TWs: Cruel comments, sociopathic behavior from William, tying someone up, mention of hostages/death/wishing death upon someone. Stay safe :)
Jon walked down the hallway later that night while the hostages were asleep so he could give his report to the leader.
It was quiet; the hall was being monitored by soldiers. He tried talking to some once, but they seemed to want nothing to do with him.
He came to a stop at the Black Leader's door, about to knock. He stopped when he heard him talking to someone. He could only hear Corvidae's voice, which meant he might've been talking on the phone.
It was rude to eavesdrop, but Jon had nothing better to do after walking all this way.
"They're here already...? Tell Goo to investigate their car, maybe hide a tracker or a recorder in it." William spoke, "No, that's all, Rave."
'Ah, he's talking to Hellucard.' Jon thought. He didn't like Hellucard; he never seemed to blink, which Jon found creepy.
"No, you and Glitter stay at your post near the entrance. You two are to come in as the backup."
'Backup? Is this what he's planning?' Jon was always intrigued to find out what his plan was. Corvidae never told him.
"Goo is to try and misdirect them, Bombshell and Heartache are to capture them with... whatever the other two's names are."
'What about me...?' Jon leaned forward, hoping desperately the leader would acknowledge him.
"What about him?" William seemed to snap at Rave, "He's failed me too many times- I can't have him fuck up this one too."
'Maybe he's talking about someone else...' Jon frowned, averting his gaze from the door. Deep inside, he knew that wasn't the case as William laughed heartlessly, continuing his rant.
"The day Jon does something right is the day he goes six feet under again." There was a shift as the Black Leader stood from his chair, nearly knocking a few bottles of alcohol off his desk, "It's a miracle he lasted so long in the real world."
Slowly, Jon walked away from the doorway, his head down. No tears came to his eyes as he passed fellow soldiers. It was hard to be brave when everyone talked down to you.
He exited the main building, crossing the courtyard to get to the second. He took a moment to look at the stars, reminiscing about his past.
Eduardo was mean to him, even Mark was, but they were nicer than this. Sure, Eduardo had wished death upon him, and it happened, but he didn't mean it; he never meant it. Why would Jon be his friend otherwise? Why would Eduardo keep Jon around if he was annoying to be with? Eduardo didn't make sense; their friendship didn't make sense; they were polar opposites.
Jon stopped in his tracks as he saw a shooting star fly by. He blinked, then spoke under his breath, "I wish I could see my friends again..."
After a momentary silence, Jon shook his head, frustrated with himself, 'What am I doing? This isn't some fairytale.'
He continued to the second building.
Matt chose to sleep on the couch that night.
"Woah, that's new." Edd had said before heading to bed, "What's up with you?"
"Nothing." Matt shrugged, "It's only fair that couples sleep together."
Edd looked at him uncertainly before speaking, "If you say so. Goodnight, Matt."
There Matt was, lying on the couch wide awake as the two beds were occupied by the couples. He shifted the blanket over him, staring blankly at the ceiling as he kept his senses open. He let out a yawn as he glanced at the clock; it was nearing three in the morning.
He felt his eyes start to flutter close, only to be awoken by a sound outside the window. The ginger blinked before sitting up and peeking out the blinds. He saw nothing of interest until he noticed someone near Tord's car. They seemed to be tampering with something in their hands.
'Diwi...' Matt huffed as he got up.
Tip-toeing out of the room, Matt went downstairs, about to confront Diwi on what he was doing. He stopped once he was at the door, turning to look at the counter as he heard muffled sounds underneath the floorboards.
Someone else was here.
"So, tell me why we're bringing a kid again?" Bing asked.
"I'm not a kid!" Clay shouted.
"Technically, he's a soldier trained by Tord personally." Arthur stated, "Despite his age, I wouldn't underestimate him."
Clay crossed his arms as he nodded.
"Anyway, does everyone know their parts?" The older asked, feeling a text that was in braille.
"Yeah." Larry was leaning against the wall.
"I do!" Clay jumped up as he shifted the cap on his head.
"I don't- what am I doing exactly?" Bing questioned.
"Bing, you..." Arthur paused as he thought momentarily, "You stay out of the way."
"And why would I do that?"
"Because Larry and I have more experience." Arthur spoke, "So does the kid."
"Not a kid!" Clay yelled.
