TWs: Dehumanizing, needles/shots, knives/guns, and hostages. Stay safe :)
"How is our weapon coming along?" William asked, entering the protective observation area, his eyes peering through the glass at the demon wide awake and growling in the corner.
"Not so well, sir." Mad Scientist spoke, looking at his clipboard.
"What?" The leader turned to glare at him.
"Getting it to cooperate has proven to be a difficult task." John grimaced.
"That's why we have tranquilizers!" William raised his hands, exasperated, "We have the technology to put the monster in submission, so use it."
"Right-" With a button press, a robotic arm came down from the ceiling, hovering over the monster. It held a needle in its grasp.
Tom heard the noise above him right as the needle dug into his neck. He let out a whimper as the arm inserted the liquid into his bloodstream.
It felt like his brain melted into a puddle, and he was pushed into the backseat as he watched from afar, like he had no control over what he was doing.
"Did it work...?" He heard the one in a labcoat ask.
"I dunno." His father spat, "Do another shot to make sure."
Tom tried moving his body, but it wouldn't budge. It was like he was glued down as he could only watch from the sidelines as another needle was inserted.
He could only watch as the person he hated most tormented him.
"This should be far enough." Pat spoke, parking the car on a backstreet, "Is everyone ready?"
The group nodded; Pau, Pat, and Tord had their firearms, Edd had his superpowers, and Matt had his supernatural abilities and two daggers.
"You still have those?" Tord asked Matt as they got out of the car.
"What?" Matt flipped a dagger in his hand, pointing it sideways.
"I gave you those, remember?" Tord raised an eyebrow, "Birthday present."
Matt thought as he gazed at the intricately designed daggers, "Oh, you did!"
Pau glanced at the two, peering at the daggers as he saw familiarity in the handles.
"Alright, let's go; the building should be somewhere around here," Pat said.
The group began walking around the upskirts of England, looking at the scenery. It was like a wasteland and was barren with not many people around. It was also quite polluted; trash was scattered around the streets, and random objects were about.
Pau couldn't help but think about when he first encountered the Black Army. He grew weary as they walked past dark alleyways and abandoned buildings.
"Hey, look." Edd spoke, stopping in his tracks as he pointed, "Those buildings have graffiti on them."
Standing a few yards ahead of them were five graffiti-covered buildings; two looked to be halfway through construction.
"It looks like the construction company stopped building." Tord examined, "Perfect place for their base."
"Let's get a closer look."
They analyzed their surroundings before ducking behind a few barrels.
"Which building are they in...?" Pau muttered, "There are three buildings that can hold them."
"Edd, use your x-ray vision!" Matt glanced at his friend.
"Oh, yeah." The taller forgot he could see through walls sometimes.
Blinking a few times, Edd squinted at the buildings, his vision exploring what was behind the walls. He noticed two buildings had basements, as well as figures moving around.
"Wait, I think I see..." Edd examined one basement further, spying a bone structure of a creature down below, "I think I see Tom."
"What, where!?" Matt's eyes widened, grasping onto Edd's arm tightly.
"In the bigger building, the basement." He responded, "I think he's in his monster form."
"Where are You and Yan?" Pat asked.
"Ah, they might be in the building on the left, also the basement." Edd glanced at the basement of that building, "One of them seems to be hurt."
"We better hurry then," Tord spoke, getting out his latest inventions, "I only managed to make two of these."
"Are those the inhibitors you were talking about?" Edd asked, blinking as he rested his vision.
"Yeah, they should attach to the building and silence any alarms they may have active." Tord handed one to Edd, "It's best if we split into two groups; you go with Pat to save Yan and You, while the three of us rescue Tom."
Edd looked down at the object in his hands, "Tord."
"Yes...?" There was a particular tone in Edd's voice that made Tord nervous.
"Promise me you'll be safe?"
Tord half-smiled, "You know I'm bad at promising that..."
Edd silently glared at him, waiting until the Norsk did what he wanted.
"Fine," Tord sighed, "I promise I'll be safe, min kjærlighet."
"You better." The brunette nodded and kissed him. Tord pulled his closer, deepening the kiss.
