited to wear it today? Did she forget it? Should he run it to her?
Maybe she left it on purpose.
Why would she do that?
She's ashamed. Doesn't want to be marked with your symbol.
He looked at the DA mark that seemed to glare up at him. She made it, why would be ashamed of it?
"We need Dean Ambrose in the gorilla." He heard the voice behind getting more aggressive.
Letting the tape fall out of his hand, he spun around on his heels and started after the crew member who was waiting for him.
Maybe it's not the symbol that she's ashamed of.
She's ashamed of me?
Of course. Who would be proud of a street mut like us? He could almost see the younger version of himself standing in front of him with his arms crossed and the 'fuck the world' attitude plastered on his face.
He scowled at the picture that was purely in his own head. We've come a long a way since we were you.
Are you sure about that? You're still talking to yourself like a crazy person.
Fuck off. He pulled himself from his own mind and blinked when he found himself standing in the gorilla while Seth's music was blasting from the speakers. Which meant that in just a short few seconds it would be his turn to head to the ring.
Taking a deep breath, he grabbed a water off the table behind him, he opened it quickly and poured some over his head. You got this. He shook his head out like a dog before putting the now half empty bottle back on the table.
The riff of his own music kicked in and it was like a switch was flipped in his mind. Cracking his neck, he started through the curtains and onto the stage. Ignoring all of the people around the ring, his eyes landed instantly on the man inside of it.
Inhaling through his nose, he took a moment to take everything in, letting it all pump him up for what was about to happen. He smirked.
When he got to the bottom of the ramp, did his eyes finally land lumberjacks. Across the ring, he could see Ryback and Axel standing next to Health Slater, Rowan, and Luke Harper, which wasn't a surprise. He knew they all had their own gripes against him and Seth.
Glancing to his left, he saw Cesaro, Titus O'Neil, and the Rhodes brothers, against not too shocking. He then looked to his left and spotted Bo Dallas, Damien Sandow, Fandango, RVD, Kofi and what was kind of shocking, Sin Cara.
His attention fell to the group on people that was between him and ring, he stopped dead in his tracks. Standing in the middle of Big E, Jimmy and Jey Uso and R-Truth was none other than the woman who had his mind all messed up, Angel Miles.
Locking his eyes on her, he watched as she drew her bottom lip into her mouth and batted her lashes. It looked like she was trying to look innocent.
Pursing her lips, he walked up to her.
"Don't worry about her man." He heard one of the Usos say, he wasn't quite paying enough attention to figure it out. "We'll take care of her."
"He's right, we got her."
Nodding, he kept approaching Angel until they were chest to chest. "Surprise." She said with a coy smile.
He hummed. "So, this is what all of that with Renee was about."
"Yeah." She admitted. "I knew that if I told you about this, you would have stopped me."
He brough his hand up and put it under her jaw. "For good reason." He ran his thumb along her jaw. "It's dangerous for you to be out here." His eyes flickered to all the men around the ring again.
He realized suddenly realized that it seemed like all off the lumberjacks were sorted, the half closest to him were the ones that he 'trusted' the ones that Angel had roundup, the ones closest to the announce tables were the once he did not trust at all.
Before he could wonder if that was done on purpose, he felt a hand on his. Looking down he saw Angel holding onto the hand that Dean was holding her face with. "I'll be ok."
As much as he wanted to argue with her and tell her to backstage right now, he couldn't. A weight had lifted from him since he noticed that she was out here.
"You know, you forgot your hoodie backstage."
"I didn't forget it, I left it backstage on purpose."
He frowned.
"It would be took hot to wear both yours and mine at the same time."
Almost instantly he shrugged out his own hoodie and passed it to her. More weight lifted off him as she quickly put it on. Though as she readjusted the large hoodie that gulfed her, his eyes landed on her neck. His eyes went wide. Peeking out from the collar of her shirt was a dark bruise. A hickey that was left uncovered. For everyone to see.
Bending down, he captured her mouth in a kiss. As he pressed her against his body, he was sure that they were pushing the PG line but fuck them.
A.A.A.