"Uh- I don't know if you know this, but I literally built a clone army and helped Santa take down Tom since he was destroying Christmas." Bing smiled.
"Wait," Arthur turned around, "You were the one with the clone army that Matt mentioned?"
Bing was quiet for a moment, "Uhm, I helped Santa take down Tom since he was destroying Christmas...?"
Arthur glared, "We'll talk about this later; let's just go before anything bad happens."
"Ugh, that was the worst bed I've ever slept in." Edd complained, rolling his neck, "Now I have cricks in my neck."
"I can give you a massage if you want," Tord smirked.
"Ah-hah, no. Right now, we have to focus." Edd rolled his eyes as he flicked Tord's cheek.
"Fine." Tord frowned.
The group headed downstairs, Matt lagging behind as bags circled under his eyes. He barely slept last night. Vampires needed at least 9 or 10 hours of sleep compared to the average of 7 or 8 hours, which meant Matt wasn't feeling prepared.
Tord noticed his friend's sluggish movements, giving him a look that asked: 'Are you okay?'
The ginger noticed and nodded, deciding not to tell the group about his lack of sleep.
They reached the ground floor, noticing Diwi behind the counter. Matt immediately glared upon seeing his face.
'His face makes me sick...' Matt thought, crossing his arms.
"Ah, hello, guys! Ready to checkout?" Diwi seemed to smile more upon noticing Matt's glare.
"Yep." Edd picked up a pen from nearby and wrote his name on the clipboard.
"Hey, where you guys headed anyway?" The blonde asked, "Maybe I can show you the way."
"I don't think so..." Edd shook his head.
"Ah, really?" Diwi frowned, "I know just about every inch of the area, though. Every diner, theatre, shop, abandoned building..."
Edd perked up, "Abandoned building?"
Diwi nodded, "Sure, there are a lot around here. I think there's one nearby with a lot of graffiti on it. Real pretty."
The group perked up, except Matt. This seemed suspicious, and Matt wasn't one to trust strangers; his mother taught him that, although, technically, he knew this person from high school. He couldn't help but feel wary about him. If his memory couldn't help him, he'd have to do it himself.
"Is that so...?" Pau crossed his arms as he squinted his eye at him. It seemed like Matt wasn't the only one not to trust him.
'Well, he does know the Black Army, unlike the rest of us.' Matt thought.
"Yep, I know all the cool spots here!" Diwi grinned, "So, what are you looking for...?"
Matt stepped up, preventing Edd from answering his question, "I'm sorry, but we're not interested."
Diwi scowled at the ginger. Matt glared back, leaning forward to be intimidating, smelling something similar to nail polish.
"Uh- Matt?" Edd spoke, looking at him questioningly.
Diwi's eye twitched, "I wasn't asking you, Matt; I was asking Edd."
"What are you doing, Matt?" Edd asked.
"Give us a second, Diwi." The ginger glared at him before leading the group away from him, "Don't trust him."
Unbeknownst to the group, Diwi reached into his back pocket and pressed a button.
"Why not?" Edd asked.
"He's working for the Black Army," Pau answered for Matt.
"Exactly." Matt glanced at the ruffled brunette, "How'd you know?"
"You weren't the only one to spot the bracelet." He spoke, "And he smells of spray paint."
"Bracelet?" Pat questioned.
"Edd shook his hand; I happened to notice a bracelet with a skull charm, reminiscent of the ones some members get," Pau explained, remembering when his mentor told him about it, "It's a whole process, or whatever... basically, it means that he's one of the best soldiers and the Black Leader favors him over others."
"Huh..."
"What should we do?" Edd glanced behind him to look at Diwi, noticing he was propped against the counter, looking bored.
"We say no and leave." Tord shrugged.
"We can't leave." Matt spoke, "There are people tied up in the basement."
Everyone had a look on their face, silently agreeing on what they had to do.
Later, they had Diwi tied to a chair and knocked out in the basement while the hotel owners were released.
"You think he'll be alright?" Edd asked.
"Eh- he's a soldier; he'll be fine." Tord smiled as he closed the basement door.
Bombshell perked up as she reached into her pocket for her phone.
"Shit..." She muttered.
"What is it?" Her fiance questioned.
"It's Goo's distress signal." Bombshell let her look at the signal.
"The boys aren't headed here," Heartache spoke.
Bombshell grunted as she sent out a signal to the others, "Right, it's time for plan B."