"They're in their own world now..." Pat muttered. Pau hummed in agreement, gently holding his hand as he gave his reassurance.
"Jeg lover deg at vi alltid kommer til å være sammen." Tord uttered to his partner.
Edd raised an eyebrow, "What...?"
Tord smiled, "Nothing you need to worry about."
Pau and Pat looked at each other, understanding what the shorter said. Pau smirked, finding something new to tease him with.
"Alright, let's do this." Tord loaded his guns, making sure his HK416 was secure on his back.
The two groups split up, Edd and Pat heading towards the left building and Tord, Pau, and Matt heading for the middle building. They made sure to stick along the edges of the buildings, ducking behind barrels to ensure they couldn't be seen.
A few soldiers guarded each of the buildings, roaming the perimeter and keeping an eye out.
'It should be somewhere...' Tord peeked around the barrel they were behind, looking at the building they had to go in, 'There!'
He spotted a vent in the bottom corner of the building. He waited until they were in the clear, then ran for it.
He quickly attached the inhibitor above the vent. It made a clicking sound as it stuck to it like glue, the middle lighting up green. Tord took out his screwdriver and unscrewed the nails.
"Hurry, hurry..." Pau spoke as he noticed someone was about to come around the corner.
"I'm trying..." Tord grunted, taking out the last screw and taking the vent off. He allowed the others to go first before crawling inside, making sure the vent was back in place as he used his robotic arm to meld it. He sighed in relief as the tip of his metal finger snapped back in place, "That was close..."
"When did you make that upgrade?" Pau asked.
"What do you mean? It was always a thing." Tord answered.
"Huh..." Pau quirked an eyebrow, wondering how he didn't notice.
"Guys, I think I have Tom's scent!" Matt said from in front of them, sniffing the air as he smelled a familiar alcoholic beverage Tom enjoyed.
The building on the left was less guarded, so Edd and Pat had an easier time getting to the vent.
"Okay, let's see..." Edd whispered as he placed the inhibitor next to the vent. It made a clicking sound and turned green, which he took as a good sign, "Now the vent..."
Edd closed an eye and used his laser vision as he slowly went around the edges of the vent. It popped open and fell into his arms. Pat went inside it first, and Edd looked around to ensure no one was around before squeezing his way into it. He managed to prop the vent against the shaft, hoping no one would notice it was off.
"Do you know which way it was?" Pat asked.
"Uh- take a right up here," Edd spoke.
They made their way to the underground level. Edd switched places with Pat so he could laser the grate out. He caught the grate before it fell and placed it inside the shaft.
"That door should lead us to the room they're in," Edd muttered. Pat nodded, jumping down and landing on his feet. Edd wasn't so graceful with that, nearly tripping over his feet.
"Nice." Pat complimented.
"Thanks..." Edd flushed in embarrassment.
Pat cautiously walked up to the door, getting on one side. Edd followed his lead, going to the other side.
Then Pat noticed the keypad next to it.
"What is that?" Edd asked.
"It looks like you're supposed to scan your hand, and the door will open for you." Pat explained, "We didn't have these in the Red Army..."
"Maybe I can try frying it?" Edd said.
"It's worth a shot." Pat shrugged, stepping back to give Edd room.
Edd cracked his neck, blinking a few times as a warmup. He glared at the keypad with his eyes, lasers shooting out of them.
Error noises were heard as the pad blew its fuse and died. The door opened moments after.
"It worked!" Edd grinned.
"That was easy," Pat spoke as they stepped inside the room.
The area was unlit, prompting the two to glance at each other.
"Was the keypad the source of light as well? Why is it so dark?" Edd asked.
"I have no idea." Pat squinted his eyes.
The lights came back on, blaring from the ceiling.
A deep yet smooth voice called out to the duo, "You two must be lost."
Before them was the Black Leader standing above You and Yan, both knocked out and tied up on the floor behind him. Despite the soldiers they saw wearing respirator masks outside, the Black Leader wasn't wearing one, giving them a full view of his face.
"You must be Edd and Pat; I've heard so much about you." He spoke, slowly grinning.