Angel grabbed onto Dean's arm as she hung on for dear life while he kissed her. This had gone better than she thought it would. She thought Dean would be fuming mad knowing that she not only signed up be a lumberjack behind his bad, but she lied to him about it.
However, that seemed farthest from the truth. When he finally noticed her, she had been chomping at the bit. Instead of the look of disappointment and anger that she had been waiting for, she saw relief.
When they pulled away from each other, she felt him touch her neck. She shivered as his fingers grazed over the sensitive mark on her neck.
"Come on already!" She jumped at Seth's voice coming from behind her.
Dean's head snapped up, and his hand fell from her. A growl like noise came from him as he kissed the top of her head. He then walked around her and slid into the ring.
Taking a breath to settle herself down, she turned to see Dean heading right for Seth. "Wait for the bell." She heard the ref stopped him.
The bell rang and instantly the two men where at each other's throat. Smashing their fists into each other heads. The crowd cheered loudly as the fist started to fly.
"Damn, he's really feeling it tonight." She heard Jimmy chuckle.
She nodded at the twin before she turned back to the action, though what caught her eyes instead was the two men across the way, Rowan and Harper. She hadn't really come into contact with them since The Shield fought the Wyatts and having them this close brought up some bad feelings. She was glad that they were stationed on the far side of the ring from her.
Dean let out a loud yell made her look up from the two hillbilly men on the other side. She was slightly taken back to see him stalking after Seth who was scrambling to get to his feet in the corner of the ring instead of the other way around. Leave it to Deal to give a shout while being in control of the match.
After ramming his shoulder into the man's gut, Dean started to stomp on Seth over and over until he was plastered to the mat.
"Jesus."
"Loco."
"I would hate to be Seth right now."
Angel blinked as she eyed up the men around her. It was strange to have other people out at ringside, at least other people who weren't exactly on the opponent team. And hearing them comment on the match was even more off putting then she would have thought.
"What do you say Seth?" The ref asked as Dean choked him with a boot to the neck.
Right no DQ. She reminded herself as she wondered why the ref wasn't yelling at him to get Seth out of the corner.
Although the ref didn't need to tell Dean that as he just threw Seth across the ring like a sack of potatoes.
Seth hit the mat hard, and almost instantly started to roll away from Dean, though when he got to the ropes, the lumberjacks on that side went to town and stopped him from rolling out of the ring.
"Come on!" Seth yelled at them before he turned back around only to be flatted by a hit from Dean.
"Oh."
"Ouch."
"That's what you get for turning your back on your opponent." She stated.
"Right!" Big E shook his head. "It's like he forgot that Dean was there or something."
When Seth made it to his feet, Dean hit him again, this time knocking him up and over the ropes on the far side from them.
As if they were a bunch of piranhas who smelt blood, all of the lumberjacks moved towards him, only to shift back to their spots once RybAxel and the Wyatt boys threw him back into the ring.
Seth landed right in front of Dean who quickly reached down and grabbed his both his legs and raised them into the air. Without even looking at Seth, Dean manhandled him around until he was laying on his back.
Lifting his right leg as high as he could, he stomped down on Seth's stomach, before grinding his boot into him, like he was trying to squish a bug. Seth let out a long dragged out groan and had her cringing.
"Dean is on a roll." Jey said before leaning on her.
She hummed in agreement as she watched Dean try to switch up his hold on Seth into what looked like a Regal Stretch but Seth was able to crawl out of it. However, he was not able to crawl away from Dean.
Dean grabbed Seth's hair and yanked his head back far enough that he could reach forward and grabbed him by the nose. He held him there for a bit before slamming him face first down into the mat.
The urge to cheer for Dean built up in her system, and she almost let it out, however her mind rushed back to the little 'meeting' the lumberjacks had before coming out the ring.
Alright, know that everyone knows where they will be standing. Hank told them. Remember your job is to keep the fight in the ring. It doesn't matter if it's Seth or Dean who end up outside the ring, you have to get back in. Meaning, you can't pick sides. No favoritism out there. His eyes had landed on her.
When the meeting finished, Hank pulled her aside. I know it's going to be hard for you not to show favorites out there, which is fine. I know for a fact that RybAxel and the Wyatts are going to be favoriting Seth out there, but at least try to keep the cheering down to a minimum.
She really was trying. Though all that effort went out the window as Seth kicked Dean in the stomach before throwing him through the ropes.
"Dean." She cried out.
Thankfully, the man landed on his feet. Though as soon as he did, the lumberjacks were on him. As soon as hands were on him, Dean spun around and shoved away the first person he could get his hands on which just so happened to be Fandango and Sandow. As soon as there was any type of separation, he pulled himself back into the ring.
As soon as he was back in, he went right back after Seth, knocking him down to the matt before pummeling him with hits to head.
"Leave it to Dean to throw himself back into the ring." Jimmy laughed.
"It's like we're only here to stop Seth from running away or something."
"It's like that's the whole reason he chooses this stipulation." She added as Dean chased Seth into the corner.
However, before he could get his hands on Seth again, the man grabbed him around the head and slammed him into the turnbuckles. Come on, Dean. Get out of there. She hissed.
The hit had Dean stumbling which was just what Seth needed as he kicked him out of the ring once again. Though this time, Dean didn't land on his feet.
Again the lumberjacks were drawn by the new blood in the water, except this time it wasn't as simple as getting him on his feet and back into the ring. Fandango, Sandow, and Bo Dallas got their payback. It took Kofi, RVD, Sin Cara and amazingly RybAxel to stop them so they could get Dean back in the ring.
"What are you doing?" She heard Kofi ask Fandango.
"Shut up." The dancer glared at him before they shifted back into their spot.
In the ring, Seth was finally getting the upper hand, unfortunately. Pinning him on the mat, he hit him in the head repeatedly before picking him up for a Body Slam.
Yet, that wasn't what caught her attention. She was paying more notice to the fact that around her the lumberjack 'truce' seemed to be falling apart, especially on the side where Dean had just fallen out of. Kofi, RVD, Fandango, and Sandow seemed to be having a heated conversation, that included a few shoves for good measure.
She swallowed the lump in her throat as she started to worry more about what was happening outside of the ring than inside. Though that wasn't for long as Dean was now standing on the top ropes, with his back to the ring.
What the hell are you thinking?
She would never find out before Seth ran up and pushed his feet out from him. "Dean!" She called out as he fell. He didn't fall far however, as his left foot got caught up under the top turnbuckle which left him hanging upside down in the corner. He was at Seth's mercy as he kicked him again and again in the chest.
After a partially hard kick, that had Dean's head bouncing back in the turnbuckles, Seth cocky walked off as if the match was already done.
Not realizing what she was doing until it was too late, Angel pushed past Jey and T-Truth to get to the steel steps behind Dean. Stepping up, she helped Dean who was struggling to get his foot unstuck.
"I got you."
After untangling him, Dean fell ungracefully to the mat. He let out a groan and shifted awkwardly to his side before glancing up at her and nodding.
When she realized that almost all of the other lumberjacks were looking at her, she finally registered what she had done. So much for not showing favorites. She sighed as she jumped the step and made her way back to her spot between the Usos.
"Just couldn't help yourself, could you?" Jimmy asked her with a smirk on his face.
"I kind of forgot myself." She admitted.
"I think it was too cute for anyone to truly care." Jey nudged her.
"Not sure the Authority is going to see it that way."
"Eh who cares."
Seth didn't seem to like the fact that Dean escaped the corner either as he forced Dean into the mat while grabbing at his left arm. Even though she knew he had been cleared, Angel's couldn't help but fret over every look of pain that crossed Dean's face as he tired to fight out of the hold Seth had him in. What if Seth reinjured his arm.
"What do you say?"
"NO!" Dean shook his head.
As the fans cheered and clapped for him, Dean worked his way up to his feet and out of the hold.
"There you go!" She clapped as Dean took off for the ropes. She had already broken the bias rule, so why bother keeping it up.
Bouncing off the ropes, Dean ducked under a swing from Seth before hitting him with one of his own. He then went to Irish Whip the man across the ring, only for it be reversed. Ever quick thinking, Dean flung himself at Seth, trying to hit him with a Cross Body, but Seth dodged out of the way, which sent Dean flying straight across the ring and almost out through the ropes.
Thankfully he was able to stop himself on the apron. The hoard of lumberjacks on the far side of the ring swarmed him, though Dean once again fought them off, Kicking Luke Harper right in the chest.
Distracted by the men on the floor, he was caught off guard by Seth who grabbed him from over the ropes.
"Oh no." She heard beside her as she tried to get a good look at what was happening. All she could see was Seth fighting for control, before his feet suddenly left the ground and both him and Dean were falling backwards towards the group of men under them.
Her eyes widened wide as she watched them collide before collapsing to the floor in a heap. Instincts kicking in, she raced to get to the other side of the ring.
"Wow. Wow." She heard as she was suddenly yanked backwards by hood of Dean's hoodie. "Not so fast."
Stumbling backwards, she landed against Jimmy who held on to her. "Let me go."
"Oh chance." He shook his head. "We told him we would watch you, and I don't really want to die by Dean's hands if he found out we just let you race into danger like that."
She knew the met well, but that didn't stop her from fighting against him as she tired to catch a glimpse of Dean. Which happened quicker then she thought as Dean and Seth were the first too on their feet.
The men locked eyes and then all hell broke loose.
"Shit." Jimmy let her go before rushing off to follow his brother around the ring to join the rest of the lumberjacks who were trying to separate Seth and Dean from each other. They didn't even make it to the other side before Dean was back on Seth.
Now free, Angel carefully made her way around to the chaos that was happening in front of her. Her eyes bounced, trying to figure out where Dean was. After a few moments, she spotted him just as he as Seth were pulled way from each other again.
When the chaos seemed to simmer down a bit, she took her chance to weasel through to Dean who was leaning up against the barricade, trying to catch his breath. Slotting herself right next to him, she placed a gentle hand on his arm. Unsurprisingly he ripped it away from her with a glare.
"Angel?" The glare softened as he blinked at her.
"You good?"
"I'm fine, you however, need to get the fuck out of here." He gave a worried look around. "Shit."
Before she could reassure him or figure out what her next move was, she felt a hand on her arm, pulling her away from Dean. She let out a little yelp and Dean turned back to her instantly.
"Get your hands off her." He said pushing at however was pulling at her arm. It wasn't until she heard the man fall to the floor did, she notice it was Kofi. She would have to apologize for that later. "Angel, I can't focus on you and Seth right now."
Guilt hit her as she watched his eyes bounce around the group of men, she could tell that he was both looking for Seth and trying to figure out who the biggest threat to her was. "Yeah, sorry." She tried to move, she really did, but every time she tried to get out of the way, she ended up running into someone until she was back next to Dean. "So I would like to get out of the way, but that's kind of hard right now."
She heard the cruse pull from Dean's chest as suddenly her feet weren't touching the floor. Before she could even register what was happening, she felt something slightly soft under her. Glancing down she realized that she was sitting on the barricade.
"Hang out with the timekeeper for a moment." Dean told her.
She nodded as she kicked her legs over the side of the barricade, just in time for someone thing to come running past her. She glanced over her shoulder to see Dean throwing Seth over him and the barrier behind him. The fans around them went nuts as Seth rolled around on the floor.
Leaning over so she could get a better view, she didn't notice the mass of men who were making their way towards them until Dean was suddenly pulled away from the barricade. "Hey!" She said slapping Cesaro's arm who was closest to her. "Let him go."
A boo echoed around the arena as Dean was carried off towards the ring. Angel rolled her eyes as she watched them manhandle him back into the ring. She couldn't believe that the entire twenty man 'wall of flesh' was focusing on only him. Sure, he was probably the harder one to wrangle but Seth was still on the crowd's side of the barricade, and she wasn't going to be able to get him into the ring alone.
"You're forgetting about someone!" She called as she slid down to the floor and started over to the group. "Is no one really going to focus on Seth?"
"Shit." Kofi spun around and look at her. She gestured over her shoulder towards where Seth was. He nodded before grabbing Bo Dallas's shirt and pulling him away from the ring. "We got get Seth."
"Right." He said following Kofi.
Glancing back, she wondered if the two men were going to be enough to get Seth back to the ring when a shadow came flying out of the ring and plowed right into the large group knocking a bunch of them to the ground.
She stood there flabbergasted as she looked at the carnage that Dean had left from what she knew without seeing it was a Suicide Dive. Carefully she made her way around Ryback. However, before she could get to him, Dean was up on his feet and pulling himself on top of the announcers' table.
"Wait! Wow! Look at this, look at this!" She heard Micheal Cole call as Dean took off cross two of the three tables. "Ambrose, Ambrose, Ambrose across the table, taking out Rollins."
"This is nuts." She sighed to herself. She was trying very hard to keep up with all the action, but it felt like she was moving in slow motion.
Right as she was about to move, she heard a groan come from below her. Looking down her eyes skimmed over Ryback, Titus O'Neal and Cesaro who happened to be the three unluck men that Dean took out just moments ago. Normally, she wouldn't worry too much about the people that Dean laid out, but these men technically weren't his opponents. And she didn't really like the idea of them getting hurt when it wasn't their fight.
She looked over the men again trying to figure out what to do. Out of the three men, she knew for a fact that Ryback would not appreciate her checking on him, she was sure he didn't even want his tag team partner to that. Which left Titus and Cesaro. She didn't know much about Titus O'Neal, didn't know how he would react, and the last thing she needed was him lashing out for whatever reason.
Leaving only Cesaro. Kneeling, she put a cautious hand on his arm. As soon as she touched him, his eyes snapped over to her and his body tensed up. "You ok?" She asked.
The man frowned and he pulled his arm away gently. "I'm fine…" His voice sounded hesitant.
"Not hurt?"
He shook his head as he moved to sit up.
She quickly moved to help him. "That's good."
The Swiss man's mouth fell open as if he was going to say something when two thumps hit the ground next to them. Looking up, Angel saw Bo and Kofi laying there in a pile. Patting Cesaro on the arm, she slid herself around so she could get closer to the two men.
"Everyone good?" She asked them. "No injuries."
Bo ignore her but Kofi sat up with his back against the barricade and look at her much like he did when she asked him to be a lumberjack. "All good here."
"Prefect." She smiled at him. "And… um, sorry about before. Dean's a little," She paused. "Overprotective."
"Uh huh." Kofi said looking to Big E as the man stepped up to them.
"You ok, man?"
"I think so."
Realizing that E could do the job better then she could, Angel rose from her spot on the floor and looked around trying to find where the 'fight' had gone. Where she had expected to see a group of the lumberjacks fighting the two AWOL men, she just saw Dean and Seth fighting up the stairs of the crowd.
When she turned towards the rest of the lumberjacks, she scoffed at the sight. All of the men who were still standing were doing just that standing there. None of them even looked like they were even remotely bothered by the fact that the two men they were supposed to keep in the ring were now fighting in the stands.
Damn it. She cursed as she took off to do her job. Racing after Dean and Seth she fought through the fans who were so hyped out by the fight they didn't realize she was even there. She pushed until she stood at the bottom of the steps that lead up to where the men were fighting.
"Dean!" Angel called up, though she knew he couldn't hear her through the noise of the crowd around him. "Dean! In the ring! You need to take this in the ring! You can't pin him out here…"
She trailed off. The look on his face as he held onto Seth right above where a large drop was to the arena floor told her he didn't care about pinning Seth at all. He didn't need to 'win' this match that way.
Dean grabbed Seth's arm and threw it over his shoulder, like he was going for a Suplex, and her eyes went wide. Was Dean really going to throw both of them over the railing. She didn't even like the idea of Seth falling this far, let alone him and Dean. Her panic only grew as Seth and him started to fight for control. Luckly, some of the lumberjacks intervened, pulling Dean away from Seth once again.
As much as she was happy that they had stopped something really bad from happening, she grew annoyed that once again they just let Seth go. It was like they forgot that he was one of the men they were supposed to keep in the ring.
Frustrated, she readied herself for the confrontation she was about to have. As soon as Seth was back on the floor, she ran up behind him and grabbed his arm. "Get back in the ring, Seth."
He ripped his arm out of her grasp and laughed. "Yeah right, I'm out of here." He laughed before starting down the open path between the floor seats and stands, that lead to the stage.
"No." She said running around him so she could stand in front of him. "You're going to get back in the ring and finish this match."
"Get out of my way."
She couldn't stop herself from toppling into the fan next to her when he shoved her out of the way.
"Get him Angel."
"Punch him once, that'll show him."
"Fuck him up."
She heard the people around her cheer as she started back after him. "I said get back in the ring." She said while grabbing onto his arm again.
He spun around to face her. "Angel there is nothing you can do to make me get back in that ring and we both know it."
Movement from behind Seth drew her attention. That's when she saw Cody Rhodes, the Usos and Big E waking up behind him. Smirking, she looked back up at Seth. "You wanna bet?"
"What are you going to do?" He asked. "We both know you are too small and weak to force me back. You hit me with a chair and that didn't do much but leave a little bruise, so how do you imagine getting you're going to get me back in the ring by yourself."
"Oh, I'm not." She said letting go of his wrist. "Thank goodness, I'm not alone."
Seth spun around and put up his arm. "Gentlemen, we can talk about this." He said trying to look for his way out.
"Uh huh." Jimmy shook his head as they all grabbed him.
When they got to the ramp, the rest of the lumberjacks met them there. Apparently, they weren't going to take any chances because they all picked Seth up, so that he was held high over their heads.
"Back to the ring you go Seth." Angel called as she patted him on the back the best she could. Before she could move, she was smushed into the large cluster of men who were making their way back to the ring. Now she understood the term 'wall of flesh'.
Knowing she wasn't going to be able to escape, she did her best to move with the cluster. Which would have been easy enough if a force from above didn't send them all scattering to the ground.
Luckly, being small and at the back of the group meant that she didn't feel the impact from what hit them, but it did mean that she didn't have much to hold herself up as the weight of the man in front of her came crashing into her.
A cough was pushed from her she hit the floor, followed by another as a weight fell on top of her. Luckly, it was only Fandango's arm and shoulder. The pressure of just that small amount of his weight on her stomach was already too much. She was all too happy when the man rolled off her.
"Shit!" She heard come from above her before two rough hands grabbed the sides of her face. "Are you ok?"
Blinking, she willed her eyes to focus, and when they finally did, she saw a very worried Dean Ambrose leaning over her. "I'm…." She groaned as she stretched out her body. "I'm fine."
She heard and felt the sigh that came from him as he slowly picked her up off the floor. "You just have to make it your job to put it yourself in danger like this."
"Well." She said as he pulled her into him. "Tonight, it is kind of my job." She chuckled at the soft glare that she got. "I'm just saying."
"Job or not," He said leaning closer to her face. "the only marks you better have on your body are the ones I left there." He kissed her.
D.D.D.
When he pulled away from the kiss, he caught the stunned look on Angel's face before turning away, heading back into the fight. Looking around at the pile of men on the floor, his eyes locked onto Seth. As he stalked over to him, he had to fight the urge to smirk.
A sick thrill went through him as he looked at the panicked look on Seth's face. And that's when he realized that he was feeling pretty good right now. He guessed that everyone was right, all he needed was to punch Seth in the face a few times and everything would be better. Although, he also had a feeling that having Angel out here cheering him on had something to do with it as well.
He glanced back at her. She was standing there, both her hands clasped together against her chest, the blush that he knew was from him kissing her still present on her cheeks. God, she looked so cute. And she was all his.
Damn right. He lost the fight with the smirk.
Turning his attention back to Seth, he grabbed the man by the hair and yanked him off the ground. "We're not done." He threw him into the ring, before sliding in after.
Getting to his feet, Dean watched as Seth rolled around in the middle of the ring, a sick thrill went through him as he felt like a hunter watching his prey. Raising his hand up, he aimed a finger gun at his head.
"Bang."
He jolted forward and grabbed Seth around the neck, tucking him into his side just right for Dirty Deeds, though before he was able to hit the move he managed to escape. That was fine with him, he still had a few hits to get in before he made good on his promise to Roman.
Pain exploded in his gut as he tumbled back into the ropes. How did I miss that? He scoffed at himself as he fought to get his footing back. As he felt the ropes biting into his shoulders, he pressed himself harder into them. When he couldn't push them any farther back, he let them launch him across the ring, like a slingshot, aimed right at Seth. The Clothesline hit it's mark and sent Seth flying through the air almost inside out.
Two grunts filled the air as they both hit the mat. Blinking to get his head on, he spun his body around and saw Seth laid out on his back. Not wasting his moment, he basically threw himself into the cover.
He heard a wheeze come from under him, followed by a chuckle. "You still haven't gotten over this?"
He turned his head, trying to hear him better. "What?"
"All it was, was an alliance falling apart." Seth grumbled. "Even you should understand that breaking up alliances is just part of this job. I mean just how many people have you 'betrayed', Moxley?"
"That's different."
"How?"
Dean wasn't able to answer as he was suddenly thrown off the cover. A cover that he had completely forgotten about until just now. And even so, he was more preoccupied with the conversation than the fight.
Moving slowly but deliberately he grabbed onto Seth and slid closer to him. How was this different than anything he had done before? Moxley wasn't known for having friends. Sure Sami stuck by him for a while but even they had their fallings out. But when the Switchblade Conspiracy broke up it didn't hurt nearly as much as this.
What made that so different from this?
"It's because I trusted you." Dean said as he rose to his feet. "I trusted you with more than just my back in the ring." He glared at Seth who was on his hands and knees. "It because I loved you, brotha."
Grabbing a chunk of Seth hair, he pulled him closer to so he could kiss the top of the man's head before pushing him back to the ground. Without another word, or even a glance to the man in front of him, he took off for the ropes. Hitting them, he spun around and came racing back.
Just as he was about to step on Seth, he jumped up, drew his foot up into the air as far as it would go before slamming it back down, right on top of Seth head. Hitting him with his own finishing move, the Curb Stomp.
Dean cringed as he felt the impact against the bottom of his boot. His stomach twisted when he looked down at Seth laid on his stomach not moving. The worse thought popped into his head. What if he had just broken Seth's neck. As much as he hated the man, as much as he wanted him to feel every ounce of the pain that he had inflicted on him, Roman and Angel, he didn't want to end the man's career. Only a monster strived for that.
He wondered if Seth ever felt this disgusted with his own move. He had a feeling that he hadn't since he had been using the move since 2012. Maybe that should have been the first clue for them that Seth wasn't who he seemed.
"Dean! You need to cover him!"
His body reacted to the order without a second thought. He dropped to his knees, pushed Seth cover onto his back and covered him.
Just as the ref hit the first count, a large weight fell on top of him knocking the air out of his lungs. "Shit." He gritted out as he hunched over in a ball. Thankfully he also felt Seth moving about behind him.
So, he didn't break the man's neck.
"What do you think your doing!" He heard Angel's voice yell, way too close to him.
Looking up, his eyes widened as he watched her go nose to…well chest with Kane who was just looking down at her with a smug smirk on his face.
"You can't just let Seth fight his own battles huh?" She crossed her arms. "Pathetic."
Anger ripped through him as suddenly Kane's hand was around Angel's neck. "Fuck." He spat as he went to push himself off the mat. Before he could even get his foot under him, Goldust was in the ring and pushed himself between Angel and Kane.
"Wow there Kane, is this what you fell to? I can't believe you!" Goldust yelled into the man's face, earning him a slap in his own.
As Goldust fell, all hell broke loose. And just like that all of the lumberjacks were in the ring, fighting each other. With Angel stuck in the middle of it. She looked downright lost, trying to get out of the rumble.
When she shuffled back to dodge away from a flying punch between Fandango and Big, Dean reached out and grabbed the back of the hoodie. Giving it one good yank, Angel came tumbling down into her lap.
Holding her against him, he pulled both of them against the ropes before turning himself just enough to cover her body with his own. Keeping her covered, he watched the chaos unfold around them. And it was chaos, people fighting every which way, trying to throw the other out of the ring, like a mini Royal Rumble.
When there were just a few men left in the ring, Dean took the time to get both him and Angel to their feet. Keeping one arm in front of her, just in case, he used his other one to pull himself up with the ropes.
"You good?" He looked down at her as she rose slowly under him.
"Yeah, I'm good."
Nodding, he looked up and his eyes landed on the last two men who were still in the ring. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, just his luck. Of course, out of all of the lumberjacks it would be the two brainwashed blood thirsty men that were left, and boy oh boy were they looking at the two of them like they were their next meals.
As soon as Harper stepped forward, Dean pushed Angel away from him and into the corner. He couldn't even stop to worry if he had shoved her too hard before the hillbilly was on him. Working on instinct alone, he dropped down just in time to send Harper over the ropes.
Seeming to be upset that his 'brother' was just sent tumbling out of the ring, Rowan came barreling at him. Dean ducked under the large fist that was aimed right at his head, before spinning around to give the ginger man the same treatment as Harper.
After both threats were gone, he turned to Angel and winked, before gesturing for her to get out of the ring. He was going to finish this, well as long as Seth didn't run off while all the lumberjacks were distracted.
Turning around to find him, the question was answered instantly as his vision was filled with a bright gold case before, he was suddenly thrown into darkness.
When he came to again, he was staring up at the lights and Angel huddled over him with a mix of anger and worry. "Dean?"
"Hey." He groaned as he noticed the pounding ache in his head. He blinked and tried to roll over. "Shit."
"Easy." He felt her hands on his shoulders as if she was going to be able to stop him from moving. "You were hit pretty hard."
"Yeah, I noticed." He sighed. "I should have seen that coming." He made it to his stomach. "What happened while I was out?"
"Seth showboated a lot but other than that, nothing."
"Good, good." He stretched his body out. A moan escaped him as his back popped in three different ways. "Fuck that felt good."
"Did it?" She gave a small chuckle. "It sounded like popcorn."
"My back needed to crack since I Suplexed Seth out of the ring." He pushed himself up onto his knees. He looked over to her to see her cocking her head at him, like a curious dog. "What?"
"You seem to be in a better mood then I thought you would be…"
"Ah." He slung an arm around her and pulled her against his side. "Of course, I'm in a good mood."
"Of course."
"Think about it, Seth might have one the match, but I most certainly won the fight. And everyone who saw it knows that, even Seth."
Angel chuckled. "He did try to run away."
"That he did." With a hand on her shoulder, he rose to his feet. "And even as I was being carried back to the ring, I know that my knuckleheaded, danger-prone girl was the one who stopped him."
"Hey." She pouted. "I'm not the knuckleheaded in this relationship."
"If you keep standing up the men like Kane after I told you over and over to stop that, you will be." He ruffled her hair.
"Well, it was uncalled for what he did." She said not even a little sorry for not listening to him. "You would have won the match if it wasn't for him."
"That just mean's our job isn't done yet." He told her, his eyes flickered up to the titantron that was playing Seth's entrance video. "Not by a long shot."
Samcoo 12: Ah thank you so much! I'm so glad you like their relationship. I was so worried if seemed forced and I'm happy to hear you say that you don't think so. Also AHHHHH you're rereading it. That always shocks the hell out of me...It so long reading it once would take forever. Let alone again. But thank you so much.
Spookygabby: The match is here. I hope it was worth the wait... Just wait until Monday Night Raw.
Katmoonchild: Dean is struggling and he doesn't know why. Also yes best hoodie ever. I want one but i started watching too late to really get one.
Katara Melody Cullen: I don't know is anger was the word for it...is there a mix between turned on and angry? LOl Thank you as always.
